I felt for Taryn here. I’ve had the unfortunate circumstances of being in many jobs watching men in management positions harassing female staff and such. It’s really awful and uncomfortable, and never in my wildest dreams would I ever treat a woman in that way. The dating game is also a pigsty, from what I understand, so, again, I can’t imagine what women go through when they’re simply looking for a companion who doesn’t just want to bed them. But kudos to Camille Danciu for nailing the feelings and thoughts of our lead here through all those situations. The numbness, the repressed feelings, anger, and all of the various emotions made Taryn’s character depth something to behold. Now, I thought the pacing was a little off. I wanted to know Taryn a little more intimately, aside from her interactions with her victims. Time where she was alone with her thoughts, stewing and concocting her next move, even maybe struggling with some repressed memories or something that let the reader know how she became this unique type of vigilante. It would have broken up the somewhat repetitive cycle of work and dating that the story was based on. The ending had a twist, which seemed very random, but could have worked very well. It was just delivered too quickly and without much development beyond the surprise. Again, I wanted some additional context here and maybe some more content to bring it all full circle. But, overall, this was a strong effort by the author and a very enjoyable reading experience.

I was Intrigued by the description of this short story by author Camille Danciu.

A woman named Taryn is the lead character. She is now in her late 20s and single.

She has become very familiar with the sociopaths, psychopaths, physical dangers, and prevaricators that lurk in social media playgrounds as well as workplace situations.

She is adept at carefully researching her targets of all categories that prey upon unsuspecting women.

Some are also married and their mistreated wives are unaware these reprobates are players who mistreat their online dates and pickups as well.

Taryn, has had and seen enough. Her primal blood rage has made her become a specialized killer.

She has given herself a License to kill with the skill worthy of a 00 agent.

I have to admit this horror story had some very dark but satisfying humorous twists.

The line "The female of the species is more deadly than the male" comes from the 1911 poem "The Female of the Species" by Rudyard Kipling.

Perhaps this may be true.

“Taryn's single, beautiful, child free, and in her mid twenties. Dating should be easy right? Wrong.”

What would you do if you ran into the same type of man every date you had. The type of man that most women run into their dating life. Well you do what Taryn does and plan a murder. The murders are always planned once she has a date. But this time one of her victims doesn’t die and she starts to worry what will happen once the victims wakes up.

I’d like to say it doesn’t happen often, but that would be a lie. I know an ON SIGHT book when I see one, and On Behalf of All Women was screaming to be found. With probably my fastest found-ordered-read-enamored rate to date, I couldn’t wait to get into this one.

Quick Synopsis:
Taryn is tired of disappointments in life. There’s so many that go unchecked that are out of our control. Even when it comes to dating. So she figures out what she can’t control, she can at least help the odds for the next would-be victims. Now shes out to cleanse the world of letdowns, one date at a time.

I’m so glad I found Camille Danciu and this amazing book. From start to finish, I was here for the scathing observations, the shady descriptions, and the very real sounding scenarios. I had my “good for her” cupcake ready and waiting from the first chapter. I loved the originality of the story and the ease I had gelling with Camille’s writing. She’s definitely going to be an ON SIGHT buy/read from here on out, especially if this is just the beginning. I highly recommend this one if you want some satisfying femme rage that doesn’t follow tropes and carves its own path in the chests of its victims.

Don't mess with this book...or Taryn.

I feel really bad because I actually requested a copy of this -- I was so pumped! The story sounded excited, the marketing was great... but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I have waited to write this so I could find the right words so I am forgetting some of the smaller details BUT this FMC just clearly hates men, which is not what I thought I was signing up for. I thought we would see something bad happen that would set her on the path promised, but instead, her inner monologue is just pure hatred. I don't want to get into specifics, because I don't want to spoil anything, but yeah, the first 10% wasn't it for me. I see so many positive reviews and posts on Facebook about it, which I am happy to see for this absolute lovely author. It's not my cup of haterade though.

Feminine rage is valid, but this feels like arrogant abuse of power in the name of sisterhood.

Extreme misandry with improbable cause to justify the killings. A main character that becomes unlikable from taking so many risks before being absolutely certain (and having her actions conveniently be justified while she's already made her reflexive decision, conveniently followed by sheer luck sometimes that "the guy is a douchebag" and there couldn't possibly be more to the story, let's just kill him). Such a narrow black-and-white scope of morality that also completely neglects cheaters on the female (or other gender identifying sides), and stoops below a morality of common sense in general. There are so many loose ends to her leaving DNA behind. She says she watches so many criminal shows, however, leaves blood and mess everywhere.

While the killings themselves are creative, I struggled with the justifications and writing. I suppose this is my equality misanthropy speaking up. If this were written from a male pov, it wouldn't be given the same blind praise.

A pretty good novella of a young woman and the female rage she regularly unleashes on the men in her life. Dark and darkly funny, Taryn’s mission in life is a kind of Maeve Fly crossed with Dexter as she joyfully goes about setting up and ending men who she believes use and abuse women.

Downgraded a bit only because I felt it was written too quickly and could have done with a bit more expansion of the main character’s motivation. Yes, it’s there, and it’s also surprisingly not the ‘abused at some point in her life’ motivation you’d usually get, but it could have been… elaborated on a bit more and been more effective.

Also downgraded just from the sheer amount of editing and formatting issues that were, unfortunately, just too numerous and exceedingly distracting for me to overlook.

Otherwise, a good story from an author I’d definitely read again.

My thanks to the author for the advance review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I read this in one sitting because I simply had to see where things were going to go for our MC, Taryn.

“It's always the ones you never wanted in the first place who become the biggest regret and embarrassment. Bothering you nonstop just to end up being a piece of shit.”

Taryn has met her fair share of monsters cloaked in skin, and we witness her taking the power back for herself and for other/would-be victims.

“He was growing on her. She could not decide if the growing was like fungus or flowers yet.”

This story kept me invested from page one and right to the end. Lots of karmatic slayings, several gut-wrenching surprises and an ending that was both unexpected and gratifying. Definitely recommend.

On Behalf Of All Women by Camille Danciu
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I absolutely love this novella! It is such a fun and entertaining dark story.
The story follows a woman Taryn and her escapades with finding men on-line. She then goes on dates with them in order to enact her deadly revenge on each man! Things take a strange twist when Taryn falls for a male co-worker!
This story is truly fantastic! I loved every minute of it and didn’t want to put it down! Even though it’s a short story, it has a very original and detailed storyline. The writing is excellent also!
I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Thank you to Camille Danciu for an ecopy of this awesome book!

*It’s out now and I definitely recommend grabbing this for a fun and quick read!*

Okay this was hilarious! I couldn't help but laugh at Taryn's utter disgust for men. It was such a fun read. The ending was maybe a little predictable, but I couldn't help but thinking, "Hell yeah!" I loved this and I will be recommending it to everyone.

The idea was pretty good. Woman hates all men, takes out the terrible ones, etc. but it's not very descriptive. Its more like the first outline of a good book.
I'm interested to see what else the author will come out with. The ideas are there, just need some tweaking and flushing out the story a bit more.

While I enjoyed the novels idea I feel it wasn’t executed brilliantly and lacked a lot of detail and explanation. Taryn has a little back story that explains her actions but nothings explored very deeply. It also felt very “deus ex machina” as she continuously got away with murders and was never linked to the men or caught.

I'm 50/50 on this one. Let's go with 3.5 stars

On the one hand, it's completely unrealistic. Which, duh, she's a woman out here murdering men, ofc it's unrealistic. But what's REALLY unrealistic is how careless she is about it and yet never seems to get caught? Or even listed as a suspect? Like, she's using a dating app to find these men... it's very easy to backtrack through those kinds of apps to find suspects/persons of interest.

On the other hand, it was a good read. The chapters are extremely short which makes it feel like you're breezing right through the book. The different ways she kills these men are interesting and entertaining. She does have a reason for why she does it, albeit a very shallow reason. She wasn't abused or anything like that- she just straight up hates men and thinks they're trash 😂

The editing had some major issues and was severely lacking. But I believe this is a pretty new/small-time author, so it's possible she edits her own stuff 🤷🏼‍♀️

My final thoughts- it's worth the read. Especially since it's so short.

I LOVE TARYN. She is the ultimate girl’s girl. On Behalf of All Women is full of rage and the perfect read for those who have been harassed and hurt by men. Taryn is working incredibly hard to provide women a safer & more peaceful world to live in. I will be rereading this book regularly and am so excited to read more from Camille.

A Darkly Comic Tale of Female Rage
Review: On Behalf of All Women
My Verdict: Fun. Funny. Great Pilot. Gimme Episode 2.

Today, I want to talk about the second book I found because of my time in BoH. One day, while scrolling as per usual, I see the badass cover art (great job by Ruth Anna Evans). From the title and art alone, I said, “Ooo, what is this?”
The featured comment below the post had somebody complaining it was unrealistic that a woman would be physically capable of killing all those men, followed by a reply from the book’s author, very politely explaining the commenter seemed to have not followed the story, but in a really encouraging tone. I said to myself, “Self, I fuck with that energy. Self, make a mental note to pick up On Behalf of All Women.”
Now this was before I discovered the magic of e-books, and I was kind of broke (was, hell, still am), so I tell myself, “We’ll see when we can afford a couple of books.” Then I discovered it on e-book for a price too damn good to pass up, so I snatched it up like Sunday hotcakes at church breakfast.
No buyer’s remorse here. The book practically read itself, and I am not lying when I say there were multiple points where I busted up laughing out loud. There is a section where the main character, Taryn, goes on a diatribe about all of the different stereotypes of awful men one might encounter online, and I thank God Danciu had the heart to stop the section where she did, because I might not be here with you today, as I would have deceased from laughter-induced suffocation. (One particular description of a stereotypical awful dude may have hit a little too close to home but was also the funniest. I won’t be sharing which one here.)
If I had to do an elevator pitch for On Behalf of All Women, I would pitch it like this: “Imagine a gory rom-com version of American Psycho meets Dexter, but our main character doesn’t just kill other killers (she does), but all the awful men she finds on Tinder.”
That is what I wanted anyway, and I feel like Danciu delivered superbly. There is an interesting dichotomy in the way the book alternates between slice-of-life moments for Taryn’s daily encounters and the more juicy, gruesome nightlife scenes where Taryn stalks her prey. I liked the juxtaposition, especially as Taryn starts to soften toward one of her co-workers.
To the person who said it wouldn’t have been possible for Taryn to overpower any of these men, did you read the book? Or did you see the title, assume correctly it was about a man killer, then assume incorrectly that the story featured instances of a woman winning wrestling matches against dudes much bigger than her? The character is very cunning and calculated and rarely relies on brute force to get the upper hand. The one time someone almost gets the drop on her, she blows his balls off with a pistol, so even then, not very likely the guy was going to get the best of her.
Before I get more detailed, I want to say this: if anything of what I have described sounds fun or exciting to you, just go read it. It's fun. It's short and digestible. I can’t imagine you wouldn’t at least have a good time reading it. My only real complaint is that some of the tension around Taryn’s safety didn’t land for me, but the final reveal was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait for the next installment (I keep hinting at another episode because I am fairly certain I saw Danciu teasing a sequel, and I’m tryna’ read it).
If you are interested in reading, stop here because I might be getting a little spoiler-y after this. For those who have already read it, or those who don’t care about spoilers, I’m still going to do my best not to give everything away, but I want to talk about a few quick things.
The prologue had its pros and cons. The pro being, I liked reading it, and it worked to get me excited to read the rest of the book. Cons: I knew exactly who the prologue referred to within the first couple of pages. See, I still don’t want to name anyone, because maybe I am just good at guessing. The other con being, the prologue was a great bit of prose, and I did get excited when I saw it again, but it maybe robbed the moment of some of its poignance?
So, my only other complaint, it’s small because I can’t stop seeing this as the beginning of a series, and I feel like it could easily be addressed at any time. Ok, so. I was never scared for Taryn. Even though I totally empathized with her, especially the more we got to know her, my empathy for Taryn never got used against me. Mostly, this applies to one scene, where she gets a sixth sense that the guy she is stalking is maybe more of a real monster than the rest. The one time she could have been in danger, she handles it without much incident, which is definitely great for illustrating how capable and prepared she is, but after the buildup where we start to sense this guy is dangerous, I thought there’d be a little more drama.
I liked the arrival of the cake. The secret fan angle was fun. Again, not threatening, more curious and intriguing. I get how it would feel scary or upsetting for Taryn for someone to know your secret, but immediately my gut feeling was that this person was definitely on her side. I did quite enjoy when the admirer’s identity was revealed, and it’s part of the reason why I am so excited to see the follow-up.

The Feminine Urge to Commit Quality Control 🔪💋

On Behalf of All Women by Camille Danciu is what happens when rage meets routine. It’s a short, sharp revenge fantasy that reads like a group chat gone homicidal — and honestly, that’s a compliment.

Taryn is single, gorgeous, over it, and done pretending to find “the good ones.” Instead, she starts a personal re-education program for men who mistake entitlement for personality. Her logic is flawless: if “hitwoman for terrible men” were a job, she’d have tenure.

At its best, this book is pure catharsis: witty, petty, and deliciously mean. Lines like “It’s always the ones you never wanted in the first place who become the biggest regret” or “He was growing on her. She could not decide if the growing was like fungus or flowers yet” nail that perfect blend of grim humor and feminist fatigue. I laughed, I nodded, I briefly checked local homicide laws.

But the problem is volume, not message. For such a short novella, there’s too much repetition — endless ruminations on male mediocrity that start to feel like déjà vu. Danciu’s vocabulary of rage could use expansion; by page 40 I wanted fresh insults, new creative methods of gender-based disposal, maybe even a chainsaw of poetic justice. The kills are fine, but the wit should be sharper.

I also wanted more of her: the woman behind the knife. Who was Taryn before she became a cautionary tale with good lipstick? What broke her, besides the obvious? There’s space here for depth — grief, humor, even joy in destruction — but the book keeps skimming the surface like a very fashionable skipping stone.

Still, I can’t say I didn’t have fun. It’s dark, fast, and satisfyingly pissed off. A 45-minute power read you can knock out between disappointments.

Verdict: 3.5 / 5. A fun, flawed little scream into the void. Needed more variety, less echo — but it’s hard not to root for a woman doing the Lord’s work with a knife and a smirk.

For more feral, funny feminine fury:
They Never Learn by Layne Fargo — academic justice turned serial killing.
I Hope You Have Nightmares About Me by Sonora Taylor — revenge turned performance art, brief but brutal.
You’d Look Better as a Ghost by Joanna Wallace — wry, stylish sociopathy with a scalpel-sharp sense of humor.
