Coleman #11

Whispers of Nantucket

Rate this book
A sunken cruise ship. A stormy night. And family secrets thought lost to time.

In 1982 Chuck Coleman moves to Martha's Vineyard to marry his mistress and care for his two little girls, Oriana and Meghan. The departure from Nantucket and his original family home is a great shock. He misses his first wife. He misses his sons.

But coming to Martha's Vineyard is the right thing to do. Isn't it?

One sleepless night, Chuck walks down the beach and discovers a lighthouse, manned by a craggy ex-seaman and his son, both of whom ignite Chuck's curiosity.

But just minutes later, the three of them peer out the lighthouse window and see a ship sinking just off the coast.

Immediately they call the coast guard.

What comes next is one of the most sinister nights of Chuck's life.

More than forty years later, Chuck lives in a retirement facility on Martha's Vineyard and encounters a mysterious woman in her sixties, one who has lost her ability to walk and talk. To Chuck, sixty-something is far too young to live in a home like this. What happened to her?

But soon, Chuck realizes something this woman is no stranger. In fact, they met more than forty years ago, during an inky-black and evil night.

Together with his novelist daughter-in-law Estelle, Chuck peels back the layers of time to discover just what happened that fateful night the ship sank.

Nothing is as it seems.

Whispers of Nantucket is book eleven of The Coleman Series series, a heart-wrenching yet hopeful family drama that unfolds between the glittering shores of Nantucket Island.

Whispers of Nantucket, the 11th book in the Coleman series, is a close-up look at events that occurred over 40 years ago that now affect the present. Chuck Coleman abandoned his first family and started a new one on Martha's Vineyard. A shipwreck detected by Chuck when he visited the lighthouse one night has changed his life and the lives of other people. Chuck's daughter-in-law, Estelle is a novelist who has become entranced by the shipwreck and how it devastated people's lives. Chuck and Estelle basically become super sleuths. The plot is brilliant, and I read the book very quickly. I'd love to see it made into a movie. I highly recommend this story.

This book contains multiple story lines. The plot has some twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. Estelle Coleman is researching a story line for a new book. The story line also flashes back to 1982, when Chuck has settled in with his new family. One stormy night Chuck wanders to a lighthouse and comes on the scene of a shipwreck. Chuck helps search for Vivian, the daughter of a French woman, Natasha. The dynamics of the Coleman family are interwoven through the story.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

Oh my goodness…this is one helluva read! As if the story surrounding the Coleman’s wasn’t convoluted enough, Katie Winter stirs in a sinking private cruise ship, a drunken lighthouse keeper, and a richer than God family named Albright. Man oh man — this one will take your breath away.
It’s got it all…love, hate, intrigue, lost years. You need to grab a copy of this book today! Let Katie Winter steal your heart and soul away on another Nantucket adventure—you’ll be so glad you did! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally mesmerized by it.) ❤️❤️

I love this series of stories about the Coleman Family. Book 11 has a lot more drama than the usual story. I searched to see if the shipwreck was a real event and if Albright's were real people but could not find any mentions of them or the happening. Anyway, I look forward to Book #12 to see if there is police involvement in the occurrence of 1982 and Darcy giving birth.

thus is easy comfort reading and I enjoy the break from all the mysteries I read.

Katie Winters shows her storytelling abilities again in, Whisper’s of Nantucket! I just love that she reconnects us with her characters, expands our setting overseas at times. She continues to provide us with twists and turns that keep us up past our bedtime! Her book is great entertainment and gives me a great feeling of well-being and contentment!

Loved this. It flips back and forth from 1982 and present day. From back when Chuck Colman had left Nantucket for the vineyard and observed a ship sink from the lighthouse. Somehow his secrets from that year resurface as estelle plans her next novel. Loved the back and forth and learning more secrets of the Coleman family.

Whispers of Nantucket

This book was so interesting with Chuck noting the ship sinking and discovering Vivian. All of the adventures of finding out what happened and who was responsible. Estelle writing her new book and the whole Coleman getting together. There was so many interesting things going on from 1982 thoughts by Chuck. Look forward to reading the next adventure.

Katie keeps you waiting and wondering about all the past mysteries. What really happened to the ship and the ulterior motives. Estelle’s book research brings light to the past and hope for the future. Page turner and the Coleman family reunites in another great story.

Surprising

The book starts out slow. But stay with it, it turns out to be one of the best in the series. And has a couple of questions left unanswered.
