This is Volume 9 of "Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World (Manga)", written and illustrated by Yashu. I absolutely love this manga series about Cain Von Silfert, A young boy with an extremely powerful magic granted to him by the seven gods and goddeses of the Elsforth Kingdom. Few know about the magic Cain possesses, but several Royals and Nobles, as well as Cain's father, as shown in previous volumes. At only 13 years of age, he is already engaged to the King's daughter, Teles (age 13); her best friend and daughter of A Duke, Silk (age 13); and the lead commander woman (age unknown because she is an elf warrior who lives a very long time but looks like she's in her mid-twenties); and every girl in the kingdom, young and old, are in love with Cain. This episode is about a mission direct from the King, instructing Cain to protect the Holy Woman Her Reverence Hinata, who is only 13 years old, herself. The King sends Silk, the Duke's daughter, with Cain as a companion for the Holy woman. It is rumored by the gods that Hinata is in danger because the Pope's Faction, which include the Pope's Royal Guards, want to assassinate her, and blame it on the kingdom of Elsforth. Cain knows who he can truly trust in his mission, but there are way too many people who seem like they want her dead. Cain must figure out who and who not to trust when Hinata's life is on the line. I gave this book 5 stars, and this mission is not complete, because it will continue in Volume 10.
What a stupid arc. A holy woman that they want to assassinate for no specified reason - if I understand correctly, the gods can just bless someone else to be their messenger. Is she opposing the pope in some way? If the pope controls the government and all her guards, why not just have her “accidentally” die in their own country, where it would be easy to cover up? In a world where the gods very concretely exist and communicate with their followers, how exactly is this corrupt pope their religious leader? It makes zero sense. And of course the holy woman is just going to be added to his harem 🙄 Cain was initially intelligent and didn’t want to leave the holy woman, but then allowed himself to be convinced by the guards he already knows are corrupt, and leaves for the stupidest reason.
This had so much awkward phrasing, like “may the protection of the religion of marineford welcome you.” Who talks like that? He says it a couple more times too, “the religion of marineford.”
Cain is hiding his disciple status but just uses perfect heal in front of the bishop. People are going to wonder how she healed from an incurable poison, don’t you think? He already grew back the limbs of the bunny sisters 🤦🏻♀️
Cain has lived for several extra years and trained hard, but is still behaving like a naive 12 year old. It’s just poor writing

I really enjoyed reading this volume. Cain has such charismatic personality that attracts so many people. I sort enjoy that fact that the gods set him up with another wife.
