i read this 2 years ago. the plot is so good, the scenes is unique, i can also feel the characters and etc. this is the first horror book that i read on wattpad this is also the first one that made me cry and feel betrayed at the same time when it comes to horror genre. the ending of this book made me cry so much I didn't expect that and now, i read it again i still feel sad. this has book 2 with another characters but i can't still move on from this one maybe the reason is i can't watch other characters move without denise which is the main character of this story. the "white rose" scene was iconic and painful at the same time and lastly the "roof scene" can't forget that.

there's also a 3rd book the story was about "Ash" the character from book 1 and the story is after the book 1&2. i don't know if the female lead in that story was really denise cause it's kinda confusing but i hope its denise cause the way she moves, look and talk was really look like denise but i wish she didn't fall inlove with ash again please hahaha cause if that happen then it's a "fall inlove with her killer trope" i don't know how that relationship will work out even if it work out i don't know if i can accept that lol cause i pour a lot of feelings on the book 1 and ash was disgusting technically if u know what he did with yuko and other ppl (if u know then u know) .. and it's still not finished idk if the author has a plan on continuing that book cause she seems hiatus for many years now i wish she will continue that story cause i am curious for how many years.

I am not really a good writer myself.

Tuloy tuloy, walang hinto. Ang dahilan? Walang coma o kaya period. Maraming 'run on sentence'.

Here are my opinions on how the story was written:

First, the author has allotted individual chapters (POVs) for the principal characters and introduced their backgrounds. Kudos to this because there's a lot characters involved. Even the prominent & veteran writer, the master storyteller Sidney Sheldon(+), used this method/style in his novels. Just imagine, kung inilahad na lang niya basta yung mga tauhang nagsisigalaw and just let them move along the story w/o giving any details about their personalities, e baka nalito na rin ako. This would also give us an insight on how these characters would affect the development of the story.

Second one would be the genre itself. It is highly disturbing for a Mystery/Thriller novel and that makes it more interesting. Although, I admit, I wouldn't recommend this to 5th graders and below. But as a reader of legal-age, the element of Mystery/Suspense/Thriller was quite effective. Pati ako ay sumakit ang ulo sa kakaisip kung sino talaga yung pumapatay, and apparently, also pulling the strings to make everyone do the job for him/her.

Third, the novel is fast-paced.

This is good coz it tickles the mind of the readers and drive them to dig further.

Dumaan din pala ito sa brainstorming with her friends, so, I would say na "It figures". I am saying this coz the flow of the story was well-thought. Pinag-isipan. Hindi bara-bara.

I am looking forward to read the 2nd book. ^_^ Thank you! Enah Guevarra

The first time I saw this book in National Bookstore, I was intrigued. It was the only one of its kind (from the strange, strange land of Wattpad, I mean) that didn’t have a heterosexual couple on the cover either snuggling all cute-like with one another or bickering in an obviously flirty manner. I thought maybe, just maybe, I’d actually find a Wattpad book that I’d like… or at least not hate with a vengeance. Sure there were many - and I do mean many - who tried to talk me out of reading this book. Book friends who aren’t into the local book scene told me how the book blatantly ripped off the anime Another or the J-Horror movie Confessions, Wattpad fanatics (of the romance and gangsters kind) quietly mentioned how the “secret” isn’t even really a secret anymore and et cetera et cetera. Despite all that though, I plowed on because I thought - really thought - that I’d like this book and that Class 3C would prove all of them wrong. It can’t possibly have ripped off that many elements of anime and Japanese/Korean horror movies, I told myself.

Now that I’ve finished the book, I can’t help but sigh and shake my head at past!me’s idiocy and naivete. If only lack of originality was the book’s biggest problem. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I tried, this book was just not good. At all. Period.

Thoughts:

I planned on writing a really lengthy and… colorful review of this book because it affected me that much but, after a few hours to cool off, I’ve realized that there’d be no point in drawing this one out more than necessary. It would be immature, I know, to rant about this book now. I should have just stopped reading it when I realized it wasn’t going to get any better but my natural curiosity and masochism wouldn’t allow me so it’s mostly my fault that I’m feeling this peeved. Besides, I’ve already given this book too much of my time and effort, there’d be no point in wasting even more on it.

The writing: I don’t read as many Filipino novels as I would like so my experience in this field is a little lacking but I can say that the writing in Class 3-C is not… well, the closest word that I can come up with is smooth. There’s just something off about how the author set up her paragraphs. The scenes were built pretty sloppily and often described even worse. There was no build up of suspense or basically anything close really. The book tried, I know, but ultimately it failed. It just had a really weak storytelling style.

I also found the choice of point of view unwise. The book had multiple POVs and had them in first person narrative. It would have been better in third person narrative since the book used so many POVs, I think. It’s even worse since there was little to no distinction in writing style in most of the POV characters.

The characters: One of the weakest aspects of this book has to be its characters. I couldn’t care about a single one of them. There wasn’t anything remotely likable about any of them… not just that, there just doesn’t seem to be anything realistic about them. Their motivations and decisions are so petty and ridiculous that when something major happens - like, say, a murder - you can’t really feel any sort of sympathy towards any of them.

None of the characters were believable or fleshed out. They were all just cardboard cutouts that served as… what? I’m not even sure. They were so stereotypical that it was physically painful just reading about them. Seriously, these kids are in third year high school yet act like petty sixth graders.

To give the author some credit, she did wrote a few backstories to “justify” her characters’ present behavior but… no, it was all too cliche. That and, well, I just don’t buy that whole “emotional baggage = excuse to act like a douchemonkey/psychopath.” They went through some traumatic experiences and it’s understandable that those experiences twisted them somehow - and yes, that is sad - but there comes a time, particularly when other people are involved, when they actually have to take responsibility for their own actions.

Though the author hardly seems to remember her own character’s tragic backstories either. She only ever seems to refer to them when it’s convenient to the plot or to add some angst. There were some serious discrepancies in here characterizations but… I’d be spoiling too much if I added them here.

It was also pretty unrealistic how, despite the several dead bodies found in the school, not a single character thought about, oh I don’t know, getting the hell out of that school. People are dead. Murderers are on the loose. They know there are several killers in their class… yet none of them even consider the idea of transferring. Or telling their parents or anyone about the crap going on in their class. Screw class loyalty or reputation, if your life (and the lives of others) are at stake, don’t just sit there and watch things unfold. Do something about it! Yet none of them even think about it. And why isn’t anyone in their school spreading rumors about class 3-C to the outside world? Let’s face it, when something like that happens in any school, it’s near impossible to keep it within the student body. Information will leak out via social media or just word of mouth.

Heck, with all that’s happened in that school, it should have been shut down ages ago. The author implied that most of the students in that school have super powerful parents and whatnot yet where are those powerful parents when the dead bodies kept piling up? Where was the mob of angry parents protesting the lack of safety in the school? Why do the students keep coming back there anyway? It’s not as though the administration can blame the students from never coming back I mean, c’mon, DEAD BODIES. The sort of protagonist didn’t even wonder why the school was so calm after all the corpses and strange disappearances. She was briefly baffled and kind of repulsed at how “normal” her classmates acted despite the events but she doesn’t even mention how the rest of the school is coping. It’s like the whole school was empty save for their forsaken class.

The setting: It’s quite obvious that the author pictured a Japanese school. I don’t have a problem with that in particular except for the all too convenient dark and empty rooms, which their school has, apparently, an abundant supply. There’s an abandoned laboratory, an abandoned storage room, a sort of abandoned library(??) - you can’t help but wonder just how much of the school isn’t empty and abandoned. I don’t know. It just seemed like a cheap trick, using all those convenient rooms like that.

Seriously, their school is so empty and vast that it’s virtually impossible to catch anyone dragging a mangled corpse and propping said corpse in an overly dramatic and unnecessarily complicated fashion. Because screw possibly leaving evidence or being caught by someone, am I right? Displaying their work is so much more important than not getting caught. Priorities, man. There also aren’t any CCTV cameras installed because who even needs them when a bunch of murderers are on the loose?

The story: It started off with a pretty interesting plot… but then everything kind of just got lost in all the drivel of stupid life decisions made by stupid teenagers whose initial reaction upon being threatened by a classmate/friend is to murder and/or decapitate them in some way. It could have been interesting, I’m sure, but the author just kept on piling them all up that it was really difficult to care about any of the events anymore.

I know that this was written in Wattpad before it was published so I can understand why the chapters are so unbalanced but I still don’t like it. It’s too obvious that the drama and angst were compacted on each chapters in order to get the initial online readers hooked or hanging. (this is one of the reasons why I don’t like Wattpad books, to be honest)

The story had too many plot holes to count and used too many overused tropes for me to take it seriously. There was a love triangle, an evil twin, and even a Queen Bee dethroning for crying out loud!

The love triangle irked me the most. Not only was it seriously out of place and stilted, it wasn’t even done with grace or originality. The friendzoned guy turned feral because the girl wouldn’t and couldn’t reciprocate his feelings and that just did it for me. No, actually what did it for me was the fact that the girl blamed herself for the guy’s stupid behavior and petty betrayal. As if it was her fault that the guy was a total shithead. As if she SHOULD HAVE MAGICALLY KNOWN that the guy wanted to get in her pants and that it was HER RESPONSIBILITY to take care of his hurt feelings or whatever. I wanted to throw the book across the room when I read that part, I swear.

I did not enjoy this book. At all. I don’t know how anyone could enjoy it but… this book is just not for me. I regret ever buying this book and regret finishing it even more. This was a terrible book in so many ways that it’s virtually impossible for me to give it a rating higher than one star… and that’s just because I can’t rate a book on Goodreads half a star.

"HINDI ITO HORROR STORY. UTANG NA LOOB." eh ano pala? haha

4.5 stars

This book has its own unique storyline, gruesome deaths and interesting characters, each with cruel pasts and mysterious personalities.

Nakakaintriga talaga tong kwento na to.

Tupang Ina. Talaga. Kahit sino paghihinalaan mong killer.

Hangang-hanga ang grade 9 self ko dito. Hahaha!

I’ve decided to re-read my favorite story from wattpad. I had fun reading it but I thought every problems of every character is exaggerated and similar to one another. It’s a guilty pleasure read and I will continue the series.

It's wriiten well 'cause it'll make you care for at least one or two of the characters.

JuskoLord.

Pero sa bandang huli, yeah, I'm gonna try and find a copy of the subsequent books.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK FROM WATTY!
I've finished this siguro mga January. Nakaka-intriga yung story. Tas when I decided to read it, HINDI AKO NAGSISI. bam! Starting from the very start, nangilabot kaagad ako. I'm more into dark themed stories like this. First of all AKIN SI ANDY! Fodge! Ang laki ng galit ko kay Ash! Isa siyang walang kwentang lalaki! Pota. Like seryoso ako!

AS IN LAHAT LAHAT! I would definitely buy the book kapag naka-uwi ako <33

Review:

I'm not a fan of thriller stories but this book is just so good. It actually confused my thoughts on who the main killer actually is. There are many unexpected turns to so I really loved how it's not a cliche and how it's unpredictable.
You would actually want to just lie down and finish the book once you start reading it.
Thumbs up, ate Enah! :)
