A Love Woven In Moonlight

Buried deep in the shadows of the Dark Woods—nestled between the overgrown hemlocks—stands a humble cottage. A safe haven for the coven of witches that Aerie has learned to call her home. After escaping the horrific nightmare of her fae upbringing, the coven took her in with little questions asked and a whole lot of love. But when her past comes knocking, it costs her more than her secrets. Her entire life is engulfed in flames, reduced to nothing more than smoldering fragments and deep seeded pain.

Following the plumes of smoke deep into the Dark Woods, Bastian Darroch is looking only for one thing—any sign of his wayward brother amidst the trees. When he finds the wounded fae instead, he has no choice but to bring her back with him—inside the Tribe’s borders and into his home. Between the grief and pain that plagues him and the loneliness that comes with his new title as Chieftain, tending to a creature whose entire bloodline exists as enemies to the tribe is the last thing he needs to take on.

Thrown together under the most erratic circumstances, this unlikely pairing must decide if they can coexist amongst the other’s pain and prejudice. Will their pasts haunt them too deeply to allow them to look towards their future? Or could this be a chance given by the Fates themselves for something more—an opportunity to rest in the arms of another and build the family both of them long for.

Hi there! I'm Lindsey N. Rhoden. I’m a mama to four crazy kiddos, a full time homeschooler, and a part time writer with an affinity for all things herbal. I’ve spent the last several years as a birth/postpartum photographer and doula, specializing in herbal and Ayurvedic care. In the past year, I decided to take a step back from that line of work to focus on my family and make room for other passions.
I love exploring darker elements through my writing and focusing on the more taboo topics of mental health and what that kind of pure, raw emotion can look like. I try to bring my writing to life through elements of nature and descriptive language. My main goal in my work is to write real, raw emotion that the reader can relate to and can feel through the pages, whether that be love, excitement, panic, or pain.
I’ve been a writer for as long as I could hold a pen, but I’ve always struggled to give my writing the time it deserved to truly develop. I dove into the world of literature during college and earned my degree in English literature with a concentration in creative writing from the University of Central Florida. Authors such as Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Edgar Allen Poe inspired me to continue pursing my own writing. Motherhood had other plans, though, and I took a long reprieve after I graduated in 2018. In 2023, I decided to dive back into the world of writing and found out that apparently I had a lot to say.

I loved this novella so much! Lindsey has masterfully conveyed such an array of emotions in less than 200 pages in A Love Woven In Moonlight.

A Tether Through The Rift has shown us Bastian & Aerie and their loving relationship, but now we have seen it from its beginnings and the very first moment fate set Bastian upon Aerie's path.

Aerie's past breaks my heart; I cried for her broken childhood, her sisters and her coven, and all the things that could've but never happened. The same goes for Bastian; he had his own share of grief, pain, and loss and is still grieving, in a way, the loss of his relationship with his brother.

Bastian and Aerie's relationship is a testament to the healing power of love. They are each other's sanctuary, nurturing and bringing out the best in one another. Their journey is a balm for the soul, a reminder that love can heal even the deepest wounds.

"There is no part of you I couldn't love," he confessed, his voice like gravel. "No piece of you that would scare me or cause me to turn away. You just have to let me. Please, let me."

I am so happy I witnessed Bastian & Aerie getting their HEA, accepting each other and slowly healing the pain and the sorrow. Thank you, Lindsey, for gifting me the ARC and allowing me to return to this magical world you have created!

"He was right when he said this was his home—it was mine too."

A Love Woven In Moonlight is being released on October 17th; gift yourself this beautiful story, and you won't regret it!

A Love Woven In Moonlight will bring you:
- a novella set in the world of Lindsey Rhoden's magical world of A Tether Through The Rift
- the story of Bastian & Aerie, a runaway fae and an unseasoned chieftain
- pain, grief, loss, regrets
- finding love in unlikely places
- healing and nurturing
- being each other's home
- witchy vibes
- a true Halloween romantasy

“I looked around the table, suddenly overcome with the amount of love and acceptance I’d found here. My life before this was one of heartache and misery—one I often thought about ending just out of desperation to escape. But now, suddenly, I realized where my life’s thread must have been leading me. I was thankful for my need to persevere, my need to find what else was out there besides fae wrath and captivity. It was not all for nothing. It was leading me here to this moment all that time, to my sisters, my family that had taken me in and shown me what it looked like to rely on others—to love others.”

Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this eARC.

This was such a wonderful novella. I love Lindsey’s writing, it is truly beautiful and I wish I could bask in it all day 🌞 ATTTR immediately drew me in and this novella was no different. It feels like you are there with the characters, experiencing their world and their emotions alongside them. I really loved reading about Aerie and her history, along with her journey with Bastian - learning that it’s okay to be vulnerable and it’s okay for that vulnerability to be reciprocated. That it’s safe to love and be loved.

This novella releases on 10.17 and I think it’s the perfect addition to your fall/spooky tbr. The witchy vibes are 😍

A Love Woven In Moonlight - Lindsey Rhoden

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
arc - releases 10/17/2024

Y’all. When I tell you this is one of the most beautiful books I’ve read. Lindsey absolutely captivated my heart and in less than 200 pages.

“They were warm cups of tea in the midafternoon sun and long walks at night under the full moon. They were my sisters—my home.”

This is a prequel novella to A Tether Through the Rift (which is also one of my favorite reads of the year) and although my heart was broken at some points, I loved getting to see Aerie’s story and how her and Bastian’s love unfolds.

“We were two forces, caught in each other's pull—living and breathing with one heart, one soul.”

Lindsey, I am so incredibly thankful to continue to be on your arc team and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future!!

When Bastian calls her a good girl. 😍 The spice was amazing! Bastian knows what Aerie wants and he is the perfect green flag guy that protects her with every fiber of his being.

This was a cozy read with witchy vibes that brought found family to the table. I already loved Lindsey’s first book, A Tether Through the Rift, and this blended perfectly into it. We get sprinkled of Vander—the shadow daddy in Tether—which is a bonus, but Bastian takes the cake in this book. I love him. He allows Aerie the space she needs to heal after a very traumatic event. And within his home she finds her footing, herself and someone she can start a life with. 💜

I am utterly at a loss for words to convey the sheer brilliance of this novella! Lindsey has, once again, transcended all expectations, delivering a masterpiece that resonates deep within the soul. Her writing style captures my heart like no other; each beautifully crafted sentence dances on the page, and her vivid descriptions transport me to another world. I cannot urge you enough to dive into A Tether Through the Rift! This novella masterfully sets the stage for the incredible journey that awaits in ATTTR, and trust me, you do not want to miss it!

This novella tugged at my heartstrings, both the good ones and the sad.

Aerie’s history is haunting and filled with fear, sadness, and sorrow, and to see that while still seeing the ‘sunshine’ she is makes me so happy.

I loved her and Bastien together, how they came together and how their story grew. My favorite thing? The ‘taking care of you’ trope, ESPECIALLY when they bathe the other person in an act of care.. it has me in a chokehold.

Their whole dynamic is so sweet and loving and I’m super happy this novella was written!!

So good, so sweet, definitely recommend reading book 1 and this novella!

Another 5 ⭐️ book for Lindsey.

This novella, from the first chapter to the epilogue is like a walk in a forest in autumn. Such a nice moment, Aerie and Bastian’ story was a must have, and now we have it.
Be ready, if you start to read this novella, you will not be able to close it before you finish it. And even then, you will look forward to the next book from this series!

“There was magic there, a kind I’d never been able to experience before, when I slowed down enough to truly listen and look within nature itself. When I took time to see and feel and accept the world around me in a different way-a purer way…
This was living.”

Lindsey Rhoden, A Love Woven in Moonlight

A Love Woven in Moonlight, by Lindsey Rhoden, is the beautifully told story of how Aerie and Bastian, two lonely and broken souls, found each other and fell in love. This is a prequel novella to A Tether Through the Rift, Ms. Rhoden’s incredible debut romantasy, and Aerie and Bastian are two main side characters. They were endearing that I wanted to know about them and their relationship. This novella was all I hoped for and more. Ms. Rhoden tells their story with care, healing, trust, and especially love. It is not just the love between Aerie and Bastian, but the love Aerie has for her coven sisters, Bastian’s love for his brother, Vander, and Bastian’s love for the people under his protection as chieftain of his tribe. Bastian and Aerie could not be more different, as she is fae and he is the leader of the Talamh Earth Tribe, as well a wolf shifter. The fae and the different tribes are bitter enemies, but Aerie only wants to live a life of peace, having grown up with a cruel and brutal father. When Bastian finds Aerie wounded, he takes her back to his estate on tribal lands. As she heals from her wounds physically, the wounds to her soul run deep. Bastian is lonely, living on the estate with no one else, with Vander coming home very infrequently. They have suffered the loss of their mother, and their closest friend, Hazlenn is missing. As Vander searches for her, the care of the tribe has been passed to Bastian, and the weight of it all has closed him off to relationships. However, the more time Aerie and Bastian spend together, they begin to heal each other. And while some wounds run deep, a fated love will bind them together as nothing else can. I loved every moment of A Love Woven in Moonlight. I felt so many emotions as I read their story. Sorrow for what Aerie went through, pain for Bastian’s loneliness, joy as they began to trust each other, and overwhelming love that they found each other. I cannot recommend this book enough. I also highly recommend reading A Tether Through the Rift, where we first meet them. Both books are sheer romantasy perfection.

“I saw something in those pain-filled eyes, something different and soft. Something that got the best of my curiosity…She has a fierce kind of fight in her, a dangerously determined one, perhaps. But there was more that intrigued me: pain and guilt and love swirled in those bright blue eyes. Something worth saving.”
Lindsey Rhoden, A Love Woven in Moonlight

We first meet Aerie and Bastian in A Tether Through the Rift, which takes place 10 years after A Love Woven in Moonlight. They were so in love, I just knew I wanted to know more of their story, and this novella did not disappoint. Their characters were so well-written and had beautiful, complete arcs. Aerie is wounded not just physically, but in both her heart and soul when Bastian finds her in the burned cottage, she shared with her coven sisters. They were her found family, all of them brought together by tragic pasts, but they built a wonderful life together. A life of love, freedom, and a coven whose magic was grounded in nature. I loved that aspect the book, that it was filled with nature in most parts of their lives. This is true for both Aerie and Bastian. This passage filled me that love for nature that has always been a big part of my life.

“It was pure ecstasy watching her like this. The most unabashed version of her I’d seen yet. Something told me this, this right here, was truly who she was. Without all of the pain, without the grief and loss and haunting memories of her past. Tonight she was just Aerie, dancing beneath the moon and amongst the trees, her own small version of nature’s perfection.”
Lindsey Rhoden, A Love Woven in Moonlight

Bastian could not leave her in the burned cottage, and takes her back to his estate on tribal lands. It is dangerous as the fae are hated from a war that decimated the tribes years ago. Something drives him to save her, despite the danger it may pose. As she heals physically, she is still heartbroken at the loss of her sisters. Bastian is steeped in loneliness and sorrow from his own losses, plus the burden of being chieftain of his tribe, and taking care of his people. The more time they spend together, the more they are drawn to each other. Despite this, Aerie is convinced she must leave, and Bastian wants to convince her to stay, but neither gives voice to their wishes, only dropping subtle hints.
Whenever I was reading about Aerie, she gave off this aura of peace that I could feel through the pages. There was something both soothing and gentle about her, despite the horror she suffered at the hands of her father. She loves to garden, dance under a full moon, and using her fae ability and potions she learned from her coven. Aerie never hesitated to help anyone in need. She would ease Bastian’s pain or stress, when he felt overwhelmed with his responsibilities, or the sadness of losing his mother and Hazlenn. In turn, Bastian was a strong warrior, but also a kind and gentle man. He always wanted to make Aerie happy, as over time, he knew she was fated for him. They fit together perfectly, healing each other in body and soul.

“I cocked my head, viewing him for perhaps the first time through the eyes of loss and grief. I had to admit, in my short time here, I hadn’t given much thought to the reasoning behind the quiet of the estate…I wondered if has sent everyone away to give me privacy as I recovered. But maybe there was more to it than that. Maybe we were more alike than I thought.”
Lindsey Rhoden, A Love Woven in Moonlight

A Love Woven in Moonlight takes place in Tir Nadaar, the same world in A Tether Through the Rift. We only see a small part in this book, most of it takes place in Bastian’s estate or in the Dark Forest. Everything was brought to life through Ms. Rhoden’s amazing prose. We get to feel as though we are walking through the lonely, empty estate, and the feel the ancient magic in the Dark Forest. Aerie sees the neglected gardens and wants to begin taking care of them, to start planting and bringing new life to them again. Of course, in her mind, it is only until she leaves. I loved how everything was centered around nature and life. This reflected Aerie and Bastian’s relationship, one that was nurtured and grown, and brought to life through love.

“He just shifted me to the crook of his arm, wrapping me in his embrace and stroking my hair softly as we watched the sky above. I didn’t need him to speak, didn’t need him to confirm that he felt what I did just now. It was more than sex, more than just lust or attraction. It was as if here, beneath the moon and stars above, our souls were twining together, woven in a complicated tapestry made of need and grief and moonlight.”
Lindsey Rhoden, A Love Woven in Moonlight

The pacing was perfect. I was drawn into this story from the first page, where we meet Aerie and her coven sisters. From there, the story focuses on Aerie and Bastian, and their story of falling in love. There were the moments of Aerie’s initial fear of Bastian and being on tribal lands. Bastian’s unease around her as she is fae, and he simply does not know what to do initially to help her. I never had the impression that Bastian mistrusted or feared her. In the condition he found her in, she clearly had suffered serious trauma. He was alone for so long, that I felt he really did not know exactly how to live with someone in his home. Bastian was very charming, and truly adorable trying to make Aerie comfortable at the estate. There were so many emotions that I felt. I cried, I felt angry, sad, and happy. There are so many beautiful passages in this book, and Ms. Rhoden ran me through a gamut of emotions. In the end, the love story of Aerie and Bastian was an absolute joy to read and I loved every moment. I highly recommend A Love Woven in Moonlight, and A Tether Through the Rift as well. I know you will fall in love with these characters and the world as much as I have.

“I love you Aerie.” He reached out, running a hand through my unruly hair. “I want you to marry me, to start a life together here, to spend every day just like this.”…
I love you too, Bastian.” The words felt as easy as breathing as they left my lips. I thought I’d regret saying them, thought they’d bring only more heartache and confusion…I knew without a doubt in my mind that this was exactly where I wanted to be.”

✨A Love Woven in Moonlight✨

What a perfect little Romantasy!! This novella that sits as a bit of a background/prequel to Lindsey’s debut A Tether Through the Rift was so perfect. We meet the characters in Tether but in here we get to learn about HOW they became the amazing people they are in that novel. However, I feel this can be read alone, before, or after. But for the most connected experience with the MMC from Tether, read after.

Following 2 first person POVs, Aerie and Bastian, we journey with them as Aerie has finally escaped her evil father’s clutches and finds safety in her coven. But safety is a falsehood and she’s then found clinging to life by none other than the chieftain of those her hate her kind, Bastian. From here we experience a story about healing, supporting, accepting the darkest and lightest parts of ourselves, and unconditional love.

This novella gave my heart exactly what it needed and even uplifted my experience from book one. I thought it was completely precious with its low stakes, mental health rep, sweet spice, and cozy found family vibes.

Tropes you may find in ALWIM are forced proximity, he tends to her wounds, hair washing, pining, low stakes and low world building (because it’s in the main novel), tension, medium spice, witches, fae, shifters, and cottage core vibes.

I am so thrilled to once again be an arc reader for Lindsey. It’s an honor to read this gifted piece and I can’t wait for Tether’s sequel!!

This novella--a companion to A Tether Through the Rift--contained so much heart and emotion in its 200 pages.

Aerie has finally found a home where she thought a fae like her never would--in a coven of witches. Here, she's found her family, her sisters. But when the worst thing happens, Aerie is suddenly forced to leave and find solace elsewhere. Most people don't like the fae, but the shifter Chieftan who finds her, Bastian, takes pity on her and brings her to his house to heal from her physical and emotional wounds. Aerie and Bastian are different in almost every possible way. Will they be able to coexist amidst their pain and the prejudices they hold? Maybe they'll even find a way to overcome it all to find love and a new home with each other.

A Love Woven in Moonlight takes two of the side characters from the novel A Tether Through the Rift and shows their story before the events of that story. I loved the novel and enjoyed seeing both Aerie's and Bastian's backstory.

The author did an excellent job making these characters very real and relatable. This novella shows how people handle their grief in vastly different ways. Both Bastian and Aerie have past trauma they're working through along with the prejudice they hold for each others' species. But as they heal, they find that they might have more in common than they thought.

Welcome to a maybe the coziest prequel I’ve ever read. A Love Woven in Moonlight shines light on Aerie, a fae running from her past who finds a new family with a coven of witches. When her past catches up with her, she’s left with nothing except salvation in the form of Bastian, a shifter chieftain, who is looking for his lost brother. Bastian helps nurse her wounds, both physical and mental, and in the process, Aerie saves Bastian from his own wounds of grief and loneliness he struggles from. Their love is based on opposites attract and true acceptance no matter their past. Lindsey captures their range of emotions beautifully on page. This was the love story I wanted to learn more about when reading Lindsey’s debut novel, and I’m so glad we have it now.

This was such a charming novella. If you haven’t read the first book of the series, A Tether Through the Rift, you’re missing out. (And you can read it on KU, so go grab it).

I looooved this novella! In all honesty, I wish that Aerie and Bastian’s story were our main novel and Hazel and Vander’s the novella 😅 After finishing this, I found myself so encapsulated with Aerie, her backstory, her evil fae king father, and her sprouting love story with the chieftain that I needed MORE! I admire Aerie’s strength and Bastian’s ability to step up and lead in the face of adversity, and I find them just so perfect for one another. Aerie’s intrinsic fae power and the powers she learned from her witch sisters are also so intriguing! Of course, because this is a novella, the plot line moved very fast and there isn’t much action, but getting this little piece of two of my favorite characters from the main novel was such a joy. Can’t wait to see where book three (not counting the novellas) takes them!

A chieftain shifter & a faerie ❣️ A quick read. Prequel novella to A Tether Through the Rift. A love found in the forbidden. I love a light read and am happy we got a little back story for Bastian & Aerie while I impatiently wait for book 2 in the series.

This novella was phenomenal! I was captivated by every moment of this magical tale of loss, love, and healing. The pacing was spot on, with Aerie and Bastian’s chemistry stealing the show - so intense and beautifully done. And the spice? YES! While ATTTR’s slow burn left me wanting more, this delivered exactly what I was hoping for. Lindsey’s writing was stunning, evoking every emotion and making the story feel complete. I loved every second of it! Everything was perfect 😍

I had the honor of reading "A Love Woven in Moonlight" as a beta copy & ARC
This in no way has affected my honest review:

Alright- I gave ATTTR 4(plus) stars, and I really enjoyed the narrative. ALWIM is just a beautiful, if not more. It's emotional telling of two of my favorite characters' origins. Learning more about the world, magic, and fae hierarchy, in such a short & sweet novella is wonderful. It is the perfect read for a crisp fall day

I usually looove prequel novellas, especially as they give more depth to already established characters in the main story if done well, and it was done GREAT in this case. It really pulled on my heartstrings and had a solid storyline in the short span and I honestly cant wait to read the main book and any other books&novellas set in this world because i feel like there's so much more to discover!

This felt very rushed. I didn't feel a natural evolution to Aerie & Bastian's relationship, just that they were suddenly in love after coming together during a traumatic time for Aerie. Also, everyone stopping to hear Aerie's big revelation about her father's treatment of her while a child is laying unconscious and wounded on a sofa just felt off. It almost felt like it needed to be a novel or at least longer to allow their relationship to develop.

Love, healing, big bad chieftain.

This book gave me allll the feels!

This novella was everything. We know Bastian and Aerie from A Tether Through The Rift and I absolutely love how we could see the beginning of their story together.

The way they felt so much younger was amazing to read and being able to see how much they grow between this novella and ATTTR was amazing and really fulfilling. Being able to see where they started to what they are now, everything.

I am so happy to know Aerie and Bastian’s story, this was a beautiful slow-burn that had me teary eyed most of the time. I cried with Aerie for her sisters, such a heartbreaking start with such a beautifully passionate ending. The way Lindsey writes is like falling directly into the story and I enjoyed every second.

I love a good back story and novella! This book was short but not lacking in depth & heartache yet redemptive even in darkness. I love the world that was build in the original book and seeing characters develop it while their love development was super fun! All
It is a perfect complement to the main story: A Tether Through The Rift

This was such a stunning novella about one of my favorite characters from A Tether Through the Rift. Dare I say that I still want more? While this novella takes place before A Tether Through The Rift, I would read ATTTR FIRST! This is a great novella that gives you the origins of Aerie and Bastian. It can also ruin a little bit of the mystery for ATTTR. I loved this little novella. There’s found family, heartbreak, immense loss, traumatic past, and overcoming all in less than 200 pages. This is not an easy feat, but is handled beautifully. It’s a fast read, but I love the origin stories of existing romances in books I love!

A Love Woven in Moonlight is a prequel novella to A Tether Through The Rift but you need to have read Tether to fully understand and appreciate this novella.

This novella follows the background story of Aerie and Bastian’s love story. We learn so much about Aerie and she has an amazing story to tell.

I loved getting back into this world again, there were set ups that lead into events in book one and future books.

Highly recommend this series

Aerie, a fae living with her coven in the woods, she has found a family that doesn’t care about her past and chooses to love her everyday. She is finally stepping into herself after everything she has been through, till one day she comes home and her whole worlds gets turned upside down. Bastian, an unseasoned chieftain finds Aerie barely alive in her cottage. He decides to take her back to his estate to care for her till she is better. Aerie knows she can’t stay with Bastian forever she needs to leave but something stops her.

This story follows Aerie and Bastian’s love story. We were able to see some of Aerie’s and Bastian’s love for each other in ATTTR but with this novella we got to see it from the beginning. I was sitting here crying my eyes out for half of this book. The things Aerie goes through in this book made me so sad and mad at her father. I’m happy I was able to learn more about both of them. The world building in this book is low due to it being a novella, if you want the full world building, go read ATTTR. This book had just the right amount of spice and with it being under 200 pages this book packs a punch!

Overall 4 Stars⭐️

Lindsey, I am so incredibly thankful for receiving this as an ARC! I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. Thank you for trusting me with both of your books and being apart of this journey with you🫶🏻

4.5⭐️
🌶🌶

I usually don't do fantasy but the author has some different plans for me 👀
I freakin loved her debut and I loved this pretty novella.
I am so honoured to review such an amazing piece!
An easy 4.5⭐️ from me.
It had such a wholesome start but turned dark very soon. It really was in Aerie and Bastian's fate to be united by the Fates at the time when they needed each other the most.
The way Bastian cared for her was beautiful. It also provides a little insight into Vander's dealing when Hazlenn was missing.

I just felt like there could be some more chemistry between the characters but the plot is just so amazing you forget you are in a world that doesn't have magical elements🔮

So very excited for her release and wishing the author the very best because this is bomb 🫶🏼
