Cheated on and dumped, Cassie Summers feels nothing but relief. She’d stayed too long, and honestly, it was her attraction to her ex’s roommate, Mason, that kept her hanging on past the expiration date. Mason makes her heart beat faster and her panties damp. Too bad he’s only a friend, as she’s not his type.
Mason Parker’s Southern charm and good looks let him through a lot of doors—and into beds. A protective instinct a mile wide pushes Mason to be Cassie’s shoulder when his roommate skips town, and he has to face his real feelings for her. Can he find the patience to just be the friend Cassie needs while she gets over her ex?
When Mason’s called for duty and has to ship out for a year, he knows he can’t leave without telling her exactly how he feels. Amid the fireworks on the Fourth of July, they’ll make their own sparks and give in to the crushing need both have for one another.
Break out the fireworks and get ready to kick off your summer with this HOT new collection of stories. Return to Her is part of the Red Hot and BOOM! multi-author series (stands alone for reading enjoyment)
About me? How anyone can summarize their whole being within a little block of space is beyond me.
I have tried on numerous bio pages and what not and I hate making them. :)
So, let's just say I wear many hats. Mother, daughter, friend, writer, boss, employee, student, lover, and whatever else I may do within my day.
We all wear many hats within our lives, and most days we are stressed beyond words because of them.
So I write down my words and hope that someone out there is entertained by them and it helps them escape for a few minutes into another place where there are no hats.
First off, curse you Alex for making me cry. Hmph.
First off, from the blurb (which is a great hook for me), we see that it's a classic "Don't ruin the friendship" story. It really is one of those things most people fear. However, from reading this, I don't think that the friendship was anything more than dating without the sex IMO. These two were handmade for each other. Throughout the book, I was so hoping that the jagoff ex wouldn't ruin the whole thing. He deserved to slink in what dark corner of the universe he slithered to.
Plus, this story has a military man in it. What gets me going like Niagara Falls sprouting from my eyes? Yeah ... not spoiling it for you. ;) What I found in these pages was some great writing, hot sex, and two people destined to spend the rest of their lives together. They got the roots of the relationship down with a solid friendship. Going to the next level just solidified it. Thanks for the awesome read, no matter how short. I'm still satisfied with the results.

I really enjoyed Return to Her, I really wish it was a full length novel because I liked the characters so much. I liked the slow build up of Mason and Cassie getting to know eachother, and myself (the reader) being able to get to ease into their relationship as well. The sex is way hot... insanely hot.. Its fun, its sweet and there is a pinch of realism and honesty in it as well. Its easy enough to find yourself seeing the events play out in real life without any side line questions in your mind screaming LAME. Alexandra keeps it focused, she keeps it all right on target as she builds you up into an amazing climax and a sweet after cuddle. I really hope to see more of Mason and Cassie in the future, they're great together.
A bittersweet love story packed into 65 pages.....sigh...
Sweet because we see Cassie and Mason finally act on their feelings for each other. Bitter because Mason is due to leave on a year long Tour of Duty two days later.
Alexandra writes emotions very, very well....she had me laughing, sobbing and then sighing with contentment...a great achievement in such a short space.
The characters had warmth and depth so I found it easy to relate to and like them.
I can recommend this book if you're in the mood for a feel good love story.

I liked that Mason and Cassie started as friends first. There was mutual attraction but they both put it to the side for the sake of their friendship. This story is a bittersweet tale. You root for the two to come together and then your feelings are sidetracked when Mason will be away and in danger for a year. Poor Cassie has many doubts and fears concerning Mason but he is completely smitten with her.
It is a short sweet ride that has a satisfactory ending.
I had never read anything by this author before, but I found this book as part of the"Red, Hot and Boom" series. I thought it was a good, quick read. The characters were both likeable and believable, and the basic premise was good. The writing was okay; there were a couple of minor editing issues, but nothing too distracting. All in all a decent story.
'Return To Her: A Red Hot and BOOM! story' by Alexandra O'Hurley is a great read! I loved reading about Cassie and Mason. This story is a hot, fun read. Recommend for all fans of romance and military.
I loved Cassie and Mason. They were friends long before they became a couple. The time they spent apart only made them stronger, and the ending was perfect.
