I withheld a lot in my last review. Reading both volume 2 and 3. I found myself stuck on the Arte power of marionettes. Just like the Yelenetta control dragons & wyvern. Arte is a Master puppet in making. But more fascinating is her character I think she's quite a true noble grace and she's really brave to fight for her family sake. Eventhough Van did build the puppet but without Arte marionette power. The puppet wouldn't become a killing machine. Still she respects her puppets like her true subordinates. I wonder if it's possible for puppets to gain soul or at least something similar like artificial intelligence.
I think about how she should at least be more confident in herself and ability. But after he convinced Van, an older person soul inside that body. I truly realise she's quite a nobility soul with pride and refuse to depend on a hero to save her territory. She did accept the manpower but yeah. They were there to protect her on Van order.
I'd love to have a spin off just focusing on Arte. Not that I didn't enjoy this series. We know well how OP Van and his fortress happy residents is. But watching Arte character growth and revelation is quite fun and enjoyable. And I think more could be written about her.
I also want Murcia to have more chapters in the future eventhough I think the king already hinting that he got plans for him. Maybe to assist Van.
But I do wish Panamera would accidentally smack Van one day. Like she accidentally listen to Van inner thoughts while he ogle her.

Growth and recognition

Van continues to be a lovely person pulled along by the people around him. After bringing his new weapons to battle, which helped achieve victory, he returns to an investigation of his mercantile activities with Bell & Rango co. New business opportunities and fun await! Along with an increase in the races that call Seatoh village home.

Not exploring the MC's power and why can he make so many stuff in one day is still a weak point in the novel. Despite my dislike of many things, I still find myself enjoying the novel. What I'm not enjoying the most is the author's horrendous naming. His characters have such awful names that they put all other light novels to shame.

The battle to retake Scudet has splintered into myriad aspirations: fight off Yelenetta's wyvern attacks; double-back to protect vulnerable populations, elsewhere in the Kingdom of Scuderia; and assess whether going on the offensive, and marching into Yelenetta itself, is a viable option.

EASYGOING TERRITORY DEFENSE v3 observes Van's departure from the burned and bloodied battlefields surrounding the sundered estate of Scudet and of Van's subsequent implication in the war council soon thereafter. Alas the king is an amiable guy, and he knows the weapons and insights he previously gleaned from the nine-year-old baron are really, really good. King Dino is a relatively benevolent leader, but he's definitely the type guy who is keen on reciprocal political dynamics: Sure, Van can stay in the rear in the next fight with Yelenetta, but in return, Van and Seatoh will provide staging and resources for the coming fight.

Van's impish charm and fervent ingenuity have brought him far. But when faced with the itchy fingers of a war council of middle-aged men (plus Panamera), the young man faces one of his earliest tests. Will Van fold under pressure? Will his authority, however small, hold any weight? Will any of the other nobles dare to back him up? At the war council in EASYGOING TERRITORY DEFENSE v3, readers encounter experienced warriors, shy in-laws (Arte's father, Count Ferdinatto), Van's increasingly irritable father, and others.

The amusing twist to all of this war drama is that Van has zero interest in actually fighting for his country. The kid just wants to sit back, enjoy his star city, build-up local defenses, and enjoy another BBQ with his subjects. That's why he gets pissed off when the other nobles question the integrity of retrenching to a defensible stronghold. That's also why, when Arte finds herself in a difficult position of possibly defending the very family who abandoned her, Van rebukes his peers: Having a place to call home matters.

The current volume also works on exposing Seatoh to the outside world. As far as new observers go, it's more than just King Dino's troops who stop by on their way to Yelenetta. Van also plays host to an auditor/investigator from the Business Guild, a pair of representatives from the Mary Chamber of Commerce, and a gaggle of inscrutably annoying dwarves. Most of the time, Van delights in showing off his fancy little town and its super-cool defenses (Van: "The gates were already wide open, so I could see their delicious reactions," page 95; and "Back in the manor's reception room, our three visitors sat on beautifully ornate sofa chairs, looking as though they'd had their souls ripped from their bodies," page 108).

EASYGOING TERRITORY DEFENSE v3 is a fun volume. A flash of continuity errors can make a scene or two confusing (characters are inconsistently referenced by name or title), but overall, it's another fun volume. The mix of urban city governance, civil engineering, and regional noble politics can mean some chapters move a lot slower than others, and yet, overall, it's still a good book. Just as one can't help but feel proud of the young baron when he carelessly lists off all of the strange, massive monsters he's killed in the nearby forests with ease (e.g., scaled wolf, black boar, sanguine tiger, armored lizard), one also feels that twinge of awkwardness and boredom every moment Van is roped into building another fancy piece of infrastructure for someone who hasn't really earned it (e.g., a massive public bath, military housing, a smithy).
