✨Jarl’s Bastard Son ✨Viking Warrior MMC ✨Yule • Winter Solace 🎄 ✨Norway 874 AD ✨2018 Modern Woman ✨FMC Jewelry Thief 😂
This entire book is about jewelry 😂 not even kidding. Antique jewelry expert Rachel falls back into time when a norn leaves behind a golden spindle on a park bench- Rachel goes to steal it (😟) from the old lady.. and is transported back. Her mother is dying of cancer and she needs money to pay for a transplant surgery- making Rachel desperate- and 🤮 I’m sure the author wanted us to sympathize with her for stealing. When FMC arrives back in time- she immediately begins digging through trunks in a long house looking for anything of worth. (cringe) She quite literally stuffs her pockets with jewels. 💎 immediately making eye roll 🙄 at this FMC. Another wild plot.
This was the shortest book I’ve read yet out of these time travel romances. I feel this one felt the most rushed- and had little to no real story substance. All these in this series feel a little “far fetched” - like how all these FMCs accept time travel just like that. No time to adjust. They are just like “ok” I’m now in the 800s. But Viking’s Love is the most far fetched. Who would wake up in the 800s and immediately start hunting for things to steal? Be so for real.
MMC Kholbjorn is more intriguing - of course - because I’m honestly only here for these romances for the Viking history. I’m not a time travel fan honestly. But anyways 🙃 he is the bastard son of the jarl - son of a slave woman. I love an underdog- the bastard son storyline. But his storyline is wasted on this weird jewelry thief.
But the truth is this book has no substance and the plot is wild- ultimately making me hate the story. Like what’s the point? I don’t care about the characters or the story.
I’m officially done with these. I’m not reading book five. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m disappointed in this one even more because it is at a time of Yule / winter solace - and now I’m craving a Christmas / winter themed Viking romance. 🎄✨
Viking's Love A Viking Time Travel Romance Mariah Stone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rachel will do anything to save her mother, and that includes stealing to pay for the life-saving surgery she needs. So when three old women leave a golden spindle on the Pier in Chicago, she goes for it, but she was not prepared to be hurdled back in time to 874 AD. She awakens near a village in Norway and finds a chest of jewels and gold just sitting there, which is perfect for her. She grabs what she can but can't seem to forget the dreamy Viking warrior that she'd rather kiss than rob.
Viking warrior Kolbjorn was born a bastard, and his only chance of acceptance into the jarl's family is to capture the most elusive thief he has ever come across. One day, he catches her, and she runs, but a wild chase through a winter snowstorm leads to a night trapped with his seductive captive. And desires will burn bright enough to keep them both warm.
Kolbjorn's honor and future are at stake. But turning Rachel over to his father, the jarl for execution would destroy him. Will he turn her over, or will he let this beautiful thief he loves return to the twenty-first century where she belongs?
Mariah Stone is absolutely brilliant when this author puts pen to paper she spins a story that is simply amazing. From the minute I picked up this book until the moment I put it down, I was lost. After reading all of these Viking books, I'm starting to think I'd love to be able to go back in time and see how they really were. I was so into this book that for a Mother's Day treat, I read the whole thing nonstop. All in all, if you like strong Vikings and their feisty women, you need to read this book. It was fantastic. I can't wait to read more of the next book.
If you love fantasy romance with spice that can be read in one sitting then this is the book for you. I'm absolutely obsessed with these books. OMG I hated it was over so soon. I cant wait to read more of these from this author.

Disfrute la lectura, aunque no es mi favorita de la serie, tiene algunos detalles, pero la historia es bastante fluida, me gustó mucho su desarrollo y como culmina, le deseo mucho éxito a la autora.
Here we are at book 4, Viking's Love, of Mariah Stone's Called by A Viking time travel romance series. At this point I've binged the books, reading one per day for 5 days. I am obsessed, to say the least. Now here I am writing the last 3 reviews at once, so excuse me while I just copy and paste why I think the series has just clicked for me:
The writing is easy to read, the characters are always complex and wonderful, and I love the development of both characters and plots. The ways in which time travel and the female characters from the future are handled is what keeps bringing me back, there is a satisfying logic to what happens, an attention to detail from the author that I appreciate and love.
I believe I said it in the reviews I wrote for the first 2 books, I've been burned by time travel books before, with leaps in logics and talents possessed by the modern day hero/heroines where I just can't suspend my disbelief any further. I feel that this series has healed me of that.
Viking's Love has an interesting story, starting with a plot device that I feel only works on an American character. Rachel is desperate. Her mother needs essential medical treatment, but the expense is crippling - her mother can't get what she needs and that could kill her. Rachel needs cash and she needs it fast, so she turns to crime. Down by the pier, she meets the Norn who gives her golden spindle that takes her to the place that the fates believe she needs to be - as usual with this series that is 9th century Norway. In the past, Rachel finds the jewels she can steal from a local jarl.
This is where Kolbjorn enters the narrative. He is the jarl's bastard son. He has always longed for acknowledgement and ultimate acceptance in the family. The prospect that he could get these if he finds the thief stealing the jarl's treasures is too good to pass up. When Kolbjorn and Rachel meet, it is definitely something that is fated. There is attraction, affection and sexual tension. However, Kolbjorn needs to turn the woman over to his father, which would lead to her execution, and Rachel needs to bring the jewels to the future so that she can get her mother the medical treatment she needs to live.
I really loved this book, I think this is my second favourite book in the series, after Viking's Claim. I especially liked the ending of this book. It was great to see Kolbjorn's character development and just how far he would go for love.

This is Kolbjorn and Rachel's story and it did not disappoint. Kolbjorn is a Viking from the distant past and Rachel is from the present day. Her mother is dying from kidney failure and needs a transplant. At the beginning of the storyline Rachel is sitting on a bench wondering what she can do to help her mom when 3 Norns come and sit by her. When they get up to leave she finds a golden spindle. When she picks it up she is sent back to Norway in the times of the Vikings and Kolbjorns village. He is the son of the Jarl Bjorn but has yet to be recognized as such as the Jarl hadn't married his mother who was now dead. His father has promised to welcome him into his family if he meets certain conditions but it seems no matter what he does it isn't enough. His father wishes to seek favor with King Eirik to increase his statue so he hires a jeweler to create a fine necklace to win his favor. Rachel sees her chance to save her mother and steals the jewelry and takes it back to her time to help raise the money needed for her moms surgery. She does this several times before she is caught by Kolbjorn. There is an instant connection between her and Kolbjorn but he is torn between wanting her and pleasing his father in the hopes he will finally accept him. Will Kolbjorn finally stand up for himself and choose to accept himself for who he is and not worry about whether or not his father will accept him into his family? Will Rachel finally realize that her life will not be complete without Kolbjorn and that she needs to redeem herself after she stole from his father and disgraced Kolbjorn in the process? Will Kolbjorn and Rachel finally get a chance for a HEA? Check this one out to see. You won't regret it!.

Kolbjorn is the illegitimate firstborn son of Jarl Bjorn’ Clan. The Jarl’s clan animal are wolves. Modolfr is Kolbjorn’s best friend and sword-brother. The Jarl has been manipulating K into doing things over and over during the years so that the Jarl will make K legitimate, however he has two brothers who are true-born, and they are both not worthy of being Jarl. Alfarr & Ebbe are to me waste of space. Lol
A & E are allowed to get away with whatever they want by their father the Jarl, while K has to adhere to the code of honor: courage, magnanimity, strength, loyalty, generosity, integrity, and respect. I personally think that A & E only have strength due to their status. They do not do any of the list. The Jarl wants to become a King, and wants to ‘court’ King Eririk of the Danes so that the Swedes don’t just come a Viking to their settlement. K is expected to get as much wealth as he can so it can be turned into something to impress the Danish King Eirik.
Rachel’s mother is very sick, Kendra is an artist who can’t even work anymore and needs massive amounts of money because she doesn’t have insurance to save her life Rachel’s brother James, can’t do much either. Rachel sees all three of the Norns and Verdandi leaves her golden spindle behind and Rachel uses it to steal stuff from Jarl Bjorn to save her mother. She goes back and forth quite a few times, stealing and bringing things from the future to act as a diversion. K sees her and is instantly interested and vice versa. I have already read the entire series and I loved it!

In this fourth book of the Called by a Viking series, the heroine desperately needs a lot of money to pay for her mother's kidney transplant. She goes back in time, with the aid of a Norn spindle, and steals Viking treasure and jewelry that she is able to auction to get the funds. However, when she's there, she sees a Viking she's drawn to. The author does an excellent job of showing how the couples in this series have this instantaneous feeling toward each other that isn't merely instalust or instalove but rather a mystical connection that neither has felt before or can readily explain. She keeps going back and doing this reverse Viking raid until the hero catches her red-handed. He's a complex character, an illegitimate son driven by the need for acceptance by his father. The hero has been an honorable man and has always done his father's bidding, hoping one day his father will recognize him as his true son. I love how these two people each have vulnerabilities and blind spots that the other has insight into. They each help the other come to understand themselves and their circumstances better, aiding them in becoming better people or the people that they should have been if they hadn’t been held back by duty, responsibility, and misunderstandings. I like it when romances show a couple bringing out the best in each other, appreciating each other, and helping each other slip out of the bonds that hold them back from being their best selves and living their best lives. An immensely enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Rachel’s mother has been given six months to live if she doesn’t have a kidney transplant, which will cost close to $200,000. When three little old ladies who are sitting and knitting on a bench nearby, depart leaving a golden spindle behind, she decides to steal it to help finance her mother’s operstion. When she touches it, she is transported back to the 9th Century. She hears Kolbjorn and his father discussing jewels that Kolbjorn is supposed to protect, and when they leave the house, she steals them. Kolbjorn and she have a defining moment when their eyes connect, before she disapppears back to the 21st Century. What follows is a cat and mouse game where Rachel returns to plunder, and leaves treats and trinkets in the jewels’ place. Kolbjorn has his own issues. He is his father’s first born, but he is illegitimate. His father has him jumping through hoops trying to prove that he is good enough to be acknowledged as his true son and rightful heir…..much to the dismay of his half-brothers. When Kolbjorn catches Rachel in the act, and chases her through a blizzard, they end up spending the night in a hunting hut. There is a lot going on under the surface in this story. Sibling rivalry and what a child would do for their love of a parent play a large role in this story. You will find danger, wisdom and steam as Rachel and Kolbjorn learn that sometimes love means letting go. I really loved this story!.

The American Health Care System is so bad, one has to go back in time and steal from Vikings.
Rachel's mother is dying, and needs a life saving kidney. But, Rachel nor her mother have $200,000 lying around. As Rachel wonders what to do, she is approached by one of the Norns who give her a spindle which transports her from 21st century Chicago to 9th century Norway. Not knowing what happened at first, she stumbles into a house to find a chest full of jewels... if Rachel could just take those, get them back to the future, she could pay for her mother's operation! So, the spindle lets her back and forth. She catches the eye of Kolbjorn, who in turn catches her eye. What can she do about it, though? She doesn't belong in this time, and her mother needs her.
Kolbjorn is a proud, intelligent warrior... a son to be proud of, except his father does not accept him. Kolbjorn is his b@stard and Kolbjorn's two younger brothers are his legitimate sons. Kolbjorn let's them treat him like crap because he so badly wants to be accepted. To make matters worse, someone keeps stealing their jewels, which makes Kolbjorn fall out of favor even more.
One night, Kolbjorn catches up with Rachel, and realizes the girl he's been dreaming about is also the jewel thief. His father will kill her, and he's duty bound to take her to him...
The love happens really quick , but I do appreciate the lack of "no way did I time travel" when evidence all points to just that. Can't wait to see what the Norns do next!
For the love of family - choosing the right path Norway 874AD Kolbjorn, illegitimate son of Jarl Bjorn. Desperate to be made a legitimate son and have his fathers approval and affection. Chicago 2018 Rachel, out of ideas and needing to find money fast for a medical procedure to save her mother’s life. Three little old ladies sitting knitting on a bench at the pier talk to Rachel and walking off leave a gold spindle behind. In desperation and not wanting to lose her mother she tries to take it, touching it she immediately disappears. Stunned she finds that she has been transported back in time to a Viking village where she overhears a conversation with Kolbjorn and his father. Thinking that this may be the way to save her mother, Rachel does the unthinkable. This story shows just how far you will go to protect and save someone you love. Also how far and what you will do to gain respect, love and acceptance from a family member. Two people connected and attracted to each other, trying to obtain what they know and feel is important in their lives, which ultimately pits them one against the other. Another really enjoyable story that had me wondering how these two were going to overcome their problems and achieve the outcome that I wanted them to have. Loved the story and the characters. I guarantee that you will enjoy every moment of this story and guarantee that you will be like me and find yourself unable to put the book down till you discover the final outcome. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. She’s stealing from the past. He’s guarding his future. Will a modern woman’s mission kindle hot Viking passions? Chicago, 2018. Rachel will do anything to secure her mother’s kidney transplant. She just never thought her cash-rich solution would come from traveling back in time to a world of Vikings. As she pockets valuable jewelry from the past to pay for her mother’s future, she’s stopped in her tracks by a stunning Nordic warrior…
Norway, 874. Kolbjorn longs for his father’s approval. Born a bastard, the Viking rejoices when his father promises to accept him… if he successfully safeguards a cache of valuable gemstones. But when a glowing goddess appears out of thin air to steal the jewels, his heart stands in the way of his sword.
As Rachel gets closer to raising the funds, Kolbjorn fears he’ll never capture the beautiful thief. But neither expect the massive snowstorm that forces them together for the night.
Will Rachel defy the fierce warrior or will her mission of mercy submit to primitive passions?
⏳Exciting tale: a daughter's quest and her Viking hero who holds the key to success! 4.5 🌟stars I found this story fast-paced, exciting, and at times steamy, at others heartbreaking. Time travel, muscled Vikings, and an urgent, dangerous quest to save a loved one -- a truly enjoyable combination, and complete, despite its shorter length.
What I found strange was the Viking hero's family name. Kolbjorn, son of Jarl Bjorn, comes from a family that are associated to the wolf, sort of like their totem spirit. Yet their names are variations of the Scandinavian word for BEAR. An anomaly not explained; though perplexing it did not dampen my enjoyment of the plot and love story.
Bear or wolf in name and spirit, Kolbjorn Bjornsson is a super hero with an endless capacity for love and loyalty, and heroine Rachel lucky to find him (with a strategic nudge from the Norn, the Viking Fates!).;-)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
How do you earn a parent's love? Rachel is trying to save her mother's life by stealing enough to pay for a life-saving transplant. Kolbjorn is trying to earn the respect of his father and overcome the stigma of his illegitimate birth. Both have let themselves become so focused on their parents' lives that they've forgotten how to live their own to the fullest. Instead of evil step sisters in this time travel fantasy, we have evil step brothers who are plotting against Kolbjorn. The attraction between Rachel and her Viking hunk is electric. After they discover that their respective worldviews and sense of self-worth have been based on misunderstanding and manipulation, they know they need to refocus on each other. I liked the strength of the two main characters, and their struggles to "do the right thing" as they are pulled in various directions.

Be swept away to the realm of time travel. Rachel is an unintentional thief, the Norns had sent her back in time to find her Viking. Instead being a daughter of a jeweler she sees her opportunity to steal Viking jewelry and return to her time to sell it. She does has her reasons, she desperately needs money to help pay for her mother’s transplant. Kolbjorn is the Jarl illegitimate son. He has spent his whole life proving himself to his father that he is worthy to be called son. When he sees a woman disappearing before his eyes and the jewels he was to guard are gone he has mixed feelings. Catch the thief or love the thief? Yes I definitely do love this genre! And the author knows how to weave a fantastic story in such a short book. Can be read as a standalone but why miss out on the previous books. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #VikingsLove #MariahStone
This is book 4 of the series and that I have read, I must say this was a little different than the others but not in a bad way in a good way. It makes the series more exciting for the readers when they differ. It also felt like it was shorter than the others but love it as I always do a Mariah Stone read.
Kolbjorn is the illegitimate firstborn son of Jarl Bjorn’ Clan. He has always done what his father wishes in the hope of one day becoming a real part of the family and his rightful place . Rachel lived in Chicago in 2018, Her mother is very ill, and she will do just about anything to get the money needed for her surgery. So when she finds herself in 874 AD near a village in Norway, she overhears the Jarl and a Viking talking about a treasure she thinks she has found her hope.
I am enjoying every book of this series and I am sure you will as well. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Rachel is in need of money for her mothers kidney transplant surgery. Kobjorn is a Viking in 874, an illegitimate oldest son of the about-to-be king. She travels back in time when she touches a golden thimble and meets Kobjorn almost immediately, learning of jewels, etc. Their chemistry binds them, but circumstances put them in awkward situations. The characters have interesting backstories and insight into what the other might need. Clever ploys and plot twists keep the pages turning, while the steam grows stronger. Her mother and his father cause much grief and big decisions are made. Loved the snowed in cabin period and the end on the ship. The ending brings it all together very well. Great addition to the series.

Those tricky Norns are at it again! They spin fate with their golden spindle and send Rachel back in time to Norway 874. Rachel needs money, her mother needs a kidney to survive and without insurance her only hope is a windfall or perhaps some ancient Viking jewels. Kolbjorn wants nothing more than the love and acceptance of his father even though he is illegitimate. He has worked unceasingly to gain recognition and become a true son to his father. His father trusts him to guard his precious jewels as one more test to prove his worth. Rachel and Kolbjorn will give all for their noble causes but when their paths cross, they will never be the same. Two honorable people drawn together and at the same time pulled apart. Powerful and moving story that takes many turns. It keeps your attention and keeps you guessing. Loved it!
This is the fourth book in this series. It’s Kolbjorn & Rachel’s story. He’s a bastard first born son of a Viking Jarl in the ninth century. He has two dissolute brothers. They want to be the Jarl’s only recognized sons to inherit. The jarl made him a promise years ago that if he was a great warrior & man, follow his rules, that he’d recognize him & let him be a member of his family of wolves. She’s a jewelry maker from the twenty first century Chicago. Her dad left her, her brother & mom years ago. He left a void in her life & heart. Now, her mom is very ill, needs a kidney transplant that costs $200K & there’s a waiting list. She is desperate to find the funds for her mom’s surgery. The norns present her with a wild idea. My only gripe is that this was a short read. It was very enjoyable though. I highly recommend this series.
"Kolbjorn had to follow the code of honor to the letter: courage..."
"Kolbjorn had to follow the code of honor to the letter: courage, magnanimity, strength, loyalty, generosity, integrity, and respect."
Rachel is desperate to help her mother and she's about to discover what she means when she says she'll do anything.
Kolbjorn is determined to prove to his father that he is a worthy heir, A son to be proud of, but Rachel is the only person he's ever met who shares with him the life changing truth about whose approval truly matters.
This done in one stand alone kindle unlimited quick read is about love of family and loyalty. The lengths to which we will go for those we care about and treasure... and where the lines in the sand of morals, ethics, and more are.
Mariah Stone is the author of this historical time traveler romance.
Mariah Stone always keeps my attention, and I need to finish reading in one day.
Kolbjorn lives in Norway in .875, he is a proud Viking warrior, living with many of the same family issues. Kolbjorn is puzzled as to how jewelry and other riches keep disappearing from the treasure trove.
Rachel lives in Chicago with a sick mum. The need to provide money to pay for the medication, makes life difficult, finding herself in Norway with Vikings and the threat of loosing her life, makes her reconsider her life.
I highly recommend this series to you AWESOME ⚘

This was shorter than the previous books, but still enjoyable. I liked the fast-pace of this novel as well as the characters instantly falling in love with each other at first sight. The differing personalities of both characters was a great way of highlighting their similarities: where Kolbjorn wanted to please his father even though he was stricter with him than his legitimate sons, Rachel had another version of daddy issues. While Kolbjorn's mother was already dead, Rachel was trying to save hers. Despite their differences, they both deeply loved their parents and would do anything for them.
Rachel will do anything to raise the funds to help her mother, even steal! As it’s from the past, who is it hurting in the present? Kilbjorn is the illegitimate son of the Jarl and desperately works at being the best warrior to impress his father, but when he is given the task to take gold and silver to the King to curry favor some is stolen and he will stop at nothing to find the thief. This was such a wonderful story, both Rachel and Kilbjorn are thinking of their parent and you can understand both viewpoints. Their interaction makes this a fun read at times. Loved this book and am looking forward to the next in series.
In Norse mythology the Norn (3 Fates) are three ladies who spin the Fates of all men. The Norn are still active in 2018 and step in to help Rachel help her mother and in turn help Kolbjorn become his best self.
'Viking Love' is the 2nd book in Mariah Stone's Called by a Viking series. It's full of emotion, chemistry, drama, action, steam, hot Viking male, and steamy romance.
The chemistry between Kolbjorn & Rachel is marvelous and the story line was very enjoyable and touching, it's a definite must read for any fan of Viking Time-Travel and I can't wait to read more from Ms. Stone.

The Called by a Viking series is fast becoming a new favorite time traveling romance series! The characters and storyline are so interesting, and I really enjoy seeing which pair up we will read about next. In Viking's Love we focus on modern woman Rachel and viking Kolbjorn. Rachel is forced into making a difficult decision to help her mother. This leads her to travel back into the past and meet Kolbjorn. Both find themselves being a support to each other that they didn't know they could find from anyone and what follows is lust, adventure and tons of heat filled moments! This was a great addition to this series and I look forward to book 5!
This story was a very quick book, taking place mostly over the span of a single night. Their story had forced proximity, insta-love, enemies to lovers with definite touch her and ☠️ vibes. Of all the books in the Called by a Viking series, this went by the quickest but wasn’t without its steamy scenes! As always, there was the promised HEA, but the path to it was not without its normal twists and turns. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

This is the 4th book in the Called by a Viking series by Mariah Stone. Rachel needed money to finance her mother's surgery and she found a way to travel back in time to a handy stash of Viking jewellery. Kolbjorn is an illegitimate son of a viking with two legitimate sons who are very cruel. The one way to gain favour is to safeguard the jewels for his father. When the two run into each other sparks fly. She’s stealing from the past. He’s guarding his future. Who will succeed?.

A book about how far people with go for loyalty to their family. I am mixed on the storyline with Rachel stealing from the Vikings. Kolbjorn is the illegitimate firstborn son of Jarl Bjorn’ Clan. He will do anything to show his loyalty to his father in hope for acceptance. Rachel is desperate for funds to get her mom lifesaving medical care. A golden spindle offers her a way by stealing jewels to bring back to sell. What happens when Kolbjorn catches his little thief? Overall a good story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A strong lesson learned. Two characters, from differing times, both want to do what is best for their family. How they go about this and what they learn in the process, makes this a book well worth reading. There is lots of action and angst in the storyline, with strong, well developed characters. I enjoyed this book. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
