Rate this book
Their wedding was a mistake. Their marriage isn’t.

Sabrina Page is determined to build a new life in Aster Bay, one that doesn’t involve her parents’ money or her sister’s ex-fiancé, Sebastian---after all, he blames her for his being left at the altar. But that was before they had to share a hotel room in Las Vegas.

Now, Sabrina realizes the one man who’s hated her for a decade is the one man she can’t forget.

The last person Sebastian Graham should be fantasizing about is his ex’s chaotic little sister, especially when he knows she’s keeping secrets. One ill-advised scheme to make her sister jealous and a few too many margaritas later, Sabrina and Sebastian wake up in the worst situation they can Married.

Overnight, Sabrina’s heart is tied in knots, but her financial situation becomes…simpler. Without her family’s money, she needs time to get her business started, and Sebastian is willing to make this a practical arrangement.

Except, it’s hard to ignore chemistry when you’re playing house together. And with each passing day — and night — this fake marriage starts to feel all too real.

First Comes Marriage is a steamy, small town, fake relationship, forbidden romance featuring a grumpy hero, meddling octogenarians, waking up married, and a guaranteed HEA.

She's done it again, folks!

I am all a-flutter! I have been waiting for Baz's story since I picked up this series, and I was not disappointed. Cara Dion has a way of writing swoon-worthy heroes that has me hooked from page one. Baz is the grumpy, over-protective MMC of your dreams! The chemistry between him and Sabrina was incredible, and I enjoyed every page.

I was really rooting for these two. She falls first, but he definitely falls harder, and we love to see it. As always in this series, the found family trope adds an extra level of warmth to the story. Seeing these two be supported (and called out) by their group of friends was natural and refreshing.

I also really enjoyed the frank discussion of chronic illness. Dion has featured chronic illness before, and each time, she tackles it with blunt honesty, empathy, and a dash of humor. As a chronic illness warrior myself, I appreciate seeing myself represented in romance, especially done this well.

This was almost a 5 stars for me, but I did feel the pacing at the end was a little rushed. I would have liked to linger on their HEA for a moment longer. However, for the sake of Goodreads scores, I am rounding up!

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving an honest review.

This is book 3 in the Astor Bay series. They can be read as standlones but prior characters are very much in all the books.

I absolutely LOVED everything about this book.... the pacing, the characters, the tension, the forbiddenness. 🤌🤌🤌 Cara's books are always a good time but this one is up there near the top of my favorites of hers.

Baz is the grumpy one of the friend group after getting left at the alter years ago. Sabrina is the sister of his ex-fiance (who he was friends with first) and the reason the wedding didn't happen. She returns to town after her own bad breakup and they unknowingly get paired to travel to a conference together...... in Vegas 😏

I thoroughly enjoyed this spin on the "wake up married in Vegas" trope. It absolutely made sense in the context of their relationship/problems as did the reasons they didn't break it off immediately.  And the tensionnnnnnn. Baz was fighting it hardddd and that made it all the more delicious when they gave in. Plus the "wife's" and the exhibition streak.... way to put both of my favorite things together and break my brain 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Overall if you haven't given Cara's work a try yet you absolutely should. It's a great spin on small town, has perfect banter and hilarious friend groups, annnnd 👨‍🍳💋 spice.

Read if you like:
- Ex-fiance's Sister
- Small Town Romance
- Grumpy Accountant
- She owns a Pottery Studio
- Woke up married in Vegas
- A littleeee exhibitionist streak
- 3rd Person POV
*noted the FMC has PCOS. Not sure if that falls as a trigger or point of interest for some

Wow. Literally thats all I can say about this book. It was really sweet, rom-commy to the fullest, and loved it. This is a funny, spicy story that hits you right in the feels from the start, and those punches just keep coming in the best way possible.

I loved the representation that the author had with the MCs and the real talk and discussion surrounding mental health and all that jazz. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend.

First Comes Marriage - Cara Dion

As I was finding quotes for my review and re reading all my highlights I got so giddy because I forgot HOW MUCH I loved these two. I didn't think the series could get any better, but good grief this one sits at the top for me.

"𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽❟ 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂?"

Baz was engaged to Sabrina's sister and when he was left at the alter he blamed her. Sabrina has had a Baz and knew that her sister was not a good egg, but Baz was unaware. Fast forward 10 years later where circumstances and alcohol bring these two together and married. The tension and the pining in this once is SO FRIGGIN good and the spice, oh the spice...🔥🫠. Basically read it.

Review:
I found First Comes Marriage by Cara Dion to be a fascinating read. I thoroughly enjoyed how the author incorporated the MFC having PCOS as I struggle with it. Sebastian, aka Baz, is the grumpy MMC, while the MFC, Sabrina, is his ex - fiancé’s little sister. This read had a marriage of convenience and open-door spice that I absolutely loved. I would highly recommend this book; you will not be disappointed.

This book was HOT. 🥵 🔥 🔥 🔥

My first book from this author and from this series, I had downloaded it because it was on sale for free (is there anything better?) and chose it for my quick nightly read. It ended up not being so quick because I enjoyed it and I wanted to take my time.

While it wasn’t the spiciest book I’ve ever read, I actually kind of enjoyed it because of that. The author was good at writing the spicy scenes in a way where I actually paid attention and in a way that kind of tested me. Normally, if I read books that have different kinds of interests from me (like public encounters and sex clubs) I can still read the book if it’s written well, but I either become detached and pulled from the story since it isn’t relatable to me OR it’s an uncomfortable experience that I skip sections of the book or DNF. This was not one of those! The author was great at finding that balance with things that I’d normally disconnect from where it was enough for me to actually wonder about the possibilities. Practically Goldilocks level; it was just right.

I absolutely ended up LOVING both the main characters. There were a ton of tropes sprinkled in without it actually being all encompassing, and boy, did it just highlight the uniqueness of the FMC and the discreet Alpha ness of the MMC.

I need me a Sebastian.

Though, I wish the MMC would’ve moved a bit faster in actually communicating his feelings, he did pretty much communicate to us readers through his actions in the best of ways. Who doesn’t love a slightly older man who was her friend (and probably her first real love); who doesn’t quite understand his feelings but he can sure notice the little things, support her in what she wants to do, and protect her- even from her family.

I wished there was a little less… Holly… across the board. But, after you read it, can you blame me? She, for obvious reasons, popped up (in conversation or person). But sometimes I wish she had popped up less in their conversations. And the fact that at the end of the book she still is seen as the golden child to her family. Ugh. Wished for a bit of closure on that.

Another thing; I kind of wish we had gotten to see a bit more of them after they finally communicated and said the “I love you’s”. Maybe even a future child epilogue. Just because, to me, they both seemed uncertain simply because of circumstances and not necessarily because they actually didn’t want kids. And they both would make great parents. It would’ve been the perfect full circle moment to her family that aren’t really a family, to both of their cheating exes, and to the FMC that seemed to always remember she might not be able to. Though, we could always see that happen in the next book since the series is about a group of friends. Just felt a little rushed towards the end, especially since it alternatively felt a little slow at the beginning.

The extended epilogue? Even spicier.

4.95 ⭐️

Just because I really did feel a little bit unsatisfied, past the normal “I wish it didn’t end”. Though, at the same time, I’m sure they’ll show up in the next book with his last single friend. So, this probably isn’t the last we’ve seen of them if we keep reading the series. I’m definitely glad I gave this book a chance because I really did enjoy it and the author’s writing!

Their wedding was a mistake. Their marriage isn’t.

This was my first Cara Dion book, and I enjoyed it. The woke-up married, forced proximity, and fake relationship tropes were done so well in this book, not to mention the enemies-to-lovers trope.

Sabrina and Sebastian were best friends, they met when Sabrina was younger and she would spend time with her aunt, Lucy, in Alter Bay. While Sabrina has always had feelings for Sebastian, he was engaged to her sister Molly. When Molly leaves Sebastian at the altar, he blames Sabrina - along with the whole town.

Now 10 years later Sabrina is back in Aster Bay to live with her aunt Lucy, after a devastating divorce left her with nothing and closed off to love again. Sebastian is NOT happy to see her back in HIS town. I wonder why Sebastian? And don’t tell me you hate her, because I’m not buying it. These two were great, Sebastian with his moody, grumpiness, and “I hate her she ruined my wedding” and Sabrina with her happy smiling face and “I have to make him be my friend again”. It was so cute. Then there's the fact that Sabrina wants to open a pottery studio in town and needs the Association’s permission, so what do meddling old ladies do?! They meddle and Sabrina and Sebastian find themselves in Vegas for the small-town tourism convention, and sharing a room, with one bed! After lots of tequila and lots of confessions and clearing up the air, these two wake up the next day married. They decide to stay married so Sabrina can get health insurance to take care of her PCOS.

This was a sweet story, I loved Sebastian and Sabrina. The PCOS and infertility representation was done well. The found family among the friends, Aunt Lucy, and the trivia ladies was great. I love small-town found family. Sabrina needed these people in her corner because her family was horrible. Except for Lucy. They only cared about appearances, status, and Holly. The way the mother treated Sabrina was sad. But she had Sebastian by her side. The spice was spicy! Holy hotness Sebastian. Overall this was a good book and I’m glad I got the opportunity to read it.

I haven’t read Cara Dion before, but I am hooked! Coming in on book 3 of a series, definitely had me adding the first two to my TBR. You don’t need to read the first 2 to stay on track, but past characters do pop up. I am excited to read these other stories. The complicated past our two MCs have, explaining how they know each other, had me hooked on wanting to find out where the story was going to go.

Sebastian (Baz) was left at the altar 10 years ago. Not really given a reason, but Baz always blamed Sabrina, the bride’s sister and his once best friend. They had both left their small town, but now Sabrina is back. Baz is not happy about her returning, since she left on such bad terms to him. Although it is pretty obvious the unhappiness may be a cover for other feelings.

Sabrina returns home after a bad divorce and nowhere else to go. Coming home has her full of mixed feelings. She is happy to be home, but also comes face to face with her former best friend, who blames her for him being left at the altar. With needing to start over, she is determined to fix their friendship and open a pottery studio. So when they end up at the same convention in Las Vegas, she sees her opening to fixing their friendship.

Waking up married was not part of her plan to fix said friendship. Agreeing to keep the marriage intact, definitely not part of the plan. As these two carry on their marriage of convenience, I loved watching them finally open up to each other. Cara gave a story of friends to enemies to lovers that kept me hooked. Cara knows how to write sweet romance, hot spice, and beautiful growth between these two. I fully enjoyed reading their story and can’t wait for more!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This was a good blend of things: sweet, spicy, emotional, accurate, romantic, honest, relatable. A second chance, small town, age gap, accidental Vegas marriage, with past traumas and lots of feelings involved, I really enjoyed this one, and I felt like they both really earned the relationship.

It does touch on some sensitive topics, but on the other side of the coin, it represents a common medical condition with truth and care. PCOS is something that has an estimated 70% of cases that go undiagnosed, so someone you know most certainly has dealt with this. It was truthfully portrayed, at least in my personal experience. I don't have it, but someone close to me does, and while it was hard to experience second-hand, I'm certain the reality is much more difficult than the parts I witnessed.

To counter the difficulty, the main female character falls into a fabulous friend group and has an amazing job, and they both help to lighten the story; it's not just about the PCOS - it's only a portion of the person, after all, and each of us is much more than our various diagnoses.

The spice is fantastic. There's tension, dirty talk, trust, piercings... all the best ingredients for the perfect physical relationship.

This story is definitely worth picking up, especially if forced proximity, friends to "enemies" to lovers, and ex-fiancee's little sister are tropes that appeal to you. I am happy to have read it, and I want to go back and read the earlier books in the series to find out how the other couples ended up coming together.

Thank you to the author and to Happily Booked PR for my gifted copy. I am voluntarily sharing my honest review.

This book was super easy to read, I made the mistake of reading this book first out of the series and I am glad it could be read as a stand-alone.

I really liked the two main characters for this book Sebastian and Sabrina. I liked how they both tried to lock up their feelings and just avoid one another. A tiny miscommunication had Sebastian angry with Sabrina which ruined their friendship all because of Sabrina's sister Holly.

Flash forward to 10 years later when both Baz and Sabrina moved on with their life and they run into each other again back in Aster Bay.

Sabrina has secretly pined over Sebastian for years even when they were friends and with some forced proximity they both soon realise that they both have a connection. This book was relatively fast paced but the plot made sense. I really liked how there was some parts of the book that had me laughing out loud with the characters or really rooting for their relationship to pan out. I also appreciated Sebastian's friend group that became family to Sabrina whose real family was a nightmare. Sabrina's aunt Lucy was one of my favourite characters who was always on Sabrina's side and hoping for her happiness.

Sabrina and Sebastian's relationship started off on the wrong foot, but I liked how it ended off as, with them both finally listened to their hearts and gave in. I appreciate how he stood up for her in front of her family that always tried to knock her down.

This book has plenty of spicy scenes as well which were great!

What happens when you go on a trip to Vegas with your ex-fiances little sister…well you wake up married to her. This book remind me of “What Happens in Vegas” but I think this book was way better than that movie. In my opinion the only con that I had with this book was that it was written in third person point of view. I would highly recommend this book if you love small town romance and marriage/relationship of convenience. Blurb below.

10 years of not knowing why his wedding never happened. 10 years of Sabrina assuming the responsibility of ruining Sebastian's wedding with her sister. What was a solid friendship was ruined because of someone not being able to be accountable for their actions. Sabrina and Sebastian are coerced into attending a merchants meeting in Vegas for a couple of days. Trying to ignore and miss each other while there (because they are sharing one room) leads to the last night where clearing the air needs to happen. Sabrina wants to settle down in Aster Bay and open her own spin on pottery classes and being on friendly terms with Sebastian can help her settle down and speed up the approval of permits. Clearing the air and drinks leads to many posts on instagram to make her sister jealous. They wake up to wedding bands and fragments of what happened the previous night. Apparently what happens in Vegas does not necessarily stay in Vegas. What you get from there on is meddling from the aunt and they are moved in. What starts off as a crazy decision leads to actually developing and building on the trust and relationship they lost 10 years ago. Sabrina gets to really feel what it is like to have someone prioritize you and that is something she has never had before. First Comes Marriage is the third book in the Aster Bay series but can be read as a standalone. I just completely swooned over Sebastian. He is so caring, says all the right things and just makes Sabrina feel like she is important. The dynamic between the two is playful, steamy and caring.

Tropes: Fake relationship, forbidden romance, grumpy/sunshine, woke up married, forced proximity, one bed, enemies to lovers, age gap, small town

10 years ago Baz was left at the altar by Sabrina’s sister Holly because despite her friendship with Baz, Sabrina convinced her sister to call off the wedding. During that time Baz has become a successful accountant, still living in the town of Aster Bay, and still hating Sabrina for her betrayal. Sabrina has moved back to Aster Bay to start over after a devastating divorce where she gave up everything, including her successful pottery business. Except when they’re unknowingly paired up to go to a business conference in Vegas, they end up getting drunk and married.

First Comes Marriage is book three in an interconnected series, but it’s technically a standalone. However, I think it’s best to read the first two books first (I did not)

This book was so good, I read it in about two sittings. And man was it hot🥵🥵🥵. I’ll confess “woke up married” is one of my fave tropes, but most of the time the reasons that they stay married seem a little unrealistic. For Baz and Sabrina though, it was actually fairly realistic especially given the context of their relationship. The PCOS rep was great, and the dirty talk was perfection. That scene when she’s setting up her studio…woof.

This book is perfect for readers who love:
- Grumpy/sunshine
- Woke up married
- “My wife”
- Small towns
- Marriage of convenience
- Enemies to lovers

First Comes Marriage was an enjoyable, light read, though it didn’t exactly stand out among similar romance novels. The story had a fun, low-angst vibe that might appeal to readers looking for something breezy and drama-free, but for those who enjoy more emotional stakes, it may feel a bit too low-key.

The third-person point of view, while common in romance, was a bit confusing here due to frequent shifts that made it hard to know whose perspective we were in. It sometimes broke the flow, and if shifting third-person POVs aren’t your favorite, it might be worth keeping in mind before diving in.

The male main character, Baz, is written as being in his forties, though his actions and dialogue often didn’t reflect the maturity one might expect. Sabrina, the female main character, had some interesting family dynamics that were only lightly touched upon—I would have loved to see her parents and sister have a bigger impact on her journey and the plot overall.

Another factor was the miscommunication trope, which played a significant role here. Many misunderstandings felt like they could’ve been quickly resolved if Sabrina and Baz had just communicated openly, which made certain parts feel a bit forced.

Overall, First Comes Marriage was a solid, “mid” read, especially suited to those who enjoy low-angst romance. Thank you to Cara Dion and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

First Comes Marriage by Cara Dion

Sabrina Page is set on starting fresh in Aster Bay, far from her wealthy family and especially Sebastian, her sister’s ex-fiancé who thinks she’s the reason he was left at the altar. But fate (and a wild Vegas night) has other plans. After a few too many margaritas, Sabrina and Sebastian wake up married and tied in ways they never expected.

Sebastian’s the grumpy hero we can’t help but love, and Sabrina’s chaotic yet endearing personality makes their dynamic so engaging. The fake marriage arrangement to help Sabrina get her business off the ground and get her health insurance only fuels the chemistry between them, turning every interaction into a simmering tension that’s hard to ignore.

The representation of PCOS and infertility is handled thoughtfully, adding depth to Sabrina’s character. And the found family vibe from friends, Aunt Lucy, and the trivia ladies adds warmth and charm to the story, especially with Sabrina’s own family being so toxic.

The spice level is perfect —Sebastian brings the heat in every scene. But the miscommunication trope is strong here, making you want to shake both characters at times. Despite that, the journey to their HEA is sweet and satisfying. If you're into grumpy-sunshine dynamics, small-town romances, and a touch of drama, this book is for you.

Tropes:
-sister’s ex-fiance
-3rd person POV
-older MMCs (30s/40s)
-small town
-accidental Vegas wedding
-found family
-family drama
-my wife
-exhibitionism
-grumpy x sunshine

I never know if I will adore a contemporary romance book or like it because, let’s face it, it is hard to write a bad, fluffy romance. I am generally entertained as long as they get their HEA in the end. So when I read a new author and they surprise me with a book that will linger and make me want to read more, I get excited. This was one of those books.

I love how Cara branched out with this whole series and used older MCs. There is an age gap, but the FMC is in her 30s. She also touches topics not typically addressed in books, like PCOS and infertility issues*. PCOS is a big part of Sabrina’s story; it isn’t just a side thing mentioned once.

Sabrina returns to the small town where her aunt resides after a nasty divorce to try and start over. Even though the town harbors her sister’s ex, who hates her and blames her for their break-up. After being sent to Vegas for a conference together, alcohol becomes involved in decision-making, and they wake up married. The accidental marriage becomes a marriage of convenience, and they fight the tension to be together from there.

I know this sounds like any other Vegas wedding book, but I promise it isn’t. There is so much more to these characters. The healing Sebastian and Sabrina do together is beautiful. Sebastian is a grumpy cinnamon roll. He tries to pretend he doesn’t feel, but he shows his true colors when he starts being overprotective and doing everything he can to make Sabrina happy.

I can’t recommend this book enough. I loved it so much. It is available now on KU.

Quotes:
Now pull up that dress and show me what’s mine, wife.

Tell me what you need, wildflower, and I’ll give it to you.

She’s my wife. I don’t think I ever want her to be anything less than that.

*Infertility is a small part of the story. PCOS is the main focus. While I know these can go hand in hand, just keep that in mind if it is a trigger warning for you.

Soooo gooood

This is my first book by this author and I am so glad I read it. It is book 3 but is a standalone so you don't have to read the other booms first. There is mentions of the characters from the first two books though so I will be going back and reading them.

This is Sebastian's and Sabrina's story. Sebastian is the person in a dunk tank when he sees Sabrina across the way. He is not happy to see her and has not seen her in ten years when he ruined his wedding to her sister. The wedding was called off and Sabrina's sister said it was Sabrina's fault.

Sabrina is happy to be back in Aster Bay staying with her aunt. She's always lovef visiting there even though she is there for some terrible reasons. She sees Sebastian and us nervous but also happy to see him because she was friends with him and even had a crush on him. She did what she felt she had to do that day ten years ago even if he hated her for it.

When Sabrina and Sebastian both go to Vegas for a city thing, they are both surprised to see the other. Some things happen in Vegas and it doesn't always stay in Vegas.

Don't want to give anymore away but definitely read this slow burn with spicy scenes book. Will Sebastian find out the truth from Sabrina? Will Sabrina be able to give pieces of herself away again? Read this to find out!

"First Comes Marriage" is a delightful read that blends the charm of a small town setting with a spicy, marriage-of-convenience romance. The story shines brightest in its character development, particularly the complex and compelling relationship between Sabrina and Baz.

the sotry immediately captivating the reader and immersing them in Sabrina and Baz's love story. Sabrina herself is a vibrant and entertaining character, that hides deep scars and insicurity behind her bubbly personality. Baz, on the other hand, proves to be a frustrating yet intriguing character. His stubbornness and denial had me frequently scoffing at the page, desperately hoping he'd finally recognize hsi feelings.

I loved the authentic representation of PCOS, it added an important layer of realism and relatability to Sabrina's character. As a PCOS Girly, I felt Sabrina's pain and insicuritis about the future as mines.

I belive "First Comes Marriage" is a must-read for fans of small-town romances with a spicy twist. The characters are well-developed, the plot keeps you turning pages, and the overall experience is both heartwarming and thrilling. It's a book that celebrates overcoming obstacles and finding love in the most unexpected places, making it a truly satisfying and enjoyable read.

Loved this one so much! I read this in less than 24 hours because I was just eating this one up! Sebastian (MMC) hates Sabrina (FMC) because he believes her to be the reason that his ex fiance (Sabrina's sister) left him at the altar. When he sees her after a decade back in his hometown he's attracted to her but is still upset to see her there. However, when they end up stuck in Vegas for a conference she is able to finally tell him the truth and after too many drinks and them trying to make her sister jealous they end up married! Due to their families in the town being happy for them they decide to fake it until they can get an annulment but Sebastian soon discovers Sabrina's lack of health insurance and that she suffers from PCOS so they agree to stay together longer as they live together and spend more time together things really heat up and there is so much tension! This was so good and I need to catch up and read the first two books before this because I really enjoyed all the characters!

What to expect:
💐 Woke up married
💙 Ex-fiance's little sister
💐 Fake relationship
💙 Small town
💐 Grumpy hero
💙 Found family
💐 Forced proximity
💙 Heroine with PCOS
💐 “My wife”

So let me start by saying I did not read the first two books in the series, mostly because I didn't do my research and didn't realize it was even in a series! But having said that, I was not lost at all. Cara gave little refreshers as to who everyone was so I didn't feel like I missed out on anything (even though I've already went back and downloaded both books to read!) Now about this book... I absolutely adored it. I could not put this book down at all. I didn't know how to feel about the ex-fiancé's sister but it was done perfectly! And the pure chemistry between these two was boiling!! After a drunken Vegas wedding they find themselves in a predicament they don't really want to get out of. Sabrina needs his health insurance until her new pottery shop is up and running. Her parents have never truly been supportive of her, only demanding. But Sebastian swoops in, fake husband and all, and makes sure her family knows they will no longer be belittling or criticizing while he's around. And he plans to stick around. Watching these two realize their feelings for one another while already being married was heartwarming. I loved everything about this book. Cara has a new fan for life!! I could go on and on about this book but I don't want to spoil all the fun for you!

🃏Coming soon, November 8!🃏

During the Aster Bay community festival,
Baz is reunited with his ex-fiancé’s sister, Sabrina. The two haven’t seen each other since Holly left Baz at the alter. Sabrina is back in town since her own divorce, trying to start over and build her business.

During a small business conference in Las Vegas, Sabrina comes clean to Baz about what really happened before the wedding and after a few too many margaritas, wedding bells ring.

First Comes Marriage is a small town, marriage of convenience, spicy romance. The book contains PCOS representation and two main characters with a complicated path to overcome.

I really enjoyed the backstory between these two. Even without a ton of flashbacks to their initial friendship, I felt the connection between these two.

The plot moves very quickly and I was immediately invested in their love story. Sabrina was such a fun character to read. Baz had me scoffing at the page, hoping he would wake up and see how right thing could be with Sabrina ❤️.

Thank you to Cara Dion and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

Sebastian has hated Sabrina ever since she convinced her sister, Holly, to leave him at the altar. Ten years has passed by and Sabrina has moved back to Aster Bay to live with her great aunt, Lucy.

With both of them representing Aster Bay at a convention in Las Vegas, Sabrina finally reveals the truth behind what happened on the wedding day. That breaks down the barrier between them. Add on many, many margaritas, and they end up married in Vegas!

I loved it when Sebastian defended Sabrina from her toxic mother. All those “my wife” scenes were also so hot! Regardless of how their wedding happened, the forced proximity it led to was the best thing ever for this couple.

As they spend more time together, the lines get blurred and the marriage becomes more and more “real”. Can they both overcome their fears to give their marriage a real chance to succeed? Read this to find out.

Besides the romance, I loved how welcoming the ladies were to Sabrina. The found family vibe is so alive here! I wished that there was more closure on the “murals” discussion though as it felt like it was left hanging in the air.

I enjoyed the spin on “waking up married in Vegas” trope. This read was fast paced, had delightful characters and was deliciously spicy. This book is a standalone but I do encourage you to check out the previous books in the series because the characters do make appearances. If you’re looking for an enjoyable spicy small town read, this book is for you. Can’t wait to book my clay date with Sabrina in Aster Bay.

I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.

Fun read. Want to go to a break-up smash party now (but for someone else because, I do love my hubby).
Sabrina Page was the last person Sebastian (Baz) Graham wanted to see after she helped destroy his wedding with having her sister call it off with him 10 years ago. But she is back, and even though he makes it clear his feelings or lack there of, they find themselves in a predicament.
After she was finally able to explain her side of the situation, they decide to make her sister Holly jealous, and after too many margaritas and scotch, find themselves accidentally married. They decide to stay married in name only, until Sabrina's business takes off so she can get her own health insurance, but that's it, just in name only.
But life has a funny way of throwing curveballs at these two. She always had a crush on Baz, and for Baz, the scrawny teenager he knew turned into the woman of his dreams. But it's supposed to be a marriage in name only, they aren't supposed to catch feelings for each other.
I did enjoy this. I didn't read the other two yet, but can be a standalone. All three have an age gap troupe. This is a smaller age difference (12 or so years), but still sweet.

This was fast paced and fun to read but it definitely had some emotion to it as well. This does deal with a difficult but real topic for women that could be triggering. The spice was open door and explicit, and all the scenes were different. This book is very sex positive! Sebastian has a hell of a mouth on him, it was enough to have me hot and bothered. Plus he was one of those men that loved saying my wife and stood up for her against anybody who spoke badly, which I adored. Sabrina was used to being talked down to and being pushed away so she had her guard up a lot. I loved her pottery studio and the parties she hosted, plus the special something her and Sebastian made together.
Even though there was a difficult topic mentioned, the book wasn't very deep or heavy. I like the taboo relationship theme this series has and also that you don't have to catch up on the series to read any of the books. The couple did have a few communication issues but there was no third act break up. I also like how the side characters were there to help but didn't take over the storyline.

4.5/5 ⭐️

This was such a great fast paced, emotional, angsty, small town book. I loved Sebastian and Sabrina!! Their push and pull was so good.

Sebastian was led to believe a lie for 10 years, which led to strong negative feelings against Sabrina. After realizing the truth, feelings developed, even though they both fought against them to protect themselves. There were so many times I wanted to shake the both of them 😂

Sabrina was way too good for her family and Sebastian made sure they knew it. I loved how he had no issues standing up for her against everyone. I loved Sebastian’s friend group and how quickly they embraced and accepted Sabrina into it.

As someone who struggles with endometriosis, I am incredibly thankful for the way the view on PCOS and treatments was done. The “it’s just a Monday” hit so close to home with the amount of pain and discomfort this disease causes. Sebastian was so

Favorite Quotes:

“Crying wouldn’t help. But tequila might.”

Baz was engaged to my sister. And Sebastian… is mine.”

“I don’t think we’re cut out for temporary”
