My Solemn Vow is a dark mafia romance which content may not be suitable to all readers. Discretion and careful consideration requested. My Solemn Vow will not be written in iambic pentameter, the author just thinks she's funny. The book is in dual, first person point of view, and allows you insight into the minds of both lead characters.
I loved this book!! Antonella and Valor are from rival families, but they have such amazing chemistry! Yes they clash but also you can feel this pull between them. She steps up and saves his daughter Kerrianne …and that action has consequences.
They find themselves married…and well Valor has a secret. I LOVED the scene where he finally shows her his wolf. I absolutely felt for her in that scene and I loved how Valor’s wolf made her feel at ease.
It is NOT smooth sailing…and oh mistakes are made!! This book is a dark romance and well, expect some groveling!
Antonella is such a badass - she is so strong and smart and perfectly stabby. Valor definitely has trust issues but he also recognizes what she did to save Kerrianne and there are some sweet moments between them.
Kerrianne is adorable and sassy and I loved her character!
✨What To Expect: 🥀Mafia Romance 🖤Dark Romance 🐺Wolf Shifters ❤️🔥Enemies to Lovers 🔥Forced Proximity 👩🏫Single Dad x Teacher 💍Arranged Marriage 💋Fierce FMC 🔪Feminine Rage 🎭Hidden Identity…kinda 💔Romeo & Juliet Retelling
I am FLOORED at how much I liked this book. I haven’t given a 5 star out for a mafia book in a while and this one was amazing.
Wolf shifters? Yes please Mafia ? Of course Sassy FMC that can hold her own. Yes ma’am. SPICY SPICE ? Yes sir. Single dad, daughter’s teacher? SAY LESSS
I loved this book and the whole story was so well done. I cried, I screamed, I threw the book and then proceeded to get happy tears. If you read mafia and you’re into wolf shifters with some found family vibes and a very dominant man here is your next read. I’m so glad I got this book as an ARC to shout to anyone who will listen how much I enjoyed it.
My Solemn Vow by Jaeger Rose was a really great read!! One thing I love about reading a book from this author, is the feeling of everything being cohesive and feeling like there is an uninterrupted flow. We get that and more in this book! Valor is a single dad by day and a alpha, wolf shifter mafia information extractor by night. We are introduced to him and his adorable daughter as they are navigating life as the future alpha and head of the Irish mob. Next we meet Antonella, a woman stuck in an Italian mob family that sticks to antiquated beliefs while wanting more for herself. Then comes a lot of fake identities and saving a child from being kidnapped and viola, arranged marriage. We went very classic mob story with this one and I can't believe that this is something that I kind of missed. I feel like a lot of stories now, has the FMC being modest enough that they wait for awhile before they consummate the marriage. Which don't get me wrong, I like it, because it gives a lot of the characters depth but I have missed the near trauma bonding of having to show the sheets the next day. Very Victorian of me. So this pushed them together faster then some of the other mafia stories that I've read recently has and I really enjoyed that. I don't mean to reiterate this so much BUT it really has been a thing me recently. I loved that this story MADE SENSE. Like I know that that should be something that is normal for a story but there are many out there that just jump from one thing to another with no logical explanation and there is no flow. So the fact that we get this in spades in this story was nice. There was only hiccup and I will talk about that a little later in this review.
We get pack dynamics along with a dose of mafia brutality and I must say that these 2 sub genre's really mix well together. In a way I didn't expect. We get the loyalty of a pack along with the brutality of shifters brought to world that can be very dark and very dangerous. I have only read I think 1 series prior to this that managed to capture this perfectly like this story did. Antonella and Valor definitely felt like a really good match. Now on to the one hiccup. Remember how much I've been talking about flow...well the end portion of this book, really just hit a blip with it. The randomness of the situation that leads to Antonella being reasonably upset with Valor was really crazy. Up til the point this happens we pretty much believe that he trust his wolf and sense of smell and for him to just go berserk at that moment for the reasons given was a little...random? I mean I even scrolled back to make sure that I was not missing a chapter. It really just threw me for a loop how we went from one chapter to the next. Then if you are one for groveling...there didn't feel like there was enough for the extreme nature of the wrong doing. Like, the way that he should have groveled should have been chapters longer than it was. The ending felt very abrupt. I'm glad we got to where we were going but...wow that felt like a going on a random turn on a roller-coaster.
As for the spice, Jaeger Rose has never let me down and I was not let down with this book. The spice was very nice and wasn't too much. There was just the right amount of spice in this book. I gave this a solid 4 out of 5 for spice. Overall I enjoyed this journey into the mafia world with Valor and Antonella. I definitely think that anyone who has appreciated the books from this authors other pen name would enjoy this book as well. It still brings the shifters and their quirks to the mafia realm. I can't wait for more in this series!
Ooof. Ex f-ing scuse you, miss Jaeger ma'am. You do not get to write such beautiful morally grey characters and pull on my heart strings like that.
I'm not usually a fan of single parent romances, but Jaeger wrote a great story and a great dad. And most of all, a cute kid. Nobody is gonna tell Kerrianne not the be a part of a story. That little raptor was the cutest.
This is a dark romance that comes with a lot of trigger warnings and Jaeger and I have been talking about this book and how she was a little nervous I might not like Valor and his dark ways. GIRL YOU HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. This kind of morally grey is right up my alley. He was actually kind of really sweet. I was honestly expecting something darker.
If you've read anything by Sarah Jaeger / Jaeger Rose, you know that the smut will be good. Jaeger is a kinky b--ch and I love it. For a dark romance I actually thought the smut was a little too on the sweet side. Yes, I know, who would've thought I'd be asking for darker stuff after I didn't like the Finn and Lena dynamic. At least we now got the answer, it's Finn in particular that I didn't like, and not other overbearing protective dominant men. But honestly, Valor and Antonella could've been kinkier, this was almost vanilla compared to the stuff The Ardeleans get up to (looking at you Lena and Deacon 👀)
The wolfy, supernatural aspect of this book was a little weak. The overall plot was a little weak because we had too many things not quite fleshed out which was a shame. The romance and the overall relationships were perfect and carried this book, but the overall plot is just a bit meh. Especially with the plot twist, I needed more buildup to that. It felt a little sudden.
So anyway, great book, lovely characters, sad it wasn't longer. Jaeger just simply know how to hook me with her writing. I will always always aaaalwaaays read her books.
This book (ARC) was provided to me by the author before release date
This book had me absolutely hooked from start to finish! If you’re looking for the perfect blend of dark mafia romance and wolf shifters, My Solemn Vow delivers in every way. This story is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, except Juliet—aka Antonella (Toni)—isn’t just forbidden; she’s essentially sold to her family’s enemy. Instead of being the heir her idiot cousin will never be, she’s forced into a dangerous alliance with Valor, the brooding alpha next in line to lead his pack and family empire. His only goal? Protect his daughter at all costs. But when Toni’s cousin kidnaps Valor’s daughter, she risks everything to call for a truce. Now, she’s living under the enemy’s roof, and her life is hanging by a thread. Can she trust Valor to keep his word? Can Valor trust the woman raised by his enemies? Jaeger Rose masterfully weaves a world of danger, loyalty, and sizzling chemistry. Toni is an easy FMC to love—strong, smart, and just badass enough without being over the top. And Valor? Oh. My. God. This man is the definition of grumpy alpha goodness. If I were a wolf shifter, I’d be taking a bite of him at every opportunity. 🥵 The spice? 🔥 Perfectly balanced with the plot, delivering just the right amount of tension, passion, and oh wow, did that just happen? moments. And let’s talk about side characters! Valor’s daughter, Kerrianne, is an absolute scene-stealer—funny, sweet, and a total heart-melter. And Royal? I need a whole book about him ASAP. If you love mafia romance, wolf shifters, found family, and dominant men who fall hard, My Solemn Vow is a must-read. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, and I’m already counting down the days until book two. Don’t walk—RUN to grab this book!
🖤Length: 476 Pages 🖤Genre: Mafia Paranormal Romance 🖤Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🖤Violence: 🔥🔥🔥 🖤Editing: Nothing that pulled me from the story
Quotes: "The gentle touch of his lips on my forehead is unexpected and sends warmth through my body, and for a moment, I let myself want more".
"I’ve fallen in love with him"... "Valor Cavanagh is exactly the kind of man I was made for, and I’ll live or die by his side".
This book has all of my favorite genres; mafia, paranormal, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, single dad and then top it all off with a fierce FMC.
Valor Cavanagh (MMC) is a wolf shifter from the Irish mafia, single dad who has lost his mate and sworn off love. Antonella "Toni" D'Medici (FMC) a human teacher from an Italian mafia family; an outspoken, fierce female who insists on living life her way and unlike that of a mafia princess. Then one day she is forced to make a decision that ultimately pins her against her family. This decision results in an arranged marriage between her and Valor. Forcing them both into a life they never wanted. Both facing walls each have built and reinforced around themselves; walls they don't intend on letting the other through.
There's twists, turns, tension and suspense. And I was there for all of it. It doesn't leave you with a cliffhanger, but definitely has you wanting to continue on to the next book with the side characters. Definitely worth the read. I loved it!!
This book was so good! A modern day Romeo and Juliet but Juliet is essentially sold to the rival family and only hopes to survive. This Juliet, aka Toni, is a loving teacher who should be helping her idiot cousin run the family business but her family’s long standing views on women makes that impossible. Valor is in line to take over his family business and pack. All he wants is to be a good father and keep his daughter safe from their rivals. Everything is fine until Toni’s cousin decides he’s going to kidnap Valor’s daughter and Toni calls for the truce. Now her life hangs in the balance. Does Valor need the complications of a possible traitor living in his home, mothering his daughter? Can Toni trust he won’t disillusion e the truce in her sleep? Sarah did an amazing job in this dark mafia, shifter romance! Valor and Toni are a wonderful couple to get to know and the world Sarah builds for us is not only wonderfully written but dangerous and kept me on the edge of my seat. This book is the Sopranos meets 50 Shades! Have fun!!!
The beginning of the story was a bit slow for me, but once you get past the setup—around the end of the wedding—the pacing really finds its groove and things start moving quickly. There were definitely moments that made me a little squeamish (it is a dark mafia romance, after all!), but the author did a great job balancing vivid, detailed scenes without going overboard. The descriptions were intense when needed, but never felt excessive or gratuitous. While I’d describe this as a lust-forward story—especially with the male lead constantly saying he’s “falling in lust” with the heroine—it didn’t feel overdone. There was a solid balance between the romance, the plot, and the darker, violent moments. By the end, the tension was definitely ramping up as everything came to a head, and I found myself fully invested in how it would all play out. Overall, this was a compelling read, and I’ll definitely be adding more of this author’s books to my TBR.
Jaeger, these characters were emotional roller coaster rides! I love the fact that she was a teacher! She loved children ❤️ which she would love any that she would come into contact with! Now the person she married was a shifter! That was a nice surprise 😮 🫢 ☺️ I loved the fact they both tried their best to trust each other, which in all relationships it's hard to do. I so hope that there is more with this storyline cause it was basically like a cliffhanger ending. 😅😪 that's how my feelings are about that part! You should definitely read this book when you can since it's an amazing book! It's a five-star read cause of the storyline, the characters are loveable, the plot is thick, spice is off the chart with the characters, and cliffhangers, though, as always read your trigger warning ⚠️ 😉 🥵 💋 😏
(Mafia romance, werewolf romance, he's a werewolf and she's a human, arranged marriage, single dad, she's smart, strong and sassy)
Whoa. Wow.
This book had so many of my favorite romance genres and tropes...it was AMAZING. AH-MAZING! The story sucked me in from the very beginning and held me close by the throat. Every detail, every character, every interaction had me absolutely captivated.
I EAT up every werewolf romance where one character is a human and the other a werewolf. It's so freaking interesting to see how the big secret plays out and this book did this moment justice. Seriously, not just during the big werewolf reveal but I was saying YES at every twist, turn and moment even while being shocked and shooked to my core.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
The characters are well developed and relatable. The story is captivating and thrilling. The writing is beautiful and conveyed a wide range of emotions. This is everything I want and more in a werewolf romance.
What a rollercoaster this book sends you on. My first book by this author and I hope it won't be my last. Valor and Antonella's story is full of everything you could wish for and more. When Antonella puts her life on the line for Valor's daughter by calling for a truce between the two feuding families it sets off a chain of events that leave Toni married to Valor. As they try to find a balance Toni uses sass to help her get through it. The chemistry between the two of them is off the charts, but will it be enough. When Valor's big secret is revealed and Toni is accused of betrayal, decisions are taken that will have a long lasting effect. I absolutely loved this book. It is full of heat, steam, drama, sass and had me chuckling in several places. You could feel the emotions rolling off Toni and I really didn't want to put it down.
As a girl who loves wolf shifters and mafia romance, I devoured this book. Like forgot about other responsibilities and just read all morning kind of devoured. Now, over the course of reading, I had so many not nice things to say in regards to Valor 🤬, but watching him melt for Kerrianne caused me to melt just the same 🫠. While I loved watching Valor with his daughter and, of course, the chemistry between Valor and Antonella is off the charts 🔥. My favorite relationship in this book is quite possibly between Royal and his niece 😍. They are just so cute together. I want so much more of Royal, and here's to hoping we don't have to wait too long for it 🤞😘.
This is the first book that I have read by Jaeger Rose and it won’t be the last. This is an all encompassing read, that contains, action, romance and some extremely thrilling moments. This is some of the best writing I have read over the last 12 months. It tells a story of Antonella and Valor and how two people from apposing families end up having to marry. Antonella is a strong person and Valor respects that, whilst Valor does not trust easily and his history causes problems. I love the relationship between the two. The dialogue feels rich and evokes emotion. It feels real, raw and intense. This is a very good read and was so good that I could not put it down.
My Solemn Vow is a fantastic shifter mafia romance. Jaeger Rose is such a great story teller, writing such exciting characters and leaving you wanting more. I absolute loved Antonella. She is strong, independent and feisty. Valor is an overprotective single dad, that will do anything to keep his adorable daughter Kerrianne safe. Antonella & Valor have some serous off the charts chemistry, and are perfect for each other. I could not put this book down! And am looking forward to more books in this exciting new series.
This was a 4 star for me until the very end. Like what actually was that ending??
It felt so rushed. The betrayal by Valor was so weird — he can smell lies the whole time, and she’s supposedly his mate and he’s in love with her… but he immediately believes the Uncle whose had it out for Antonella the whole time? And the Antonella just forgives him right away?
The adoption papers at the end were also weird — they were so firm that she wasn’t going to replace Holly and then just completely reversed that.
Agh I’m so disappointed.

I'm really pleased with receiving an ARC for this book! I loved everything about this book - the pacing, the writing, the shifters, the world. The MCs compliment each other really well, especially towards the end, and the MMC is mostly swoon worthy in his love of his daughter. While I don't love a 3rd act breakup, I think the way this one was some was unique and moved the plot forward appropriately! Definitely will read more in this world and author!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Holy crap on a cracker! What a sensational read. Shifters 💜 Mafia 🖤 Jaeger Rose has written the perfect shifter/mafia romance combo.
I loved the FMC, Antonella. She's level-headed, with many sides to her. She really was a perfect fmc for me to fall in love with. Valor, oh Valor.🫠 What an MMC. He is soooo damn delicious.😋 If I was a wolf shifter, I'd be taking a bite of him every chance I got. 🥵
How is the spice you ask? I'd go for 🌶🌶🌶 spicy goodness. The book has a fine balance of plot and steam, and those scenes were definitely spicy. 😉
The story, plot, and awesome world building will keep you glued from page 1. The side characters are lovable. I could not get enough of Kerrianne, Valor's daughter. Such a cutie patootie.
My Solemn Vow is a must read! If you love shifter and mafia romance, then you gotta read it! You need to add Valor to your list of book boyfriends.
The second I heard about this, I ran to sign up for an ARC, and in so grateful I received one. Sarah Jaeger / Jaeger Rose writes in a way that completely wraps me up in the story and I find myself not wanting the books to end.
Valour and Antonella are both highly independent and strong people and I loved every second of their story and watching them fo from arranged marriage to falling in love / fated mates
soooo this totally would’ve been 4 stars but what the fuck happened at the end why the fuck did the author think that was ok i’m not forgiving valor and neither should antonella that was one of the most fucked up third act breakups, if you can even call it that, that i’ve ever read fuck this and fuck valor love royal for not putting up with that shit & the adoption papers at the end??? so strange after valor repeatedly said antonella wasn’t kerrianes mother like??? what actually happened
Loved this book! The plot, the chemistry between the main characters, the spicy scenes ✨✨ chef kiss 🤌🏼
The thing I liked the most was how the story developed during the book, I never got lost on what was happening and there was an actual development on the plot, I felt like I was watching an action spicy romance movie in my head haha
I really liked this dark romance. If you’re looking for sweet and gentle, you won’t get that from this man and I love it. Valor is sexy, protective, rough. Antonella is smart, sassy, and brave. These two together are amazing. The story is wonderful as usual from this author. I can’t wait for more!
I love a strong FMC. And this book has a really good one! She navigates difficult situations with such ease. I have total crush on her! And there are shifters! How fun!
I freaking loved this book and wanted to give it 5 stars, but I'm so sick of men doing horrible things and then being so easily forgiven. They need to earn that, especially with what Valor did. I loved everything else about this book.
I dont think Valor deserves forgiveness. He should rot in hell and be miserable his whole life. Why did she forgive him so easily and fast??? She should go and find a better guy because this one is a dumb sick fuck.
Amazing combo of arranged marriage and supernatural
I love a good arranged marriage story, but combined with a supernatural plot, I loved this book so much. There was so much character development, emotional moments, betrayal.
this book was going in a good direction but then this man literally goes and TORTURED her and then all it took for her to forgive him was 1 day in a cabin like bffr cause what
