This novella is good.

The author knows how to write and knows what he is doing. When he says that he is already an experienced writer in another genre, I can totally believe him and this work shows it.

I like the pacing of the story, the characters have time to develop and I could discerne their personalities.

I hate the shrooms to the point of almost dropping the book, I think the is the only reason I don't want to give this a 5 star. I came to this series thinking about a tale of survival, human vs nature in a random apocalipse just like Moonshine. I readily accepted the aliens, the first thing I thought about was the old "The Walking Dead" theories. And them came the shrooms, only the gods know how I hated this concept, it broke my expectation of a "survive with your own might" and introduced "just use your super powers" in a bad way. Why the fuck Luke doesn't have his own shroom stock with him to use in battle or situations and have to ask from Carly? Dude, just tailor a utility belt like batman and put some there.

But them as the book progresses, I started to like this idea. The shrooms is an device to allow the author to do anything he wants, and now I'm expecting things like stands from JoJo or devil fruits like One Piece. I'm looking forward to how this is developed.

I love the girls, they are cool to be around, I like their friendship and they kinda cover for each other weakness, in plot and personality.

My complaint about them is, I knew Carly struggle, but I didn't really feel it, and I don't know if it is because of the writing or because I failed to give it the proper importance. To be fair, I was impressed when she did have sex with Luke in the last chapter.

The flies, aliens ships flying around and the furries made me extremely uneasy, to the point of thinking this is good terror. Ofc, other humans feel scary too.
