The Cosmic Power of an Immortal

Rate this book
On the first day of their vacation, Sam Archer wakes up to a nightmare.
The problem is, he doesn’t sleep.
He doesn’t dream.
And his nightmare is much more than it seems.

For Sam’s entire life, he has been haunted by a man with a grudge against him and his deceased parents. A man who is jealous of his immortality and wishes nothing more than to make Sam’s immortal life as miserable as possible. Thankfully, Sam can't be killed, and he now has the power to defend those he cherishes most.
However, even despite his newfound power...
His enemy... is going to succeed.
Sam has seen it.
A future where he loses everyone he loves. Again.
And there is absolutely nothing he can do to stop it.

His enemy has already guaranteed that, having always been ten steps ahead and having already ensured that it is impossible to overcome this nightmare fate.
With no options, and no real hope, outside help slowly starts to trickle into his life.
But will it be enough?
Sam already knows that the answer is no.

But what more can he do, than try anyway?
To try as hard as he can to overcome...the impossible.

Prologue

She was smirking as she looked up at me, only to immediately frown, her entire demeanor becoming instantly somber when she saw my expression.
“Not impressed that I actually own this place, huh?” she wondered.
My eyes started stinging then, as it all really began to hit me. “You’ve…you’ve been in pain all this time, haven’t you? You’ve…been suffering for the last century, haven’t you?”
Pure agony appeared in her mismatched gaze, before she turned her head away entirely, visibly trying to collect herself.
I continued. “And you’ve finally come to tell me the truth, haven’t you?” I realized. “To tell your daughter the truth, through me.”
She took a shaky breath. “Yes,” she whispered simply.
I tried to swallow, attempting to collect myself. “So…what is…the truth?”

A little weak. The slice of life stuff at the beginning of the series was quite good. But after the power creep set in the whole thing became very unwieldy. Now we need an alien invasion or Godzilla to create a challenge for our protagonist, it got pretty ridiculous, so meh it's fine. Kurtis Eckstein writes ok sometimes even good stories but man can't he stick the landing, ever.

What a finish.

This feels like an ending. And while I'm sad to see it go, I love this story so much. There is so much tied into this. We are left still with several mysteries, and some unanswered questions, but this book provided closure for both omegas and immortals.
And I can only complain there isn't more.

Now, I say the end, because it FEELS like an ending, but nothing I saw explicitly states that this is the end. And so I have hope that maybe Kurtis will revisit these wonderful characters in time.

All of that said, I look forward to his next project, and the continuation of his other projects (looking at you, Combat Healer, you absolute gem) and the resolution of Incubus Harem.

An awesome conclusion to an awesome series!

Kurtis,

I’ve enjoyed this series sooo much. Thank you for creating it and sharing it with us. If you haven’t started reading this series yet, then you’re in for a great treat, once you do. Do yourself a favor and start reading book 1 immediately! You will be very glad that you did. Great plots, action and character development. Also plenty of new characters and new powers to keep things interesting! Enjoy, you lucky devil you!! :)

Finally, the series ends. I wish I could say I enjoyed this installment but it did not fulfill my expectations. The story failed to evoke positive or strong feelings about the plot or characters involved, at some points it felt like the author forgot previously mentioned details and repeated them in an effort to remember, which we didn’t needed as readers. The motivation and actions displayed lacked the logical compatible mental state between reader and character. It felt incongruent. Not the best work this series presents to us.

Fantastic Finale

5/5 stars. 2/2 eyes watering.

Seriously Eckstein continues to bring the FEELS with this one and man do they hit hard here. I guess I'll just say that if you've made it this far into the series just go read it because it'll have everything you've come to love from the series. So glad this series was made and I was able to see a snippet of the life of Sam and his ladies.

Amazing!

Another incredible instalment! I have been following the series for a while now and I’m glad to see it finally getting the attention it deserves. I also couldn’t help but notice a lot of people are under the impression this is the last book, it’s not. After speaking with the author myself he confirmed it is simply the end of the first major arc and that more will be coming! I personally can’t wait. Well done Kurtis, keep up the good work.

Conclusion to series

Alternate universe, superheroes, melodrama, harem adult situations

Sam and his family confront a long term enemy, one who has tried several times to kill Sam and/or members of his family. Sad to see it end, but the ending had enough to feel the current issues had been resolved. Above average editing. Mostly enjoyed.

So Kurt is also writes as Kaizer Wolf, eh? Interesting.

I loved it sooooo much.
So many moments of hope, anxiety, love and trust.
I wanted more Winter and it delivered.

It is not necessary but I read Omega Squad beforehand, it got some insights and I realized what some tidbits meant a few pages or chapter before it got explained which was fun. But still not something that is necessary

It is on par with Volume 2 for me.

Fin

Strong ending to the book but still felt a little overcooked compared to the rest of the series a lot of moments of rehashing things that we were already told just a few chapters before and a few moments where it feels like the author started to ramble a bit but my biggest gripes unfortunately would be spoilers but overall I'm happy with the way story played out

Loved this series!

After waiting so long for this book since the 5th book came out, I borrowed it on KU as soon as I saw it. It’s a satisfying conclusion to the series. I can’t wait to see the author’s next series.

I loved this series

I know the series was a long time in closing, but this was just the kind of ending I wanted for it. With its slice of life approach im glad it didn't just end with the final battle like some books but went past that. To the ending Sam and we all deserved.

What a great series!

Nothing like a good superhero fantasy to get your blood pumping. It is exciting, action-packed, and erotic as hell. I couldn't put it down until the very end, and I still want more. This is great fantasy, so pick it up and enjoy the escape!

This was a really good conclusion to this series. I suppose I could complain about the non-harem member on the cover, but I wasn’t really dissatisfied with the way things played out.
