With so many potential suspects, classic detective work, jaw-dropping plot twists, life or death situations, witty banter (filled with historically accurate 1930s slang), and well-developed characters and relationships, this second Beatrice mystery is somehow even better than the first! This series is one I’d recommend to friends, family, and students with no concern about content triggers. It’s Agatha Christie meets Nancy Drew with enough modern literary flair to keep this English teacher thoroughly invested for the ride! I can’t wait for the next one!

This book was a great read! I have been in a bit of a reading slump for a long time and this book snapped me out of it!! It’s been a really long time since I’ve stayed up late wanting to read “just one more chapter”, but this book had me furiously turning the pages! There were so many unexpected twists and turns in this story, an incredible cast of new characters, and surprising moments and touch and go scenarios, not to mention the incredibly thoroughly researched historical setting.. a truly immersive and action-packed book! I recommend to everyone!

Bonus: a fairly “clean read” compared to most books in the market today, so I’d recommend for younger and more tame audiences as well!

Classic, Charming, Witty

Our favorite fiery-redhead returns for this sequel, kicking fannies and taking names. This was such a fun little adventure, full of all the twists and turns you could hope for!
