"Creativity has a way of finding you."

Did you know that Leading is the space between lines of text in graphic design, and is measured from the baseline of one line to the baseline of the line above it?

It got its name from the Gutenberg Press. Printers used thin strips of lead between the lines of type to create spacing. = Leading (line spacing)

A unique read

A fiction book that is mostly educational and fun non-fiction. How so?

It teaches with great detail the basics and influences of graphic design, as a language of art and creativity. With a focus on four great graphic design artists (masters of creativity, storytelling, and innovation) the author reimagines powerful relics that after being stolen will jeopardize the safety of Draco, Lumi, and Arka's world. This is also a world of dragons with a modern twist making it very relatable. the three young Dragonlets will join a graphic design company for the summer after a successful golden ratio interview. But, they are also undercover to solve a mystery as the chosen ones. Their boss, a silver dragon by the name of Ms Celestia is more than they think. Who is stealing the relics and who is erasing the memory of knowledge and creativity? Join these three dragonlet heroes for an adventure filled with knowledge.

Has awesome detailed information and theory (along the story) but also has extra pages at the end. The three dragonlets are dragons yes, but they act very much like us readers (humans). We can relate to their interests and troubles.

The book includes also 3 major projects for the readers to create and share with the author.

The author dedicates this book to his daughter who was creative and a beautiful artist. She passed this year.

What if you could unlock a mysteries through an epic adventure with dragons?

The Dragon Codex: Quest for the Relics of Design by David Block, is not your typical fantasy book. It blends magic and creativity in a way that makes learning about design as thrilling as a heroic quest.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves dragons, fantasy worlds, and the magic of creativity.

The highlight I loved about this book is how it seamlessly teaches design principles through an engaging storyline. The dragons’ journey to master the art of design feels both magical and inspiring, making it a perfect educational adventure.

The author has crafted a world where creativity is key to survival. Each chapter introduces new elements of design, and it never feels forced it's just part of the action. I found the writing to be clear, approachable, and exciting, making it a joy to follow the characters on their quest.

This book is a delightful read for anyone who enjoys creative storytelling with a purpose. I found it to be a refreshing mix of fantasy and real-world lessons, and I couldn't put it down. It’s also a great introduction to design concepts for young readers or anyone looking to tap into their creative side.

The writing is wonderfully balanced engaging and educational at the same time. The author’s ability to weave design lessons into a fantasy narrative is impressive, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

Overall, an imaginative and educational adventure.

Thank you to YABC and David Block for a copy of The Dragon Codex: Quest for the Relics of Design. I don't give away spoilers in my reviews.
I admittedly am not into much fantasy but I do love dragons. I wanted to make sure I read The Dragon Codex so I could figure out which member of my family would enjoy it most - and I am pretty sure there are now 3 that will!
The Dragonlets (child age dragons) are so cute and will appeal to my youngest cousin. I know his dad will love the lessons involved and his mom will love the adventure. Even though he's just four, I think he will enjoy the story as well.
