Irene wants to believe all she needs to heal after an emotionally abusive relationship are her friends and bakery, but Ryder Allen keeps intruding into her thoughts. Something about the huge man calls to her heart and body. Afraid to even think about loving again, she does her best to convince him that his affections are better directed elsewhere.

Security contractor Ryder has lived for years choked with bitterness and anger about a bad job that left both his heart and face scarred. His attraction to the shy Irene has left him determined to be with her, despite her insistence they just wouldn’t work together.

When a local biker gang recruits new help and begins making waves around town, neither Ryder nor Irene worry it’ll be much of a problem for her bakery other than some vandalism. Not thinking much about the trouble, Irene decides to take a camping trip with some friends, leading to unexpected terror in the woods that’ll require some skilled protection, which Ryder is more than ready to deliver.

Madison currently lives with her husband and two children in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, Arizona. After leaving the frozen tundra of the north, Madison was more surprised than anyone with how much she has enjoyed living in the desert. Seeing as she had stated on more than one occasion how much she hated the heat, it was an odd move. But it seemed her hatred for sub-zero temps and ice, or really the things that ice could do, won out in the end.
When she’s not writing, she’s enjoying time with her family. Madison and her family frequent festivals in the area, as well as local cultural events, and spend time with family in the area. In the summer she is most likely to be found in the pool with the family and in the winter by the fireplace. Since both her children are autistic, days can be a little chaotic but with her husband beside her, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Luckily he is also an author and able to share in all the activities (and chores) special needs kids require.

Ryder thought he was damaged and that no one would want his scared face but Irene does. Irene is just scared she will get her so she puts her bakery and friends before herself. She is shy and doesn't trust her body around Ryder. I liked how Ryder knew how she is so he still tried until he wore her down. The suspense was good and Ryder to the rescue was cute now to cages book.

Liked this one e best since Reed. Ryder had the patience of a saint. I thought, from the prior books, that Irene had a traumatic past. Not true. Just gun shy. But she ended up having spunk and the story had action.

Out of all the brothers I think Ryder has been through more crap than anybody should ever have to go through. . It left him scarred in more ways than just the visible one one his face... If you've read Reeds' book then you know what happened... bad choices and lessons learned. .. Thanks to Reeds' user gf Nikki Ryder was tortured badly... Ryder came out of it a different man.. Trust issues being the number 1 along with his scar on his face... hate to tell him but that scar just makes it known that he's a survivor and a man.. Like all the brothers he isn't any different when it comes to love.. He loves hard and fast with everything he is... All of him... He has his work cut out for him with Irene but he never gives up.. He remains patient and always there if she needs him... Irene isn't like anyone he's use to.. where he just thought she was scared of him it was actually so much more.. Irene was raised very strict religious and she was hurt badly by her ex bf and she is self conscious of her body.. they both think they are not worthy of each other which in fact is the complete opposite. . Irene and the girls (Taylor and Vic) go camping and Ryder gives them the key to his cabin... Unfortunately someone from the past has other plans... It's actually someone after Vic well after money her father hid for his girls... Ryder gets wind of who is doing the vandalism and it hits him what's really going on... He races to get to the cabin and the girls. . He runs into an unlikely ally a biker names Havoc (which I hope he returns hint hint) .. Havocs' brother is actually helping Kert get what he thinks he deserves.. Havoc comes through for Ryder along with Charlie (Liv dad) .. long story short everything works out in the end including a family reunion so to speak lol.... I'm worried about Cage and i don't think his ego will take what happened to him well.. but I'm sure like his other brothers he will come out stronger and just as stubborn lol... Now I guess I have to wait for Cages' book least I know he's semi ok and in the hospital instead of not knowing until his book is out lol

Lots of action and a few loose ends are tied up. Some redemption here, both for the characters and for the series. Ryder and Irene are a surprisingly sweet couple who deserve their happiness.

This was a total surprise for me. This whole book was a surprise for me and I loved it. I couldn't believe the good things I read in it and the way Madisonmade these two fall in love or better said made them fall together. I waited for this book to read since I read the first Allen Securities book. I just wanted to meet him and see him fall in love. I did here and I just loved it. There is nothing bad I can say about this book or any of Madison's books.

I spent 3/4ths of this book hoping Ryder would say 'eff this noise' and go find someone else. I spent the other 1/4th cautiously hoping Irene wouldn't be a sappy weak woman. But that's exactly what she was. These heroines annoy me. Which is why this book didn't warrant more stars. Ryder was awesome though.

Engaging, and not a read that I had to put a lot of thought into, I could just let go and enjoy. Don't start this series if you are looking for intricate plot lines and character dynamics that wrap up neatly at the end. These are gritty HEA's and that's how they should be approached.
