I almost feel bad rating this comic adaptation so poorly (the original source material is a 5-star favourite of mine!), but reading this was honestly a chore. The pages are filled exclusively with stills from the anime, and as a result, everything is VERY dark; to the point you almost wish you were reading it as a webcomic on your phone so you could turn up the brightness. Moreover, the panels they’ve chosen from the anime aren’t always very clear, so the action is blurred, the finer details in the forest are lost, and most of the characters look really similar. All in all, despite the gorgeous packaging (the metallic printed edges, the stamped hard case, etc.), I just don’t think this is worth collecting unless you’ve set out to own every edition of this series there is.

So, ich hab den Manga nichtmal gelesen, sondern nur durch geblättert und gebe dem 2 Sterne, obwohl er einen verdient hätte.

Das liegt bei weitem NICHT an der Story, ich LIEBE Heavens Official Blessing, nach Scumbag mein Lieblings-Danmei. Es liegt an dem Buch.

Tokyopop hat hier den GLEICHEN Fehler wie bei Link Click gemacht und einen Webtoon in Vollfarbe auf NICHT-HOCHGLANZ-Papier gedruckt. Das führt dazu, das der Print SUPER UNSCHARF ist und VIEL ZU FUCKING DUNKEL. Sobald zuviele dunkle Farben auf der SEite sind, kann man kaum mehr irgendwas erkennen. Es ist einfach nur ein scheiß Druck - diese Mangas gehören, WIE BEI ALLEN ANDEREN VERLAGEN ÜBLICH, auf Hochglanzpapier.
Und der Manga hier kostet ebenfalls 16 Euro, genau wie ALLE ANDERNE HOCHGLANZ MANGAS. Like????? Why?!

Holt euch einfach den Originalmanga, der bei chinabooks erscheint. Das ist auch der mit der richtig schönen Grafik und nicht der aus dem Anime. Der ist auch schön, aber gott. Spart euch das Geld für diesen scheiß Druck.

It's pretty, but that's about all it has going for it. I read this not knowing it was originally a novel, and not having watched the show; that was a mistake. I don't understand half of what was going on, both story-wise and in the action sequences. Who is that Wen woman? Who or what destroyed the Prince's city/people? Why did the destruction result in the Prince being demoted? Why is the Prince so disrespected? Why does that martial guard/assistant keep hitting trees? I'm so confused!

Then there's the art. I settled in for my nighttime reading with just my table lamp on, as is usual. Eventually I ended up sitting at an angle with the book shoved right under my lamp, because the art panels were so dark that I couldn't make them out! Ridiculous.

If you're not already familiar with and enjoy the source material, stay away from these books.

The show is 5 stars. I’m completely obsessed with the characters, the story, and the print books (chapter book versions). I’m only giving this version 4 stars because I didn’t realise (it was shrink-wrapped) it was just going to be kind of blurry stills from the show with speech bubbles. The gold edges are very pretty but for the price tag it’s not worth it unless you’re basically just collecting everything TGCF.

The introduction of Hua Cheng is always so badass!

This took me way WAY longer than I thought it would. I didn’t think it’d be just literal screengrabs from the donghua, but what the hell sure. I also broke and splurged on getting the beautiful box set with all the cute extras. I wanted to read the 6 volumes as a cute little cozy and easy read for end-of-year/holiday times, but honestly I think it takes more willpower for me to power through this than reading an actual book or regular manga.

As for the content...Mt. Yujin/Ghost Bride is far from my favorite arc, but we still have to get through it.

Para empezar, algo a destacar de este formato es sin duda el dibujo y el arte, porque más que un manhua, parece un artbook. Si ya nos enamoramos con el exterior del tomo debido a la portada tan bonita que tiene, al abrirlo caes más profundo porque es una obra de arte en su totalidad. El diseño de los personajes y los paisajes están muy cuidados y se nota el gran trabajo y talento de la artista.

Pasando a la obra, se nota que es la más reciente de la autora, ya que hay una gran mejoría respecto a las otras dos. Actualmente tengo leídas las novelas de MDZS y del Scumbag, unos cuantos tomos del manhua de MDZS y los dos primeros tomos de la novela de TGCF, pero con lo poco que he leído de esta historia, me queda claro que es mi favorita de todas las obras de MXTX porque es increíble.

En este primer todo del manhua comenzamos con una pequeña presentación de Xie Lian, el protagonista de esta historia, y con el primer conflicto de esta obra, que nos hace conocer a diversos personajes que serán muy importantes en el desarrollo de esta historia junto a Xie Lian. A pesar de que este tomo se queda un tanto pobre en contenido puesto que es el principio, te engancha igual y te hace querer saber más, sobre todo con la aparición momentánea de cierto personaje que podemos ya intuir quién es.

Por otro lado, y teniendo de referencia la novela, siento que los acontecimientos han pasado demasiado rápido en el manhua, ya que al ser más dibujo que diálogo, pues no hay que describir paisajes ni situaciones que se ven perfectamente en el dibujo. La verdad, para leer el manhua recomiendo primero leer la novela o ver el donghua, creo que así se disfruta aún más el manhua.

Sinceramente, recomiendo esta obra, y eso que solo he leído muy poco de ella, y en general el danmei, porque son obras BL que son mucho más y la trama histórica es muy compleja, interesante y llena de temas importantes. Tengo ganas de ver cómo sigue esta historia y de leer más danmeis, que en España cada vez están licenciando más y ya tengo unos cuantos bicheados jejeje.
