The Truth About Air & Water

Rate this book
They share an epic love, but one moment changes everything. A life together that seemed certain is shattered. One learns you never love the same way twice; the other learns what it means to come home. You only think you know how this love story goes, but do you really know how an epic love can end?

“There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice.”
-F. Scott Fitzgerald

She is living color, and I’ve been in a black-and-white world for far too long without her.
Powerful stuff. It surrounds me. I’ve felt it since I first arrived. The force field of her. The magnetism of her. The power she wields over me. I’m alive again because of her, like a dying plant that finally gets some water. I’ve got it bad for this girl.
Reality dawns.
The light comes through the darkness and shines on me.
She’s my water.

-Lincoln Presley

The truth is I breathe with him. He is my air. Raison d'être.

4 I'm emotionally exhausted Stars

You know what they say, don't you?
Everything comes together.
You know what I'm going to say, don't you?
Everything comes together and then falls apart.
But who's right? You ask.
I am.

When I finished This Much is True last year, I was emotionally wrung out. Katherine Owen has this incredible ability to reach with her words straight down your throat and to your heart. Then, like the sadist that she surely has to be, she squeezes that fucker and doesn't let it go until you're crying, screaming, and begging for mercy. Ask me how I survived that book, and fuck if I know. It was gut wrenching. And at the same time, that couple stayed with me. They never got out of my head. It's just one of those tumultuous love stories that you simply can't forget.
Beautiful things are like that, extraordinary one minute, gone the next.

So you can only imagine my reaction when Katherine told me that she will writing a second book for Linc and Tally (FYI the first books does contain a HEA). Suffice it to say I was equal parts excited and terrified as to what else the author can possibly put this couple through. Believe me when I tell you that she already put them through hell and back...twice over....then went back and ran them over with a mack truck...twice.

We are bound, somehow, her and I.

First, while you could technically read this as a standalone, I would advise against this. You really need to start from the very beginning with Linc and Tally. You'll understand and appreciate everything that they've been through that much more.

I was afraid that this book would be excessive, have unnecessary angst, drama, and quite frankly be too much. I can also tell you that I am now gladly eating my words. Because Tally and Linc absolutely needed this book, and I'm so happy that Katherine decided to write it. It's definitely not as intense or angsty as the first one, but don't let that fool you. It will still put you through the wringer emotionally.
It's just like they say. You've got your fingers in the dike preventing the dam from breaking, but it's only a matter of time before it does. That's how water works. That's the strength of water. You can't stop it.

The Truth About Air & Water finds Linc and Tally together, months after This Much is True ended. They're settling into their life together one step at a time and trying to plan their wedding. But nothing for this couple has ever been easy, and their road to marriage certainly isn't a smooth one. Actually, fuck that. It's a mount Everest fucking climb is what it is.

Linc is laser focused on his baseball career, while Tally is still dealing with the fallout from the gut wrenching news that she received after her attack in Moscow. They're trying to make things works, but sometimes even your best isn't enough. And sometimes life has other plans for you and doesn't ask whether or not you're strong enough to handle it.

I must hate him now. I love him and hate him at the same tie. I wield this newfound rage deep inside, so deep that no one sees it, but it's there growing and changing and getting stronger with every passing day.

What happens? Well, that my nosy friends, I definitely can't tell you. But what I can tell you, is that as tumultuous and volatile as this love story is, it's like a shipwreck

And just try to look away. I dare you.

If you're looking for a book that's filled with steam to offset the angst, keep looking. Katherine Owen doesn't give you that here. And the odd thing? I never found myself missing it.

I'll give you a moment to absorb that particular shock.

The fact is, this is such an emotional and poignant story that you will find yourself too absorbed in all their turmoil to care about anything else.

Your heart will bleed for this couple. You'll scream, you'll rage, you'll cry. And you sure as hell won't be able to set it down.
She is living color, and I’ve been in a black-and-white world for far too long without her.
Powerful stuff. It surrounds me. I’ve felt it since I first arrived. The forcefield of her. The magnetism of her. The power she wields over me. I’m alive again because of her, like a dying plant that finally gets some water. I’ve got it bad for this girl.
Reality dawns.
The light comes through the darkness and shines on me.
She’s my water.

That ending was just absolute perfection. It managed to bring a tear even to my cold and black little heart. If you like angsty, emotional, and at times even gut wrenching reads, this is an author that you need to become acquainted with. If even this self proclaimed smut slut can look past the fact that there's basically zero steam because I was so enraptured in the story, it really tells you something.

My only advise? Have lots of alcohol, tissues, and ice cream on hand. PMS has NOTHING on Katherine Owen.

4.5 - 5 ★'s

Soooo..."the middle book", I went into this thinking things have to be good at least for a while and that's what we get...for a very short while.

description

Something happens (of course) and Linc and Tally's lives are thrown into another tailspin but this one is a doozy. You see it coming but you just don't want it to be true. ugh.

But oh no, that's not all...not by a long shot. Katherine Owen doesn't just give you one big dramatic event per story, nope, she heaps them on you...packing them in until You. Can't. Take. It. Anymore. It's emotional trauma at its best.

I really wish I could write about all the events that happen...there's sooo many good ones but sooo many equally bad ones but suffix it to say that Linc and Tally are making progress and again, things end on a good note.

description

The question is....should you read the last book? I will tell you that IMO the first two books were the best and if you stop here , you will be happy and satisfied. However, if your curiosity won't leave you be...prepare yourself. If you think these first two books have trampled your heart. you haven't read anything yet!

~Arc provided by the author in exchange for honest review~

This review is posted on Way Too Hot Books.

"...The darkest hour has arrived..."

You might have thought you have seen it all from Tally & Linc in This Much Is True (Truth In Lies, #1), but you were wrong. You might have thought that this young couple has been through so much pain, lies, secrets and loss already that they more than deserved their HEA in the 1st book, but Katherine Owen says guess again and brings you The Truth About Air & Water, #2 where they face one of the biggest challenges so far in the way of their happiness- wedding or better say wedding preparations...gone terribly wrong.

"Marriage is a life-time commitment, not these one-day affair costing up to fifty grand where the world stops for a few hours, watches the two of you get photographed, and feed each other cake."

I was so excited when I got the arc, because I loved This Much Is True (Truth In Lies, #1)- My Review, but then I read the blurb and my first thought was: Katherine Owen, what did you do again? o_O Remembering the way the 1st book made me feel I braced myself for the emotional roller-coaster I felt is about to come and dived in, but the masochist in me knew that I'll probably love it.

Gripping, poignant & deeply emotional.

K. Owen is at it again people- breaking our hearts into little pieces and then excruciating slowly mending it together again. I became an emotional mess after only a couple of pages. We all know how stressful and exhausting wedding preparations are nowadays, but imagine how stressful it must be for a famous baseball player and ballerina whose every step of life is exposed and followed by the media eagerly waiting in every corner for them to make a wrong move in order to get their 5 minutes of fame. Add to that overbearing and "well-meaning" family and spokesmen who always know what's best for you and you have a recipe for a certain disaster. You just want to live your life and be free, but you can't, because it isn't only your own.

This story made me feel so many different things: melancholic, anxious, frustrated, perplexed, angry and then blissfully happy. It made me cry. It kept me awake the whole night. It was that good.

It is told again from both- Linc's & Tally's povs, through at times poetic and evocative writing what is one of the main reasons I liked it this much. In comparison to the first book where my feelings about Tally were complicated; at times I liked her and then, there were times I didn't, in this installation she won me over completely. Yes, she isn't quite the type of main character I usually prefer; she is a fighter deep down, but a little more flawed and insecure, but that is what made her more real in my eyes. Knowing her personality and background from the 1st book I could completely understand her insecurities and worries in this one.

No, the person who was mostly on my shit-list this time was Linc and his profession. He broke my heart with that little confession when they were talking with the priest at the beginning of the story and I saw that as the main trigger for the disaster that was about to come. But then again, in the end, he was the strongest one of the two of them when it came to their relationship. A rock on which Tally could always rely on when her insecurities and doubts hit, so he had also some of those redeemable & swoon-worthy moments, too.

Their story is not an easy story. It's complicated, frustrating, heart-breaking and touching and there's a lot of drama, but less than in the first book. A true masochist treat. And the ending??? Well, I loved it! That's all I'm going to say.

Highly recommended to fans of authors like Megan Hart, Tarryn Fisher etc. who have a weak spot for emotional reads.

Yes, this book could be read as a standalone, but still, I recommend starting from This Much Is True, #1. Only then will you truly be able to understand this imperfect, at times tragic, but above all epic love story.

Big thank you to the author for giving me an arc copy of this book! <3

"We are way past wicked.
We have passed up malicious and perhaps even evil.
We are in the midsts of Neverland with nothing of good in sight.
Rock bottom.
The darkest hour has arrived."

BEFORE READING:

Just read the blurb and knowing the heart-break the 1st book put me through...

But I'm a masochist reader, so I'll probably like it ;).

~UPDATE~

Finally!!!*happy sigh* Just like the 1st book- this story broke my heart to pieces and then mended it excruciatingly slowly, but I loved it! Review to come when I get some sleep...

This is the second book in the Truth In Lies series. I've written both This Much Is True and The Truth About Air & Water as standalones. Why?

Well, with This Much Is True, I wrote a book that is really two books in one, since I hate cliffhangers, and I thought I was done with Linc and Tally. This Much Is True became a bestseller on Amazon in September of 2013 and I've gained quite a few new rrrreeeaaadddd-uhs since then. The constant drumbeat for more of Linc and Tally became louder and the fact that these characters wouldn't leave me alone led me to this latest novel, The Truth About Air & Water which released August 24th, 2014, a whole year later.

Prolific, I am not. Mostly, because I am angsty writer and develop plot lines that do not follow somebody else's work beyond the boy meets girl theme. Secondly, back to why I wrote this a standalone, I rose to the challenge to write a storyline where new readers could start here and not be completely lost about Linc and Tally's love history. Clever, indeed.

But having said all of this, I would encourage readers to read This Much Is True first because so many readers are saying this very thing and there are many of you reading both novels straight through. Awesome!

And, as part of my gratitude and general enjoyment at seeing this phenomena, This Much Is True is on sale at an incredibly cheap price on Amazon so you can do so. Believe me, I appreciate readers spending a half day or so reading my stuff. Okay, a day. These are full-length novels and This Much Is True is incredibly long, but if you can find the place to cut TMIT down; you just let me know.

Onward. If you are familiar with my writing, you know I don't take it easy on readers. Like ever. So if you're looking for the happy trope with a weak heroine who falls for the bad boy and then the two proceed to have sex for the latter half of the novel on every page so that you actually grow tired of it all and start skipping pages, I'm not for you. If you like your fiction to dive deep and include more complex plot lines where you can actually experience the character arcs just by reading the story because you have actually been transported to their world, this book might be for you.

What I am most proud of with The Truth About Air & Water is I take Linc and Tally to a whole new level and really delve into the what if question: what happens next when you have everything?

Readers who've read my work, especially This Much Is True, are now holding their breaths. Ah!!!!! I hear you.

I don't want to give the plot away. And I thank my readers who have already read The Truth About Air & Water for not doing so either in their rave reviews for this one.

Let's just say when everything's perfect, KO comes along and shatters it.

As I tell all of my readers, prepare properly. Advil, wine, tissues, and perhaps an even stronger drug of your choice may be in order. And, as Lincoln Presley would say, "Do what you must, Princess."

Additionally, you cannot have a problem with the f-word because I don't. If you've checked all those boxes discussed above, read my work and enjoy the novel and hang on. Also, this has been coming up...do not start this novel right before you are planning to go to bed. You will be up all night reading. There is a point in the middle where you will not be able to put it down. Just sayin'. Epic, indeed.

Lastly, I love to hear from readers. If you need virtual hand holding while reading this one or the first (TMIT), send me a message. As some readers will attest, I am here for you. ♥

4 She did it to me again starz.

Thank you KO for the advanced readers copy of this book

Katherine Owen does NOT do Light and Fluffy. She does stab your heart and watch you slowly bleed to death. She stabs with these little pricks. She stabs with intent on making you reach down to hold your heart and in your hands and watch it beat out.

Tis true that this can be read as a Standalone. But don't do it. Don't do that to yourself. You would be missing the backstory, the angst and having your soul crushed. Get your soul crushed people! It is worth it in the end!!!!

TMIT shattered my soul. Living in a book where 96% of it is angst... Shatters your soul. I went into TMIT with no knowledge of the book or what was in store for me...

My GR updates scared some people away!

^^^^ see ^^^ Soul.Shattering.

So with that being said I was way more prepared for Tally and Linc this time around.

A different set of problems, coping mechanisms and ANGST ANGST ANGST out your eyes and ears and nose and throat.

Tally and Linc are like no 2 other characters. I can't compare them. And now a days when reading a M/F book makes me roll my eyes continuously, This... Them. Breathe of fresh air. It reminds me that there are some seriously amazing authors out there that love to sucker punch you right in the throat :). It's real. With most books you get to the HEA/HFN and are content because in your mind it all worked out and they walked hand in hand right into that rainbow with puppies weaving in and out of their feet. They had the 2.5 kids and the white picket fence.

Real life, sends obstacles...lots and lots of them and everyday in a marriage/relationship is a struggle. Everyday you wonder what if I just throw the towel down? What am I doing? You question every little thing. Everything.

I could understand Tally. Amazing how well I understood her.

I won't get into the specifics of the book but I will tell you after book 2, the uphill battle for these 2 looks as if it has finally come to an end. I LOVED the ending. Loved it. I cried happy happy tears as I lied in bed last night finishing this up.

KO~ You did it again. It was Epic

Dear Ms. Owen

I thought you couldn’t put me any more in the emotional spin cycle after what Linc and Tally went through in This Much Is True. I was so so so wrong. I began the book doing my happy dance because finally finally Linc and Tally are together and happy.

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf20mgNZy1s1hmbe_zpsc6c68d11.jpg "

This didn’t last long though. No I knew for some reason that we wouldn’t get a gooey sappy wedding story. That would be to good to be true. Than I thought well we are talking Tally. Tally who self destructs and doubts. And did she ever begin to…As she does I started to look like this
 photo tumblr_inline_ngf23aHvIX1s1hmbe_zpsb31a5bb7.jpg "

A wee bit frustrated with her. But really it was okay because Linc was there to talk her down. He always soothed her and told her he loved her. And Cara what a cutey patooty. So now we have Tally really putting my panties in a uproar when she is at the Promissory note and acting that way with Sam. That is until the moment that it all goes kablooey….The moment I ended up like this

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf26ym8r91s1hmbe_zps82cb941e.jpg "

Why? Why have that happen to Linc? He is the good guy and we all know Tally will not deal well. And there you did not disappoint. Tally became a wee bit selfish..What moment are we looking at? The brilliantly written area where Linc almost dies three times and than has forgotten 6 yrs of his life. Here I was

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf29sVMwJ1s1hmbe_zps07e913d2.jpg "

But when Tally just series shutdown and walked away. Okay yes his dad was a major douchecanoe and I was doing this

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf2f60SXs1s1hmbe_zps404bc927.jpg "

to him. So wanted to smack him. But no I said you will not go to the dark side you will not go to the dark side. You will not be tempted by the tasty treats of the dark side. And where do you go the dark side.. he tempted you

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf2l0psuZ1s1hmbe_zps9843fea7.png "

The dark path is not nice. Very very scary. Now we are in a emotional whirlwhind…

At Tally for walking away and saying she can’t take it. Not even thinking about what Linc is going through.

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf2nnuKFm1s1hmbe_zps651c992d.jpg "

To his publicist and relatives for giving such horrible advise to tally and listening to Linc’s dad. And to Linc

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf2outwOr1s1hmbe_zps5ecb9a4c.jpg "

He is in such limbo. Has headaches that cause him to overmedicate, frustrated because he can’t remember and is lost just lost and hanging by a thread. So no wonder he goes and does something stupid. Tally though should have listened and not jump off the handle. This makes everything more stressful.

Now Tally is angry, Linc is lost and scared trying to regain his life and control and we are just

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf2sw5n3L1s1hmbe_zps95af8180.jpg "

Now they are apart and Linc is in Fresno. Why? He was sent down to the minors. His whole life ripped apart. Why Ms. Owen why? I was just crushing the kleenex at this point and my emotions in the shredder and wait what was worse I was only half way through this addictive emotionally wringing book. It’s one train wreck after another. Tally isn’t talking to Linc and treating him with disdain, Linc is lost and trying to get something back in his life that resembles stability and just when there is a foothold of getting off the cliff….nope not happening..you little seductress to stability and a little happiness..aaannnnddddd no we have Linc’s stupid mistake come back to haunt us..And Tally just goes nuclear…..Now we the readers have to close our eyes and peak through fingers because we don’t want to see what she is going to do but we just can’t stop reading the train wreck she is going to cause…And what a wreck it is.Wowza…But she gets indecisive she sees Linc is a good guy and he also tells her he loves her…time to

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf321MBGj1s1hmbe_zps433a9835.jpg "

Nope not quite this you lure us with…you temptress should have known. I started to have hope aaand it’s gone whoosh…Tally gets stubborn and follows her plan. Crushing everyone in the process..Linc is just devastated and angry, she is just cold hearted and we are left in limbo again.

They go on and Linc who is just so precious follows this adage

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf35l6xsg1s1hmbe_zpsa1077ea4.jpg "

and he channels his anger, gets a plan a focus and persistently works towards his goal. His goal to get back to the majors and be near Tally again. He achieves it and meanwhile Tally is focusing on her career and becoming a stronger person. Losing her triggers..She realizes she made a mistake but is it too late??? Well…you seduce us in again…Linc is there, Tally is there but she is scared to talk…Suddenly Linc is angry again because Tally is playing games and holding back information. When it finally comes out its so amazing and wonderful you do this

 photo tumblr_inline_ngf3al2mVB1s1hmbe_zpse8c85a6e.jpg "

These two so belong together. Each step from the moment the book begins you bring us on a journey. A gut wrenching emotional spin cycle journey. You show us that love is fragile as are we and that at some point things may be to much. You show us that faith and trust is something needed to hold on to hope. That love is a strong tie and no matter what you go through the good, bad and in Tally and Linc’s case the really ugly you come out stronger and your love more beautiful and unconditional. You see forgiveness and hard work to obtain your life and love again. You go through this journey with Tally and Linc in these pages and fall in love with them all over again.

So even though I went through the emotional spin cycle and sometimes growled at you I wanted to say thank you.Thank you for creating such amazing characters. Flawed, emotionally stunted at times, but characters that have such love and devotion to their love even when they don’t know it. Thank you for writing such a beautiful book where we see people go through problems and try to deal with them. See where sometimes these problems strain not only themselves but their love for someone and that when the love is strong another you will come back together again. Thank you for having them need to find their way through hard work and thank you for making them learn what their love is for each other and the journey in them seeing what they mean to each others lives. Thank you for this beautifully crafted story and finally giving Tally and Linc everything in the end…

I received my copy of The Truth about Air & Water through the Goodreads First Reads program.

I read such a diverse selection of genres that sometimes my friends shake their heads and ask what it is that I really like to read. I don't have a favourite, I am looking for a connection to character. Romance, paranormal, historical fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy - the genre itself doesn't matter to me, the characters do. In searching for that special author that can invite me to crawl inside the head of their characters, leave me thinking about their characters even after I have put the book down, and later have me questioning reality, I am often disappointed. I have found that magical author, Katherine Owen.

Tally and Linc truly are EPIC as they themselves, and all their cohorts continually remind us. Is it fate? Is it a curse? The right place at the wrong time, the wrong place at the right time. Are they blessed, or meant to suffer? The course of true love never ran smooth ... is it better to have loved and lost .... all of those rhetorical questions, the meaning of life, love and universe, you name it, it is endless. I spend so much time rooting for these characters, questioning what my own responses would be if it were my husband. I cheered for Tally moving on, while at the same time crying because she just might actually move on. I cheered for Linc's miniscule progress, and berated him for not being more persistent with his "people".

This is a book that just needs to be experienced, to go through the motions with these characters, all of them. Even the secondary supporting characters make a huge impact. I truly don't want to give anything away about this book, so I will very carefully say that Tally and Linc have a very special connection, one that can't be understood by outsiders, and may not even be fully understood by themselves. Each is famous in their own right and deals with the spotlight, the media, the stress of career and the impact that has on their relationships. Each is surrounded by people who are well meaning in their desire to protect, insulate, and often smother for all the right reasons, which turns out to seem more like manipulation. Is a lie a lie if it is meant to protect? Having not read the first book, I wanted to know more about Moscow than was slowly being dribbled my way. I wanted to know more about the panic attacks, the baby, how Tally and Linc made it to the little church on the shore. I absolutely have to read the first book now, but was able to navigate this book without the former knowledge.

At first the author's writing style took a little getting used to. The constant reaffirmations, the internal dialogue, the repetition of some phrases, seemed annoying. Then I realized that was the way inside the characters' headspace, experience that moment of panic, the confusion right along with them.

Just read it! It is fantastic!

5+ FAN~FUCKIN'~TASTIC STARS

I don't even know what to say and believe me, I never shut up! I loved these two, Lincoln and Tally. The book hoe I am, added another piece of eye candy to my jar of goodies. And to my list of groan-worthy-ness. (I know, I know Lisa Love,;D) What a ride it has been right from the start of book #1. My opinion Katherine Owen is that you are brilliant! Such a page turner, wow! The angst was almost unbearable, well, more than that due to the breaks I had to take. How many obstacles must one face? I was torn to pieces and what they both did to each other. Oh God, did I say this is amazing?! Yeah, I'm running out of things to say because I just have no words.

SEE, EYE. CANDeeee!

I definitely have to read some more of this author because I just can't get enough! Then to boot, after many requests, she is going to do a book #3! Hell yes!

Tally & Linc have overcome a lot to get to where they are today. There has always been something standing in their way of a happily ever after, most of the time that barrier was themselves and their poor choices, their lies... but now just as things are as they should, it happens. Something that threatens to change it all. Turning their epic love into something that looks far more tragic. But when your body needs the other to survive, nothing seems too impossible to overcome.

Tally & Linc... where to begin. Let me first say that although these characters drove me insane in the first book, it wasn’t really them or their story. It was their choices. So much heartbreak was held in those pages, so much which could have been avoided. But not for these two. They made loving each other an almost impossible feat. But in TTAAW they have a new set of challenges and I found myself seeing signs of fight that were missing from the first book.

Tally grew so much during this story, although there were some moments where she reverted back to her old ways for a bit. In the end I think I saw a bit of fire in her that was needed. She wasn’t just going to sit back and allow life to happen to her this time. Even if her decisions were not ones that I agreed with, she still was the one making them. For Linc, there is not much I can say without giving too much away. So I’ll just say that I can’t find too much fault in him for his actions and decisions. They sort of weren’t really his. But I loved seeing the fight in him. Seeing what truly mattered most and going after it.

There was a moment in this story, early on that hooked me. I can’t tell you what that moment was because it was a big moment, one that shaped this story. What I can tell you is that it is one of those moments that is the cause of broken hearts. There was no doubt that the first book was heartbreaking, but there was just this wall that I kept hitting that didn’t allow me to feel those moments. With the second book, it was almost like all of those buried feelings came to the surface.

There is no doubt that their shared love was epic. That they fought like hell to get through the other side. A fight that did not leave them without scars. But I think what I enjoyed most was that my reaction to this part of their story was nearly the exact opposite of the start of their story. I wasn’t overcome with frustration, although it would have been a fitting reaction at times, but no, this time I was anxious to turn the page so that I would be one step closer to everything being made right.

In the end, TTAAW shows you that the heart falls in love and that the heart doesn’t forget that love, even if that beat falters at times. That sometimes you have to struggle to deserve the ending you desire. It’s not easy or clean. But if you want it badly enough you’ll never give up.

Katherine Owen did a wonderful job delivering on the sequel to this series. There were times that I thought about the directions this story could have went. How easy some plots could have been tossed in given the backstory of these two – but I loved that we didn’t get a recycled twist. She took the story in a new direction with new conflicts, ones that challenged these characters and ultimately watching them overcome those challenges are what allowed their story to penetrate my heart.

I left the first book feeling frustrated and unsure of how I felt. With book two, there was no doubt that I loved it. And although I am not sure if my heart could take another hurdle for these two, I am glad that there is a third story in this series to look forward to.

"I am broken by it all. Why doesn't everyone see that?"

Katherine Owen doesn't write books. She takes words and welds them together to create an experience that will last a lifetime.

When you sit down to read this book, you must prepare yourself for an epic love story that isn't perfect, but what love is?

Who are Tally and Linc to me? They are the most unlucky in love couples of all time. I remember almost a year ago, sitting in my house and reading This Much is True. That book broke me down to nothing, built me back up only to break me again. That is what KO is amazing at. At the end of that book I wanted more. I want them to have more of a happy ending.

But, this is KO we are talking about, she doesn't write fairy tales and I buy her books because of that very reason. I want to feel something when I read a book. I want to feel the character's pain and joy. I want to be broke and put back together.

That is exactly what Katherine Owen gave me with this book, but she also gave me so much more that and I didn't even expect it. I felt so much and my heart broke in to a million pieces all over again for these 2.

Tally, oh how I love you. You have had so much shit dealt to you and you still fight. You still try and move past it, but you get sucked into the depths of hell and who knows if you will ever make it out. How can you when the world is against you? But you fight and you scream and you tell everyone to FUCK OFF because you will not surrender. YOU WILL FIGHT.

Linc. You make me very proud. This is your book and you fucking nailed it. The growth, the maturity, the difference I see in you is monumental. I am in awe of the ways you changed and the responsibility. You manned the fuck up and you made mama proud. I couldn't be happier for you. But, you did screw up royally, but all is forgiven because who could blame you? NOT ME.

"I cover my head with my arm to try and stem the pain, wishing for painkillers, wishing Tally was a narcotic that I could swallow down and have live inside me forever"

This books is full of lines that take you by the soul and rock you to the core. They make you want rip your heart out and have it crushed just so you can experience what she is writing about, because it is that real.

Deep love isn't something you can walk away from. It isn't something that is easy. But it is something that can fought for and won.

This Much is True is one of my favorite books that I will tell everyone I come across to read for the rest of my life.

But the writing, the character ARC, the depth in this novel, make The Truth about Air and Water crush TMIT like an ant.

Bravo Katherine Owen, you nailed this book to the ground and have strengthened my belief in your writing.

What has drawn me to Katherine Owens writing? Initially it was that I never saw what was coming next--when so many novels follow a similar "recipe", I thought hers was different. And in doing this, she often created that moment when I sit up in bed and in my head yell, "WHAT?!?" But as I devoured her novels, I realized it was the depth of her characters. Very rarely have I read (and I'm a huge book geek) novels that leave me feeling so much like I KNOW THESE PEOPLE. I waited eagerly for The Truth About Air and Water ---I hadn't heard from my friends Tally and Linc in a while--- and I was not disappointed. I wanted to stay up all night and read the whole thing in one sitting, but like a gourmet chocolate, I forced myself to take a bite and savor it, set it down for a bit and then savor another bite...other times I'd re-read parts and revel in the exquisite way Katherine captures emotions and feelings, thinking to myself, "yes! That's exactly it!" And then sometimes I couldn't help myself and binged on chapter after chapter after chapter...but then realized the end was near and slowed down, trying to make it last... So while her recipes resemble the tried and true, the ingredients are delicacies that will make it tough to enjoy the ordinary while waiting for her next novel.

EPIC, the only word needed to describe this book and this love story!!

Tally and Linc are at it again! I loved that Linc's troubles were not as tragic as Tally's, still hard to take at moments but still EPIC and heartbreaking. How much will you go through to reclaim the love of your life?? Katherine Owen has another hit on her hands. It was beautiful, scary, heart breaking, healing, and if you are ready to take a chance at free falling then this is a must read book!!

Second time reading so I could read the entire series as one!!! This book SHOULD NOT be read without reading book 1, EVER!!!! You will miss out on soooo much history of this couple if you just jump in with this book.

Second time reading: still all the feels. One of my all time favorite love stories. The writing is EPIC.

Have you ever read a book that touched you so deep that you were consumed with the story and characters long after you finished? That's where I'm at now. I have a major book hangover and I'm not sure how to start another book as I feel like no other would compare.
My full review will appear on Bookish at the end of October.0

WHAT!! There is a 2nd book?! Why yes there is… You know Ms. Owens couldn’t leave that HEA alone..
She went ahead and created a 2nd book that makes your heart melt! Okay grab the tissue, send the kids away because girl.. your gonna be up ALL night!

This is a stand alone novel, but trust me when I say read the 1st book! Actually, I insist you read it right now, because what you were handed was nothing
Short of having an emotional melt down.

*****DON’T READ IF YOU HAVENT READ BOOK 1****

“You know what they say about air and water when it comes to fire, don’t you?” she asks.
Now, I’m curious. She hasn’t spoken for the last ten minutes of the drive. “What?”
“Too much air blows out the fire. Too much water destroys it.”
I nod trying to determine what she’s really comparing us to. “The idea would be to keep the flame going, right. For years?” She nods. “Like a relationship. Like a marriage.” She cringes at the word marriage. Noted. “So you need the air—to stay constant—to fan the flames of the fire, and you know, grasshopper,” I smile at her and catch sight of the corners of her mouth turning slightly upward in response to the endearment, “a hot enough fire will burn water, so you have to be careful with the water too.”
“That I do know,” she says softly. “So that’s the truth about air and water.” She sighs deep.
“Which is?”
“It’s hard to maintain the balance to keep the fire going. You have to fan the flames without putting it out with too much water. But too little water will burn the fire right up. Too much fire. Too much destruction. We’re out of control.”
“You’re talking in circles,” I say.
“No. That’s us,” she says with certainty.”

Tally and Lincoln found there happily ever after in the ending of book 1, and I jumped for joy because finally they agreed to stop fighting the love they both need and share.
However, in book 2 takes to limits of unmistakable anger for Lincoln. Baseball. That’s all that matters right?! Not Tally, and her needs. Just Baseball.
But what baseball left him was let’s see what’s the right words? A Line DRIVE?! … you can say that times 100!. There was some points in the story, where I wanted to feel sorry for him and smack Tally and tell her seriously .. stop with the poor me, because you can’t really blame him, but then you have to think about what would you do if you were no longer a memory?! …

The ending was epic! LOVE IT!

Welcome To Ours

What I loved about this book is that even thou you had the angst, and sadness and the mystery- you still go the point of falling love over again. You can still sit there and sigh and wonder wow… what a great story. I can say that this book will stay with me for a while and may be one of those ones that I re-read a few times.

Oh my days Katherine Owen knows how to put a reader and their emotions through the wringer and then some, 10% into this book the tears started and my heart was just shattered over and over. I loved the first book in this series and anxiously wanted to know how Talia and Lincoln have faired after finally beating the odds and getting together despite their tumultuous past. Katherine states she feels this book can be read as a standalone from book 1 and I have to say I disagree, I feel to truly understand the characters in book 2 you have to have read book 1. And above all I feel it is an injustice to this brilliant ,tragic but beautiful story to not read book 1.
We find Talia still unsure of herself and so inevitably still unsure of her relationship with Lincoln. She doubts herself as a mother to the still mute Cara. And I was so downbeat to find that despite finally getting together with Lincoln they were still allowing their careers to take presidence over their relationship. And once again we find Tally still letting people run roughshot over her. I was so angry for her.
Despite all this we find Talia and Lincoln planning a wedding, I say "a wedding" because it is not the affair either of them want and once again Lincoln's meddling Dad and Baseball are calling the shots. Lincoln finally sees what Talia needs and they agree to do things their way, I was so happy that at last they are going to be together. Only for fate to once again throw their lives into turmoil and my heart was dragged out and pummeled by the author.
I really don't want to post any spoilers as to how this part of the story plays out but my heart was just broken for both Tally and Linc. I couldn't put the book down because I was so involved with the story, it was a one sitting read. I was screaming at Tally to fight back and not allow herself to be pushed out again. I was shouting at Linc to push back harder even though it wasn't his fault. I was shouting at the other characters to help them fight back. I was exhausted from the energy this story took to read. I have to say even though it was tragic to see Talia break down completely, it was also hilarious when she finally checked into crazytown and just went off.
I was so happy with the eventual outcome of the book and honestly I don't think any characters in a book have had me so anxious for a HEA. Please Katherine let them enjoy it, they have earned it.

*takes a deep breath* Ok, I knew that I was going to love this because I loved the first one and I remember that that one was intense but not so intense...or maybe I feel that because I read it last year. I feel so many emototions now that I don't know what to do with myself. I think for a few hour or days I still be in the book with the characters.

Tally and Lincoln are such beautiful and complexe people, and I want to hug them tight because they had a huge and full of obstacles road until they found happyness. Everytime I enjoy reading about people and not characters, and with this book I felt like I was staying with some good friends. Plus the writing style is so beautiful and you feel so many things even you're beyond full...

I, I can't find my words. Can I just say that I loved it and that I want to read it again, so you know how much I liked it? This book/series is so amazingly good, speaking of characters, action, plot, emotions, feelings, a total rollercoaster that you want to end faster because you're dizzy, from all the feelings and events, but you want to last longer because you can't let the characters go.

Such a beautiful and warm, and well written and powerful, read that deserves to be read by so many people. I highly recommend you to pick this series up if you haven't already!

I loved this book. I thought the original book could not be improved upon, but boy was I wrong! I so enjoyed following their continued story and living thru another angst filled book. I loved the banter between the two of them and liked being able to see things thru both of their eyes. Katherine, you did it proud!

The Truth About Air & Water is an excellent read. I had intended to read This Much Is True first but wasn’t able to work it into my schedule and I’m kind of glad. I don’t know that I would have survived the book hangover had I read both books back-to-back. I was so emotionally drained after finishing this book that I had to sleep on it before I could write my review. The Truth About Air & Water is a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions.

*****ALERT – POTENTIAL SPOILER AHEAD*****

Not having read the first book, I wasn’t privy to all of the obstacles that Tally and Lincoln dealt with in their journey together and apparently there were a lot of them. Because of the POTENTIAL SPOILER I am about to mention, Ms. Owen sets up the storyline of the second book in such a way that you don’t have to know them all because we get to learn them as we accompany Lincoln during his path to recovery. The beginning of the book gives those new to a series a glimpse into Lincoln and Tally’s relationship and a few of the pitfalls they encountered via an interview with a sports reporter. I was sucked into their story immediately and devoured the book. This is a couple that has endured a LOT, yet apparently not enough for the universe because while pitching a televised game, Lincoln is hit with a baseball and suffers a major head injury. As Tally was watching at the time, she and her friends and family waste no time in getting to the hospital. Unbeknownst to their friends and family, Lincoln had convinced Tally to elope with him later that day and that he maintained consciousness long enough to inform medical staff was the only reason they informed her of his health status. Despite a positive prognosis, Lincoln takes a turn for the worst and is in a coma for almost two weeks. When he finally emerges from it, he has lost the past six years’ worth of memories, including who Tally is and the existence of his daughter Cara. Without a doubt, this is devastating for Tally and gives Lincoln’s father, Davis, the opportunity he needs to excise Tally from his son’s life. Although Tally suspected that Davis didn’t like her, she never expected him to do what he did. I was devastated for her on so many fronts. But the hits just keep on coming for Tally as she has to deal with Davis’s accusations, Lincoln’s memory loss, being a single mother, maintaining her career as a ballerina, and everything else that life sees fit to throw at her that I cannot mention because I’ve used up my one spoiler pass. Theirs is a story full of love, hate, betrayal, heartbreak, pain, pleasure, devastation, hope and happiness.

*****END OF SPOILERS*****

Lincoln and Tally are a fascinating and addictive couple – addictive to one another and to me. I devoured this book. As I learned about their past during Lincoln’s recovery it was clear why they kept moving forward despite the numerous times life threw them a curve ball. Their chemistry is so intense and it’s easy to understand why Lincoln considers Tally his water and she considers him her air. They are it for one another – soul mates. I do plan to go back and read This Much Is True because I am addicted to this couple and now need to know the full depth of their past and their journey. Of course I will have to wait until I know I have time to recover from it, because I have no doubt that it will indeed be a book hangover like I’ve never experienced before when I read these two books together. Ms. Owen has found a new fan and I can only hope that her muses inspire her to give us another book in this series as I would love to see what else life has in store for Lincoln and Tally.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

NOTE: I received this book as a part of the blog tour organized by Xpresso Book Tours.

To be quite honest, I dreaded picking up The Truth. Why? Well, I read and loved the prequel. It was amazing. So, just like any sane reader, I feared that The Truth could turn out to be inferior. Meet my surprised face when I devoured the book in equal doses of tears and laughter, with a pinch of mouth hanging open.
I am more than happy to say that unlike other series' sequels, The Truth actually made sense. Sure, we didn't have to know how Linc and Tally's story continued, but I was all too happy to read it anyway. Their world made so much sense, it was scary at times.

Writing style:
I like Ms. Owen's way with words. She knows how to dip them in just enough sauce so they're not soaked through, but perfectly blended with the overall taste of the story.

Story line:
With much effort not to spoil anything for y'all, I'll say that this story's development was both unnecessary and crucial at the same time. Unnecessary, because This Much Is True could've been left as a stand alone. Crucial because so much was explained and developed in The Truth, that now that I've read it, I'm beginning to think that it was actually a much needed conclusion.

Themes:
-circumstances - do you give in to them or do you fight for yourself and the ones you love
-love - does it really last or could you throw it away when the next hardship comes around
-trust - it's difficult to build, but even more difficult to keep.
-children need their parents.

Characters:
Needless to say, the main twosome here, Tally and Lincoln, will be my main focus.

What I can say about Tally is that she was very unsure of herself and of Linc. Sure they loved each other. Sure they went to hell together and came back. But something wasn't quite right in their love nest. Tally wasn't happy with Linc's constant absences, with his father's constant meddling in their wedding plans, with her own body's betrayal and with a bunch of other things that she couldn't find a way to control. She wanted to give her love to Lincoln, but in the process she sort of gave up on her own dreams and desires.
Tally complained a lot, which at one point made me want to shake her thoroughly and put her back where she belonged. Then there was that accident and I just saw her giving up on that super powerful love that not many people find in life. At that point, I wanted to slap her and pour some sense in her mind.
But, even with all that, by the end of the story Tally actually grew up. She really grew up to be a woman to be proud of. She fought for what she wanted and she was graceful about it.

Now Linc... was a selfish bastard in the beginning. He didn't seem to care about Tally's wishes at all. There seemed to be only baseball, and to hell with everything else, even his family. I sort of despised him for that behavior.
I didn't wish him much good, but I had no idea he'd get what he deserved. To a point. When he was miserable, I just wanted to hug him. When he messed up, there was nothing else I wanted to do but strangle him.
Yet, I was proud of how much he grew and developed into the role of a father and caring fiance/husband. What I loved more was that after everything, Link was actually able to figure out exactly what was most important to him.

In conclusion:
The Truth is a story of love and hate and memories. It's beautiful and heart-breaking and heart-mending. It's like a sweet and sour sauce. You can't not love it.

This Much Is True is one of my favorite reads. It has everything I look for in a book. For this reason I was excited to start The Truth About Air and Water. I wanted more Tally and Linc. At the same time I was also skeptical. I'm the type of reader whose book shelves are lined with continuations of books I love and guess what? They are mostly DNF (if even started). I find myself falling in love with characters only to lose interest and find boredom when reading their companions and follow-up novels. I can only think of one novel that was written as a standalone that I have completed the follow up books. I am happy to say The Truth About Air and Water can be added to that list making it a twosome.

I couldn't put this book down once I started. I really adored it. My heart was immediately sucked back into Linc and Tally's world that is full of drama, miscommunications, pain, angst, passion, and most importantly love... the epic kind. It was easy to fall in love with these characters all over again while they faced a new tragedy. I have come to the conclusion that Owen loves to shred hearts... if only so she can piece them back together in better shape than they started.

This book is slightly difficult to review without being vague, but I don't like to spoil storylines if they aren't mentioned in the synopsis. Know this book is emotionally dark like the first one, but with a few more laughs. Although it was a new story, in ways it was very similar to This Much Is True and definitely had the same "feel" to it that I originally fell in love with. Despite the similarities it was its own book and provided a fresh new story for Linc and Tally.

All the same characters are back and most were better than I remembered. I was a little conflicted with Tally at times. I loved her for all her flaws. I felt she had grown so much in the first book, but she easily went back to her old ways when times got tough. A part of me wanted her to be the hero and overcome all of her insecuries, but that was never really who she was. She still had alot of growth left in her and things to overcome in this book. As much as it frustrated me, I think it added to the realistic depiction this series gives.

I think the only thing I wanted a little more of was some happiness. These two wouldn't kill over from a rainbow or unicorn being thrown their way. They had been through so much and suffered so deeply in This Much Is True that is was hard to watch them endure more pain. I ached for these two. I complain, but I'm not really into light and fluffly and secretly enjoy the pain..sooo take that as you wish lol.

Overall, I defintely recommend this read. I would recommend it moreso to those who read and fell in love with This Much Is True (It's a must read btw). The Truth About Air and Water could be read as a standalone, but I don't think you would appreciate it as much if you haven't experienced the beginning and the struggles Linc and Tally went through to get to where they are. My view is slightly biased, but I did try and pay attention to the information given along with the story itself, and I don't believe one would be lost or confused if they didn't read This Much Is True... but you would be missing out, so be sure to pick it up first. If you like angst, drama, realty, and true love, ou won't be dissappointed with this series.

The Truth About Air and Water **Received through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**

May contain spoilers if you have not read the first book in the series.

Tally is thrilled to be showing Linc the little church she found in Half Moon Bay for them to have their wedding in. The only problem is she has to convince him to have the ceremony there because his dad wants him to do it at a different location. As they are speaking to Pastor Dan about themselves and their relationship, Linc tells the pastor that Tally can't have any more kids but he really wanted a son. And so begins the doubting of Linc's love for her. Her heart sinks further when the pastor tells them the church won't be available until the summer of next year...right in the middle of baseball season.

Linc decides that he can't wait to marry Tally and formulates a plan to elope, because they can always have the big ceremony later. However, the day before their elopement, Linc is hit by a baseball traveling 90 miles an hour. Tally see's it all on TV, then rushes to the hospital. After being in a drug-induced coma for a couple of days, Linc wakes up. Tally and his father are both in the room. The first thing he says when he see's Tally is: "Who are you? Why are you here?" The injury causes him to lose the past 6 years of his memories. He doesn't know Tally. He doesn't know Cara. And his father seems to want to keep it that way.

The blurb says this book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading This Much Is True first. I believe you will need that background to see what the relationship is like between these two. Sometimes, it seems easier just to give up, but they keep trudging along. Gotta give them kudos for that.

I felt almost exactly the same way about this book as I did the first one. Tally pissed me off, again. My main thought with her is that she just needs to grow up. After the tragedy she's been through, and having/raising a child, and being disciplined in ballet, you would think that she would be more mature. She kept putting the blame on other people.

I just didn't feel as if Linc and Tally's relationship was as strong as it is portrayed to be. Yes, they persevere until things work out, but they would never give up in the first place if their love was that strong.

There was still a lot of emotion involved and something that made me want to continue reading their story. I just had to see what obstacle they had to face next. I have to say, I was a little disappointed because there wasn't more of a showdown with Davis Presley. He was the one in the wrong, and buying her a dress does not make up for it.

The sweetest part of the book was at Cara's birthday party. When Cara see's Linc again after being away from him for months. But, once again, the best part was the last chapters. The way the author describes the atmosphere and surroundings makes it feel like the perfect ending.

I would recommend this book to fans of New Adult.

This is book two in the Truth in Lies series. It continues the story of Linc and Tally, their love continues but will they be together? I enjoyed this book a little more than the first, it was such an emotional roller-coaster, I know I used this phrase in the first book, but gee whiz, this one is more so than the first. Oh my goodnesssssss, what is Katherine Owen doing to my heart and my head? I was like no no noooooooo, you cannot do that to Tally and she’s been through so much already. There was also the added benefit of learning more about Thor, he was a spectacular addition. I would love to hear more about Sam Wilde and his secretive career.

Tally and Linc are living the dream or so everybody thinks. The only problem is that it’s a lie. Nothing in life is easy and with the two famous in their own right, this couple is struggling to find the happy medium of a travelling baseball player, a ballerina and a daughter. They do an interview with Sports Illustrated and the reporter has something against Tally apparently; for some reason she doesn’t show Tally in good light.

As with all wedding preparations, they are absolutely stressful and left mostly to Tally, which again is normal. The couple can’t agree on the venue and Linc’s father is being a pain in the butt too. Will they get married? This couple that has an EPIC love for each other, that’s destined to be together, always finds roadblocks.

It appears Linc is withholding some things from Tally and it hurts when she finds out. This is something she cannot control, but it still hurts none the less. Linc comes home while Tally is cooking dinner, she’s tired, stressed and has so many things on her plate. Linc has to tell her they need to move the wedding date because of baseball. Now Tally has to change all the plans she’s already made and has a spat. Linc goes of his rocker too and Tally storms upstairs. Linc doesn’t think about what Tally has to do, he only concentrates on baseball. He’d forgotten all about her appointment with the doctor.

Things keep piling up on Tally and her insecurities keep coming back to punch her in the gut. Bloody Nika just won’t stay out of their life and it makes it really hard for Tally to trust Linc completely. Can this couple with their EPIC love finally have a happily ever after? After a tragic accident during a game, their lives have changed again.

This review may be a little vague, but I don’t want to give away the most important part of the book. I was crying more in The Truth About Air and Water; it was just amazing. Ms Owen, you astonish me. I couldn’t believe the events that happened throughout this book. I was so invested into Tally that I was laughing and crying and I felt so much compassion for this character. Linc was really annoying for me, not that it was his fault, but Davis, oh dear, what a jerk, I would have decked him myself for what he did. I highly recommend this series to ALL new adult readers. This is a must!

A large version of this review was previously posted at Corazones Literarios, more details were added to it.

This book was provided by the author via Xpresso Book Tours in exchange a honest review, this didn't affect my opinion of the book.

This is one of the most difficult reviews I have made and isn’t because I hate the book, for the contrary, is because I LOVE it. There are so many feels around this book that I can’t control myself. Each page broke my heart a little and keeps me over the edge. The truth is I cry the entire book. And I’m not lying or overreacting, I literally cry since the first page of this book.

The Truth About Air and Water started when TMiT finished but they’re written as standalone so you don’t lose anything, besides, through the reading you find out what happened. Tally and Lincoln are getting married and everything seems good but after the meeting with the Reverend that probably would marry them, they start to wonder if it’s a good idea after all. But then, when they decide to not care about what others say and elope to marry in Vegas, fate mess with their grips and destroy their plans.

So, here starts everything and “destroying their plans” doesn’t start to cover it. The author REALLY knows how to mess with us. She really does and she does it so well, that you can’t be mad at her when you heart is getting broken into millions of pieces. She created a real problem. My heart aches for Tally and I admire how she controls herself and put Cara health first.

Here, we perfectly see how much we are enemies of ourselves. Because it doesn’t matter how much Tally says the Russian girl is her archenemy, she’s the only enemy of her relationship with Lincoln as much as he is from his side. I think that one of the major lessons of this book is what we do – how strong we fight – to be with the person we love. And I’m very pleased that it has been developing through the series.

But what amaze me the most of this book is the fact that I never saw anything coming. For so many points of the read I thought they would never get back together, as other I thought they were perfect for each other. I got that move swing through all the reading and never could determinate the end till arrived.

Overall, I LOVE this book with all my heart. And it have been the BEST BOOK I READ THIS YEAR. There’s nothing wrong with it, everything fit so perfectly and it all well constructed that I can’t find a romance as perfect as this. And it is so touching that I couldn't pick another book for so long because nothing seemed to get even closer to this perfection. The only thing I wish for the next book of the series is that finally they could be together the entire book, or at least, half of it.

If you're looking for spoilers, you might wanna ignore this...

In fifty words or less?
Lincoln and Tally, theirs is a love so transcendent, so...epic that their story has left me breathless and thirsty. In...the...most...satisfying...way. This is not just some romance novel. This is...love in words.

In more than fifty words?
TTAA&W is the seamless continuation of the story of star-crossed lovers, Lincoln and Tally. We pick right up after TMIT ends with Lincoln and Tally's wedding preparations. Everything seems to be falling into place for them with their wedding mere months away, but a meeting with a prospective wedding officiant has Tally wondering if love simply is enough, if SHE is enough and Lincoln refusing to accept a life without Tally as his wife as soon as baseball-y possible.

While Tally is certain of her love for Lincoln, we see that she needs Lincoln's assurance of his love for her. She struggles with believing that she is enough for Lincoln. On top of that, Tally has to deal with a demanding dance career, emotional scars from the death of her sister, and a toddler recovering from a tragic accident all while Lincoln is away for days on end playing baseball. So, it's not surprising that Tally is unsure and doubtful of their future. However, Lincoln is determined and sure enough for the both of them. But what happens if Tally has to be the strong one? What happens when she now has to be sure enough for both of them?

Ah, sigh...

So, you have to let me back things up a little bit. I read TMIT quite a while back, I recall enjoying that book very much (so y'all should truly consider reading it before this book. Although, it does not seem necessary to enjoy this part of their story). And by enjoy I mean that I cried. A lot. And I got angry. A lot. I gave TMIT a four-star rating. It was a great read. However, I remember thinking that in the end it wasn't really their love that brought them together. It was simply life finally falling to place for them, making it less of a struggle to love each other. Like all the problems that kept them apart finally worked themselves out enough to no longer be major problems for them. In TTAA&W, on the other hand, we see Lincoln and Tally fight for their love. Of course, they did it in different ways and at different times in the book. However, that's what makes this part of their story so breath-takingly real and raw.

I truly loved this book. This is love. This is drama. This is struggle. This is emotion. This is...f***ing beautiful.

Katherine Owen is literary angst at its finest.

***Side note***
I'm sure that I'm not the only one wondering how Lincoln's..."sacrifice"...pans out. So, Ms. Owen, please feel free to write another installment, another chapter, an epilogue, a novella. :)
