“For better and for worse, abortion supporters have grown increasingly unhinged since the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe.”

I loved how the first book (written before Roe’s reversal) laid out many points and counterpoints to the pro-life movement. This book (written after Roe’s reversal) gives more detail about the current political and cultural climate. There were even several times in this book that I even chuckled to myself, including the above quote. Another must-read…and I (hopefully) look forward to another one in another couple years as things change!

This addresses all the questions in the first book, and then some. Some great advice on questions to ask, what statements to avoid, and how to use drawing an argument to its logical conclusion to point out its absurdity. The question of "What about rape and incest?" is handled with tact, grace and firmness, and the testimonies of women who have gone through the trauma to triumph over it.

A previous review of this book is extremely biased, so much so that it seems they didn't really read the book, but only skimmed through it and tried to find things to complain about (part of the "hostile culture" referred to in the title). Contrary to that review, the men who wrote this book are extremely well-versed on the abortion question. The authors have a tremendous amount of experience working with women in difficult pregnancies, and also with women who have gone through abortions. The question of rape & abortion was handled with sensitivity and real care for the women & unborn children involved; there was absolutely no minimization of the seriousness and trauma of rape. The true stories shared about women in these difficult situations are heartrending, and really give one pause to think a little more deeply about the question of rape and abortion.

I can’t stress enough how appalling this book is. From comparing abortion to slavery and the Holocaust to targeting real women who have almost died from abortion bans this is an extremist’s manifesto. Written by two hard of thinking men who think they are clever (spoiler, they are not). The most sickening thing had to be minimising the trauma of being a pregnant child after rape. I have no words for that.
