Real talk - this was way better than I expected. I expected this to be terrible and it far exceeded the hopes I had for it. The first praise I want to highlighr: the author did a fantastic job translating the illustrated high action of a comic book to written word. At no point did the *boom*, *pow*, or trademark *THWIP* feel cheesy. On the contrary, the action was a delight - exciting and surprisingly easy to follow.

The story itself was fresh - it didn’t offer any real twists or turns, but it did something new with old characters which was nice. The characters were great too! Kingpin and Hobgoblin are the main baddies, and both interpretations of the characters do them justice. Same can be said for the Spidey and Daredevil. Really liked DD’s grizzled veteran, mentor role in this one.

Another praise was that this book leaned into what it is - a hammy comic book novella. Spidey quips, DD broods, and the Kingpin’s henchmen have laughably goofy dialogue similar to Arkham thugs. Really enjoyed this romp through Hell’s Kitchen.
