I’m surrounded by fierce female wolves, all fighting for Alpha Theron’s attention. And me? I’m just a plain human, “wallpaper” as he calls me—nothing special.
But that doesn’t stop him from playing his game of temptation. The pull between us scares me because I know he’ll consume me in the name of passion.
So, in this unfair pack, I had no choice but to leave.
Gertty Rudraw is an indie romance author who has taken the genre by storm with her popular series. She writes both contemporary and paranormal page-turning romances . Readers consume faster than she can produce. And you will be pretty happy about that!
She lives with her husband and two awesome sons in Sedona, enjoying plenty of farm animals, and devotes her life to writing stories. If you are looking for romantic books with alpha heroes who have to contend with sassy heroines then you might just love Gertty’s novels.
Straight up a cheating book .Man is a whor#monger and she was less than a rug .I hate wasting my time on books that cheat as if its ok .Shell take you as is . No.he cheats pretty much through the book and the door mat will like doing what he says as he still has his fun .

She's Pissing On A Stick, His Dick's In OW's Mouth, Then Lies That There's Been No One Since Her, Never Addressed This
Cannot relate to the kind of person who would be convinced that someone could genuinely believe themselves in love with Seren but ALLOW Vanessa to wrap her mouth around your dick.
Doesn't matter that you flubbed out.
The abusive fuck allowed it to happen.
Which means immediately there is no baby in my brain, there is a coerced pregnancy that she forces herself to gestate.
Again, she was finding out she was pregnant to her abuser, while her abuser was centering himself over her emotional response to his choices SO MUCH that he allowed another person to undress, get on her knees and wrap her mouth around his cock.
This man is a toxic abuser whom the Author allows to Emotionally dominate, and reframe, every choice he makes.
Once his dick is in another womans mouth, abortion pills or you think his children should not expect more of their father.
Abuse victims should not choose to become parents.
The ultimate romaniticisation of a toxic situationship, is choosing to continue gestating a child that doesn't yet exist, because you imprinted on it your trauma issues.
Gawd damn Neoliberal Fascists and National Socialists need stopped togethers.
Seren isn't real though.
She exists for the privileged people, who traumatise themselves with unnecessary regret, to live through, and feel better about the choices they would have made had they known better.
But still falling into the same trap of manifesting symptoms of the arrogant and projecting them onto the ignorant "virgin".
She's for the Unseen, Unloved and utterly Unfucked to live through.
Green Pilled Patriarchial Parable of Toxicity.
The abusive trope of killing off Vanessa so he NEVER has to emotionally reject her and thus, Seren must live with the fact she died with his Emotional ans Social Validation as his chosen one.
Seren will always be the one he settled for, and wished he chose.
Pathetic bitch accepted that.
And no, bringing Leon into the picture just adds "Child Abuser" to the list because even with him, they emotionally centre themselves and abuse him with their control issues, both.
Can't relate.
But then, the gated communities are feeling it.
The dropping birthrates because men don't want to breed with drones. And interesting women, who know how to fuck, aren't interested in people who think sex is about perceptions of physical characteristics.
The only way a story that cops out by killing off the person he chose, is they have to stand in front of everyone, and UNchoose her.
Even in death he must disavow Vanessa when he chose her over Seren.
And that is even more important that Vanessa was seen dying for their pack. That death must be for the pack, and cannot be allowed to emotionally bleed into Seren's future.
Vanessa made her inauthentic choices, demanding everyone continue to pretend choosing her was a true ans authentic choice, is called communal abuse.
We all die.
Doesn't mean you get to take shit that isn't meant for you.
Not that I believe in Soul Mates, but the story does and he Cognitively chose to be Inauthentic and he had to Cognitively choose to be Authentic is the exact language he used to Inauthentically choose Vanessa, he had to loudly unchoose her, especially in death.
My favourite thing about this wolf mentality is that its bullshit.
This is not how wolves behave.
A lone male must woo a female wolf away from her pack, to start a new pack with him.
Packs are families of parents and offspring.
Its the breeding female that leads, he follows from her and runs to get food, for her.
But alas, the little virginal lambs need their heroines pure and sick and their men whores and HPV-ridden, if not STD-ridden.
He didn't just cheat, he took her to wife.
He took Vanessa to Status and Bullied her.
If Seren was a real person, only forcing him to undo any gratitude he feels for Vanessa, would make him trustworthy.
But no, he gets the convenient out of a Soap Opera death.
Oh the safely theatrical, do make me laugh.
Patriarchial Pick Mes following men around, using words they appropriated from marginalised women like Disabled women, LGBTQ+ women and Black women.
Can't relate to a life so colourfully colourless, you continue to misrepresent it with myths of copium.
The writers inspired by E L James make me laugh out loud at their audacity.
Au Dah Sit Tee.
But then, Christian Grey cheats on her by emotionally seeking solace from a woman his dick was previously inside, and it never gets addressed either.
How pathetic that even your fantasy men are abusers who never have to exist without centering themselves in their own toxic.abuses.
And Titian did cheat, they share one body, one emotion, one social interaction.
What copium.
The "i fuck her, make love to you" Pick Mes are at it.
Genuinely, if your partner has fucked around on you, and you are convinced by this performative short term bullshit, then you are why they are likely still fucking around.
This was quite the letdown. Angsty at the start that fizzled out without any real resolution other than an I'm sorry from the H. The safety gang will not like this one at all. So I'll warn you. He knows the h is his mate, but he sleeps and parades numerous women in front of her. Because she's human she couldn't sense this, but overhears him telling his beta as such while tearing her down. The shifter's wolves and their human forms are separate in their minds. Here you have the human side Theron, and then wolf side Titan. Before leaving the pack she sleeps with Titan which I know is confusing but they're separate beings in the same body. Able to switch back and forth. She runs away after hearing he will mate and mark someone else as his Luna. She runs away without a trace and Theron follows through with the ceremony, but when he bites the ow Vanessa his wolf completely abandons him and he's just left as a human. Always the wolves paying the price for these stupid alphas. Which Theron is not. He's the most beta alpha I've ever read. She becomes pregnant of course and drops her kid at the gates of the pack when he's one year's old as he's having trouble living in the human realm. Left him in the rain with just a note. Mother of the year right there 🥴. Leon their son after a year of living with Theron starts developing abandonment issues and Theron tracks down h. Why can't I remember her name? So sorry. She comes back. They're attacked by a rival pack trying to take over their business which I have no idea what kind of business this pack runs. They're all extremely rich, but there's no details as to why that is. Anyways, Theron is shot. h decides she can't live without the beta, I mean alpha, and all is well and everyone is happy. Except me 😆.
Overall it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. The H was weak. The h boring and had no character. The ow Vanessa dies conveniently and everybody was sad. I don't understand why. She wasn't kind to the h. Who knows 🤷.

For the past year and a half or so, I've been really getting into the rejected mate, secret baby storyline and have been on the lookout for them. I stumbled across Gertty Rudraw's Alpha’s Unclaimed Mate and it sounded exactly like what I was looking for.
I just gonna say it the only two characters I really liked were Luke (the MMC's best friend) and Elle (the maid), they were the best-supporting characters. MFC Seren was naive and made some poor life choices, she was a little too much of a doormat and I was rejoicing when she finally got her act together. As for Theron the MMC, I hated him and he never surpassed that hurdle. Dude was a twatwaffle of the highest order.
The characters may not have been my favorite but the story surprised the heck out of me. You just know how certain stories are supposed to go and there's nothing wrong with that but Rudraw did the exact opposite of what I thought she was going to do at every pivotal moment. I was like, "What is happening?" She didn't choose the route mostly taken and I have to give her credit for that alone.
If you’re looking for a heartbreaking #Overheard story, this works. Unfortunately I didn’t like the characters and as usual the heroine gave in too easily. Also she drops her baby off in the rain and just leaves him with dad…like what mother would traumatize their child that way.
I had some problems with the timeline, it was hard to keep track of the years as they went by. I feel like the ending was a little rushed. Both main characters tested my patience from time to time, over all a decent read.
Terrible but entertaining. MMC was just.. not a good person? And didn’t even realize he was doing wrong until he lost everyone around him. And then there was barely any groveling and I LOVE groveling
So many things I want to say, but its a jumble right now. The separation of human and wolf wasn't explained very well, specifically since it was a major plot point for the MMC. I didn't like the fact that the MMC bangs women left and right and doesn't see anything wrong with it. He has no problem making his fated his side piece without her knowledge. He never really made it up to jer, either. The only reason he tried to be with her was because he had no say in the OW staying or leaving. Matter of fact, he wanted her to stay. He dithered a lot and felt sorry for himself, but did nothing outwardly for the heroine to redeem himself except show his anger and apologize repeatedly. He's a horrible hero and the heroine was a bit of a doormat. Not a fan.
So I decided to give this a try for the inevitable grovel. Sadly, I wasn’t really impressed by the grovel or the book in general.
The MMC, Theron, is a raging manwhore. He knows MFC, Seren is his fated mate. She’s a human and he’s not impressed by her so he wants to take a chosen Luna and keep Seren on the side. When she overhears this she’s understandably devastated.
He has a wolf side, Titan, who is completely loyal to Seren and only wants her. Things get weird here because he can do some wolf man thing where he’s still a man but Titan has taken over instead of his normal human side. Titan and Serennend up sharing their first times together before Theron resurfaces. It’s weird, ok. He ends up having sex with her too even though he’s disappointed that Titan had been her first. See. Weird.
Ultimately decides to give him a certain amount of time to contact her after their tryst together. When he fails this test she goes to him and rejects him. Things go downhill for him. He’s very upset but not enough to cancel his mating ceremony with the chosen Luna. When he marks the OW his wolf, Titan, leaves him making Theron essentially a human.
Meanwhile, Seren is trying to move on and ends up finding out she’s pregnant. Of course, it’s like a super baby since he’s an alpha werewolf.
Things I really disliked : Theron marking and claiming the OW. The OW tries to give him a BJ to get him hard even though it doesn’t work, I hated it. When the child(named Leon) is 1 Seren essentially abandons the child in the wolf territory so he can be with his people. Her leaving her kid was a huge disappointment.
Things I liked: That Theron couldn’t get it up for OW. I loved how miserable he was and how he kept hurting even though Seren was doing great without him. He suffered until she eventually gave him a second chance. It’s like 90% before she forgives him.
Do I recommend this? Eh, not really. The pay off wasn’t worth the stuff I didn’t enjoy.

This is a well written frenemies to lovers romance with strong characters in Seren and Theron. The author does a great job developing the story and building the relationship. She takes you into their lives with steam and kept me turning the pages with drama, action and danger along with the twists and turns along the way. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
I picked this book up on a whim after seeing it advertised on social media. The story was interesting. Cliche in a good way, with some unexpected additions. Four stars only because the last 20% was kind of a bummer. The build up to their reunion was great, but then the actual making up felt rushed and downplayed in comparison to the rest of the story.
This was written to portray the h as heartless, selfish, cruel, and being a womanizer. Even mated the OW as his Luna who gave him her v-card. Why even mentioned this?
The heroine was a weak, a pushover, and pathetic. Learning that the h was keeping her around as a side piece due to being fated was why she left but slept with him anyway. The h was unlikable. The HEA was weak and not believable.
Too extreme in making the h to be unlikable and the heroine being weak. Wasted time spent on this book. Passed on this one.
Sometime in 2025 I read this book and then I promptly forgot about it. I’ll have to skim it to give a proper review but the fact that I literally barely remember the situationship by reading other people’s reviews probably says a lot about the story on its own. Good or bad I usually remember something! But here it’s just a blank. Oh well.
DNF. It wasn’t bad writing but I really wish authors would quit writing alphas of shifter packs as spineless idiots. This man is supposed to be an alpha and a strong business man but he’s so insecure and lets literally everyone else around him make decisions for him. Not very cutesy or mindful. Actually, very annoying and unbelievable.
Also (spoiler) …
The way she abandons her baby is so horrible. That’s not a heroine or a Luna in my opinion.
Summary: This is a paranormal, second chance romance with surprise pregnancy. Spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
This story follows Seren and Theron. At some point when she was younger, the FMC came to be in the care of the MMCs family, who are the Alpha and Luna of a large wolf pack. As a human, she always felt like the outsider having never been invited to or involved with anything pack related. Early on her and the MMC form a very close friendship that ultimately turns to a secret love.
The MMC goes away for training and school as he prepares to become the next alpha. The FMC had done the same although the MMC didn’t know this. Upon his return home, they share in some stolen moments, all of this kept in secret, until one day the FMC overhears the MMC say some really horrible things about her. She is absolutely heartbroken and we find out they are fated mates, and Theron’s wolf, sensing the FMCs devastation, goes to her to provide her comfort which results in them being together sexually.
Unable to get over what was said and also finding out the MMC intends to bond with another, the FMC rejects the MMC as her mate and pulls a runner. The MMC realizes she’s gone and loses his mind along with his wolf.
Shortly after leaving, the FMC realizes she is pregnant and after the baby is born, it doesn’t take her long to realize he is also a werewolf. At this point she makes the tough choice to send him to his father so he can thrive and grow amongst other wolves. One night she arranges for the baby to be left on the MMCs doorstep and leaves town again before he can find her.
Now that he has his son, his wolf returns, however, he never stops looking the FMC and a few months after she had left her son, the MMC tracks her down and convinces her to come home for their son but has secret hopes of groveling and convincing her to stay and be his mate and Luna. Not wanting to leave her son anymore, she makes plans to extend her stay.
Threats to the pack force her to confront her feelings for the MMC before she realizes she’s still very much in love with him and wants to be with him. The book ends with a glimpse ahead in the future and the three of them living happily together.
⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️
*The overheard in this is pretty brutal. 🌶️: 2/5: Most of the spicy scenes were involving the MMC with others but there were a few with the main characters.
Final thoughts: I am conflicted with this book. It has so many things that I love. The overheard was brutal. There’s a small scene with some OW drama. The keeping everything a secret, stolen moments aspect is something I love. So lots of angsty moments.
With that said, I can’t get over the FMC just leaving her son. I get returning him to the pack once realizing he’s a wolf but his baby suffered without his mommy and I just can’t seem to get over why the author had to write it this way. It seems it was done so the FMC could go back to NYC to work and save money for him but girlfriend you can work anywhere. That’s not a good enough reason to abandon your kid and I’m just struggling with not allowing this to ruin the book for me.
There was also no grovel. It was such a quick reunion and forgiveness. Like one second she’s angry, then he’s hurt and now all is suddenly forgiven.
I read ahead to the next book and it looks like something I’ll try so it’s clear the authors overall writing draws me in, there were just some things here that didn’t work for me so it’s a maybe regarding the recommendation.

This was a tough one to rate. There was a lot to like about it—I love a rejected mate story, and I especially love when the rejector really gets to feel the pain of his idiocy and has to grovel to win his mate back, all of which happen in this book. But what is missing for me is any sense of WHY Theron did what he did. Ok he was young and selfish. But he treated Seren like absolute shit, and he doesn’t get it until she leaves. And even then he only seems to realize it was wrong because it made her leave. In all of the flashbacks, he resents her for making his life difficult, he’s cruel to her and blames her for his guilt—but why did he reject her? When his dad finds out he did, he calls him an idiot. So if his dad wouldn’t have objected to him mating a human, what was the issue? He never has a moment where he realizes he was afraid of his feelings for her, or that his loyalty to his pack made it hard for him to accept her—he just didn’t seem to want her, and he was the only one who seemed to have a problem with her being human.
I also feel like their reconciliation was just like their split—spurred on by outside events, not any changes of feeling. Theron almost dies and so Seren takes him back. We don’t know why she forgives him all of a sudden. Because she finds out how hurt he was when she was gone? There is no recognition of what changed his perspective and how he will be different. He apologizes but never really explains what he’s apologizing, which makes the split and the reconciliation lack depth for me. Other than that”oh he’s nicer to me now,” I feel like Seren gets no closure for the way he treated her basically her whole life.
Finally, Theron and Seren (also I hate that their names rhyme!) are apart for maybe 2/3 of the book. I’m fine with following their separate lives and I love that Seren finds peace in herself and I love seeing her alone, but I didn’t connect with the two of them as a couple because I never really got to see them together. Oh, and part of Seren’s fresh start is that she starts working out and wearing makeup and cute clothes, and at no point does Theron tell her that’s not necessary or explain why he said what he said about her that inspired her to make those changes or even to apologize for it. I was hoping for a scene where he tells her he was an idiot and she was beautiful no matter what, but he just seems excited about her new look.
Overall, there were a lot of ingredients here that could have made for a great recipe if they were combined a little better.

Choices Have Consequences… and boy, does Theron learn that the hard way
Will she find her happy ever after and the family she’s wanted her whole life … including a perfect mate? Well, not so quick. Seren is a human. She’s lived with the pack since she was 11 years old and always been considered an outsider. She was called humiliating names, considered a rug rat and constantly looked down upon. However, since she lived on the alpha and luna’s estate, their son, Theron, became her best friend. Ahhh, but childhood doesn’t last forever.
Theron, will become the pack’s alpha when he grows up…. and uhhh, that’s the problem. Yes, he might have ‘grown up’ physically and age wise, but that’s about it. He spends three years at ‘alpha school’ and returns an arrogant, self-centered young man ready to take on alpha duties. Having a human by his side just doesn’t fit into his self-centered, and selfish lifestyle. So what if he learns that Seren is his fated mate. She’s a human and not fit for the role of a luna. He’ll just keep the rug rat around for his convenience and bedroom needs.
So, Theron’s plan was to keep it a secret that Seren is his mate, not only from the pack but from her too. After all, being a human she’ll never feel the mate bond. He decides to make Vanessa his Chosen Luna, someone who is just as stuck-up and obnoxious as himself. Problem is, Titan, his wolf, doesn’t go along with the plan and wow, is Theron in for a rude awakening.
As for Seren, she learns of Theron’s plans for her and runs away… to ‘human land’. But she’s not alone, she’s carries Theron’s baby boy in her womb.
🤔OBSERVATIONS:
✒︎ All of the above is just the beginning of the story… there’s a LOT of angst, frustration and pitiful ‘people’ left to discover.
✒︎ LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that a simple ‘I’m Sorry’ statement didn’t work here and that forgiveness and trust have to be earned.
✒︎ Also loved how Theron learned he made a choice, not a mistake…. That a mistake is burning toast, but a choice is making a decision… and choices have consequences.
✒︎ Can’t help but wonder how the story would have progressed if the Vanessa situation didn’t happen. Don’t want to say more since I don’t want to give spoilers.

Considering Seren was Theron’s fated mate, I couldn’t get past how terribly he treated her. Not only did he keep her completely in the dark about his true intentions, but he also had a fiancée he planned to claim as his chosen mate. As a human, Seren was already looked down upon by the pack, despite being adopted by the Alpha’s family when she was just eleven. Growing up alongside Theron, her childhood friend, it was only natural that her feelings for him deepened into something more. Yet Theron was a walking contradiction—burning hot with passion one minute, only to turn icy cold the next, it was enough to drive any girl crazy. Sure, there were political complexities with Theron slated to become the next Alpha, but let’s face it, he was a selfish, self-centered jerk who thought he could keep Seren hanging around for his convenience, to cater to his needs whenever it suited him. The intriguing twist, though, was Theron’s wolf, Titan, who seemed to be everything Theron wasn’t. Titan wanted Seren, truly, and fiercely desired to claim her as their mate. The moment Seren overheard Theron confide in his Beta how he really felt about her, it shattered her. It became painfully clear she had been a fool to believe his lies, leading her to make the heartbreaking decision to leave. Titan’s devastation at her departure was palpable. So, if you enjoy a story brimming with angst, this one delivers in spades. Theron eventually realizes the gravity of his mistakes, but by then, it’s too little, too late. I was fully invested in this story, eagerly turning the pages wondering how, or if, Theron could ever redeem himself after everything he put Seren through. Unfortunately, their reunion left me wanting more. His weak apologies didn’t feel like enough to mend the deep wounds he had inflicted and I thought she forgave him too readily. In fact, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Theron was still manipulating Seren, using her child to lure her back home. Despite that, I absolutely loved watching Seren evolve into a strong, self-assured woman who wasn’t afraid to stand her ground and for Theron to learn that you shouldn’t mess with fate! Alpha's Unclaimed Mate by Gertty Rudraw takes readers on a tantalizing journey filled with fierce competition, undeniable attraction, and a life-altering secret. The story follows a human woman trapped in the world of powerful female wolves vying for the attention of Alpha Theron. As the protagonist, she stands out in her simplicity, feeling like "wallpaper" in a pack of fierce rivals, yet there’s a magnetic pull between her and Theron that refuses to be ignored.
What makes this romance particularly compelling is the raw tension between the protagonist and Theron. Despite her feeling of inadequacy as a human in a world of shifters, she’s not immune to Theron’s undeniable allure. He calls her "nothing special," but his actions say otherwise as he plays a dangerous game of temptation that leaves her torn between fear and desire. Rudraw beautifully captures that push-and-pull dynamic, making you root for the protagonist even as she grapples with her emotions.
The forced proximity trope is expertly used here, building the heat between the two characters, but the real kicker is the twist—she leaves, keeping her secret hidden: she’s pregnant with Theron’s baby. This secret baby element adds a layer of complexity and emotional stakes to the story. It’s not just about the forbidden romance anymore; it’s about her protecting a future she hadn’t anticipated.
As a billionaire werewolf shifter romance, Alpha's Unclaimed Mate serves up plenty of steamy moments and high tension, but it’s the emotional depth and the protagonist’s journey from feeling unseen to holding the most powerful secret of all that makes this story so engaging.
If you love strong alpha heroes, secret babies, and a heroine who finds her strength in unexpected places, this book is a must-read. Rudraw delivers on the romance, the stakes, and the chemistry, making this a story you won’t be able to put down!.

If I’m honest, this story kind of really bothered me. Typically I’m all for rejected mate and I’m glad the FMC was the one to do it. However, in my opinion the MMC actions were too unforgivable.
Firstly, there is OW written in this book and the MMC does have on page relations with them. I’m so not a fan of OW, so this was a big turn off.
Next, the dude did not at all even like the FMC until after she finally ditched his a$$. Which would be fine, but THEY GREW UP TOGETHER. Also, he literally “cheated” on her with multiple women, knowing that she was his mate and that never gets addressed.
Then, after she left him, he knew he messed up and wants her back and was being a whiny baby, but still decided to mate some other chick he couldn’t even get it up for. Just so confusing too. How was he even able to sleep with others in the first place knowing who his mate was and why did that only matter after she rejected him?
Okay, I’ve been dogging on the MMC but not the FMC, so it’s her turn now. Really the only big issue I had with her was after she had the baby, she loved on him for like a year and then was like oh I can’t take care of a wolf baby AND SENDS HIM PACKING. Not kidding. Sends him on a plane, has a random person drop him off with the MMC, and leaves. Just trusting he’ll be fine. What?! Then when the MMC tries to get her to come back with him and is like what about your kid she is like oh yeah, I guess I’ll stop by for a week and then be on my way. Girl….
Just a more serious side note here, but this book also includes talks of abortion. Which would have been nice if it had been mentioned somewhere, but I digress.
Anyways, this is a long review, but it really was pissing me off. I will give credit though, the writing itself is good for this type of book. Just not the storyline. In my opinion. 2.5⭐️
Another one I liked because the hero ends up being miserable after his conses come quencing, and the heroine goes on to live her life and do pretty well. The initial dynamic is pretty standard angsty rejected mate fair:
I did think the second act where Seren The book did it so that Theron can continue having to look for Seren, but it made her look terrible, and no one even criticizes her for it.
But overall the book was nice brainless fun to me.
The writing of this book was much better than I expected. I was actually able to read it without cringing on every single page, like I normally do with shifter books. The story, though, did have some elements that just annoyed the crap out of me.
I like experiencing the angst and betrayal aspects of a story, but when they meet again later, and he barely does anything to apologize or win her back, that just tanks the whole thing. The way I understood it is he comes back, says I'm sorry and she goes back to the home. Then, he just hangs around and whines, and because he protected them during an attack, that must mean that all is forgiven. No! He treated her like crap pretty much most of her life. Then when she overhears him bad-talking her, she still ends up sleeping with him. She is such a doormat. I was actually so proud of her when she rejected him and left. He 100% deserved everything. I mean, getting mad at her and yelling because she waited in the rain for him while he was too busy screwing some other girl... yeah, he definitely had a loooot to make up for, and in my opinion, he totally didn't.
Plus, I get that he didn't sleep with Vanessa or anyone since they were together, but that doesn't really make up for the all the times that he slept with someone else, still knowing that Seren was his mate, before they were together. There is just so much to atone for.
She grew a spine when she left, but then when she went back to visit her son, she slowly lost it again and ended up back with him, even though he really didn't do anything to win her back. Ugh, it's just irritating.

ugh in a romance shifter slump and this was a little better but not that great.
The summary had me intrigued and the absolutely awful MMC in the first few chapters kept me reading. Like damnnn he's a womanizer, liar, cheater, all in an arrogant entitled package.
The FMC is a doormat in the beginning and I was waiting for the twist. Truly the back and forth povs of watching him spiral down with she was (mostly) thriving did a decent job at showing us the mmc was living with the consequences of his actions.
Things that held this back for me was it was a bit slow in the middle, has some typos, and time inconsistencies. I truly get annoyed when authors can put "x time later" in italics at the start of the chapter. 🙄. Also living the kid on the doorstep was ridiculous. I know she didn't want to be near MMC again but damnn just sacrifice your relationship with your child like that. Didn't make sense with her need for family.
Last two things. the ending/turning point felt rushed. The MMC protects his family and suddenly that's panty dropping turning point?? And what's up with the split personality between human and shifter. Ive read some books that do but this seemed to rely to much on the MMC wolf smoothing things over.
TBH I wish when the MMC lost his wolf. It didn't just disappear internally but actually left his body and found another man to occupy. I know it seems odd but that's where I thought this book was headed for a bit. The wolf was taking on a character role to itself and I hated the MMC so much I want the wolf spirit to leave the human and find a better body to cohabit.

Alpha's Unclaimed Mate is a standalone paranormal romance by Gertty Rudraw. This is a shifter romance around a rejected fated mate and the damage done to an alpha when his pride gets in the way of destiny that Fate had set out for him.
Over all, this was a good story. When pack alpha, Theron, makes a number of mistakes when it comes to his fated mate, Seren, she has no choice but to leave. Not only is her mate the pack alpha, he is also a billionaire boss, and he had been maneuvering things to have Seren by his side. Theron shows very quickly that he isn't a mate that is worthy of Seren.
Losing Seren takes Theron down the path of his self-made destruction, and he continues the path. It takes desperation and tragedy to bring them back together again and Theron needs to fight for his mate.
I liked Seren, and Theron is a mixed bag of emotions. I can see that they belong together and they do have a definite spark, yet, I found that Theron as a character lacked *something*. I feel that his redemption arc did not go deep enough to make this a fully satisfying read for me. But really, this was a fun book to distract myself with.

I don't understand why Gertty Rudraw's work doesn't rate as highly as others in the genre. Admittedly the men really do step on their dicks in a huge way, but the reason I like this author's books is because even though the men really are some serious a-holes, they do grovel very well and actually do take actions to try and redeem themselves. In a lot of other works, the dark male leads give some sob story or excuse, and voila with little too no effort at redemption and less character development, they're forgiven like someone has flicked a switch, or they've had a miraculous personality transplant and it always pisses me off. But so far in Gerty redraws work, there's a real development and change that is visible in her characters - it ISN'T just a flick of a switch. We're not TOLD they're changed, we see it happening, and the women evolve in much the same way. They might start off weak and timid, but they come into their own, and they make these men pay. So I'll keep reading them, when I've dropped other authors because the vibe is too rapey, and the men do diddly to redeem themselves yet the women are panting after them after being treated like garbage. To me, these are much better. So, yes, I do recommend this book, and I think I feel safe recommending this author.
