Finally Ours

Trapped by a storm with the man who broke my heart…

Years ago, Carter Steel abandoned me to go chase his dreams, and I swore I’d hate him forever. But after a mishap at a party, we end up stuck on this tiny island off the coast of Maine, in a one room cabin, with only one bed…

Carter claims he’s a changed man. I don’t believe him, but as we brave the wilderness together, he takes care of me and puts my needs first at every turn. He convinces me to give him a second chance, but he only has until we’re off the island to make things right.

Once we’re back home in Harborview, things will go back to the status quo. I’ll go back to working long shifts at the hospital, and Carter will go off on another adventure, leaving me behind again, I’m sure of it.

He says he’s staying for good this time.
I might be convinced to share a bed with Carter, but trust him?
Never.

Finally Ours is a second chance, forced proximity, small town romance with an HEA. It is book 2 in the Harborview series and can be read as a standalone.

I want her. I’ve always wanted her. But this trip has only shown me how fucking badly I need her. Because I’ll never want another woman like I want her.

Finally Ours follows a second chance romance between two exes who are still obsessed with one another but there's a lot of unresolved hurt. Especially since Carter left half-in-love and half-heartbroken Angela years ago to chase his own dreams.

Want to know the best part? They're stranded together during a storm and I leave the rest to your *imagination*.

But no, Angela knew she is someone who loves too deeply and is still scarred by Carter walking away from her, she won't be forgiving him easily.

But Carter is anything but a cruel man or someone who would intentionally hurt Angela, he has this only one chance to win her over and give themselves to love.

This was so sweet (and had a generous drizzle of filth there). Angela and Carter were so wholesome!! I wish I had just a little more of their past to see more of their dynamic when they were younger.

I was in a slump and this book was the perfect choice to help me out of it. Lovable characters, fast-paced story, and a sizzling romance!

thank you lovenotes pr and lucy harper for the arc <3

This was such a charming read!
It takes place in this coastal town in Maine, and lemme tell you, it feels like it!

the story starts off with a bachelor(ette) party gone wrong, they get stuck on this island with only each other's company. it makes for a good forced proximity plotline which i enjoyed.

The two main characters, Angela and Carter, are both laid out to be reserved characters, which makes sense as this is a second-chance romance (a trope i typically don't like) but it worked fairly well in this one. their characters arcs and growing trust for each other were great. although, i did feel like it was more focused on Angela than on Carter.

the overall story was plain. this is for sure a book you pick up to unwind, and maybe that was not something i was craving at this time because, for me, it fell flat.

the characters were great, the side characters were great as well. the plot wasn't truly original but the details made the story.

i acknowledge this is a me problem as i tend to enjoy deeper romances more than the more surface-level ones (we also need from time to time btw!) so I'm probably not the right demographic for this series.

all in all, i enjoyed it a lot but it lacked some depth for me.

3,5/5
idk if I'm going to give it a 3 or a rounded up 4 star yet so bear with me <3

This cover is sooooo pretty ☺️💞 "Trapped by a storm with the man who broke my heart".. I am ready to have my heart shattered!!

This book ticked so many boxes of my favourite tropes

🤍 Small Town

🤍 Stranded in a storm - One Bed In A Cabin
🤍 Forced Proximity
🤍 Praise
🤍 Second Chance
🤍 Mutual Pining
🤍 Dual POV

I enjoyed Carter and Angela's story. Two childhood friends that shared a special week together before he went away for the summer on an internship. They agreed to stay in contact but little did Angela know that would be the last time they'd be speak . 7 years later , Carter (a mountain man - instant swoon! 🥰) , has almost completed his final year for his PHD and a total nerd for puffins wants to now claim Angela. Angela is a nurse in the ER with a busy schedule, she hasn't had the best relationships with men and has her reasons for resenting Carter. They come together for their best friends' double bachlorette/ Bachelor Party but become stranded in a storm.. It's then we follow their journey - where emotions, feelings and past secrets / regrets come to the surface..

I really liked the slow burn vibe - the angst, tension, passion and chemistry they both had was perfect! They had banter, emotion and so much love ( even though they wouldn't admit it out loud) . This is the first book i have read by Lucy Harper.. And wow! She gave so much detail and description.. We really dived into the page straight into Harberview

This was a sweet and heartwarming book, a story of the right person but wrong time.. A story of love after heartache.. A story of seizing that second chance ✨5/5 ✨

✨ RELEASE DAY - 30th September 2024!! SAVE the date & ADD to your TBR!! ✨

Received this as an ARC from Love Notes PR. Unfortunately this book was not for me. It’s a second chance romance, forced proximity, main character is a nurse, it hit all of the tropes I love but I feel like nothing happened! I love a good spicy scene as much as the next person but I found myself cringing and making disgusted faces while reading this spice… not a fan.

Didn’t love the writing style, felt like she portrayed the characters as very immature. Just didn’t connect with them. Angela, the FMC I found very annoying. Didn’t find myself excited to pick up the book

This is the second book of a series of standalones. Maybe if I had read the first one I could have learned to love the characters gets more.

The prologue had me hooked from the first page!! It did take me a second to really get into present Angela and Carter but their wanting for each other just had me spiraling down with them.

This second-chance, one cabin/one bed romance had me wishing on all the stars that they’d just give into each other - and they sure do. Even after their life-or-death ordeal, their return back to real life does nothing but show that they can make it work and find a way to be happy with themselves and with each other. The closure that I needed was there!!

I cannot wait to get my hands on Book 3 (Hunter????) and dive right back into Harborview.

Thank you Lucy Harper for a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I have to admit at first Angela seemed immature and unlikable, while Carter was all too perfect, what with his PhD dissertation in progress and his magnificent mane of hair plus his joy stemming from all things puffin. Eventually however, I grew to be invested in them both and ended up enjoying this second chance romance.

I received an advance reader copy from Love Notes PR and bookfunnel, and I’m sharing my honest opinion.

This was such a cute book. A wonderfully thought out second chance romance full of emotional reunions and spicy nights.

I really liked how real Angela was with her issues and the origin of them. As a woman, trusting someone is “in it” for the right reasons can be difficult. Trying to trust someone who gave you the trust issues…. More power to her. She did have a fair amount of character growth throughout the book. I was pleased to see her actively giving the MMC a chance, once she realized she wanted to actually give him one.

Carter grew up with uninterested parents, smart as heck, and in love with Angels, his best friend. When he finally got the courage to start something with her, he leaves her high and dry after a week of romance. He is older and wiser now, ready to prove he is in it for the long haul this time. But how will he convince Angela to even speak with him again?

Carter is kind, well developed, and a perfect golden retriever/dom book boyfriend. He spends the entire book attempting to show Angela how much he cares and has changed. Sure, what he did in the past was pretty messed up… but he truly has come a long way. I enjoyed this character and his development. He seems to be somewhat emotionally distant in the beginning but is able to express himself emotionally very well by the end.

I only had two issues with this book. One, Angela seemed to hardly grow as a person. She remained unable to stand up for herself from beginning to end. In one of the last chapters her boss, who had overworked her repeatedly to the point of fainting, half heartedly apologizes then…

“When will you be able to work again?” Tony demands.
“Ask Dr. Gupta,” Angela fires back, crossing her arms.

She couldn’t even state that she was on leave herself. I get that after fainting she might have been vulnerable, but she repeatedly accepted every additional shift he asked her to do. There was also a lack of accountability. I don’t believe in blaming people for others actions but it seems odd that every man she chose after the first time with Carter was all bad. She had many examples of a loving relationship. I prefer my FMCs to be a little stronger but still flawed and real. I also felt that she did not truly communicate what his leaving did to her. All the trust issues seemed to melt away with every “good girl” she heard. Which , i mean…. Kinda fair bc 😏

Overall i still really enjoyed the book and the spice between the characters and recommend it to fans of second chance romance and found family.

-This book was an ARC I applied for-

I'm impressed! I had no idea I would end up loving this story and characters as much as I did but this was exactly what I was looking for without knowing it.

Small town second chance romance with all the cozy one-bed stuck in a cabin on an island vibes. Angela is smart and unwilling to let her heart get broken again and Carter is the golden retriever following you and giving you all the snuggles- even if you want space.
The chemistry between the characters is very strong and well written. I loved their dialogue and how despite being upset they forgive and strengthen the relationship. Perfect amount of description to dialogue. I LOVED the setting - small town Maine is definitely a great choice. I also really appreciated a non-typical occupation for Carter and the encouragement of following your passion.

The spice: she was THERE and in your face, but it never felt forced. I enjoyed seeing a well written praise kink trope that had all the chili peppers.

ARC review

I liked the book, it was sweet.
Angela was left heartbroken after Carter sorted of ghosted her and her trust in relationships was damaged. She didn't trust any man to say with her and all the men after didn't, reenforcing her belief.
Carter liked her so much but was afraid to mess things up so he let her go.
Years later, he tries again and it takes time, but he makes her see that they can try again and be happy

Happy Pub Day! I was happy to receive an ARC of Finally Ours and be introduced to this author. This book was really sweet. It was slow to start for me, but once I was in I couldn’t put it down. Loved all of the mental health rep & bit of queer rep. Carter truly is a sweet, loveable MMC- the way he owned up to his actions and always defended Angela even with his friends really made me like him. Any is strong and so capable, I’m so happy she got the happy ending she deserves!

📍Review:
What a sweet second chance romance this was! I loved that we get a bit of a hot nerd in Carter. We need more of those! This couple had in instant fire love at 19 years old but then the seriousness of long term love combined with his budding dream career fed into Carter's fears. (Though he really should've just communicated his feelings to her after he made the decision go to radio silent...but that's why she's mad too!)

I got a kick out of some of the playfulness that Carter naturahad coming out as they got paired together on the island excursion. Moments of care, deep revelations, honesty but also reignited chemistry struck an effective balance.

Once they were back on the mainland, I was happy to see how the narrative didn't lose steam. Carter truly is trying to make amends and recognizes that he has to earn and build trust with how his actions affected the love of his life.

Seeing how they both recognize how the other has changed, how the past has affected them but now how they can move forward from it, was a journey of growth and healing. Low on angst but high on sweet, this is a fun, cozy second chance read.

I couldn’t wait for Angela & Carter’s story after ARC reading You’re it back in April. I loved the tension and banter between the mc’s despite their miscommunication years ago. The prologue had me hooked but I had to go to sleep!! This book is fast-paced. I love how their friends ‘unintentionally’ paired them together for the hike during the combined Bachelor/Bachelorette party. I hope there’s a book in the future about Hunter! Also, I love, love the new book covers!

Thank you to Lucy harper and Love Notes for an advanced reader's e-book! Any opinions in this review are solely my own.

If you love second chance romance, HEA, *chef's kiss* dirty talk, and a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers romance, then look no further! IMPORTANT NOTE: This was a quick read that didn’t sacrifice a great plot for the sake of smut (which was top tier, btw). I read this book in less than 24-hours and I do not regret it. 💜

I love how this story explored and shined light on the dom/sub relationship and the side effects of that relationship. It was both a crushing and delicate portrayal of the intimacy it takes to get there and find yourself again.

It's usually hard for me to rate a contemporary romance 5 ⭐️ 's because I'm such fantasy-lover, but this hit the ball out of the park. It chopped the tree. It boiled a perfect pasta. It cracked a perfect lobster claw. It "ate" and left no crumbs, as the youngin's would say.

And no, you do not need to read book 1 to understand and appreciate book 2, but it is helpful because the side characters are wonderfully written!

Lucy Harper's writing style is a breath of fresh air! She layers complex sentences and varies the characters' dialogue so you feel like you're in the book with the characters--a fly on the wall, per se.

"Angel", the female character, (yes, I will only refer to her by the intimate nickname Carter gave her), is such a complex onion. I love everything she felt and shared and appreciated how emotional she made me feel. I had such empathy for this character while I read her chapters, and everything she left unsaid, I understood it. It takes a top tier writer to be able to do that and Harper made it happen.

Carter is a burly, caring, teddy bear, outdoorsy, daddy of a character without all the over-bearing, eye-roll inducing monologues. He treats Angel just how any woman should be treated--especially after breaking trust. I usually have a hard time with second chance romances where the male character broke trust in the beginning, but I think because they were so young the it happened, and there wasn't infidelity, anyone can forgive him!Overall, Harper made it possible for me to really appreciate Carter's growth and value the complexity that his past adds to his character arc.

All in all, do yourself a favor and read this book!

This was a good book and I loved the characters, the story, and the environment. I feel like this story is very realistic and I found myself relating to the characters a ton throughout the story even in the flashbacks. As someone who tends to find it very hard to trust people, I totally understood where Angela was coming from. There were some times during the book when it felt a little bit repetitive especially when we were hearing about the characters feeling towards one another.

I did appreciate the pacing of the story and the angst and tension truly made this story so much better. One thing I usually hate about forced proximity is how fast they give into one another but this story builds up that tension perfectly and everything else falls into place smoothly.

As someone who builds up her walls, I get why Angela took so long to trust Carter again. I love Angela so much and she's so REAL!! This girl is overworked, stressed, and going through a rollercoaster of emotions...give her a break!

Carter is the sweetest man ever though...our favorite mountain man!! I was melting when I learned that he was doing field research on puffins because I love puffins so much! Overall, this story was just amazing, and if you love small-town, forced proximity, second-chance romance, this book is for you!

Some of My Favorite Things About This Book:
♥ He calls her angel (AHHHHH!!!)
♥ The relatability of the characters
♥ Sucker for a second chance romance
♥ The environment and location were just so perfect

“That you would be the most important person I ever met, and that loving you would be the best thing I ever did.”

Omg did I love Carter Steele!!

I love that Carter was a very different MMC. Most books love writing an arrogant billionaire CEO or a grumpy lumberjack out in the mountains. Carter fell in between these. Extremely nerdy, attentive and so loving that if Angela didn't pick him, I would!!

I did love Angela's journey too. I could relate a lot to her. She shies away from the spotlight but us always willing to do extra for her team because the thought of others struggling doesn't sit well with her.

I also enjoyed her journey with Carter. She had a whirlwind romance with someone she has loved for so long and to be left behind, hurts. She was given such great examples of Love that I'm glad she didn't settle for anything else. She made him work for it. And boy did he.

I loved this group of characters and hope Hunter is next to find his love. ♥️

Lucy has done it again, I loved reading Carter and Angela’s story! Carter left Angela to chase his dreams, and she vowed to hate him forever. They cross paths again and end up stranded on an island during a storm. Carter claims he has changed, and will do anything to prove this to her.

I enjoyed the pacing in this book, I had a hard time putting it down. It has many of my favorite romance tropes, such as small town, he falls first, forced proximity, one bed. This was an open door spicy romance, and I had a fun time reading it!

I read this as an ARC. I usually love second chance romance novels, but this one didn’t do it too much for me. It was a cute story but nothing really happens in the book, it fell a little flat. I liked both main characters, they fit well together, and I like how it ends up. It’s a cute story if you just want to read something chill for once. I also love the author’s writing style, so I am glad, as this is an important point for me.

second chance forced proximity romance? sign me up. this read took me awhile to fully invest in the story but it still didn’t feel like much happened.

carter and angela has unresolved feelings after a couple of weeks of fun and then carter leaves and stops communicating. Never after a couple of years they get stuck on an island together and have to work out their pent up emotions and come to terms with what their relationship is or could be.

Second chance romance, stuck on an island together, damaged woman with trust issues, and a nerdy mountain man with a filthy mouth, all without a third act break up, say less. I loved this, it had me hooked from the prologue.

The story and characters were heartwarming, I was unsure of the FMC at first but she grew on me quickly. I was a little unsure of the whole "trapped on an island" concept at first but it was done really well, and I would love to be trapped on a beautiful island off the coast of Maine.

Small Town romances have suck a charm to them. I didn't read the synopsis beforehand but I was excited to see it had no third-act breakup.
I'm starting to see a lot of "black cat" FMC and I don't know why I find the bantering more entertaining. Seeing how he fought for then even when she was scared, was 🥺. Their connection was strong and needed to reconnect
It was such a fun read! I loved the adventure they were on, not by choice lol. But it was a good read to their island romance

Something you should know about me is that I often fall hard and fast for the first couple in an interconnected stand alone series. The first couple always end up being my all time favourite… but this book broke that pattern for me!
I loved following Cat and Jamie’s story in book one, but I fell even more in love with book two.

Carter and Angela couldn’t be more perfect for each other if they tried. The tension, the emotion, the vulnerability and their love was clear from page one even if they couldn’t see it in each other yet.
I loved how steadily Carter showed up for her, and I loved watching Angela learn to trust again.

The plot of this book was cozy, and eventful all at once. It made the book fly by in the best way. I loved that there wasn’t any big arguments or mean words exchanged between them. They both acted like adults, with flaws and problems but who respected each other.
The spice in this book was beautiful written, and Carter and Angela have incredible chemistry that really jumps off the page especially in those scenes.

It took me a bit of time to understand both characters but the pay off in learning how they both ticked and why they were matched was great. I loved that Carter continually showed up for her. I really loved that Angie got in touch with her hobbies again.

I cannot recommend this series/book enough if you are looking for cute cozy feel good love story’s with respectful male leads who know how to talk dirty 😉😂

***This review contains spoilers***

I loved being back in Harborview! What is it about this small coastal town that just pulls you right in!? I know it's set in Maine, but whenever you see Maine in the movies, it's usually shot on the east coast of Canada, so that's exactly what I'm feeling when I'm picturing this town- the beautiful Canadian east coast. Remember Charlie St Cloud? Like that setting! But I digress...

You don't have to have read You're It- Harborview #1 in order to make sense of this book, but why wouldn't you? Maybe you'd miss out on exactly why Harborview is so lovely. Just do it- go read You're It then you can read Finally Ours. Plus, you'll get a little peek at Carter and Angela's characters, so why not?

Angela and Carter have obvious tension between them, from when they hooked up years ago and Angela ended up ghosted. It's clear that Carter did not ghost her maliciously, he was young and made a mistake. Unfortunately that mistake left Angela unable to trust that anyone else wouldn't also abandon her, and as such she has her guard up sky high.

Trapped together when a storm separates them from the rest of Jamie & Cat's bachelor/bachelorette hiking trip, they are forced to be civil to each other. With nothing else to do, they confront their feelings about what happened back then, and their feelings for each other.

Carter stops at nothing to make it up to Angela and prove to her that he will never make the same mistake again. If she'll let him, he'll be there for her for good.

I loved the chemistry between these two- it's clear that no matter how hurt Angela was, she still has buried feelings for Carter and still finds him attractive. Slow burn - check. Carter pays close attention to what he knows Angela likes and plans the most intimate curated dates for them. Cinnamon roll golden retriever love interest - check.

This second-chance romance with growth and redemption arcs is a lighthearted, feel-good read with no third act breakup and a happily ever after.

I give this book 5 stars because I have absolutely zero complaints.

He says he’s staying for good this time.
I might be convinced to share a bed with Carter, but trust him?
Never.

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5

Finally Ours is a beautifully intense second-chance romance that follows Carter and Angela, two exes who never really let go of each other, despite the years and pain between them. Carter left Angela behind years ago, chasing his own dreams, but he was never fully out of love. Now, they're forced back together, stranded during a storm, with all their unresolved emotions coming to the surface.

Angela, still deeply affected by Carter walking away, isn’t ready to forgive easily. She's always loved fiercely, and the scars from their past aren't easy to heal. Meanwhile, Carter, far from being the villain in this story, has one chance to prove to her that leaving was never about not loving her enough. He’s determined to win her heart back, once and for all.

I loved the slow build-up between them—the angst, the tension, and that electric chemistry that was there even when neither of them wanted to admit it. Their banter and the emotional undercurrent were spot on, making this more than just a sweet romance—it was about rediscovering what they once had and figuring out if they could make it work again.

Carter, a now rugged mountain man and a complete nerd for puffins, is ready to claim Angela again, but she’s not making it easy. She's busy with her life as an ER nurse, and their past isn’t something that can just be brushed aside. Watching them confront their history, along with all the love and regrets still lingering between them, was incredibly satisfying.

Lovable characters, an engaging pace, and just enough emotional heat to keep me hooked. I do wish we had seen a bit more of their past dynamic to understand what drew them together initially fully, but their journey now was a heartwarming story of love, regret, and second chances.
