so I get this book because was intrigued with the blurb, and I kept thinking I have to get to it and I see all of these 5 star reviews in goodreads so here I am excited and then I start, and kept saying is this the same book that got all of those stars? So I go back to goodreads and yup all those stars are there, and I go to the front of the book and yup I am reading the right book, let me read some more it has to get better right? Well I wont give it a 2 star I dont think its as bad for a 2 star but it definitely will not get a more than 3. I found it ridiculous, Alicia annoyed the hell out of me, I mean I get you got out of an abusive relationship and yes he may not have beat you but he did put you down, and yes your bestie the person you knew the longest betrayed you. But as I continued to read she didn't break up with her fiance recently it was a year ago, so when she kept letting that hold her back, I was questioning it right along with her friend Tari and Aiden, we didn't get it, I also didn't get why Quinn even bothered with her. And, it wasn't like she didn't have clues to her bestie, apparently before her mom died she warned her, and Tari and Aiden who also grew up with them didn't like her, so why was she blindsided?..So the book ends in a cliffhanger, and yes I got to the end of the book, I mean have you ever read a book that you kept saying it'll get better but it doesn't, yeah that was me with this book, so do I care what the heck happens with the rest of the story and Blackheart? Hell to the no, I am getting off of this ride.

I enjoyed this story, not just for the romance, but also the family camaraderie. I would love to belong to the Blackhart family. They poke fun at each other and get a little crazy, but when things get tough, they jump in to have each other’s backs. Quinn was definitely swoon-worthy and rather romantic. I wish his style of protection didn’t include constantly keeping Alicia in the dark. To me it effected the flow of the story. I didn’t warm up to Alicia right from the start, she was too deep into her past for me to relate to. But I understood her more as information was doled out and her personality began to come through. I’m glad, because then I was more invested in them both and cheered as they moved into a very sexy love-story. I also need to mention that the mysterious background story had me happily guessing until the end. I do wish more information was shared with the reader throughout the story because someone would get a call, faces were grim, then they rushed off to god knows where. Plopping the reader into the next scene to wait for the information to be shared. That is why I rated it a 4 and not a 5. Overall I loved the book and can’t wait for the next one.

I can’t finish it. First, the staccato first person style made it hard for me to read. “I did this. I did that. I did this.” No transition words to help the flow. It made it irritating to read. The story seemed interesting enough to keep trying though, so I pressed on.

Seconds, no attention to detail. The sister and her husband are shot and in the hospital. Quinn is the oldest of 5, with his sister being the youngest. His sister’s oldest kids are 16 yr old twins. So, I’m thinking the sister must be around 36, maybe 34 if she was pregnant at 17. That would make Quinn over 40 as the oldest of 5. Then on page 80 we learn Quinn is 35, which means his baby sister is at the most 30 if their mom popped a kid out every year. Which would make her 14 when those 16 yr old kids were born. So either she was a very young teenaged mom, which isn’t mentioned yet, or they are step-kids. However, the husband grew up with Quinn’s brothers, so he would have also been a teen dad when they were born.

Everyone seems to be ignoring the sloppy details that make no sense because the author was dead set on the heroine being a driving instructor. Blue Sapphire could have gotten the same story that made more sense by making her a teacher and the kids 10. Kids that age can be very astute.

Then there is the hero being overbearing and comes on strong because of how lovely the heroine is. He kept using his body to manhandle her and trap her in elevators and against cars, it was a bit creepy. She keeps saying no and he keeps physically forcing her to stay near him by grabbing her arm or waist or hand. All because she is so lovely, in the early stages he is doing this he doesn’t even know her personality yet! Not really.

Despite all that I still wanted to finish the book to see who done it, but upon reading these reviews I see The Who done it part isn’t resolved in this book. So the last remaining reason I would try to finish this book it gone. How it got such high praise baffles me and makes me concerned for the quality of novels today.

Calling on Quinn is the first book in the Blackhart series. In book 1 Quinn, who is the eldest Blackhart, first priority is keeping his family safe. So when tragedy strikes he will do anything to make sure that no one he cares about will ever be hurt again. Now that he's met Alicia Rhodes and he can't get her off of his mind, she's included in the group of those he loves and anyone who's her enemy has now become his .
Alicia Rhodes has had a hard couple of years and is just starting to feel like her normal self again. When she meets Quinn Blackhart she's not sure if she can handle all of what he's offering. Lucky for her Quinn knows that she can, and he won't give up until she know it too. Nothing worth having is ever easy, and Quinn and Alicia will find that out but hopefully the both of them will also realize that what they have is worth fighting for.
Calling for Quinn is thrilling ride of mystery and danger, but also has some passionate love scenes which made for a engaging read. The hero and heroine are both fighting their own battles and even though Alicia's sometimes self doubt could be a little annoying, I enjoyed getting to know the both of them along with the colorful and entertaining supporting characters. After meeting the other Blackhart men in book 1, I can only hope that book 2 comes along sooner rather than later because I can see this family getting into all kinds of sometimes serious but in the end fun loving trouble and I would like to be along for the ride.

1.0⭐️ Och, I had a wee problem with this book. I love books with Irish brogue/accented speech. But ya know, I usually don’t encounter much of this in American born men in contemporary romances. Aye, ya know. I picked up the book. I sat down in my comfy chair. I started to read the book. Och, something is missing. My wine. It’s missing. Och, I am so forgetful. But first I must say good night to my niece, ya know. Och, what a beautiful wee lass, she is.

Och, I stopped at the 7% mark, ya know. Notice the stilted sentences coupled with the never-ending Irish brogue . . . .

It’s Okay

First I usually love the stories by the author and have almost all of her books. This story just didn’t do it for me. It was okay at best and the price doesn’t equate to the book depth. I don’t like giving negative reviews so I’m on the fence with this one. I would prefer if Blue finishes up on existing series before starting another. I wonder sometimes if the last stories are her the “voice” of these stories seem different and not like her earlier books. Quinn and Ali relationship felt rushed and their relationship didn’t click IMO. I do like the idea of the hero being slightly imperfect with the heroine having her own issues. It’s unfortunate I didn’t feel the connection in the book. It’s really a 2 1/2 star for me but giving it a 3 because I have hope things will change in her next book.

Calling on Quinn is the first book in Blue Saffire’s Blackheart Brothers series, and also my first read by this author. I was drawn in by the story synopsis with its promise of suspense and family ties too. On this note, I got what I expected, but I was not totally in love with the cast of characters. While I fully understood the difficulties of Alicia’s past and her history of abuse, I began to sympathise as the story went on, as this woman needed to grow up and move forward, if she truly wanted to change her life. I honestly didn’t understand why Quinn even wasted his time on her. That aside, the story concept was good, and the series has a lot of potential. I’ll wait to see if I continue after I’ve read book two.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the first in a new series and I will definitely be looking out for future installments, as the Blackhart Brothers are most definitely worth reading about! The world building is done very effectively, and we get fully immersed in all things family and business.

Alicia has not had the happiest of times, and has decided that other than her two very best friends and roommates (who are fun) she will not be trusting anyone for a good long while. So when she meets Quinn and immediately feels a strong attraction, she is annoyed with herself, and reluctant to accept any of the advances he makes. But Quinn has set his heart on winning her over and it is great fun watching the two of them dance around each other.

Quinn is a list maker and the family organiser. He and his brothers are deep in an investigation following the shooting of their sister and brother-in-law. Having Alicia on his mind is distracting, and even becomes part of the mystery. I really liked that he made time for her, but also did answer his phone and did sort out work issues, so that Alicia recognised that he was a serious man. I enjoyed when she surprised him, and that he was more entranced, rather than judgmental as she expected.

The only thing which I did not enjoy, and it is absolutely a personal issue, is that I do not enjoy having to read thick dialected speech. I completely understand that the Irish brogue was totally in keeping, but it slowed down my reading, as I had to slowly work it out, and that drew me out of the story a bit. As I say, nothing to do with the story itself, but just a personal preference.

Looking forward to finding out what the deal is with Kevin ... and following the underlying investigation.

Quinn Blackhart, as the head of his family PI firm, is used to calling the shots and getting results. Known as the family fixer, he is a man of action and doesn’t stop until he gets the desired outcome… so when Alicia brushes him off, he doubles down on his efforts. The chance encounter with his niece’s driving instructor has thrown him for a look and he won’t rest until she admits its done the same to her!

Alicia Rhodes is recently out of an emotionally abusive relationship and is working on getting financially stable again after her friends mismanagement coasts her her home. She doesn’t have time for a new man - she needs to work on her self. But when strange occurrences keep putting her in danger, her new man, Quinn is the only one she can turn to for help.

This was. Romantic suspense that wraps around both characters like a scarf- puling them tightly together. I enjoed the mystery aspect of the suspense and was surprised by the resolution ini the end.

The character of Alicia has been emotionally abused and manipulated by her former partner and her best friend. She has major self-esteem issues, but hero Quinn is extremely supportive and handles her with kid gloves until she is more comfortable in her own skin and can see the gaslighting for what it was.

The book got pretty steamy when these two finally come together with some hot and sexy scenes. The sparks between them leap off the page!

The end of the book wraps up the story of Quinn and Alicia very nicely while setting up the opening of the next book in the series, In Deep, about Kevin Blackhart and Danita Moralez.

Calling on Quinn by Blue Saffire was released in February 2020.

Wow! This is my first read by this author and it won't be my last! The feels for this book, awwwww just the feels for Quinn are beyond explanation. I FREAKING LOVED IT!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO....Just so amazingly awesome. Quinn is the right type of man, who is always right on time and loves you so hard, you can't help but fall for him and that is what Alicia did. Alicia had her own hardships and I am glad, though a bit resistant at first, she did not let those emotions take over. In the end she is able to be the person she wants to be with him and their love is solid and everlasting. This book is filled with 4 brothers who after a tragedy, befalls their sister, pull their reins in tight and fight to find out who attempted to murder her. I love the brothers, Kevin, Shane, and Trenton and cannot wait for their books. However, Quinn, has stolen my heart, what a perfect mate! There is still a bit of suspense left at the end and it looks like Kevin's book is next. I CANNOT WAIT! 5 WONDERFUL, AWESOME, LIST NEEDING STARS*****

The Blackhart Series

Well I'll say it surely started this series off with a bang. The 2 things Ms Blue has done that will keep me staying a fan, is how she spaced the time between meeting and "getting together". The other is Quinn was perfectly imperfect. Cause that's how real people are. Everyone can't be beautiful and perfect.....

Interesting premise but I loathed how the hero was portrayed, in particular the use of the accent as a character trait. That just seemed forced, and it was frustrating to read after a few pages. I also felt like the initial interaction between the hero and heroine was contrived and didn't really convince me there was chemistry there. DNF, and I won't be continuing with the series.

Wow!!! If I could insert an emoji right here it would be the huge eyed one with the mouth wide open... you know the one wide enough for Quinn's... lol. I absolutely LOVED Quinn and Alicia's story. Blue Saffire sucked me in with her incredible words. Quinn is a private investigator, who stopped at nothing when it came to the pursuit of Alicia, once they met. Their chemistry was INSANE. Quinn was direct and consistent... swoon! Don't you just love a man that is sure about what he wants and will go after it.

The Blackhart family is Irish and Quinn is the oldest son. "I want to taste ya, love." I can just imagine hearing his delicious accent. Quinn's loyalty and dependability towards his family was endearing. Alicia has suffered loss and is a strong woman coming into her own again. Her best friends Tari and Aiden were hilarious in their support of their friend. I was hooked on this story from the beginning, so much so that by midpoint, I had to jump in Blue's inbox and give her all the praise.

I loved the closeness within the Blackhart family. The secondary characters will make you love this story even more, especially Quinn's witty mother Renny. We meet Quinn's brothers: Kevin, Trent, and Shane. Ach I look forward to the stories on those sexy brothers of his (said in my Irish accent lol). Let me tell you, I know right now this is the beginning of a legendary series. Each brother is assisting with an ongoing case that is threatening the Blackhart family, giving this story a suspenseful element that I loved.

Blue Saffire is the Queen of world-building. I was overjoyed that this exquisite story is going to also be on audio, as I want all versions of Blue's words. "Don't hold back. Give me what I'm craving. I want it all." Yassss you're going to want to hear those words, in that sexy accent, on audio. I'm addicted to Blue Saffire's artistry. Experience the Blue Magic for yourself. Begin this epic series NOW!!!

M/F Romance and mystery
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Quinn comes from a large, Irish family and he takes his responsibilities serious. His lists throughout the story endear him to you and that accent is just delicious. I really enjoyed watching Quinn pursue Alicia. He was determined and left nothing to chance. But, when his sister is seriously injured too, he'll have to decide if he can change his ways just a little to make sure that everyone around him is safe.

Alicia has had a rough year. However, I absolutely love her character. She's strong and determined and didn't let her past wilt her spirit. She is quite hilarious on the job and I really enjoyed her close friends.

Quinn and Alicia have an attraction that extends beyond the physical. They see each other and just get each other. It's a connection that you can feel on the pages. I really enjoyed watching Alicia and Quinn figure out their relationship. It was real and down to earth for a mystery romance.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series and really hope we get to see these brothers in action.

Alicia and Quinn are absolutely swoon worthy. I loved that Quinn didn’t stop chasing Alicia even from her many rejections because it made their love stronger. They had a beautiful bond when together, so I guess it’s true when they say opposites attract. I read very slowly so I didn’t have to finish but all good things must come to an end. Overall, lovely book by Blue Saffire.

Quinn is a man set in his ways. The main thing that keeps him sain is his list-making and sticking to them. Coming from a large Irish family, he knows what it means to protect his family. When he takes his niece for a driving lesson, the instructor has Quinn all tongue-tied and he wants to get to know her. But when she puts him in his place, this just makes Quinn more interested in knowing her.
Alicia is having a bad day but when she shows up late for her driving lesson with Mckenna, she didn't expect the gorgeous man to step out of the car. Quinn has her flustered for a minute until she catches herself and puts him in his place. She thinks she will never see him again but he keeps coming back in her dreams.
Can Quinn win Alicia over? Will Quinn with all his protectiveness be too much for Alicia? Can Quinn keep her and his family safe? Who is after Alicia and who hurt his sister?

Good but I wanted more.

When driving instructor Alicia meets the uncle (Quinn) of one of her driving students, he’s instantly taken with her and he doesn’t give up on his chase of her.

I liked a lot about this book, I loved Quinn, he was just so sweet and straight up about what he wanted. Alicia was good too but man I wished she would’ve found her confidence earlier, her being in her head and insecurities started to her old after awhile. Her best moments were in her shop with Heaven and her car driving. I would’ve liked to see more of that.

What I didn’t love was the overarching mystery. Neither felt satisfying in the end. Whatever was going on with brother in law’s case never seemed as important as we were told it was because it was in the background and then all of a sudden Alicia has a separate problem. I wish that would’ve played a larger part in the story.

Enjoyable read, check it out!

An enjoyable contemporary romance, set in America, well written, reasonable characters and pretty well written, hot sex.

Alicia had recently lost her parents when she hooked up with a nasty, gaslighting piece of work who is now her ex. Still, she is doing ok for herself, trying to live a self-affirming life is perhaps easier when you live with your two best friends and have a driving instructor business to sink your concentration into. Our leading lady starts down the path of seduction when she arrives to give a student a lesson and finds that the student's uncle instead of her mother will be accompanying them.

The uncle in question is Quinn, member of a large and very close family who also runs the family Private Investigator business with his brothers. Their sister and her husband have just been gunned down outside their house which has all the Blackhart brothers behaving like ants whose nest has been stirred with a stick. Despite this, he is instantly attracted to his neice's hot driving instructor and we go from there.

Things I liked; I liked Alicia a great deal, the overall concept was good and the writing at it's baseline was fun.
Things I was underwhelmed by; Quinn seemed a bit underdone as a character, to me. The notion that Quinn has a strong Irish accent but none of his siblings do had me scratching my head (is that even a real thing that happens in America? Or is it just a nod to the fact that so many people find the Irish accent alluring?). The number of brothers (all amazingly hot) just means that one can predict a whole series of books as each one of them gets hitched, that sort of thing leaves me very meh.

The ending. I really was not keen on the ending, because there was not really one. The person who had been doing the nasty stuff to Alicia was a crazy ex-friend. I have no idea how that was meant to relate to the Blackhart sister shooting? Or even was it? If not, there was no ending at all. Except that Quinn and Alicia start having kids. I guess that is an ending to them, but there was so much more to the plot that never went anywhere. And some secondary character vanishes, that appears to tie in to the REST of the plot but maybe it is just a teaser for the NEXT novel where another brother gets hitched.... All just too vague to count as a good ending.

Also, the level of insta-love, at least from Quinn is what it is. You either can go with it, or you won't love this book. But the second he sets his eyes on Alicia he wants to marry her. I mean.... chemistry can be an amazing thing, you either like this type of writing or you don't.

Right from the start of reading this book the characters were familiar. When I delved Ito my previous reading I found I had read Kevin's book back in2022. It seems she is going to rewrite the series because she was not satisfied with its direction and trajectory at the time. However having read Kevin's book from then it leant some continuity to what was happening in this book. You can't help but love the Blackheart family. There is a closeness in their bond that most of us don't experience. One reviewer wrote of the odd age discrepancies which I didn't take note of till reading the review. It is a pretty big mistake though. Alicia has allowed her self esteem to sink below believing she has any self worth, despite being a successful business woman. In this trope as in many others that I read, the MFC decides to grow a backbone and do something about her existence at exactly the wrong time. Despite barely escaping a harrowing car chase, and being aware that Quinn is protecting his family and loved ones from some undetermined group that attempted to murder his sister and brother in law, she neglects to inform him of threatening texts she has been receiving and then ditches her bodyguard. I hope I don't ever meet a female that makes such a poor decision and considers herself to be smarter than the entire rest of those involved, who in general have more knowledge than she does. If there is to be a rewrite of Kevin's story and also development of the rest of the brothers I look forward to it.

Adoration of an Alpha Male:
First in the series, this book introduces a rowdy, yet close and loving Irish American family. Quinn is the oldest of the siblings and makes it his job to find solutions and protect those whom he loves. He soon sets his sights on Alicia and pursues her with dogged determination. However Alicia has been hurt in the past and she has difficulty trusting and opening herself up to love again. The plot was well paced and liked the anticipation and slow burn. Things soon heat up though and turn scorching hot.
There was also an element of suspense and intrigue which kept me interested and guessing. However the novel focused more on the relationship aspect and facts regarding the investigation were just inserted every now and then rather than drawing a clear and systematic trail for the reader to follow. Whilst it could be read as a standalone, the investigation into the attack is not resolved and looks to be something that will be followed up on throughout the series. I can't wait now to read the next books to see what happens and also to learn more about these sexy Irish lads and the ladies who capture their hearts.
Despite all the positives, one thing that I didn't like and thought was rude and disrespectful was the way one of Alicia's best friends called her 'heifer'.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

3.00 Stars. (BW/WM) Audible audiobook narrated by More Brehon and Richard Sawyer. Insta lust. Quinn Blackhart is the eldest of the Blackhart brothers and their closely knit Irish family. Quinn owns a Private Investigation firm and is leading the investigation into the culprits who attacked his sister and her husband resulting in their being in the hospital near death. The heroine, Alicia Rhodes, is a good friend of Quinn's sister and is his nieces driver instructor. Alicia lost both her parents a couple of years back and is about 6 months past a failed engagement. She receives a lot of support from her female and male best friends and her driving school is doing well. Alicia and Quinn meet at the end of one of Quinn's niece's driving lessons and there's an immediate and mutual sexual attraction between Quinn and Alicia...Quinn is determined to pursue and win Alicia , Alicia is determined to resist and foil any of his advances. The storyline drags with the weight of Quinn's earnest pursuit of Alicia and with Alicia being resceiptive of a sexual romantic relationship in one chapter followed by a reluctance and rehashing of her failed relationship with her ex-fiance in the next chapter or two. In addition to this there's a crime against Quinn's family to be solved. Generally, the story is okay; but the heroine is annoying and causes the reader to loose interest in hers and Quinn's relationship.

If you're looking for the luck of the Irish, look no further! Quinn is just book one of a clan of alpha Irishmen who will be sure to sweep readers into their world. This book is packed with distinct characters, and a mystery that potentially will span over multiple books if not the whole series. If book one is any indication of what's to come then we are in for a wild ride!

It actually took me a little bit to get into the book at first due to it being from the H/h's POV and the dialogue. I feel like it would be nice to have a glossary for the Irish language used as I didn't always understand what was being said. That said, I loved that the characters seemed to remain true throughout the whole book. The author did a great job of making distinct characters that the reader can really get a feel for. I really liked the main story line of finding out who tried to murder Quinn's sister and brother-in-law, the second story line I felt was a rushed in the end to wrap things up and didn't mesh well. This was the only time I felt like one of the characters did stray from who I thought they were.

Overall, I would recommend this series and I'm excited to see what comes next for our dear Blackhearts!

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel via Netgalley and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

The first book in the Blackhart Brothers series, follows Quinn Blackhart as he and his brothers race to figure and find out who shot-down his sister Erin and her husband Cal. Quinn is the oldest of the five Blackhart siblings and likes his life structured, but in walks Alicia Rhodes. I don't think Quinn was ready for her and he will have his hands full trying to lock her down for a more permanent position in his life. This relationship isn't without its ups and downs and there more ups than downs. The author has written this story in such a way all of the characters become not only endearing but a part of you. As much as Quinn becomes my hero, Alicia is my shero. She is a bad...shut your mouth!

Oooo child, when her ex-best friend came into her place of business, she handed her the business. Heck I wanted to beat her back to birth and change her name from Heaven to Hell. How in the world that chick thought Alicia owed her anything is beyond me, girl needs some serious old school can of whoop a$$et therapy.

As a visual reader this book played out in my mind like a movie. A well written story and I can't wait to see (read) what this author has in store for the rest of this series.

Morae Brehon should not be allowed to narrate another audiobook. Banned.
At minimum banned from doing any type of accent.
This book was imperfect but the type of pandering-to-the-standard-black-female-wishlist that can pass a few hours while I work. Plenty of eyerolling but a thread of something entertaining enough for a Thursday. This chick ruins most of the enjoyment of it with her narration.

OK. Having said all that, the heroine needs a good slap as well. I always appreciate acknowledgment of emotional damage. Insecurity bred of mistreatment resonates for me. But for shits sake, this woman was a straight up bitch to this man, blew hot and cold and basically behaved in a way that would send any sane guy running. All over a guy in her previous relationship that any fool would recognize as a class piece of crap. If you're not ready but still interested, say that. Don't treat an obviously decent stranger like he's done you wrong. Thats some old 80's harlequin shit I can't get down with.

The only thing that redeems this even partially is that I can tell, without the bad accent via audio, Quinn is a solid alpha hero. A bit over the top/unrealistic, but thats what this genre is based on.
