This was a really great story with wonderful lead characters. It starts out with Ada marrying her jerk boyfriend who basically talks her into it (intimidates her) at a Vegas chapel. You know she's not going to be happy and after a couple of years, they're divorced. Jay is a MMA fighter. He's been burnt by an old girlfriend, so he doesn't plan on dating anyone or getting serious. Ada's birthday comes around and she, her best friend, Elle, and a number of her friends go out partying. Jay spots her the minute she walks in the door. He's not sure what the pull is, he just knows he has to be near her. After talking, drinks and dancing, Ada and Jay go back to his place for what they both consider a night to remember. Jay goes to sleep thinking he wants to see more of her, but Ada is gone when he wakes up. Jay cannot believe he doesn't have a phone number or way of contacting her.
A week goes by and they both continue to think about the other. When Jay is knocked out in a match, he awakens in the ER to the most beautiful set of eyes, and can't believe he's found Ada again. She's his nurse and he decides then he won't miss another chance at getting to know her and spending time together.
But what happens when Ada starts getting threatening text messages? Is it Greg, her fellow employee who asks her out daily, too stubborn to take no for an answer? What about Cassie, the nurse who doesn't think Ada is good enough for Jay and wants him for herself? Is the ex-husband to blame because he wants Ada back? Or does Blake, Jay's best friend, want more with Ada, enough he's willing to risk his friendship with Jay? As the relationship between Jay and Ada grows, so does the tension and the seriousness of the threats. Who is it and what will happen?
I absolutely loved Jay!! The man is hot, tattooed, sexy, protective, kind and just adores Ada. Ada is a strong female lead that I truly enjoyed reading. Often the female leads whine and complain, but Ada is strong and very likeable. We get both point of views from Ada and Jay which I loved. This is a stand alone book - I think - because it's got one awesome HEA and a really great epilogue that leaves the characters in a very happy place. It's a really good story that I would recommend, and one I'm glad I read.
