One house. One towel. One grumpy hero about to lose his heart.
The last thing I expected when I walked into my house after deployment was to find my high school crush standing in my hallway in nothing but a towel.
Welcome back to Huckleberry Creek, Gabe.
Turns out my matchmaking grandmother “forgot” to mention she rented my place out while I was overseas—to Felicity Harmon, sunshine incarnate and exactly the kind of woman I have no business wanting. I tell myself I can handle it. Stay grumpy, keep it friendly, fix her house, and get her back where she belongs.
But then we’re roommates. Then she’s making me laugh. Cooking for me. Curling up beside me on the couch like it’s the most natural thing in the world. And suddenly, everything I thought I could keep bottled up is bleeding out between shared dinners, stolen glances, and one very nosy grandma who’s clearly rooting for a happily ever after.
She deserves more than a grumpy contractor still trying to get his feet under him after deployment. But the closer we get, the more I start to believe maybe I’ve been wrong about what I can offer—and who I want to offer it to.
She’s always been the dream. The gamble I never had the guts to take.
A quick read that I really enjoyed. Gabe is heading home after being in the military for years. Of course he has a few demons…but who doesn’t. Felicity is a florist and has the shop to prove it. Her house has flooded and has been staying at Gabe’s house while he was deployed. These two were surprised to see each other. They are now roommates and boy oh boy do they have chemistry. Will they take the leap and try a relationship? This was a sweet but emotional read that had great characters. Characters with some emotional baggage. Characters who told a heck of a story. I look forward to getting to know the other characters better…bring on the next book.
All I can say after finishing this book is I want more! Everything about this book was perfect. I always love a book where the mmc is in the military, and one thing loved about this book was that Gabe and Felicity knew each other since high school, and both liked each other back then but because of issues Gabe was going through he never acted on it. I enjoyed the chemistry between them and the little bit of angst thrown in there when Gabe pushed her away. This is only the first book in the series, but I’m really excited for Clint and Austen’s story next, and I’m since I love a love a second chance romance I’m dying for Rhett and Pepper!!
Gabriel is a grumpy military man who has always had a crush on Felicity since high school. To his surprise, after a deployment he returns home to find her living in his own home.
While Felicity is also interested in him, Gabriel is hesitant to move forward as he feels he isn’t good enough. The attraction is hard to fight though and soon the grumpy Gabriel falls hard and fast.
I loved Gabriel’s thoughtful actions in getting her the “gift” with Austen’s help. Their dates at home were also so sweet. This was an enjoyable quick read at less than 100 pages.
Both Felicity and Gabe had crushes on each other from the time he moved to live with his grandmother. Neither one did anything about it. Now that Gabe is back from his time in the service, will something happen between them? Felicity is forced to move out of her rental when it's flooded. Her landlady is Gabe's grandmother. She's allowed to stay in Gabe's house while he's away. He gets home and can't have her move out. Will forced proximity work to help them share their true feelings?
While deployed Gabe and his buddies, Rhett, Clint and Kellan, made a pact that when they went home they would woo the women they care for and find the life they wanted. When Gabe gets home, he finds Felicity living in his house. His grandma let her live there when her house was flooded with water from a broken pipe. He vows to follow through with the pact and woo Felicity while she lives in his house as he repairs the water damage to her house. Great read filled with banter, tender moments and hope for love.
I found this author through the stuff your Kindle (a different book that happens to be part of this series) then saw this one on Facebook. It seemed like serendipity lol and I am thankful. It's a very cute sweet read. Kept me engaged, loved the characters (of course fleshing them out in such a short book isn't always easy she gave me enough to really enjoy them). Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a short quick read
Kait Flynn is a great new talent on the romance scene. I am so sad she only has two books out (and one pending). This is a strong start. Her characters are well written, the plot ticks moves smoothly, and there were moments that literally made me laugh out loud. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
The title of this book suggests it's "just" a silly booktok book, and so I was (pleasantly) surprised to find it actually deals with mental health, therapy, and how we react to crises around us. It's no literary crown, but it was a short and easy read without too much spice. It had a happy ending and a likable female main character. Minus points for the HORRENDOUS cover, and for the military rep - as an anti-military gal that was not my style at all. 😬
Enjoyed this quick read. This is a "new" author find for me, it's actually a favorite author under another pen name. She gives us a great plot with many tropes. Well written and engaging characters. Was a short story but got right to the heart of romance stories. I'm hoping next in series is just as enjoyable.
This was a great little story. Nice, easy reading, forced proximity, happy ever after. Cute characters in a cosy little town, everyone knows everyone. What's not to love!
A sweet and sexy story. I enjoyed the characters. Gabe and Felicity are perfect as the grumpy and sunshine trope without being extreme. I am looking forward to more in this series.
I liked the characters and loved the happy ending. I could do without the overuse of the F word, however. Not at all necessary. Otherwise, I’d recommend it.
Very cute grumpy x sunshine story! I loved the characters dynamics. Please read any triggers before hand as there is mention of military and ptsd. Overall good book! Read within one sitting. Fast read if you’re looking for an easy book to sit with.
