I like this author. He is such a nice guy and one cannot doubt his sincere desire to help people. I used to follow his podcast but since he switched up his forum, I'm not as diligent to listen as I used to be.
He has interviewed so many big names in this field and this book is just a compilation of those interviews and what he has learned along the way.
I listen to a lot of health books and health podcasts so I'm surprised that I feel I am not the target audience here. I learned nothing new. It's all the same info he has on his podcast including all the often repeated cliches. The target audience seems to be those who are just starting down the rabbit hole of getting healthier. They could read this and get more bang for their buck here than searching out the big names and listening to the multitude of interviews that are out there....literally years worth of info right here. So that's a plus.
Overall, this was just okay for me...a solid 2 stars. But I added a star for what this could be to someone who is just starting to seek better health.
Good book but nothing I haven’t read before in other books and social media. The good thing about this book is the methods of explaining theories at a level where nearly anybody could understand.
A good place to start, but this information isn’t new and has been in practice for years. I zipped through the ebook, which I borrowed from the library. Easy to understand, simple format. The 30-day plan is guidelines for each day but doesn’t have specific meals listed. I would question that a recipe with 12 eggs provides only two servings, but that’s just me! No thank you to the coffee enema.
Trash. Just enough common sense info that anybody with a basic exposure to info/trends in health/wellness knows to be true... but sprinkled through with a lot of completely GARBAGE SCIENCE and cherry-picked studies in a pathetic attempt to convince you that the author is an expert on "metabolic health." Guess what? He is not; he has no medical/science credentials at all! He doesn't even hold any college degrees (he dropped out of college before earning an Associate's Degree).
The writing style was inconsistent and intermittently sounded like it was written for young adults or copied from a ChatGPT who'd been asked to write a brief summary of a specific physiological process. So many of his "suggestions" were just laughable because they were so absurd, but because they were sandwiched between a fair amount of commonsense advice, they're apt not to be recognized as the insane "snake oil" remedies they actually are.
FFS. Don't read this. I only read it because my MIL gave it to me, but now I can at least give her my honest opinion when she asks me how I liked it!
Good reading. Goes in depth on his history and experience. He covers the different metabolic issues that occur in humans and suggestions on what can be done to mitigate or reverse illness. As with every diet or lifestyle change it may not work for everyone, but it is worth giving a try.
I have hypothyroidism (no medication) and am in my early 60's. Full on menopause since my 50's. I started gaining weight steadily and I have a relatively healthy diet. Lot of fruits, salads, vegetables & fish. I lost 13 lbs. in 2 weeks following his recommendations. I know some of that was water weight, but I also am sleeping better and my allergies & headaches almost all went away. Just to test, when I added carbs such as biscuits and bread back the headaches and allergies came back. Sticking to more fish & chicken as proteins (lower saturated fats) and low carb vegetables, this seems to work for me.
I have been following Ben for a very long time and have learned so much from him and this book digs deeps into metabolic health and how to understand your overall health. This book has so much great information plus great receipes to follow for your daily diet. I recommend anyone who is seeking to educate themselves and live a healthy lifestyle to read this book !!!
I have learned so much and I am doing the 30 day metabolism reset. I have not been able to lose weight for a long time, and I am sure I am full of inflammation, hormones out of whack and messed up metabolism from 40+ years of yo-yo dieting. This book has been a game changer for me
Metabolism is a complex subject. This book makes a good job of reducing this complexity by introducing metabolic processes and associating them with many easy to understand examples from the real world.
It makes the argument for root of all evil when it comes to health being the carb heavy modern diets where energy is mainly obtained by burning sugar which is like burning charcoal vs. ketogenic diet which is like burning natural gas. It examines these 2 processes on the cellular level and makes the argument for constantly fluctuating insulin levels disrupts the metabolism after years leading into illnesses and degenerates the cell membrane and its ability to function properly.
The book is divided into 2 parts where first part chapters covering this main understanding, then impact of related aspects such as sleep, bad stress, the effects of chemicals found in processed foods and other health disruptors. The second part of the book is dedicated to solutions by suggesting several activities from simple ones like taking a walk after diner to more complex ones such as using red light therapy. It also makes a strong case for intermittent fasting which has several benefits like improved insulin sensitivity, reduced risk of chronic diseases, reducing inflammation, cell repair and clean up and so on. At the end it ends with a 30 day metabolic reset plan and several healthy recipes.
I felt like I learnt a lot about metabolism and about different nutrients from this book although it might not be as simple turning it into action and making significant life changes.

Good, basic info anyone can use. A plan, so there's no excuse. Already started 16 hour fasts and will now do a wee bit of tweaking and set day 1 as the 21st.
Ben Azadi delivers high-quality content, whether it is online or in print. His book is thoroughly researched and an easy read for those wanting to make informed decisions about their health!
Lots of good information in this book about keto, fasting and lowering blood sugar. A lot of it I already knew, but the information is consistant with the research I’ve done over many years. I like that the author backs up his claims with footnotes. Easy read. 30 day plan at the end. It did end sharp, which I found weird but overall great book.
I enjoyed the information presented. Was put together well. I’m not a flexer though myself. I have no desire to eat carbs or plants. But there is a lot of other great info especially if you’re new to keto. I’ve watched a lot Ben’s videos. I wanted to read the book. If I had one bad thing to say. The book is pricey. Especially on kindle. But I happy that I read the book.
Great read, full of well researched information, a lot of it thought provoking, awesome body hacks, starting the reset today, very well written because I don't normally read these books, will read more Azadi!!
Offers information on a wide array of topics but falls into the usual trappings. We wouldn't want someone to read this book unless we had already fixed their problems.

Chock full of internet/influencer-sourced pseudo-science
I was really disappointed by this book. It read like the author did an internet search for trendy, influencer-endorsed tips and tricks for weight loss, with a big dose of cornball motivational nonsense from 40 years ago (Dr. Dyer, anyone?). The "30-day program" outlined in the final chapter is not practical for anyone, and certainly not anything that can be sustained long-term. There are a lot of questionable "rules" espoused without any solid scientific citations to support them. Eat only organic! It costs more so it must be better! Most of the citations are from other self-proclaimed internet "experts". I was also dismayed to see that the author himself has absolutely no real academic, scientific or professional credentials - having a podcast doesn't count! I'd like to ask for my $17 dollars back, but I guess I should have done more background research on this material which is nothing more than so much fluff, so that's on me.
This is an easy read and fairly well organized, but it mostly feels like a summary of ideas borrowed from other sources rather than original insight. Despite being marketed as a 30-day guide, it doesn’t offer a true day-by-day plan—more like a brief overview of what to do over 30 days.
The author presents himself as an expert based largely on having read many books, without clear qualifications to support that claim. Signing up for his mailing list leads to a flood of promotional emails pushing a $100/month academy, which doesn’t appear to offer much more than what’s already in the book. Overall, it feels more like a marketing funnel than a genuinely helpful guide.
This book is so good, I’m buying the hard copy of it as I highlighted most of my Kindle version! 😅
Let’s just say this: IF people who read this book took HALF the recommendations in it to change your life, the US healthcare system would take a HUGE hit financially. 😬
And as a healthcare worker in the US 🙋🏻♀️, it would make me SO HAPPY if that happened!!!!!!! 🥳
Why????????
Because more people would be HEALTHY & not need the big-pharma-pushing-US-healthcare system which in and of itself has its own agenda: their bottom line. 💰💰💰💰💰
This is a great overview of keto and fasting if you're unfamiliar with either. It's got a lot of studies and whatnot, but it isn't boring. However, I felt like I knew most of this already, and I was mostly interested in chapter 12, where Ben lays out the 30-day plan. I would've also liked to hear more about what you do after the 30 days. Keep repeating it, or do something different? I also feel like I need something that speaks more to women's health, such as Dr. Mindy Pelz, to account for hormonal changes. Midlife—it's here!
3.5 - his ideas (and others) honestly have changed my life. Everything I have learned about nutrition has clicked and come together.
What I don’t like about this is that he teases his story but never actually tells it. The science is there and he breaks things down but he still didn’t answer so of my questions. I have found more information on his YouTube page than this is book, which this should be the cumulation of it.
Not the easiest/ most accessible read for those not already aware of biological terms.
This was a beginners comprehensive guide to start learning about metabolic switching and general health ideas. He doesn't lean quite as hard into science as some others I've read and he keeps the ideas relatively short and to the point.
He doesn't separate out men and women, which I think is important because men and women are completely different biologically. I personally feel that Fast Like a Girl is better for women and this book would be better for men.
Ben azadi is an authority on health and nutrition. He has extensive experience in helping clients understand their metabolism, hormones and how to use tools to improve their health and well-being. This is a must read for anyone who is tired of following one diet after another and wants true healing.
Ben’s book is a game changer to transform your health. He already transformed mine. I lost 45 pounds and kept it off thanks to Ben and his teachings. His book is key to understanding how metabolism works. Chapter 10 is gold. You may read this book if you are struggling or your healthy and want to get a deep understanding of metabolic freedom.
Metabolic Freedom is a game-changer. Ben Azadi breaks down complex metabolic science into practical steps anyone can follow. His fasting protocols (like 3-3-1 and 5-1-1) are easy to implement and incredibly effective. This isn’t just another keto book — it’s a smart, empowering guide to reclaiming your energy, burning fat, and staying in control for life. Highly recommended!
Azadi is very knowledgeable. This book is chock full of research and digestible explanations. I found the practical advice on how to implement this info and his plan convoluted and impractical. I think it's worth reading for his explanations alone. I wouldn't necessarily buy the book for the 30-day guide.
As others have stated, the seems a very good book for beginners. A bit of the information here feels dated and a bit gimmicky, like encouraging cold plunges.
I appreciate the message of gratitude and the reminders to practice those.
If your body already runs on natural ketones, this will not be the book for you to find any new information.
A book of nutrition. While aspects were above my head I was able to get a good understanding of the information provided by the writer. It's designed to be a base line reference book to be use to correct varies Metabolic issues that the American diet fails. Want to get better read the book an utilize the available info.
