When you think you’ll never fit it, never be whole, love can show you a truth you’ve never seen.

Adal has been abused all of his life. The only person who cared for him was his brother, Steven. Without him, Adal would have been killed long ago. After he and Steven are sent on a mission for their twisted father, they learn they’ve been pawns in an evil plot all along. And that their father has been slowly killing them, one pill at a time.

Steven leaves Adal to seek revenge, and secure safety for them in the world. Adal is astounded to find out he has a mate. A halfbreed like him shouldn’t have anyone to love, should he?

Dorso Rodriguez doesn’t know what hit him, literally or figuratively. A fun-loving guy, he wakes up with a knot on his head and a strange, sexy, scarred man who’s scared and defiant and intriguing.

Together they embark on a journey to defeat the demons from Adal’s past.

Reader Advisory: This book contains BDSM and references to past physical abuse.

A few things about me...

I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.

And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there's something specific you'd like to know, and spare you from reading a boring bio:D

Hide is the first book in a new series from Bailey Bradford, however this book is connected to another series -- which I did not read. Had I known this, I would have started with the other series first. Anyhow, Hide is a shifter story that is well-paced, highly erotic, with interesting characters, gut wrenching heartache, very intense situations, and of course some plot twists. It kept me intrigued and engaged. So why only 3 stars? Instalove. I just can't grasp the instalove situation, even with shifters - especially in characters who have not had an easy life. They are going to need more emotional connection in the long run and trust less easily than portrayed here.

Maybe I missed out on stuff in the connecting series.. However, if you don't mind instalove, this is a great book for you!

No child should be mistreated, or worse, abused, by anyone, and definitely not by their parents. What Adal and his brother Steven have had to suffer at the hands of their bastard of a father is unfathomable. And when they finally free themselves (which must have happened in one of the books of the previous series ‘Leopard’s Spots), the battle may be won but the war for justice is by no means over. This is the story of Adal’s fight for a self-confidence he never had, and his discovery of a love he thought he didn’t deserve.

Adal has gone through hell at the hands of his father. Called a halfblood (since he is a cross between a puma and his leopard father), he has suffered emotional and physical abuse to the point where his father has left scars all over his body and was trying to slowly poison him. Now that he is no longer taking the pills he is facing withdrawal and weird aftereffects. Luckily, Dorso is there to help him, and they find a wolf shaman who can help. Still, much of the battle Adal faces is psychological as he adjusts to a world he has never experienced before.

Dorso has no idea what hit him until Adal admits it was his brother. All of that happened before they found out Dorso was a good guy and were freed from the bonds to their tyrant of a father. Dorso has no idea what he is in for; he doesn’t even know shifters are real. But he is also a realistic man, and when faced with the evidence of Adal shifting into a pumapard, he begins to accept his new reality with relative ease. One thing is certain: he is inanely attracted to Adal and quickly falls for him. Adal couldn’t have a better partner in his corner!

If you liked the ‘Leopard’s Spots’ series and want to see how some of the secondary characters are doing, if you enjoy reading about different kinds of shifters and the villains they face – not always of the human variety, and if you’re looking for an intense, hot read of the paranormal persuasion, then you will probably like this novel.

Leopard Spots Spin off
3.5 to 4 stars...

Ok didn't take much to figure the spin off part out, though for a brand new reader... not sure how lost they may become simply with characters. Some events probably wouldn't make sense if you weren't familiar with the series.

Being a slow start to warm up for me, I certainly found it interesting to have a new cat to explore with pumapards (who have no spots). Too bad the cover didn't have a reasonable depiction of one on it.

Seeing as the mate is human in this one, I was surprised to see more of the harsher side of mating than I expected. Nothing too out of control but marking and a little claw digging is in there. With Adal's abusive background, we see a lot of growth in him with the support and love of his mate. Though at times I did find the self struggle annoying.. or perhaps the monologue to self over it? hmm...

Should be interesting to see how this works out when the brothers end up fully healed of their physical abuse and how it may work being a mix of two cats. Do they actually HAVE two spirits? Or one spirit that is also a mix like they are? Are they in fact much more stronger and hardier (when healthy) than 'purebreeds'? Those of us that choose to continue should get these answers (hopefully) answered over time...

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for a Wicked Reads~~

This is the first in a new series, but does follow on and tie in with a previous series. I haven't read any, and slotted quite happily into the story-line.

I enjoy a good paranormal romance, and this has plenty of the elements that make such books a success. We are introduced to a good number of characters, so that we get a bigger picture, and can imagine what will entertain us in future episodes, as well as having a couple to champion. Here we meet Adal, who has had a terrible life to date, but who has found his mate and that changes everything. It is a revelation to Dorso, the human who is fated to be Adal's from now on. For Dorso to go from player, to the mate of a severely damaged, but inherently beautiful man is a challenge, but he never wavers. The chemistry is definitely present, and Adal's innocence is corrupted in the most delicious of fashions.

Thank you Ms Bradford for a good start to a new series!

I was severely saddened by this book. no where did it tell me it was a spin off, so the entire time trying to figure out who these people were and what was going on. it felt like we started in the middle of the action and we ended before the story was complete. also, every other scene was a sex scene.

It's an extended sex scene interrupted sporadically by plot. I skim or skip sex scenes. A human quickly adapts to the existence of paranormal beings when he meets his mate, a leopard/puma shifter. The shifter has an abusive father/cult leader and self-esteem issues. Some friendly shifters, the human's family, and a shaman help him heal and evade capture.
It's loosely connected to the other books in the series that I have read, with some common characters.
Typos: to for so, extra word, end-quote punctuation errors, less for fewer.

Hide is the story of Adal, a character we first got to meet in Isaiah, book 4 in the Leopard’s Spots series. Adal and his brother Steven are “aberrations”, mixed breed shifters that were never supposed to exist and have been abused and poisoned by their psychopath father. Adal never thought he could have a mate, and his world is turned upside down when he finds Dorso. Dorso is a bit rough around the edges, and more than a little surprised by the reality of shifters and fated mates, but his rapidly growing devotion to Adal, and vice versa, makes for a captivating read

Really liked Adal and Dorso ❤ buuuut...a lot of sex and the story moved really slowly. Bearing I mind this /is/ an erotica novel so I guess that justifies the amount of sex in this book but I would've liked a lot more actual plot development.

The story was fine but there were a lot of mistakes, i.e. referring to Sully as an Amur and then stating he was a snow leopard.

There was a lot of build up of the family dynamics with no hint at resolution - not a fan of leaving the reader hanging.

I need to stop trying to read books about were-people/animals. It's really not my thing.

Also, this was some seriously lazy writing.

Great story and characters. The begining of the book is not as we might expect and I really loved that.
I already started the next book of the series: Hunt.

I’ve read a couple of this author’s works before and I’ve like her work before so I figured that I’d like this new series as well. I was right.

Adal is this leopard/puma mix who has had the WORST Childhood EVER!! He’s looked at as a freak and worthless because of being mixed breed. Adal has only one person who loves him, his older brother Steven. They were on a mission for their worthless, abusive father in kidnapping Isaiah, a leopard shifter for breeding purposes. Adal meets his own mate, Dorso during this time and his brother, Steven leaves him with his mate in order to be safe while Steven goes to Kill their father, Bashaun.

Adal is quite frankly this really sweet guy whose life has been filled with nothing but abuse and heartbreak. He only has one person whom he loves, his older brother Steven. Now he’s now got a mate and that he’ll get to love, if only they can hide from his father’s assassins. Adal is so gentle and kind. It’s so heartbreaking to see this sweet guy whose life was filled with nothing but abuse heartbreak. He’s got such a gentle soul and you just want to wrap him up in your arms and tell him that everything is going to be ok. Adal has had it beaten into him that he’s worthless and that hate-filled voice is always in his head. Adal has a journey ahead of himself that he’ll only get through with the help of others and himself.

Dorso Rodriguez is a mechanic that works for Isaiah and is kidnapped along with Isaiah and Isaiah’s mate, Bae. He wakes up with a headache and a mate, Adal. Dorso is the love’em and leave’em type of guy. Dorso has a wonderfully big, loud and very loving family and he never thought that he’d be the type of guy to settle down. That is until he meets Adal. The mate bond wraps itself around him. Dorso learns what it means to be a man in love. Dorso is a really good guy who just hasn’t found the man who completes him. He loves his famiy and his friends but never thought he’d find the man for him. Dorso is a good man and he does whatever Adal needs in order for him to feel safe and loved. He helps to keep Adal calm and happy. Dorso will move heaven and earth to keep those he loves safe.

These two guys have so much working for them and yet, a lot working against them. They are on the run from Adal’s father and his henchmen. They have to find a way to survive not only the assassins and help Adal’s body fight against the poison in his body that his father was giving him and Steven. These two guys are so perfect for each other. Adal’s sweetness and heart and Dorso’s bravery and courage. I love them together. They compliment each other and their love for each other grows while they are getting to know each other and fighting not only to stay alive but to be able to live their lives as a mated couple.

The secondary characters in this book were just wonderful. They did nothing but show love and support for our MC’s. They helped them in any way that they could. I really loved Dorso’s mama. She was a great character. She’s what a mama should be. Loves her family and wants to know that he’s loved in return.

I will say that at the beginning, it was a bit confusing about what was going on. I figured it out, but not having read the story prior, it was a bit of information that was thrown in. It was like walking into a movie halfway through. I didn’t find it odd, just a bit confusing. It passed quickly, so it wasn’t a big deal.

There was a bit of sex in this book. It was nice and it moved the story along. It wasn’t gratuitous by any stretch. There was a bit of light BDSM in this story, not a lot.

Hide is the first book in the Spotless series, and is evidently a spin-off to another series by this author, which I didn't discover until after reading this book. I tend to shy away from spin-off's unless I have read the original series, because more often than not, they're difficult to follow if you haven't read the first one. Unfortunately I hadn't read the previous series, and there were several times where I felt like I was missing something, but not enough to be completely in the dark. The story was pretty easy to follow, but it was the lack of background on most of the characters that made it difficult to understand sometimes.

This had a really good storyline that I enjoyed, interesting characters, insta-love/mating, lots of sizzling hot sex, heartbreaking circumstances, intense situations, and intriguing twists that kept the pages turning to see what happened next. Adal and Dorso were mates and were instantly together, they both felt an instinctual pull towards the other, but they still tried to hold some things back to get to know one another better, which made their relationship more believable.

Learning about Steven, Adal's brother, from Adal throughout this story was intriguing, but I would have liked to have seen him in this story at some point, at least in the beginning, to make his character more real. I would like to continue with this series to see what happens to him, and if he is successful in his mission to terminate their psychotic father.
I would recommend this book.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Hide by Bailey Bradford was intense, erotic yet heartbreaking. This was a great book and I enjoyed it immensely.

Adal has lived an awful life; full of physical/emotional abuse. His body shows the evidence of the horrors he's faced. He never thought it possible that an abomination like him, would ever be fated to have a mate. Dorsa was knocked out cold and there's no doubt that he's his mate but will he want a weak, mixed breed shifter like him?

Dorsa has woken up to find a gorgeous man standing before him. He's drawn to him but his minds so foggy; what the hell happened to him - why does his head hurt so much?

Will Dorsa accept or reject Adal as his mate?

Danger lurks in every corner; Adal's father wants to kill him and his brother Steven. Adal needs to keep his mate safe but will he succeed? Something is happening to Adal; something doesn't feel right but what's wrong with him?

My heart broke for Adal; the scars covering his body, show years of abuse he suffered and it literally bought tears to my eyes. His past has left deep emotional scars, making him doubt his worthiness. The author captured his fears and insecurities beautifully.

Dorsa surprisingly takes the mate news really well. Dorsa was amazing; he becomes the rock Adal needs him to be. He's supportive, caring and stands by his side; becoming Adal's strength. Adal's life has had too many lows and now Dorsa plans to change that by making lots of happy memories together. These two had explosive chemistry- it was sizzling hot.

Dorsa's mum made me laugh with her crazyness.

The shaman walking in whilst Adal and Dorsa were naked was really funny especially, when they started searching for a blanket to cover up but end up banging heads in their haste lol.

Hide was funny, steamy and exciting. The characters had sufficient emotional depth and were developed really well. This was a fantastic read and I'm definitely adding this author to my favourite list.

Mixed breed leopard/puma shifter half-brothers Adal and Steven grew up under their brutal, tyrannical leopard shifter father Bashuan. They would bear the scars he or his men inflicted for the rest of their lives. Older brother Steven chose to take the brunt of their punishments to protect his tenderhearted little brother.

Sent to Denver on a forced shifter retrieval mission the brothers finally make the decision to break free. Steven leaves to confront and kill Bashuan in order to prevent repercussions to Adal and his newly discovered mate, a human mechanic Dorso Rodriquez.

Unfortunately Steven attacked Dorso before the brothers saw a way free. It’s not the best beginning to a mating between virginal Adal and Dorso. The human has to deal with hopefully forgiving Steven and accept that shifters exist. It certainly doesn’t help that Dorso has a hell of a headache from Steven.

If Dorso can deal with everything he’s being told maybe, just maybe he can take it slow and easy with Adal because the shifter is sick. The pills his father lied to the brothers about and made them take are making them sick. If they can’t get help for the damage that’s been done Dorso won’t have to worry about a mate for long.

It is the healing of mind and body, the struggle to find value in one self through the eyes of love. Take heart in Adal’s story of Hide. There’s humor and sizzle, sass and sorrow. Adal and Dorso have a rough start in Hide. No argument. Love shines through in this imaginative and emotional romance.

Worthless! Adal had been mentally programmed all through his childhood to believe that he and his brother Steven were too unworthy to live. Meeting human Dorso Rodriguez and discovering Dorso is his mate; Adal begins to break free of the crippling lies along with the toxins inflected by his evil father.

Hide is the first book in the Spotless series, which is a spinoff of the Leopard's Spots series. The main connecting character from the previous series is Isaiah. In this episode, Dorso works at Snow leopard Isaiah’s auto repair shop. Adal and his older brother Steven have been sent to abduct Isaiah’s mate, Amur leopard Bae.

Adal is a dual breed cat shifter with a down trodden personality because of his abusive childhood, yet he is a compassionate man. Adal lives in constant fear of his father, he is reluctant to fight, but will kill anyone who threatens Dorso.

Although Dorso is human, he is strong as well as very protective of Adal. Dorso has a big open-minded family who only want to see him settled into a long term relationship.

Bailey Bradford has created an enjoyable introduction to a new series. I found Adal’s dual breed combination as well as the dual blending of series’ characters intriguing. There are not a lot of battle scenes in this installment; however the intimacy scenes are scorching. I suggest reading the Leopard's Spots series first to fully enjoy Hide.

While I'm sure you could read this and enjoy it on its own, this new series is an off shoot of the leopard' s spots series and things will make more sense if you've read those before. This particular book features characters introduced in Isaiah and I was really happy to see them. Adal and his brother went through so much and its really nice that they're getting their own books; I personally found this one to be very enjoyable and I look forward to Steven's story next.

Now, I did have someone on Amazon blast my review, someone who hadn't even finished the book, and I did post a response so if you disagree with my assessment, feel free to read on.

While it's true that Adal did go back and forth on his progression as a character, I found that understandable with the life he'd led and the abuse he'd suffered. *shrugs* I was happy with where the book ended and, even if there wasn't as much action in this particular book, I expect it in the next one. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I try and reserve mine until I've finished reading and, quite frankly, if every single novel followed exactly like the one before, that would be more boring to me.

Off the bat, I felt like I was missing part of the story. Even though this is book one in the series, it turns out that all the characters were featured in another series. A little Goodreads surfing reveals that Isaiah is an important part of the story and there are probably others as well. Having said that, I didn't feel like I was missing so much that I was lost. It just bothered me a bit because I could tell there were a lot of backstories. I don't have the patience to go back and read those first at the moment, so I forged ahead.

There was a lot of sex in this book. That's not a bad thing, but I did kind of wish there was more talking and getting to know each other. Again, maybe if you read the other series you wouldn't be in the dark about the characters so much.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I liked it, but not so much that I am dying to read the rest in this series or go back to the previous series just yet. I will keep them in mind when I feel like reading a shifter romance, but am fine waiting until the mood strikes.

This book is well written. I love the way Dorso is so protective of Adal. Dorso is understanding, and would do anything to make Adal feel protected. If you like shifters, humans and a fight for love then you will like the book. I just hope there is a second so I can find out what happens to Steven.

The first book in the new shifter series by Bailey Bradford is a riveting and heart gripping m/m romance. There are several events going on at once that keeps the reader’s hopping and of course invites the reader back to read the next story in the series. This one definitely captures the heart and I can’t wait to read Steven’s story and find out what happens on his journey to confront their father.

This was a nice first book in a spin-off to the 'Leopard's Spots' series. Adal and his brother, Steven, have been horribly abused by their father, something no child should suffer. Adal and Steven are half leopards and half pumas, or pumapards, as they call themselves.

It was sweet to watch Adal find happiness, love, and contentment with Dorso. The next book is Steven's and should be good, too.

This was a hot mess that had the makings of a decent shifter story but every chapter had a 'are you kidding me' moment or a 'WTF' sigh and it just never really ended...or did it? It did for me. To be honest there were just too many things wrong to explain why this was a thumbs-down for me

I really enjoy this author and the continued series. But, I am confused about Remus. In this book Bobby, the Alpha, referred to Remus as being straight. he already had a mate in the Spots series with the book called Cliff. what happened?
