4 stars for the romantic relationship. 1 star for something unfair and unjust. Anger overpowered my enjoyment.
THE SETTING INFURIATED ME.
My background is taxes and accounting which is probably why I had a huge problem. I’m sure others won’t be as bothered. I value authors trying new things and writing about new things. But this just hit the wrong button for me.
1. Zeke owns a ranch. He’s a loser. He’s been stripping the ranch for money -- selling appliances, furniture and even the fencing. It’s a small town. So why do a dozen locals lend him money which they know he won’t repay? If they were helping a friend fine. But if they expected to be repaid by Zeke’s relatives, that is unjust and unfair. After Zeke died, the locals went to Mason the nephew to collect. I was so angry! How would you like it if someone came up to you and said your uncle owed me $2,000 and I expect you to pay it? And there is nothing in writing. They could be making this up. Mason barely had enough savings to stock the ranch with cattle and horses. But finding the ranch in disrepair was a huge financial set back. He just got out of the military. He wasn’t rich. And then to find he was expected to pay off Zeke’s personal debts on top of that? Plus, where’s the respect and honor for our military heroes? The locals were fools to loan money to Zeke. But if they’re going to go to someone, it should be Zeke’s son or the aunt, not Mason. Mason was being honorable and paid the debts. It made me sick to my stomach.
2. The ranch should have been sold with proceeds used to pay Zeke’s debts, including probable estate taxes. Zeke had no will so it gets even murkier as to why the land would go to Heloise, and other tax issues. But I won’t go into that. I was willing to suspend disbelief about the tax things. The part about Zeke’s personal debts is my problem.
In summary, I don’t mind Heloise requiring the nephews to get married, stock the ranch, and other things. I don’t mind the nephews finding the ranch stripped down requiring them to spend a lot of money to fix it. Those were ok plot devices. But I did not like paying Zeke’s debts. The plot did not need that. It’s already got the downer of financial burden.
AS TO THE ROMANCE STORY:
I enjoyed the way the couple met, how they got to know each other, their conversations, how they reacted to the ranch, the things they did, and how they fell in love. And I was delighted to find there was no big-misunderstanding-separation. How nice to skip that formulaic device.
Because the author did the romance part well, I immediately bought the second book - thinking: at least the Zeke debt subject is done and I won’t have to read that again. But I had a different problem with the sequel “The Soldier’s E-Mail...” I felt there was too much repetition and dragging out about the hero’s guilt. I gave it 3 stars, but again I enjoyed the relationship part.
AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR – Cassandra Livington.
She sounded like she had a stuffy nose. Her voice was not as clear as other narrators. She used a southern accent for some of the women which I don’t think was accurate for Montana people. I didn’t mind it, but I kept wondering about it. Otherwise her narration was good.

How are they going to accomplish this? By placing an ad looking for wives...
Regan is a finance specialist who just quit her job and has decided after several failed relationships and with her biological clock ticking, to go it alone and have a baby via artificial insemination. Then a friend sends her a link to the wife seeking ad....feeling lonely and having too much wine she drunkenly answers Mason...her answer to the ad was pretty hilarious which caught Mason's attention.
All in all not a bad read, there were things that I loved, liked, and disliked however; I really, really loved the first part of the book, their banter back and forth via email, telephone calls, and Skype were fun.
Mason and Regan make a great H&h, Regan is loyal, fun, and loving who brought out the best in stoic Mason. I was happy with their HEA and looking forward to Mason's brothers books.

A Cora Seton novel is akin to taking that tall glass of lemonade after getting all that yard work done. Pure joy and satisfaction. I am already a great lover of CS' SEALS of Chance Creek series and when I spied this freebie in the Kobo store...well, I just couldn't resist.
The premise of this series is that Mason Hall and his three brothers(all in branches of the U.S. military) have been granted the chance by a great aunt to take back the family ranch but under certain conditions. First, they all have to get married within the next year. Two, at least one of those brides has to be pregnant. Otherwise, everything will go to a cousin. I know, it's another CRAZY premise, but these books just keep reeling me in.
I adored Mason and Regina's storyline. They had a fairly easygoing banter and that relationship grew stronger as they were put through a series of realistic trials and tribulations before and during their time at the ranch. This was a great summer read and I highly recommend it.

2.5 'Mail me a Mason' Stars
I love mail order brides so when I came upon an E-mail order bride book, I had to get it. This was a new area of mail order brides for me and besides, who can resist a military man turn rancher who calls you honey and sweetheart? Not this chick, that's who!
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book when these two meet. The Skyping, phone calls and e-mails were some of my favorite moments between Mason and Regan. I loved their funny and playful side with another side of flirting.
When Mason decides to meet her, in person, I had flutters in my heart. That was the day he walked right up to her and kissed her before she even knew what was coming. However, from then on- I had a bit of a harder time with the story. I needed to see more of a connection with the couple and I didn't like how there were times it felt like she didn't exist. Like when he doesn't introduce her to people or when he's in a zone so caught up in fixing up his ranch. Granted he tries not to forget her but to me, it still felt like he did more than he should have. I didn't enjoy this part of the story- the whole fixing up of the ranch or the telling parts of the story. I needed to see them be more in love with each other. I also felt like there was a lot of glossing over and not enough details in some parts.
I have to say, Mason was moving at lightning speed and eventually Regan jumps on board with the whole she-bang.

Cute,fun,very enjoyable read!I loved the hero and heroine but the h was my favorite! She is one great funny woman! I want to read more about them so I will definitely be reading about his brothers!

I had a major problem with how Mason had to pay his uncle's debts, but nonetheless, I laughed several times while reading this erotic romance. It's a contemporary "mail-order-bride" trope played out via email, phoning, and Skype, from New York to Afghanistan and later in Montana, at The Crescent Hall Ranch. The main couple converse several times via social media before they meet in person.
I liked these lead characters and rooted for their happy ending. Hero (Lieutenant Commander Mason Hall) is a SEAL who will inherit the family ranch if he gets married and has a baby within a year. Several scenes involve the H and h fixing up his ranch, laid waste by Mason's uncle.
Heroine Regan Anderson is a New York banking loan officer who longs to have a baby. She's picky and has never found the right man. Thus, she was soon going to begin artificial insemination. Mason's bride advertisement put a stop to that.
The story is heartwarming, humorous, well-paced, and sexy, but expect no action-packed, adrenaline-pumping chills, because this SEAL is decommissioned, now a rancher. However, the scary scene in the thunderstorm had me engrossed and worried. Vivid flowing prose there.
Best part? It's truly funny at times. I laughed out loud during the obstacle course race and during Regan's introductory letter to Mason — an uproarious nod to Pride and Prejudice. It's also witty at times.
Quibbles: it was just stupid that Mason paid Zeke's debts. And stupid that his dying aunt was so clueless about the shape of the ranch when she gave her inheritance ultimatum. Stupidity, forced into these characters to force plot contortions. For some reason, this romance didn't move me deeply. It's good but not a keeper. The writing style is decent, but not of the highest calibre (but lightning and thunder felt vivid). Seton could improve her craft a bit. I didn't care for the opening chapter with the drunken trope — a cliché, used whenever a hasty, irrational, or risky decision is made. Since Regan later said she normally drinks sparingly, I doubt she could put down as much wine and tequila as she did that fateful night (nor does a wine bottle hold as many glasses as she poured, unless it's been charmed like Mary Poppins' carpetbag). Also, I felt that social media was cited too frequently. References to Facebook, Pinterest, and Skype could be out of date within five years. Facebook is on the wane now with younger adults.
However, on the upside, this author can write funny scenes that aren't slapstick. Kudos! And I only noticed one minor typo. Happily, the characters do NOT engage in endless mental gymnastics. The pace flows along and is not bogged down by redundant reflection, worry, and rumination. There is no big childhood sorrow hanging around their necks like rocks — Mason and Regan grew up in happy homes. Nor is there any long-held guilt. (I grow weary of the guilt trope in so many romance novels.)
Contents include several explicit sex scenes but no crude vulgar terms for female anatomy. No death, dismemberment, or other bloody gore. Happy to add that there is little or no religious profanity and little or no swearing.
I'd maybe be up for the next book in this series.

Even knowing that this was going to be fairly straight-forward, it was an enjoyable read. A insta-match-made-in-heaven tale, but it had depth and reasonable complexity for a shorter story.

This book was a surprise for me.
So Mason and all his brothers have to married and have children because their crazy relative. Mason is very straight about what he wants including demanding the same for his brothers. I love how even angry sometimes with each other they are still close.
Mason and Regan starting to emailing each other and wow the chemistry btw them is the wow factor here. Despite their short time talking. Regan wants a baby and Mason too-yet she does not know if marrying would be good for them.
And I thought how the author will make some plotline because Regan already agree to marry him. Surprise and delight the author did a good job showing how difficult would be re-build a new ranch and pay debts. Regan is so nice and she does not back away from it even Mason being a hard head.
More stories to come and to support every brother and wife in there.

THE NAVY SEAL'S EMAIL ORDER BRIDE by Cora Seton
This is the first book of a four book series involving four brothers, all in a different branch of the military and their return to their beloved family home in Montana, Crescent Hall, that has been in the Hall Family since the 1800s. After the sudden death of their father, when the young boys were still at home, the home by family tradition, went to their fathers brother, Ezekiel "Zeke" Hall. But he has now passed away, his son Darren does not want the ranch and his Great Aunt Heloise is in an assisted living home and she has placed stipulations on the four boys to regain the home.
Mason Hall devised a plan to regain their family home that comes with a one year time table and stipulations. Mason, the oldest of the boy is getting out of the Navy in April, where he is a Seal. He informs his brother of the message from their Great Aunt Heloise that requires marriage of all four boys and for one, a baby on the way in one year, plus 100 pair of cattle.
Regan Anderson, during a moment of self pity and too much to drink finds the ad for Practical Wives Wanted for the four Hall brothers and sends off a reply to Mason. They communicate back in forth in email, then a quick phone call and then onto Skype. Mason's return to civilian life takes him to Regan in New York City to see if they have a connection.
Crescent Hall has been in the hands of Uncle Zeke and he has left it in near ruins, sold off all the furniture, including in the bunk house, all the outbuildings are in series need of major repair. Then to top it off, Uncle Zeke has left major overdue bills all over town. Mason is overwhelmed but Regan believes in Mason and Crescent Hall. . This is a cute modern day take on a mail order bride story. This is book one in a new series that will follow the Hall brothers, leaving their military lives behind and going back to the family homestead in Montana.

Then to top it off, Uncle Zeke has left major overdue bills all over town. Mason is overwhelmed but Regan believes in Mason and Crescent Hall. . This is a cute modern day take on a mail order bride story. This is book one in a new series that will follow the Hall brothers, leaving their military lives behind and going back to the family homestead in Montana.

I had never read a Cora Seton book until this one, and I'm glad this book found me through netgalley. From the title, I was expecting an old-fashioned sappy book (kind of like those old mail order bride westerns). But this book was nothing like that - in fact, it was a sassy contemporary love story with lots of heart, comedy, and heat.
I loved both of the main characters. Mason Hall is a Navy SEAL, who (along with his three brothers) gets a chance to take over his family's home, which had been lost to his uncle when Mason's father passed away. With SEAL determination and planning, he places an ad for a wife - not just for himself but also for his three brothers - because his Aunt Heloise will only let them have the house and the land that goes along with it if all four brothers get married within a year and at least one of them has a baby within a year. Since all four brothers are on active duty, this will be a feat.
Mason's ad only snares Regan because she thought it was funny and then wrote a kick-ass response. Within a short time, Mason and Regan are emailing and Skypeing each other, while he is still overseas. When Mason retires, he surprises Regan in her small New York apartment. They truly were meant for each other, and as a reader, I was enthralled by their romantic story. Mason asks Regan to go to Montana with him for a month just to show her the house, land, and himself.
It's hard work once they get to Montana because the house and land are in disrepair. There's also Mason's despair at finding his old family's house this way. But Regan and Mason work well together for long days, and they get along together well at night with some hot, steamy sex.
Regan isn't one of those TSTL heroines. She's smart and has common sense, even if she did answer an ad to be a bride. I enjoyed her wit and her strength as she worked hard alongside Mason. And Regan is funny! I truly enjoyed the strong connection between Mason and her, and the way Cora Seton created humorous scenes that allowed both the lead characters to shine.
Two thumbs up for this book! And I'm surprised that I liked it so much. Every once in a while, we just need a sweet, sassy, sexy book, and this one is all that. This is a book that stands alone, but the other brothers are featured players in this one, and their stories will follow Mason's in this series. I'm all in for the series, that's for sure.

Way way way to insta for my taste. But still love the premises and their relationship- there are some lovely moments
Just everything happened too fast. Blink of an eye, HEA. Literally. The book was too short so was their love story.
Smut was ok.
I did like the characters - and I like their values, sounds kinda odd when taken out of the context of the plot. So basically just take my word for it.
I am going to read the next book in the series... maybe it get better? But also I'd like to know what happens next.

Professionally written, light read. Predictable. The naive business dealings drove me nuts. There's trust and responsibility, and there's fodder for People's Court.

The Navy Seal's E Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton is a 2014 One Acre Press publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I confess up front that I love military heroes and cowboys better than any other romance hero. I really enjoyed The Cowboys of Chance Creek and am super excited to see this new series featuring Navy Seals.
When Mason and his brothers discover that in order to keep the family ranch their eccentric aunt is willing to sign over to them upon her death, instead of their cousin, they agree to go along with her rather odd stipulation. The brothers must marry and have children right away. Since Mason is about to be discharged from his military duties it only makes sense he marry first and get started on making babies. This prompts him to take unconventional measures to find a bride.
Regan reads the ad Mason places regarding his need for a bride, she begins an online chat with him mostly being a little sarcastic. But, when he answers back they being exchanging emails which leads to Skyping.
Since Regan is desperate to have children, but with no lover, boyfriend or husband in her life she has made the decision to seek alternative ways of having a child. But, Mason could offer Regan a way to have a family the traditional way.. well almost.
Mason and Regan's arrangement may have been a little out of the ordinary but Regan would have the child she so desperately longed for and Mason would still have his ranch.
Naturally, there are a few bumps in the road with unexpected debts, and lots of hard work to do on the ranch, brothers who are less than interested in getting married and convincing Regan to at least give things a try with Mason.
This first book in the series did not disappoint. Regan and Mason exchanged such funny and charming emails which is what got me hooked into the story, but then when Regan arrives on the ranch she begins to see that just maybe this is life could offer her all she ever wanted. Mason is a great guy with a lot on his plate. He accepts what he has to do to achieve his goals and keep the ranch, but he never expected to find love in the process. Both these characters grew, not only in the responsible mature way one must at some point in your life, but mentally and emotionally too. This was a delightful couple and I cheered them on from start to finish. Cora Seton writes wonderful contemporary romances centered around family that makes you laugh, cry, and feel like you are part of that family. This first book is a strong introduction to the series and I am really looking forward future installments.

Bored and lonely Regan is surfing the web when she comes across an ad placed for an email bride by a military man who wants to retire to a beat up ranch. Highly amused by this she writes a kick ass response basically taking the piss out of Mason, so when he replies to her and she finds they actually hit it off through email she is stunned. Even more stunned when they Skype and she sees Mason is hot as well as kind and funny, so what's a girl to do?
When Mason surprises her with a visit when he leaves the military, the reality of their situation hits Regan like a ton of bricks. She has her own life and her own problems which include being booked in for artificial insemination in a few weeks. But when she agrees to accompany Mason out to his ranch can she find everything she has been looking for in this unexpected man and the ranch they could call home?
Loved, loved this book. It is light and fun with just the right amount of sexy. Completely not what I expected form the cover and synopsis. I loved both Mason and Regan as well as the characters being introduced into the world we will journey through the series. I honestly can't find anything to complain about!! This book is very enjoyable, not very long but it doesn't need to be. I have been eagerly awaiting the second installment and am sure I will be the same with the third.

This is such a great book. I think I've read it 4 times now. Cora Seton has a whole bunch of books in several series set in Chance Creek. Some of the heroes are soldiers, cowboys, ranchers, SEALs and various combinations of those. All the books are great. This time I re-read it because I was about to start A SEAL's Oath, which reminded me I had to finish this series. I love this book so much.
The start of this book is a crazy situation that means a family of brothers (all in different services of the USA military) have to find wives and get married within a year. One of them has to have a child in that time and the Navy SEAL is the eldest and about to separate from the SEALs. He puts an advertisement on the internet to find a wife and the heroine sees it after it goes viral. She is a bit down and ends up responding to the ad--but with no intention of leaving NYC and marrying our hero. He manages to get her to the ranch to give him and ranch-life a try and the rest is fun, romantic, sometimes funny history.

I had high hopes for this book because the premise sounded great, but it was kind of boring. I really liked the beginning part especially where she wrote the letter in the beginning to reply for his Wife Wanted ad, but from there it went downhill. I may try to read about the other brothers and hope that the series gets better.

I loved the banter between the two MCs at the beginning of the book. The whole premise of an e-mail ordered bride was intriguing. The hero, Mason Hall, and his four brothers, are able to reclaim their family land only if they meet the requirements: get hitched and have a baby within the year. This is the first book in the series and follows the oldest brother, who puts a Wife Wanted ad for himself and his brothers online. That's where the fun starts. In a drunken moment, the heroine Regan Anderson responds to the ad and thus begins the weirdest get together two people can have. It's like online dating but on a different level. There were challenges along the way which added drama to the overall storyline. This was a fun and easy read, with a few laugh out loud moments :)

Apakah Heloise memang sejak awal memegang hak atas peternakan itu? Saya kurang paham bagian ini.
Romansnya terasa banget instannya. Setidaknya Regan masih menunjukkan tanda-tanda ragu dan khawatir. Dia juga sempat takut kalau ternyata Mason itu penipu, yang sangat wajar mengingat bagaimana mereka bertemu.
Saya suka dengan plot Mason dan Regan membangun kembali Peternakan Hall. Dengan menunjukkan bagaimana mereka bekerja sama, saya jadi lebih percaya dengan perkembangan hubungannya mereka.
Bagian plot yang kurang saya suka adalah ketika Mason dipaksa untuk membayar utang-utang pamannya. Rasanya berlebihan sekali kalau sampai ada toko bahan bangunan yang tidak mau menjual barang-barangnya sampai Mason melunasi utang pamannya. Apalagi barang yang mau Mason beli itu bakal langsung dia bayar.
Secara keseluruhan, novel ini bolehlah. Memang segala sesuatunya terasa instan di sini, tapi juga manis dan pastinya Mason bisa bikin banyak pembaca klepek-klepek.

Maybe that was it. When was the last time anyone had thought he was hilarious? When was the last time anyone had poked this kind of gentle fun at him? As Lieutenant Commander he was respected and feared and held the lives of his men in his hands.
Shouldn't she give old-fashioned romance one last try? Here was a man who wanted the same things she did-marriage, a family. She hadn't set out to be a single mother. That had been her fall-back plan.

Wow! Absolutely Fabulous Book That I Highly Recommend!!
I downloaded this ebook today and read it in one sitting. I could not put it down and absolutely adored this book. What a wonderful love story.
Mason Hall is a Navy Seal and is heading home in a couple of weeks. He has the opportunity to reclaim his family's ranch which was taken away from his family when his father passed away. Mason's uncle was his father's business partner and wanted the whole shebang all to himself. The uncle has now passed away his wife is giving the ranch back to Mason and his three brothers but they have left it in a horrible condition. Poor Mason and his brothers have so many hoops to jump through for the old biddy. All four have to be married within one year and at least one of them has to produce an heir. Obviously things are going to have to move at warp speed to find a gal they really care for, court them, marry and impregnate with the delivery before the year is up. Mason has a great plan for the four of them to find wives and settle down. He wants a marriage like his parents had, filled with a deep abiding love and mutual respect with playfulness thrown in. In addition, he wants to marry only once for a lifetime. Wow...what a guy. He is deep and insightful.
Regan Anderson has been unable to find love and has given up or meeting someone, falling in love, marrying, and having children so she has decided to do the next best thing. In just a few weeks she has an appointment to start her family by way of a sperm donor. She has quit her job in NYC and moved to a smaller place to save money as she opens her own business and prepares for her insemination and hopefully the birth of her child. On Friday, her final day at her job, she comes home to celebrate with a bottle of wine. It is when she gets online that she spots Mason’s Wife Wanted ad. She finds it a bit humorous and is sure the ad is fake. By this time she has more than a major buzz going on she decides to write to him just for the fun of it and she is surprised when he responds. They hit it off and enjoy emailing and Skyping daily. Mason's instinct knows this is the only woman for him. If he can just keep her talking to him until he gets home he thinks he can convince her that he is the man for her. They have already begun to grow close and look forward to their daily chats but Regan does not want to consider moving from NYC. It had been her dream for so many years but now she is not so sure it is truly her dream anymore. She's lonely in a crowd of millions.
Will Mason be able to convince her to come with him to Montana to give him a few weeks to win her over? What will happen when they walk into a ranch that has practically gone to ruin? Will she turn tale and run back to NYC?

This had a quirky set-up, but no more so than you'd expect from a modern mail-order bride story. Thanks to a crazy old aunt, Mason (a soon-to-be ex-Navy SEAL) and his three younger brothers need to get married ASAP if they're going to keep the family ranch deep in cattle country, Montana. Baby-crazy Regan has just about given up on finding love in the Big Apple and has made an appointment with a turkey baster when she runs across a too-good-to-be-true ad on Facebook. While at first this might seem a little trope-heavy (SEALs and cowboys and babies, oh my!), the email Regan sends Mason in response to his personal ad hooked me--drunken Jane Austen references FTW! Seton made the characters into more than just a checklist of desirable romance MC traits, and who can resist a home--er, ranch reno story? Being free (at least for now) didn't hurt, either. Fun, light, quick cowboy read.

Cute fast read. The story starts with an e-mail relationship when the heroine answers the hero's want ad for a bride while she is drunk. The series of emails and texts are fun and well done and you could see how the hero would want to pick the heroine as is bride. The hero needs a wife to inherit the family ranch and he takes her there to see how she likes it. The story moves along well and is pretty plausible on the developing relationship front.

The verdict. The plot IS ridiculous, esp the debt (WTH, man!). But it's cute, light, and melodrama-free. Just what I needed at the moment. I think I'm going to pick up a sequel the next time I want some cotton candy.

Not a bad little story, which I got as a freebie off Amazon. It was an easy read, funny in places and can be read as a standalone, but as the series is about four brothers, I may read the other three at some point, see how they get on.
