What Happens in Vegas

Rate this book
Thirty-four year old Greg McCormick thought taking his on again, off again, twenty-five year old girlfriend Carmen to Las Vegas for a weekend of fun, might rekindle a spark between them. But Greg quickly sees their differences in what their idea of ‘fun’ in Vegas is and it creates more of a separation than a reunion.

Liam D’ Cosa, a construction worker from the San Diego area, takes a girl he’s known for only two weeks, Jenny, on a three-day Vegas holiday. When the two couples meet on the first night, Greg and Liam are left on their own as their girlfriends quickly find common ground and become ‘BFF’s.

The two men find, they also, share the interests in the crazy action of The Strip and its many macho tourist attractions.

Greg, whose brother Skylar is gay, is open to all types of relationships, just not one that means a commitment.

Liam is slightly enthralled with Greg’s aura of power, not to mention they live close to each other in San Diego, and Greg owns his own construction company. In a volatile economy, it doesn’t hurt to have connections.

As the women go gallivanting on their own, leaving the two men together; Greg and Liam get to know one another on a deeper level.

One evening when the women are out late, Greg and Liam experiment…together.

But it’s one thing to have a fling in Vegas, where ‘What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas’…and a different story when Liam and Greg head home.

Since Greg seemed distant and avoided the text messages Liam sent, Liam ends up meeting Mike, a gay man who has admired him from afar through a mutual gay friend.

It’s then the dynamics of the three men comes to a head, and Liam, stuck in the middle, has to decide if what happened in Vegas was real, or just a onetime fantasy with a man as amazing as Greg.

A solid 3 star GFY story until we got to the cheating (not the girlfriends) but between the two guys. There was no point to the whole Liam/Mike liaison once Greg and Liam got together. I wanted more scenes with Liam and Greg not some other guy I didn't care for. Total smut for smuts sake and ruined the story for me. Last GA Gauser book I buy, I've been burned too many times with unlikeable characters and cheating scenarios. YMMV.

what happens in Vegas did not stay there.
2 couples met by accident and hit it off. The women were more interested in what they can do in Vegas then the men they were with.
Of course the guys got together did boy stuff and found that they had a mutual liking for each other.
I could have seen that coming from a mile away, but how it panned out, was not as I expected.

I'm normally a big GA Hauser fan, but I couldn't connect with this book. I didn't particularly like the heroes and had a hard time rooting for them. In the end, I ended up liking her secondary characters, Michael and the hairdresser (sorry can't remember the name) better than the heroes.

I do recommend many of Ms. Hauser's other books. The Wedding Planner is a particular favorite of mine that she's written. Maybe you will feel differently about this one and like the characters more, it just wasn't for me.

Probably Contains Spoilers

The synopsis pretty much tells the story of what happens. The time frame is for me a bit quick, 3 days not all of it sexual is not much of a basis for a relationship.

What I liked is how they bonded and had non-sexual chemistry. How they are both nervous and experiment together learning together.

What I didn't like is that Liam while still in a relationship. No matter what this is never right, leave first. The author made his girlfriend bigoted in the end to justify the means. I think this is sending the wrong message because Liam decision was mostly based on her not having sex with him when he wanted leaving him horny.

Another huge issue was Mike. He was just brought in for drama. Liam felt it was fine since Greg rejected him once. Note that Greg never said he wasn't interested, that was Liam reading between the lines. Give a guy more than 6 days before deciding to move on, jeesh. There is a saying about assumptions. And I know the corny romantic in me was bothered that they were both each other only male sexual partners and that didn't mean anything to Liam.

Liam felt a bit careless with others emotions. His girlfriend, Greg and Mike. Even his hairdresser friend. Yet he came out without a scratch...

I'm glad they got their HEA, but I would have preferred it if the drama was created by coming out to Greg's parents and work conflicts (those aspects felt less explored_.

I liked a lot about this book. I like that the author took time to consider the realistic parts of gay sex that no one bothers to add in. I like that the author showed their hesitance and obstacles instead of having them sound like gay porn professionals instantly, that's one thing that always bothers me in a story and this felt more organic and realistic. It may sound weird, but those little touches really did put the icing on the cake for me. The characters were instantly likeable, the story line was reasonable, and the humor exchanged between the characters was refreshing and funny. It wasn't overly super unrealistically, nauseatingly sweet, and felt the more genuine. I really appreciate that. I loved the supporting characters, particularly Greg's brother Skylar. The easy relationship between Skylar and Greg was a happy surprise.

The very few points I didn't like about this book weren't enough to bear mentioning. It certainly didn't detract me from the story or make me like this book, as a total, any less.

I really liked this story. It was full of emotion, witty banter and the trials of not only a new type of relationship for both Greg and Liam, but the acceptance that maybe being together is the right thing for both of them. The epilogue rounded off the story nicely, although I am always greedy for more!!! Enjoyable read!

What a delightful story. Here we meet Liam and Greg, they meet in Vegas, and as we know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. This is a good story, it's well written, and you will love the characters.

Nice story, I liked how they are both nervous and experiment together learning together the gay stuff ,though their bond was mostly based on not having sex with their girlfriends. I liked more Liam than Greg, but in the end both have surrendered at their true sentiments .

Even though I have read most of what this author has written, this book seemed very different than her usual.
