Set in the urban area of Trench Crest High School, this novel follows the lives of four inseparable sixteen-year-old sophomore friends - Reign Harden, Wynter Drain, Summer Giles, and Autumn Wiley. With themes of friendship, loyalty, trust, and resilience, "Rumor Has It" delves into the complexities of adolescence, the power of rumors, and the strength needed to overcome adversity in the face of societal challenges. Will the bonds of friendship prevail in the face of adversity, or will the weight of rumors tear the group apart?
This book made me feel soooo many emotions. It was definitely a perception changer. When you’re a kid and you see your classmates, you don’t think about what they have going on at home. You just see the outside and judge accordingly, let’s be honest. This book was an excellent reminder that we shouldn’t stop at the surface. You never know what people are going through. I was glued from page one, invested in each main character. This was an excellent debut book. I look forward to more! 🥰
Miss ma’am report here. I loved how each teenager had personality. But also they weren’t wrapped up in the seggs that most girls they age would. But I love how relatable and realistic the book was as well. I felt like I was in the book. Now the principal knew he wrong for getting everyone fired and or under evaluation. When in fact he was in debt with a student for buying drugs from him. Like be so fr. I like that each girl had a different story and outcome. I hate the nasty asss step sister though. How you tell her not to be in your phone when y’all switched phones by accident but you leaked her whole group chat. Make it make sense because it’s not bookie butt. I can’t wait for Christmas in the trenches. I know it’s going to be just as good. Wonderful job. It’s a quick read. Just took me longer because I’m a full time college student. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: 5.5 only because it’s about teenager coming of age. It’s a few scenes but they aren’t graphic because it’s kids. But still worth the read. Reading: Kindle Unlimited App Author: KuTura B. Emotions: 🥺🤬😩🥰🫶🏽🥹😂😭🍅😳🫣🥳😎🥹🥹🥹🤸🏽♀️ Rating: DO NOT WALK AT TF ALL. RUNNNNN !!!!!!!!
This was a very good book! I loved how it just takes you back to your school drama days. All the young ladies stories were different but they all faced the same challenges while attending Trench Crest. This book touches on the hardships of living in the hood, difficulties of friends and family. Definitely enjoyed this it was great and the storytelling was fantastic.
I liked it. I hope you continue the story when they go off to college or something near future for the girls. I love how everybody story was different but showed how similar they are in a way
Okay now! I really enjoyed this book . A lot of ppl may not like Winter but she grew on me. Man but the embarrassment of that dad , nothing but a pure drunk but when he step in for his baby girl I was so proud of him.. Next installment me please .
This book takes you through the lives of four high school teenagers who battles abuse, addictions, family turmoils and self esteem in their daily lives. Katura B did an awesome job with this book. It was well written, flowed well and kept my attention throughout. I am definitely looking forward to reading more about these young ladies and the changes within their school.
Rumor Has It by KuTura B, can best be summarized as: "Parents judge teenagers for behavior they engaged in themselves at that age." This multi-POV novel follows four friends; Summer, Winter, Autumn, and Reign, whose lives unravel when their private group chat is leaked to the entire school. Each girl faces her own struggle: navigating poverty, dealing with relationship drama, healing from familial trauma, and managing the weight of secrets. The leaked messages force them to reckon with not only public judgment but also the fragile trust within their own friendship. This book explores timely themes of digital privacy, the permanence of online communication, and how quickly loyalty can fracture under pressure. The characters are vibrant and well-developed, making it easy to empathize with their individual journeys. Each girl feels distinct, with her own voice and perspective that adds depth to the narrative. Their story arcs reach satisfying conclusions, though the pacing feels uneven, some threads were more resolved than others. My main critique is that the opening act takes up a significant portion of the book. While I understand the need to establish four unique characters and their group dynamic, the introductory sections feel drawn out. Readers eager for the central conflict, though there are several minor conflicts before the meat and potatoes, might find themselves waiting too long for the story to truly ignite. That said, this book is clearly intended for teenagers and young adults, and it succeeds in speaking to that audience. My thirteen-year-old self would have devoured this story in a single sitting. Though I'm no longer in the target demographic, reflecting on my own high school experience allowed me to appreciate the authenticity of the characters' struggles and the emotional weight of theie friendship. This book is lerfect for readers aged 13-21, who enjoy contemporary YA fiction with ensemble casts, realistic friendship drama, and stories that grapple with the complications of social media. Fans of books exploring the messy realities of teenage life will find much to love here.
“Wow… this book had me hooked from start to finish! Rumor Has It dives deep into the lives of four teenage girls navigating friendship, family struggles, and the chaos that comes with high school drama. What starts as a simple rumor spirals into a web of secrets, trust issues, and tough life lessons.
I loved how KuTura B. captured the raw emotions of each character — their struggles felt so real and relatable. The friendships felt authentic, and the story really shows how quickly things can fall apart when trust is broken.
If you’re looking for a powerful read that blends drama, emotion, and important life lessons, Rumor Has It is a must-read! Definitely one I couldn’t put down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 — Highly recommend!

Only because it’s too unrealistic. ATP, Dean was openly sleeping with the young girls as much as this foursome was catching on camera. They was just catching too much on camera and that’s all I kept thinking through the whole book. Like come on, no one is watching their surroundings! Anyway, I feel bad for Autumn, because her parents brushed off her pain. Reigns father made me so happy. I’m so happy for Summer as well; sis glowed up. And as for Wynta, I ain’t like how they assumed it was her. It was so obvious who it was if they would’ve just sat and thought about it. Hello. You sister who hates you just had your phone sweetie. But decent book.
As with any teenagers there’s a little drama here and there. At Trench crest high school the drama was with teachers, staff and kids but these four friends knew it all. Winter, Summer, Autumn and Rain was all in the midst of it. Not to mention their own family drama at home. This was a great book and amazing stories about each of those girls. Love it and I think every young teenager should read this
Great read. It was very GHETTO lol which I like. I will say sometimes I forgot what character I was reading about but that was a personal problem. A few errors in the book but nothing major.
Autumn reminded me so much of myself when I was 16. Just a girl trying to figure out life while making a few mistakes.
Raw, Real, & Drama-filled! This is a story that follows four friends who are simply trying to navigate their home, community, & school environment. They simply want to SURVIVE! This story was definitely realistic and touched on topics that teens honestly experience! Jamal was the most problematic character, I couldn’t stand him!
This book was so good. Trench Crest high kept me reading until the end. I’m happy the quartet was able to put their issues aside and get back to the way they used to be. Hopefully we will read more about these young ladies.
I started this book on a Buddy Read. Let's just say these girls got it rough. For being so young, their lives many could not even phantom but that friendship, that family they created within their circle is everything!!!
This read had me hollering. I can't believe the issues that young children goes home too. Summer and Reign's home life really did it for me. The bond these four girls have beat all odds. Very good read. Five stars from me!
Babyyyyyy now this brought me back to my high school years. It wasn’t that bad but the stories I could tell. This was a good book and I can not wait for part 2 to see what the girls are up too.
Mannn...this book will take you down memory lane!! From teachers messing with students, to the gossip/burn books. This book was a Rollercoaster ride of emotions! I swear I saw myself a little in each girl! The author did her thing! I want more lol!
I loved this book so much . It took me back to when I was in high school , you never know what kids at school go through. This was my first book I read by this author and she is definitely a fave ❤️❤️❤️
Now that I had time to come down from my Kutura B ride I can leave my review to say you did that! The journey with these young girls was amazing, you don’t find too many books that make you actually feel like you’re apart of the story. I felt like the big sister to all these girls. Man our community go through so much and even though this was fictional these stories are very much true and that’s what made this book one of my favorite YA readings.
This book definitely took me back to my teenage years. I grew up in the projects and the real life effects of adults that need some healing and maybe even rehab isn’t something expressed enough especially the effects it may have on their children. I look forward to the next book.
