Rate this book
From award-winning author Lyn Cote—a powerful conclusion to the Lone Star Courage saga of courage, faith, and enduring love.

No one has ever been on Anna’s side. Will that change in Texas?

In 1846, young widow Anna Bauer survives the grueling voyage from Germany to begin a new life in the promised land of Texas. Forced by circumstance into servitude, she’s determined to escape her harsh master and claim her freedom. But how can a single woman face the dangers of the frontier alone?

Texas Ranger Carson Quinn is charged with leading Anna’s party of German immigrants through Comanche territory to the Hill Country. Drawn to her quiet strength, he watches Anna endure both physical and emotional trials with courage and grace. Determined to protect her, he vows to see her safely through the wilderness.

But another war looms. Mexico refuses to accept U.S. annexation of the young Texas Republic without a fight. Though honor-bound to defend Texas, Carson longs to lay down his rifle and build a peaceful life—with Anna at his side. Yet as American troops march south, she watches the man she loves torn between duty and the promise of a new beginning.

Will the tide of history keep them apart—or will love find a way through war’s storm?

Once more, the Quinn family takes up arms in the cause of freedom.
Trusting His Love, book three in the Lone Star Courage series, brings the Quinn saga to a stirring conclusion of courage, faith, and love tested on the Texas frontier.

Lyn grew up loving books. Her favorite night of the week was Friday night, when the Bookmobile came to her neighborhood in Illinois. She’d spend those two hours chatting with the driver of the Bookmobile and the librarian and making the big decision of the week — which books to check out! In those distant days, children were limited in how many books they could check out. Lyn could only take home six a week — and there were so many to choose from. Her favorites were Cotton in my Sack by Lois Lenski, The Little House series and the One of a Kind Family series. Later, she discovered Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances!
This love of books led to a desire to write. Lyn won prizes in high school and college for her poetry and, not surprisingly, Lyn became a history and English teacher. When she became a mother, she gave up teaching, and while raising a son and a daughter, she began working on her first novel. Then she wrote her second and third. Long years of rejection followed — as it does for most writers. Finally in 1997, Lyn got "the call." Her first book, Never Alone, was chosen to appear in the first year of the new Love Inspired line. Lyn has written many articles on writing and the emerging Christian Booksellers Assoc. (CBA) fiction market. In 2006, Lyn's book, Chloe, is a finalist for the RWA's RITA, the highest award in the romance genre in the inspirational category.
Now, Lyn spends her days writing books that show the power of divine as well as human love. Her nest is empty and she and her real life hero, her husband, have more and more time to spend together in their home on a lake in the lovely northwoods. And books are still dear to her heart.

A gripping novel of Texas history

This conclusion of the series was action packed and heart-pounding. It accurately portrays life on the frontier. The men and women who forged the path across the country understood the sacrifice and hardships of this life and they willingly paid the cost.

An honor-bound Texas Ranger, Carson’s heart longed for peace but all that he finds was war and suffering. Anna wanted to belong and be loved, but only found rejection and loneliness. Their lives change when their paths cross, but they still face many unexpected challenges at every turn. Just when the sun starts to shine, the clouds roll back in. They do get a wonderful future and find peace in each other and their God.

I enjoyed the series. I’m a little sad to leave the Quinn family and their friends. Definitely worth the time spent reading. I received a complimentary copy and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

Trusting His Love by Lyn Cote
Lone Star Courage Series Book Three
Texas Ranger Carson Quinn just wanted to rest, but it wasn’t to be. A group of German immigrants need to get to their land. As a Ranger, he is to look after the people, all people, of Texas. So he takes them. And he’s taken with a young widow in the group. There is little time for romance between constant unrest and wars, though.
Anna Wolffe had to work to be able to come on this voyage. Her mistress is kind, but her husband is mean. The handsome Ranger saved Anna from the man, and his kind family took her under their wing. Treating her as an equal and not a servant. It’s hard for her to get used to freedom. And to be cared about. Something her parents never did, nor the man she was forced to marry.
As history happens throughout the story, so does love. I enjoyed this series and the true history that’s woven into it.

Trusting His Love is Book 3 in Lyn Cote's Lone Star Courage series with a page turning plot and a believable resolution. As a German American retired German and American Literature teacher, I understand the grueling voyage of European immigrants and history of Westward Expansion. I also am aware that Texas has a large German population, German male chauvinism and servitude, and the role of Texas Rangers. Anna and Carson are relatable well developed characters.

While I enjoyed learning about Comanche territory to their Hill Country and the US annexation of Texas Republic from Mexico, my PET PEEVE was the inaccurate and inconsistent German throughout the story. Especially with Google translate at ones finger tips. "Indianer" is the German word for "Native American". German nouns are capitalized - some were and some weren't.

I loved this historical story! It pulls you right into the argument of what is actually the border with Mexico. Carson is a Texas Ranger and he takes his job of protecting very seriously. He leads a group of German immigrants on a difficult journey to their new land. As they travel, he gets to know a little about Anna and keeps a protective eye on her. This story gave me more history of the war than I learned in school and this was a delightful way to learn more!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Trusting his love

Carson was a Texas Ranger, so justice and protecting others was part of his character. When he came across a group of German immigrants desperately in need of help, he offers to lead them to their new land - a difficult journey of weeks. Anna is a servant, and when her master tried to take advantage of her, he intervened an Anna ends up living with his family. War however called all the Rangers to fight. I really appreciated the historical accuracy of the battles, and how it showed that while you need to stand up for right, war is itself horribly violent.

I have enjoyed all of these historical stories. This one involves a German woman coming to America and landing in Texas. What a different life Texas has for this immigrant. But she is a strong woman and up to the challenge. I received a free copy. I choose to write this review.

This is an amazing series that I couldn't put down. This story was exciting, romantic, and packed with actual historical facts. I never knew all that took place to free Texas from the Mexicans and that criminal, Poncho Villa. Author, Lyn Cote takes real historical issues and explains them in the "historical notes" at the end of each story. I feel very "educated" by Lyn's stories.

Again, I didn't know all the things about Texas history. So, not only did I get a great history lesson, I got a fantastic read as well.
It was a great way to end this series. I sure do love the Quinns.

This has been a heart rendering series. The author did an amazing job of making me feel a part of the story as well as the time period. Great descriptions but not so detailed that you get lost. Anna and Carson are a favorite couple of mine. Their journey physically and romantically is strenuous and full of complications. I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the book. The ending was amazing. Loved it.
