In this first collection of poetry, Ally Thomas focuses on her love of paranormal creatures, primarily vampires. Think of it as walking through the minds of various vampires. You witness their confessions, their delights, their fears, their trepidations, their doubts, and their tears. Many of the 50 poems, written in free verse, are ‘dark poetry’ and each reveals the vampire’s heart and soul filled with a variety of emotions – regret or rejoice, longing or loving, perhaps anger or rage, and even moments of quiet desperation left unspoken.
Ally Thomas loves writing fantasy and paranormal books for that showcase vampires, werewolves, zombies, witches, and any furry monsters who go bump in the night. She enjoys imagining new origins for these traditional creatures and seeing where it'll take her. Ally's paranormal series, The Vampire from Hell has been on the Top 100 Amazon bestsellers list in Fantasy since its release in 2011.
About The Vampire from Hell Rayea is a daughter of Satan, and a vampire. But she's on our side. According to Rayea, the oldest daughter of Satan, the origin of vampires started in Hell, and it started with her. Rayea isn't daddy's little girl, even if he is the most powerful fallen angel around. He wants her to take an active role in the family business. But she's not interested in his schemes for world domination. Instead she wants to spend her time shopping on the Internet, rescuing humans from a horrific eternity, and practicing martial arts with her seven foot hellhound. Then one day everything changes.
I'm not one to normally pick up a book on poetry but the author is a friend of mine and of course I was going to support her and read this along with all the other books in her "Vampire From Hell" series. I've got to say that I usually relay my thoughts after I finish a book of hers but, crazy enough, I was telling her all through it how much I was really enjoying all these poems (more like personal trips into the vampires minds). Really interesting stuff here. And not in the pretty sexy nowadays vamps. These are dark and disturbing and very thoughtful. I was intrigued all the way to the end. Give it a go. You'll be surprised how captivated you become.
Do you love all things paranormal? Do you love Vampires? How about adding Poetry to it? This is one thrilling Vampire Book of Poetry through the eyes of Vampires. It's entertaining & really well written. Something a little different that paranormal readers need to read. The poems are enlightening & highly enjoyable. A brilliant book by a brilliant author, thank you.
A collection of vampire poetry, really. As I was reading the collection, I couldn't help imagining an old beatnik bar. A smoked-filled cellar with a small stage with a poet wearing a beret, smoking a cigarette, recites his poetry as the audience snaps its fingers. It is time to drop out and tune in, man. Except these poets are vampires and their drug of choice is human blood. The poems seem to vibrate between vampires who hate their existence and long for release to vampires extolling the total wonder of their undead existence.
I can't honestly say that I'm a huge fan of vampires. I don't think being bitten would be that appealing. Eternal (undead) life isn't all that it is cracked up to be. So I tend to want to smack any vampire that whines about his tormented existence. On the other hand, I really can't go along with those vampires saying, "I am like a god now" either. Life isn't that bad really. I always think of those people with terminal illnesses that decide to make the most of the time they have left. They would tell vampires to go bite themselves because they have things to do.
But I can see how vampires would appeal to some. For those people, this collection of poetry will be perfect. So if you are in the pro-vampire camp, grab your beret, (skip the cigarettes, they kill non-vampires) and get those fingers to snapping.
This collection of poems was a brilliant idea! totally unique, I was captivated by the first line and couldn't stop reading until I reached the end.
My favorite one was Blood and Friendship, which talks about loneliness of existence. "I want to know your hopes your dreams, your fears... just beautiful!
Paranormal poetry may not be everyone's cup of tea, or blood :P But after deciding to write poetry told from the point of view of vampires, I had a blast writing this. Another poetry book is in the works.
