The last person in the world Cassie Bell wants to see is Damien Colton, the lead singer of the blazing hot band, The Hollow Men. Not because she doesn’t like him, but because she’s liked him ever since they went to high school together. Back then they were both rising stars, but only Damien made it, and he never guessed she had a crush on him. And why should he? She was so shy in high school she couldn’t even bring herself to speak to him.
But when Damien walks into her elevator and insists on taking a smoke break with her on the roof of the hotel where she cleans rooms for a living, it seems fate has brought them back together. And when the door leading back into the building locks behind them, it seems fate likes to play a good prank.
Can Cassie ever overcome her shyness and confess to Damien the torch she’s carried for years, or have the years since high school changed them both too dramatically for them to ever have a second chance?

hmm hard to rate romance but probably a 3/5 or 2.5/5. it's a short story but it's written like every other romance story - Like they're all written by the same author. The concept of a highschool crush and rockstar intrigued me but it wasn't what I was expecting...but maybe that's the whole point as the story does discuss the concept of forgetting who you were and live in the present and start over....which can be a great metaphor for life, let's be honest. I didn't like how her character was apparently smart but had 'failures' which are realistic - but I didn't like how she was smoking and was mean to the character in the beginning. She was trying to play off feelings but it came off mean and made her character like many characters - the girl who hates the guy first kind of character. And I guess I never cared for that kind of story. I was expecting the characters to talk on the roof about their feelings and have a discussion...also (spoiler alert!) I wasn't expecting his feelings were mutual from the beginning. These ideas could have been elaborated on as it appears in both cases it was a crush from afar....which is entirely normal but you don't get a good physical description of either character nor do we get a flashback or show too much how their characters were then. Cassie's descriptions are helpful but it's interesting/not realistic to see how in a highschool (which may have been small) how the characters knew the other. in most cases I feel certain crowds hang out together and may not know the other (minus name...hmm okay, maybe that last sentence was wrong lol). I was overall expecting a different story and not necessarily a story just based on well...what it was...hahaha. Great concept and it's easy to read/well-written - I also like the usage of some large SAT words lol :) but I didn't like the outright frankness of Cassie's character...but maybe the change was the whole point...however, you don't see Damien's character surprised in the slightest - if she was a 'good girl' this change may have really shocked him. okay story...quick read and it has some creative writing ideas that are good to know but typical romance story :) I like the authors bio --- has some humor in it which is always great.

Ah my of guilty pleasure romance. I have no shame about anything I like are read but the writing here is very weak in places. All kinds of threads come up and not resolved. It should make me nuts and get some how the characters and the situations are engrossing enough, I just enjoy my self and let it go.
Here a down on her luck high school valedictorian gets stuck on a snowy hotel rooftop with her high school crush who is now a rock star.
It seemed a little annoying with her feeling so embarrassed that she was a housekeeper at that hotel.I am surprised that Colton feels she's good company,??!!
