I really like when a book has EVERYTHING I want in a story, and “Off Limits: A Brother’s Best Friend Romance” did not disappoint. I am now left wondering how the heck did I miss the first 3 books in the “Damaged Hearts Series”? Even though this is a standalone with no cliffhanger, I vow to find and read those first 3 books, and any books that follow this one.
My typical reads are novellas, I like finishing a book in an hour. This book was a novel, and it took about 4 hours to finish it, but boy was it worth it. Oh yes….it was DEFINITELY worth it.
The characters had depth, the storyline was very good and had a few twists I wasn’t expecting, and the lovemaking between Marcus and Lauren had the perfect amount of steam, although he did seem a bit selfish to me. Marcus needs to read a Mountain Man book or two. There were so many references to Marcus wrecking women with his lovemaking, but it didn’t seem like he tried to pleasure them properly….but that is just my opinion, and doesn’t effect the 5 star review this book earned.
A cool bonus is this author provides a reading playlist at the beginning of the book, which was very pleasant.

Lauren had been in love with Marcus since she was 17 but he only sees her as a little sister, but now she's all grown up.
Marcus is a one-and-done kind of guy, but his best friend's little sister, who he has sworn to protect, deserves better and staying away from her is becoming too hard to resist.
But her life is in danger and he will do anything to protect her, but will he be able to protect her heart?
I loved these characters' love story, I was desperate for them to get together and could feel the tension building when the secrets were unravelling.
This novel is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.
This is an author I will always follow and get excited for, their writing is fluid and easy to read, with a narrative that has you hooked, characters you are invested in and a storyline that will have you reading up into the middle of the night wondering what happens next.
