The Eye Files

Rate this book
Inside a small, windowless room, major CEOs plot to kidnap and kill the President of the United States with the aid of an international assassin. A sociopathic, look-alike imposter is inserted in his place, someone with his own agenda.

Dr. Zach Webster, a Washington DC eye surgeon, notices a suspicious difference in the President’s eye exam and becomes a target. Along with the President’s daughter, Sarah, he must evade multiple assassins to discover the truth.

The Eye Files blends humor with excitement in this non-stop thrill-ride, from Maine to California and to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

This political thriller seems to have all the elements of a classic. There’s major political implications, suspense, selfish domineering ‘take over the nation’ types, innocent heroes and even a dog.
The premise is a take down of the USA president and an eye doctor gets caught in the middle due to an unexplainable diagnosis. Add a murderous mercenary and his team and the action begins to unfold.
It’s an interesting but naively developed premise making the fundamental plot not quite believable. Understanding that this is the author’s first work he must be congratulated for the coherent narrative and sustaining the interest with enough twists to keep the reader wondering.
Looking forward to the next effort!

Through word of mouth I ordered this novel and while I am not generally a fan of first novels, this one is truly the exception, it kept me riveted to my chair until I finished it! A very good thriller, well written with just the good rhythm , and the author manages to have a story featuring POTUS without allusions to current politics, he gives the reader a well deserved break. Is it a potential candidate for the Pulitzer Prize? Probably not and it is fine , its purpose is the entertainment of the reader ( me) , in and by itself this is the prize and he wins it. But Pulitzer or not it would make a hell of a good movie….

A great plot, action packed and a wry sense of humor - this book has it all. I don't typically read political thrillers but this one was fresh and fast-paced. I read it in 2 days and enjoyed every minute of it. I still can't believe this is a first novel - I'll be first in line to buy his next book.
