2 books6 followersNathaniel Brown is an assistant pastor at Good News Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. He is married to Rebekah and they have two sons, Aaron and Ezra, and a daughter, Ivy. Nathaniel is passionate about God’s Word, and desires to help others learn to study the Bible and see how it applies specifically to their lives. He is a graduate of the Crown College of the Bible, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.

I have been teaching in some kind of capacity at Church for around 15 years...I wish I would have had this book when I first started! The Christian Storyteller shares not only practical applications of impactful storytelling, but how to utilize storytelling in your conversations to point to Christ and capture the attention of your audience.
Jesus, and all of the other examples of those in the Bible shared in this book, told stories with purpose and intent. In my everyday life I am so scrambled in my thoughts and details that I often lose the room before I’m halfway done with my story. I may have even already lost your attention just in these few sentences, but I now can understand and see how important this principle of storytelling really is and will apply this in my teaching and everyday life.
5 stars and would recommend especially to any beginning or seasoned teachers!

Absolutely excellent! (disclaimer: I'm a friend of the author)
The only reason it's not 5 star is that there are a few typological errors. There's a couple of places where a sentence just stops in the middle at a page break or the wrong word is used. I'm sure this would be fixed with a reprint.
That said, wow, this was a fantastic and helpful read. The thoughtfulness that went into each point paired perfectly with the carefully selected Bible stories to illustrate. Nathaniel walks us through all the reasons why we should be using stories, shoots down our objections, and gives helpful tips and resources for telling great stories! This read has convinced me to include more story telling in my preaching, discipleship, and conversation.
An additional note about the author: having known Nathaniel for a few years, I can attest to his growth on this topic. When we met, he was a fairly reserved, even shy, person. We became friends due to having classes together. Otherwise we may never have met. Over the years, we have crossed paths a few times, and I've been so impressed with his growth as both a Christian and a person. This is well worth a read!

A great resource for all Christian parents, teachers, and pastors. Nathaniel Brown does an incredible job of addressing many aspects of storytelling while always connecting it to God's Word. He emphasizes the importance of using stories for so much more than a moral lesson, but for eternal truth. As a mother, it was helpful for me to think through various ways I can use stories as I instruct, guide, and correct my children.
