The Rapture is one of the most misunderstand elements in the Christian faith. Much debate occurs around the topic and the timing. This short book does a good job clarifying what evangelicals believe - their points of agreement and disagreement. I recommend the book.

A few months ago I asked my father why the rapture was important to know about. Of course it's in the Bible, so it is important, by why? Why should I, we, care enough to discuss or study it?

He gave me this book, I believe in answer. The second chapter was titled more or less- Why Should We Care? So, I suppose it was a good one!

The two most compelling reasons to me were-
1. It's in the Bible, so God wants us to know about it. (Do we really need more?)
2. The book of Revelation wasn't written to terrify or frustrate us. It was written to encourage believers that there was hope, even in the midst of horrible darkness. There is a beautiful time coming, not just in Heaven, but here on earth. It was meant to give them courage to press on. To keep fighting the good fight.

I'd never heard the second point before! What a good lens to read Revelation through from now on.

The rest of the book mostly explored when the rapture is likely to take place. Not when in time, but when in correlation to the Tribulation. Will it happen before, in the middle, or after that takes place? I learned a lot about the different views! I've decided which camp I mostly fall into, and it was interesting. I still don't feel the timing is important enough to argue about, or really study? But I feel I'll be able to speak educatedly about it in the future, if ever I'm not able to escape the discussion.

A good, well-rounded book about the rapture's timing compared to the Tribulation. The author has his own camp decided, but I feel he described everything quite well! Keeping his bias in check, sharing others arguments, while still presenting his own.

(Post Script: The book is 119 pages, not 1! It must be entered in Goodreads, wrongly.)
