'Kaleb' is book three in the "Samuel's Pride" series by Kathi S. Barton and what's not to love? Kaleb is not only a bear-shifter but also a member of Samuel's Pride and protects Kennedy and their children when they come along. He's a loner who comes across as very patient and calm. Well, except when he and Jimmy about came to blows over who was going to be Samuel's enforcer but Kennedy smoothed that over. He's another one who had no intention of ever taking a mate.
Thor was a detective on the police force. She has quite an impressive record. The newest leads she's been following on a man listed on the FBI's top 10 wanted list had caused her to step off into a situation over her head. When she finds herself about to die from the torture she immediately thinks of her childhood friend Samuel and contacts him. Not for a rescue per se but to have someone to talk to so she didn't have to die alone and for him to retrieve her body from where she was imprisoned so she didn't wind up rotting away there. Kaleb was part of the rescue team and realized immediately that Thor was his mate. Thor, being a human, had no idea. This was such an intense, intriguing storyline with Lions, Wolves, Vampires, Shifters, Pixies, Brownies, and Witches that it was just a whirlwind you didn't want to get out of. Absolutely wonderful.

My review:

I have always enjoyed Ms Barton's books. They are well written and she is not shy to touch on sensitive topics.

While I really liked this story, I couldn't help but wonder, could Kathi make our villains any stupider?
I mean lets be honest a guy who has made his way to the top 10 FBI most wanted isn't going to make as many mistakes and put himself in a position to be caught like Lipscomb did.

Thor is an old friend of Samuel's. After years of not talking, when she's hanging onto her life by a thin line she reaches out to her old friend.

Kaleb is more than just a werebear that all of the pride thinks he is. He's determined he doesn't need or want a mate, but when he meets Thor, all bets are off and he can no longer deny the attraction.

Between trying to discover who is dirty on the police force, dealing with an abusive father and a brother who threatening to go on a killing rampage, things are never easy for Samuel's Pride.

While I liked the story, I guess I just get kind of annoyed by how stupid Kathi makes her villains in her books. I also would like to read about a female who isn't constantly trying to overcompensate for being a female. In just about every book of Kathi's the female is either a cop, military, or mechanic. While I love a female who isn't wimpy and relying on a male to constantly save her, it would be nice to read about one who isn't stupidly determined to protect herself and would seem to rather die than take the help offered for protection from the males or other characters.

Another amazing addition to the Samuel's Pride Series....Childhood friend of Samuel's reaches out to him as she is dying. Tania Thornton is a Police Detective on a case and caught by the bad guys. Her friend from many years ago comes to her aid. Pride member Kaleb Jonas, a bear shifter assists Samuel in Thor's rescue and immediately discovers the woman is his mate. Being a loner, Kaleb is not interested in having a mate and tries to forget the female that makes his blood boil and his male parts come to life.

Feisty, beautiful Thor is surprised to find a very large male she doesn't know, hovering over her as she recovers from her life threatening injuries. Though Kaleb has vowed to stay away from the girl, her scent as his mate is too strong and her can't resist her. Thor is not so easily convinced of the connection....until the sexy shifter kisses her, licks her, bites her....then all bets are off! Now Kaleb has sworn to protect his targeted mate at all costs, she thinks she can take care of herself and the battle of who is the toughest begins.

I really love these characters in this series. The action packed turmoil with the bad guys, who aren't at all that smart mind you, and the hot sexy love scenes with the main characters is mind blowing.

I am really enjoying the Samuel's Pride series. Each member is unique and adds some interesting drama to the storyline. Kaleb is a grizzly shifter, he is big, strong and can be scarey. Thor is a cop who is smart, tough and takes no prisoners. When she is hurt she calls out to the one person she always cared about to say goodbye, but Samuel is stubborn and wont let her give up. This was a great storyline, there is a lot of secrecy and shifty situations that are sure to keep you glued to your seat. Fast Paced , engaging , complicated, betrayal and humor make it so you can't help but fall in love with the characters. Thor is one tough cookie and Kalab might have met his match. I think as Samuel's pride grows the males are going to have to watch the females because if they ever ganged up on them they would be unstoppable. I like that there are so many old friendship in this series, the fact that the characters have history make for a more realistic situation and add some fun. Ms. Barton writes a mean story and as always captivates the reader from page one.

Kaleb

Kaleb Jonas is a were-bear. A grizzly to be exact. He has been around for a long time, and never thought he’d want a mate.
Thor (Tania) is a police detective, and fully human in the beginning.
They meet when she is captured and tortured by a drug lord. He knows as soon as he sees her that she is his mate. Stephan (vampire) is there, and he gives her some of his blood to keep her alive, the Kaleb finshes healing her with his blood.
Now the fun begins. As usual there is danger stalking them, as well as all the fun of becoming mates.
There is also all the other characters that come along. Like Sam, Kennedy, Vincent, Hawk and fairies. Thor must learn to deal with all of them as well as Kaleb.
There are some surprises as well for both Thor and Kaleb. And Kennedy finally has her baby.
I know that you will love this book. It is the 3rd installment of the Pride series.

There's Something Shifty Going on in Here!

There are a lot of shifters in this standalone HEA book & I mean a lot (most of them are in the 2 main characters). Kaleb & Thor's story is fast paced & very exciting especially in the 1st part of the book. Kaleb knows right away when they meet that Thor is his mate; Thor however even though at one time she & Samuel were BFFs she didn't know that he was a lion shifter & while she was in the clinic he showed her because she hadn't believed him & Kaleb when they told her what they were. Most of the main characters from the 1st book are also in here but there's also a scene where the main characters from the 2nd book are also in here too. There are 2 very bad guys in & 2 bad family members (Thor's dad & Kaleb's brother) in this book; but the main bad person gets taken care of by fairies when he tries to harm Thor. There are also a lot of sex scenes in this book & with all of my favorite elements in this book I had to give it a 5 star review.

Kaleb Samuel's Pride Book 3 has come out with a ROAAARR!! Kaleb is our Typical male shifter, all big, bad and beautiful.........at least, I think so and so will his mate, Thor. Thor? So not a typical name for a girl, but Thor, is no ordinary girl. Yes, she has a girl name - Tania, but she refuses to use that name. Girl is allowed, she has her reasons. Thor is a kick butt police detective on the hunt for the bad guy when they get the jump on her. Samuel, Kaleb and a couple of others rescue her and Kaleb knows she is his mate. Well, the bad guys keep coming and The Pride will not stand for it, neither will Kaleb and Thor. So kick back, relax and come along for a ride from our friend Kathi Barton. Meet the newest Pride members and and all the special, little "people" that come into Thor's new life.

I was given a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review!!!

Bear Down

You will be wrapped in intrigue from page one. Kathi has a way of weaving tales that makes you fall in love with her characters. Kaleb was a bear shifter and loner but he found acceptance in Samuel pride. Thor is a childhood friend of Samuel's and was ready to end it all but not alone so she reached out to Samuel who sent Kaleb to find her. This was a great book there was humor, suspense, dynamite chemistry and great action. The cast of characters just keep getting better and better and Kathi's knack for writing strong and fierce women is phenomenal. I recommend this book is you're looking for alpha women and the men they bring to their knees. This was another great addition to the pride.

Kaleb is book 3 in the Samuel's Pride Series. He is a were-bear shifter and a loner until he join's Samuel and the others to rescue Thor (Tania). Thor is a childhood friend of Samuel's and a cop and has been beaten and left to die by a drug lord and thinks of one thing as she is dying - to reach out to Sam to let him know where she is so he can come get her body. Kaleb doesn't want a mate just like all the others but knows the minute he sees Thor that she is his. Follow the journey that kaleb and Thor take along with all the "others". A definite must read by the fabulous Kathi S. Barton

Bless Kathi Barton! When her "Force of Nature" series ended, I was so sad. It and the "Aaron's Kiss" series are my favorite Barton books. This third entry in "Samuel's Pride" seems to feature some of my favorite elements of both series, and I have a new love.

The "Pride" books feature different shifter species banding together into a group growing in numbers and exhibiting an array of talents. A swirl of fae and vampire mixes in the intrigue of the storylines, and the fast pace and surprises revealed along the way keep readers involved in Kaleb and Thor's book and anticipating the next.

Excellent story

This story was fascinating. Shifters, vampires and fairies dealing with common everyday problems. Humor, mystery, and a very hot romance makes this a full package. The only complaint was the dialogue transitions. You get very confused about who is saying what. Rather annoying but not terminal.

Good solid story. I'm interested in figuring out the little twist that the author included. I'm sure it will revel itself as the series progresses. Kaleb and Thor were both interesting characters. I found Kaleb more interesting then Thor. I have a weakness for werebears...lol.

Better than Kathi's last few. They seem to becomming the same book with the same problem. Just different names. At least in this one the female was not homeless at the beginning. I gave it an extra star for that.
