Although she ended up working in marketing, she has always found herself intrigued by stories that explore unconventional love, address criticism regarding those who use religion to oppress and harm people, and portray women who really don’t need saving (by men).

The first book of this duology was not bad but not something I would return to, but the second book overcame my expectations and it was enjoyable to read. Finelly fleshed characters with their worries and struggles set in well crafted narration were nice improvement. The ending was expected due historical circumstances but still it makes my eyes water. Definitely will reread in the future.
