When her friend volunteers her pet photography services to the local animal shelter, Kiki Long finds herself partnered with a juvenile delinquent who is performing court-ordered community service.
Soon after, the girl is accused of setting fire to the home of a stuffy animal shelter board member. With the Sheriff’s Department stretched thin, Kiki is asked to not only document the crime scene but to ask around about the teenager who’s gone missing.
Kiki juggles her volunteer responsibilities and professional obligations while trying to put together a Thanksgiving dinner for the ragtag group she considers to be family.
What a nice novella by J,B. Lynn,’Thankful, Grateful. Busted’ wraps some loose ends from earlier book. Paige comes home from college for Thanksgiving and is adjusting to life without her dad. He embezzled lots of money from the city and everyone hates him and blames it all on his wife. Of course, Ki Ki had nothing to do with it. This book finds Ki Ki settled into her forensic photography job and enjoying her part time job taking pictures of pets. This is a feel good series with J.B. Lynn’s humor. Lots of fun. I recommend the 1st book just to get to know the characters.
Kiki really has a lot going on right now. Paige is home, work is busy, and Rachel has her volunteering at the animal shelter. This was a fun, heartwarming Kiki Long Mystery. She realizes just how thankful and grateful she is!
Thankful, Grateful. Busted fit perfectly in this series I am so excited about. While short, it more than did the job giving us time with our new friends, progressing the series, and offering a solid cozy mystery, I loved it.
Keen the renegade dog is the star of this story. But adding new characters to the group of friends, like Harry the homeless man of many tents, Happy Paige, the daughter, and Debbie, the manager of the animal shelter, makes the story more interesting, warmer. The sentimentality is forgivable. What reader won’t enjoy a story about a good Thanksgiving, especially in 2924?
another fun read in this series! I love the quirky characters and the fast paced story lines! Kiki is asked by the sheriff to help in the investigation of a missing girl since he is shorthanded. Lots of twists and turns and mayhem ensues. And it is Thanksgiving so Kiki is trying to get that organized along with family obligations. This is a real page turner and a must read!
Short visit to Kiki's "world" of photography, pets, and crime. A fundraiser with all volunteers leaving because of one caustic woman, arson, and the threat of death are all in a day's work. Wished it was longer, but I loved the story and characters human and animal. Lovely for Thanksgiving or anytime you need a pinch of gratitude!
