Book 4 of the Den of Sin Series.

Most come to The Beaudelaire Hotel a select few times a year merely to indulge in sexual fantasy, but the stakes are higher for Karen Freeman and Paul Beaudelaire this New Year’s weekend. Karen is nine years post-op from a double mastectomy, and her vain ex-husband hadn’t agreed with her decision to remove her remaining good breast or to eschew reconstruction. In the end, that decision cost her. She lost her marriage, but she’s certain the move has prolonged her life.
Returning to a normal dating and sex life has been difficult. She hasn’t made love fully unclothed since the demise of her marriage, and her most significant relationship occurred right after her surgery. When she was still recuperating, she had an affair of the heart with a Marine amputee who’d also been her Ph.D. classmate.
Paul Beaudelaire once led a charmed life as a ladies’ man who had his pick of women in the upper echelons of New Orleans society. He’d been satisfied to continue in that vein, until a Marine recruiter wooed him from LSU with tales of valor, courage, and commitment. His career in the corps cut short by the loss of his left leg, Paul returned to New Orleans with the best prosthesis Johns Hopkins orthopedics experts could fit him with. The problem was, he’d left his heart in Baltimore with a beautiful former model, whose crippled marriage was the only deterrent to his waning honor.
Will this fantasy weekend at his Uncle Henri’s hotel give him a second chance with his contemporary Amazon, or will her fear of rejection be a barrier to their reconnection?

Growing up, L.V. Lewis wanted to be an internationally known rock star, but unfortunately, lived in the wrong part of the country to pursue that career (and neither American Idol nor The Voice were available then). An early love for the written word gave her the plan B she sought. Now she pens romance novels that let her live vicariously through rock stars and other fascinating archetypes.

My Thoughts - Story
OMG…what a book this would be if it was a full novel. I can see the characters get developed more – spend more time on their past and bam…this would be a 5 star book! That’s how good this story-line was.

Now, I have been totally off of erotica for some time now and being honest, I dreaded reading this with all the sex. But shit..I was freaking surprised when this book actually had a great story behind it that had me enthralled. The sex was great – the story was great. Win – win in my book.

This book deals with survivors of losing limbs and the self-esteem that goes along with having sex --- fucking fantastic!

This book is intended for readers 18+.

Even though I consider L.V. Lewis an author-friend, I've sadly never taken the time to read one of her books. I'm glad I carved some time out of my crazy schedule to read this novella, because it showed me exactly what I've been missing. The book summary will tell you all you need to know about the story, so with my review, I'd like to brag on L.V.'s writing style.

The author is definitely a weaver of words. A lot of people write, and write well, but L.V.'s intelligent storytelling and snappy dialogue really set her apart from other erotica authors. There's a sweet rhythm and flow, especially in her narratives, that made this a very enjoyable read for me.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

With so much physical perfection in so many romance novels, it was refreshing to read about Karen, a survivor with a double mastectomy and no reconstruction, and Paul, a veteran amputee. They met nine years ago, while they were recuperating and were fellow PhD students. The unwillingness of Karen to be vulnerable and hiding her scars was poignant as she used to be a model popular for her perfect body. Dumped by her husband after the surgery, she believes that she is less, and it is heartbreaking.

I enjoyed that Paul was a renaissance man: played the piano, made great beignets, and a historian. It was great to view him as a sexy man, who is also an amputee. He refused to see Karen as she saw herself as lacking. His quotes:

"I would love the privilege of viewing your scars..."

"I stupidly did not fight for you nine years ago, and I will not do that again."

"You need to give yourself permission to want more out of life. What you lack doesn't make you less."

This story is about a second chance that her sister and her sister's friend give to her. It's about getting past fears, insecurities and being willing to allow love in. Love sees the wholeness and perfection that the eyes do not see. Of course, there are the steamy, sexy, erotic scenes! It was an enjoyable read.

Loved it. He has lost one leg and she has lost both breasts. Hers to save her life and his in the service. They had an amazing night when they were both recovering. Now they meet up at his uncles hotel to live out a fantasy. She has a lot of deep hurt because of her ex. He does because of his leg. Can they heal each other and find happiness? Very emotional heart tugging enjoyable read. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Extra Credit

It's academic that ex military Paul has had it bad for fellow professor and ex model Karen for almost a decade, but it's not until she shows up at the Den of Sin that he can finally do something about it. Can she let him in or will he fail before they have a chance?

I have had the honor of reading the first three books in the Den of Sin series and the number one thing I tell readers is you will find a steamy story with a real message about life, acceptance and moving forward in each book. L. V Lewis doesn’t write this series for the erotic element alone, she write a meaningful story with an erotic twist. The Beaudelaire Hotel is the place where broken and dishearten people go to find a second chance at love and life.
In this installment you meet Karen and Paul. They had met years ago during physical therapy and rehab. Karen was married though and not free to explore any feelings she had for another man. Paul was instantly attracted to her but he respected her situation in life and at the time he was trying to find his place in society now that he came back from the Marines with his leg being replaced by prosthesis.
Karen was one of the most sought after fashion models in the country. Her beauty lit up a room and men would fall on the floor in front of her to gain a single second of her attention, but she was dealt the hand of facing a double mastectomy. Her husband couldn’t handle that his wife was no longer the woman who could fill out those sexy bathing suits so their marriage ended. Giving love another try was not something Karen was willing to risk; she couldn’t even have sex without her shirt on. After agreeing to give the weekend of fantasy a try, she is confronted with the man who fell in love with her all of those years ago. Could she let Paul love her and give her two days of joy and passion?
L.V. Lewis proves to the reader that outside beauty isn’t what feeds the soul; it is your heart and spirit that makes you beautiful. As Paul proves to Karen she is as much of a woman now as she was in front of the camera we watch her confidence grow and admire the courage and self-acceptance Paul as over his newly formed body. This is a story of second chances, love and acceptance that can be read very quickly due to the shorten length and writing style. The author is a pro at reeling you in on the first page and making the next couple of hours become a fantasy come true for the reader.

I received and ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved how this book proves that even though you're not "whole", there is someone out there who will want you for the way you are.

Karen is a retired super model. The reason she's retired even though she still has a body to die for? She's had a double mastectomy and doesn't fill out the swimsuits like she used to. She feels that she isn't "whole" anymore, she isn't a full woman without her breasts. So for the last 9 years or so she's kept herself at a distance from the male species, especially after her husband divorced her. That all changes though after she decides to go to the Den of Sin for the New Year, and she sees Paul is the one she will be spending the weekend with.

Paul knows that there is a connection between him and Karen that is undeniable. It's been there since he met her while she was doing rehabilitation, but she was off limits then. Now that she's not attached to anyone, he plans on making this weekend with her one she will never forget. Paul's goal is to to make Karen realize that they are made for each other. Paul is an amputee, he knows what Karen has gone through and he wants to show her that she is still the most beautiful woman he's ever seen.

Will Paul be able to show Karen that just because she doesn't have breast, doesn't make her less of a woman? Will Karen finally realize that Paul is who will make her the happiest she's ever felt? Will these two continue with the relationship past the New Year?

I really loved this story, I was a little disappointed that the steamy scenes weren't as steamy as the others in the series. But I think I liked the story line a lot better. It just proves that even though you don't think you're perfect, someone out there does.

Out of the Den of Sin Series (I've only read 3 of the books) this one is my absolute favorite.

These two beautiful people that despite tragedy have come through with love to be made perfectly whole.

I applaud author L.V. Lewis for writing such a story of a breast cancer survivor (double mastectomy) and a war veteran (amputee). This author has created a story that will show people that love is possible for "ALL OF US" no matter the obstacle, your cross to bear or what you deem to be inadequate about yourself.

I love the mention of my tiger beat boo "Alex Minsky"

The mention of the woman who had beautiful and intricate tattoo design over her double mastectomy https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&r...

Love is love...Whether the person is whole or missing a limb/breast. True Love makes everything right and whole.

Ms. Lewis’s contribution to the Den of Sin has by far, sweeter undertones to it than the previous novellas. I absolutely loved that both Karen and Paul had undergone physical loss - Karen a double mastectomy, Paul lost his leg in the war - and found strength and friendship in their shared status. But don’t let the sweetness of the plot fool you because Redeeming the Amazon is just as hot and sexy. Paul enters The Beaudelaire with hopes of starting a relationship with the one that got away (she was married when they met), while Karen is looking to “scratch an itch” while having her “top on” condition met and agreed to before she shows up. Who gets their way? Well you’ll just have to read it to find out.

I received this book for an honest review.

I wasn't real sure what to expect going into this book. This book is a great story about how you might see yourself as flawed but others don't see you the same. Karen felt she was flawed after being a supermodel and now after losing her breast to cancer. She felt like no one would want her like she somehow didn't deserve to be loved as a woman. Alone came Paul and proved to her that she was still all woman and very desirable.

This book touched close to home. I to share some of Karen's insecurities but for different reasons than hers. This book gives me hope that there is a Paul somewhere for me! I recommend that you give this book a read! Now I have to go and read the others in the Den of Sin series!

Another Den of Sin story that packed a lot of story and sensuality into a short read. This one was more complex than the other two I read because of the beauty and the beast aspect. It was interesting to read how the heroine learned to love her body again after having a double mastectomy.

The hero helped with the healing process. He was able to do that because he had struggled with his own self-image as an amputee. He was absolutely wonderful and so patient when she wasn't ready to move forward or ask him to give up - what she thought was his dream job - for her.

Great read.

I am reading the books out of order. This is book 4 by LV Lewis no stranger to us she is the author of Jungle Fever and Exist Strategy also a great series. The series has 5 books and LV Lewis is only one of the authors the other stories are written by other authors known to some of us. I enjoyed reading Paul and Karen's story. These stories are about the characters spending a weekend at The Beaudelaire Hotel and fulfilling/acting out their sexual fantasies!

A very heartfelt romance about two people learning to love and trust again. How do you move on after losing a part of you that makes you whole and a woman? That's what Karen Freeman learns while spending a hot and very sexual romamtic weekend with Paul Beaudelaire, at the Beaudelaire Hotel. Will they get another chance at love this time a round? A short but a great read.!!

I was really impressed with this book, It is not often we read about women who have had mastectomies. I could really put myself in Karens place. Paul was also in a similar position being an amputee although he got over his self-doubt easier than Karen. They are a perfect match. I gave the book 5 stars just for story content. I loved that both characters were flawed. I appreciate authors who are willing to show the vulnerability of people who are not the "norm". Pick this up if you are looking for a novella that will touch your heart.

This was a nice short love story that I enjoyed thoroughly. We get caught up in imperfections and allow them to keep us from being able to live our lives without the fear of rejection. Karen and Paul's story was a beautiful one and I can't wait to read the other volumes of the Den of Sin Series.

Im giving this a four star because the story was just too short. Other than that it's a great story of a former model whom had both breasts removed due to cancer find herself again with a handsome amputee to help her gain her self confidence back.
