I’m writing this on the fly, because I am out of town, but I don’t want you to think that Willow Rose has not done her job in this series. I love Eva Rae and it is a good thing that Matt is a very patient man. Not weak, just believing in Eva and her deepest need – to save people. She’s not arrogant. She’s not looking for attention. She quietly goes about the business at hand, saving innocents.

Let Me Go, for me, feels different from a lot of her stories. It is not your typical serial killer visiting havoc on others.

The climate of fear and the expectation of violence accelerates the serious risk of overreaction and excessive use of force.

I can understand that quote. I can empathize with law enforcement, but when an innocent is involved, we need to question what’s happening and look for some solutions.

I loved it when seven year old Alex said, ” Matt. We need to talk.” Out of the mouth of babes.

This is a frightening eye opener of the possibilities for mayhem and madness to run riot from a chair at a computer. Swatting. Ever heard of it? I’m not sure I have, but the thought is terrifying. To know by one phone call, a life can be forfeit.

Let Me Go is a truly frightening look at a realistic plan, because of one man’s need for revenge. This may also be a wake up call for parents to keep an eye on what your kids are doing on the computer.

I LOVED the first 4 Eva Rae Thomas books. But half way through this book I almost DNF. I was getting completely frustrated by Eva Rae. Do I think she loves her kids, yes. Do I think she loves being a mom, no. This book made it easy to see why her former husband, her new beau and children were frustrated with her and so distant. When she was home, she wasn't present with them. Always trying to solve the next case and save the next person. While those are valiant actions,she has complete disregard for those in her life until she needs something from them. Her mom to babysit. Matt to use his police influence. Her dad to Jack. Isabella to bail her out. She is only seen interacting with others when she is needing something even though other people want her time and attention in return, she doesn't give it to them.

And honestly, if she was telling the police and local authorities about the potential threats and no one was listening and we've now had a handful of incidents she accurately predicted. The police are either ignorant to ignore her, or should have been investigating her potential involvement since she had so much knowledge.

Ugh. I really tried. I have forced myself to slug though these Eva Rae books. I keep hoping they'll get better. The actual crime portions of the books are very interesting which is what kept me coming back but the characters and dialogue are still awful.

After five long books, Eva Rae still has to convince everyone she's not crazy. Her boyfriend (who she loved, then was confused about, then loved, then had second thoughts about...) is always raising his eyebrows at her harebrained theories and exclaiming "Oh, Eva Rae! Come on, Eva Rae!" I'm so sick of seeing "Eva Rae" 33 times during an argument. It feels insane. No one with familiarity addresses someone by their full name multiple times during conversations. It's too bad because the relationship between Eva Rae and Matt could have had true potential had it actually been consistently developed. Where's the authenticity and continuity? Where's the familiarity (they're supposed to have known each other forever) like nicknames and childhood anecdotes? The repetition of Eva Rae having a hunch and still having to convince her boyfriend she's not crazy is getting redundant. Initially Eva Rae realized that she and Matt had a true connection, and Eva Rae knew that her ex-husband was a jerk and she deserved better, but Eva Rae is so wishy-washy and bipolar that one book later she's considering leaving Matt for the ex-husband that we readers were encouraged to see as manipulative and wrong for her. Whenever Eva Rae has an epiphany or conviction about something she feels, she will let you know later that she's confused or unsure about that exact same situation. Oh, Eva Rae!

I don't know if the author is personally opposed to using expletives or not but it seems like every character in the book expresses their displeasure with exclamations like "Gosh dang it!" I found myself giggling trying to envision the hard-boiled detective type shouting "Darn!" in a fit of rage. There really should be some more diversity with the dialogue.

Unfortunately, my relationship with Eva Rae and her silly antics end here. I had to give up reading this book at 52%. I really think a lot of aspects of these stories have so much potential and the crime-related subject matter has been intriguing enough for me to ignore the inconsistent and annoying characters until now. Goodbye, Eva Rae, may I never have to see your name in print 4 times in the same paragraph again.

SPOILERS.....

This is a kindle unlimited series so I keep reading. But the truth is that I don’t really like the main character. I don’t think she is written well - her vapid waffling between Chad and Matt in the last book and her sparked interest in Liam here.... I get that all that might be ‘real’ but it isn’t good fiction. I want to root for the heroine and the guy. In this case, I kind of feel sorry for Matt at the end.

I gave more than one star to each of them because of the side action I suppose. I think it was generally interesting and kept my attention. But I don’t think her character development is the best.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🔰

She ends up in Washington D.C. where clues lead to the unexpected conclusions and arrest of the killer. Back to Florida and her love 💘 and family.

Unrealistic

I could write A book with the things that are wrong with this book. The whole thing was completely insane. The author made it seem like all the law-enforcement agencies she came in contact with thought that she was just a crazy incompetent possibly shady ex-FBI profiler however she manages to constantly get out of trouble with them and I just don’t understand like this is not how any of this works. So once again she is supposed to be this brilliant profiler but is literally gallivanting around the country with the murderer and doesn’t realize it until the end after he’s killed hundreds. They’ve made Matt look like a complete idiot. Why would Matt’s son get shot and lose his arm and then Matt just leaves him to go see about Eva Rae? This again makes no sense no no responsible parent would behave this way. Eva Rae herself is a irresponsible parent by the way that she has left her children numerous times during very important moments to do stupid shit. Her kids have suffered an incredible amount of trauma between books 1 and five and she has not addressed it. No counseling for the daughter that got caught up in the human trafficking. No grief counseling for her kid whose dad was killed while they were all stuck in a school during a hurricane. No therapy for her mother who had been living with a serial killer for a long time.Like I’m seriously glad these books are free with my Kindle subscription.

Yet another great read by Willow Rose!  Willow Rose became one of my favorite authors in 2019 from the very first book I read of hers. I now know if I start a Willow Rose book that I'm in for a great plot with lots of unexpected twists and turns. Let Me Go was a fast paced read that is based on a crazy phenomenon that really happens. Murders are happening that just look like 911 swat calls that escalate and a person at the scene ends up dead by a police officer. Eva Rae Thomas, a former FBI profiler, knows she is on the trail of a killer but no one believes her theory. Would you believe someone if they came to you and told you your child or someone else you love is fixing to be killed? Eva Rae is on mission to prove the past cases are murder and to stop the killer before more people die. Let Me Go gives us a look into the world of Gaming and the phenomenon called swatting.

Excellent read and the ending blew me away! An ending I did not see coming! If you like thrillers, murder mysteries or suspense novels and you haven't read a Willow Rose novel your missing out on a lot of great reads!

2.5 rounded up. This book started out okay, but by the time I got about half way through, I was about ready to hang it up! The main character was annoying. Her boyfriend moved in with her, but she is attracted to a different character. She keeps going off on her own to solve the mystery. There is no buildup of the characters.

Good thrilling read as Eva Rae found herself searching for this killer in an unlikely place. This story did provide knowledge about gamers and You-tubers that I was unaware. Mild suspense kept me reading as I was interested to find out the guilty culprit. Good addition to the series.

This is the fifth book in the Eva Rae Thomas mystery series by Willow Rose.

If you have not read the previous four books in this series, definitely do that before you read this. The stories in this series flow easily from one to the other and reading it out of order would only get mega confusing. This has marathon potential for sure!

Eva Rae is sure that a killer is targeting people who are playing a particular video game and she has tracked down the next victim to the son of a celebrity chef. The person isn’t actually doing the killing. They are calling in a threat that causes the police to come in and get so jumpy that they end up killing the victim before they realize this entire scenario was rigged.

I was so surprised by who the bad guy ended up being. What great plotting! This is definitely a new favorite series for me. Guilty pleasure reading!

This one hit too close to home!

Reading a story that involves the Black Lives Matter movement in June 2020, was just a bit too disturbing. This book was released well before the George Floyd shooting but eerily paralleled society right now. I enjoy the Eva Rae Thomas series and look forward to book 6.

ANOTHER GOOD BOOK FROM WILLOW

Another nail-biter too! It’s a bit scary thinking about how technology can be used so nefariously. I had not heard of ‘swatting’ but it makes perfect sense when you know that high tech is in the hands of criminals.

Again this book in the series started out slow. Time after time the police and rescue personnel are called to sites of potential murder or bomb threats. The reader goes on a roller coaster ride. You think the story is over … but as in all good things “it’s not over till it’s over”!

Willow Rose never ceases to amaze me. My heart was racing, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire book. The HUGE twist at the end really got me. Eva Rae’s relationship with Matt and her children were seriously tested, and it made for huge character development for Matt and his son. I hope that Willow will write more of Eva Rae’s story in the future.

A good book if you suspend your belief in logic.

I was entertaining, and dialogue is well written.

The heroine is getting progressively more idiotic but the plots are intriguing

Heres the stupid part:,

An ex-FBI profiler, 12 deaths, proof of trying to contact 1 of them, proof of having contacted, before the calls and kill s of 2. Proof of the links, a father who is a cyber security- for governments and massive companies who can verify the links. But no one will listen - ever think of going to the media?!?!

AND

The FBI has about 35,000 employees that are agents, analysts, profilers, information specialists, tech specialists etc ( not including clerks and office staff) but no one can figure anything out but Eva and serial killers -5 seconds far- only target her. 5 in 1.5 years based on Alex’s age.

Really?

Where did her minivan come from? It drowned in the last book.
I wanted to slap Eva Rae for her lack of people skills. Everyone in her life was an afterthought. She needed to b institutionalized.
And Matt! Fucking milk toast. Exhusband died saving his butt and he forces himself and he son into an already full house? Really?
I feel the personal dynamics were not deep enough or sensible.
Eva Rae has the world revolving around her but she isn’t involved in it. Not acceptable

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Eva Rae series so far. I love the way Willow Rose combines real world events (such as BLM and Swatting) with an engaging mystery. I also really enjoy the writing style of a past and present narrative that comes together.

While I liked the plot of this one, parts of it felt flat. I'm really sick of the Eva and Matt romance troubles that have become a focal part of the last few books. I also felt the ending, while fully tied up and not leaving any cliffhangers, was very abrupt.

Still an enjoyable read and I'll hope for a sixth book soon.

Eva Rae, former FBI profiler, believes she has found a serial kiler within the online gaming world but when she tries to warn the potential victims and law enforcement no one believes her. Even her cop boyfriend tells her to leave it alone. With the help of the father of one of the victims can she catch the killer before more people die?

Willow Rose continues to impress me with each and every book, I read.
This one was a nail biting thriller that every parent should read. This exact harrowing event happened not more than 4 hours from where I live and so I was enthralled by this plot. Keep these wonderful books coming, they are a murder-mystery-thriller’s dream.

I really am so disappointed in the way the character Eva Rae who is a brilliant former Ex FBI Profiler has turned into this self centered, confused and thoughtless person. The crime portion of the book is kind of unbelievable also. If Eva Rae is so d*mn smart why is it no one believes her theories. She has figured out and solved huge cases but in this instance she has to beg even Matt to believe her. Chad was a sh*t who left her but she put him on a pedestal after death. The children get jerked around with Eva Rae traveling to solve important cases but she neglects them right after a huge loss due to crime work. I may have to take a break from this series. I really am irritated and disappointed in her mom skills. She has bonded with her father so she can use him for his hacking skills. The rest of the details are discombobulated black lives matters story, nice attempt but...

There is a serial killer on the loose--but only Eva Rae realizes it. She is bound and determined to figure out who it is and stop them! Her obsession gets so that she ignores her boyfriend and her children. When she figures out who the next victim is--she tries to tell the boys father. Of course he does not believe her--and the boy is murdered. Even worse--this killer is using the police to do the murdering!!

The boys father teams up with her in hopes of catching who ever is behind all this.

More people die via the police---finally the FBI begins to believe Eva Rae.

The twists and turns in this one will leave you gasping---and I did not guess who the culprit was until it was revealed!!

I would give this book 1.5 stars, but Goodreads won't let me. The main character has more unlikable in this book to a point that I don't like. In some parts she'll push others to get what she wants and in others, she's a doormat. I don't know what the author was trying to do.

The main reason why I didn't like the book was the main victims weren't the people who were killed (mostly people of color), but the police who shot them. Oh, about two of them killed themselves, but some of them were fired or left their jobs voluntarily. They were already stressed going in the situation so we should feel sorry for them. Give me a break. That's their job. They should handle stress better. I'm tired of hearing that excuse. This is the reason I can't continue with this series.

I really really liked the first 4 books. And although I started having some doubts about Eva Rae as a person and how she handled her personal life (which for me just sounded a tad "not normal"), I still thoroughly enjoyed the story lines. Well...it got a whole lot worse in this book. I get it that she has an overwhelming desire to help people, but really - can one person really put her family and "perfect boyfriend" last without so much as a second thought. Then to question herself over and over again (sounding so false) but yet continue to do so. It is just not normal. But yes - I will read the next book and just hope the management of her personal life takes a more "natural" course. Otherwise - Matt - dump her and move on!

Let Me Go is a So So Thriller

This story was not the best of Willow Rose’s Thrillers. There were several flaws in the story, the first one being that the Teenage Swatter couldn’t be found by computer experts but the Chef could find although, he was almost computer illiterate. The second one involves Eva Rae’s going to the location of the Swatter without attempting to notify her FBI boss or other Law Enforcement Agencies where she is going.

Despite these major flaws it was an interesting story with a substantial subplot concerning Eva Rae’s family and romantic relationships.

This was so incredibly good !!

Eva is on the hunt for a swatter that is active in online gaming. While trying to sort out her feelings about everything that has happened in life.

I didn’t even know what swatting was until I read this book. To think that this even exists, and that the boys in blue have to try and catch this is astonishing.

Once again though, I didn’t know who the killer was until the last minute. I figured it out as she had entered the house, before his name was mentioned (that still counts as me figuring it out right? Haha).

This was a great read ! 5 stars well deserved.

This was an interesting story, but a bit too preachy, and definitely one-sided against the police. If Rose had given more of a balance to the story - like how many police officers are killed or seriously wounded in the line of duty every year and tell their side of the story, too - it would have been much better. Yes, their are racist police officers; but there are also many decent ones who put their lives on the line every day to protect us.

Eva Rae is a seasoned FBI Agent, grown woman, and stressed single mother - she would not just say “Dangit!” when upset.

And too many nostrils flaring all over the place! There are other ways to describe one’s anger.
