The author did an excellent job in writing and keeping your interest in this book. The plot kept you going for more, the characters were well defined, entertaining and enjoyable. A well written good clean story for all ages.
It took me a few days to finish the book only because I was traveling. Had I been home I would not have put it down. I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading books two and three of this trilogy by this new author. Some parts of the story are a little slow and seemed strained. But overall it was a good historical read. The end was a little bland but left me wanting to know how married life at Riverbreeze is going to be for the brothers and their twin wives. Four stars for this debut novel.
I very much enjoyed this book even though it's not my normal type of book. I can't wait to start book two. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about the early history of living in America.
This is a good story. It is fast paced, the characters were interesting and believable. I'm looking forward to reading the second and third books in this series. It will be fun to find out what happens to these two young couples as they start there lives together. If you like historical novels, give this trilogy a try, I really liked the first book.
The first in a trilogy of the founding of a American family in 1600s America.
What I liked: It has great possibility with its plot. I think it will be a good trilogy. What I dislike: It was repetitious in places. I wondered if it was a technique to keep something in front of the reader that would prove valuable later. In this section of the trilogy, it wasn't part of the plot.
Will I keep reading it? Yes, it wasn't bad; as I said, there is great possibility.
I love this novel because I wrote it. I love Virginia history and the James River area including Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. Great characters, great drama and historical details. Read Parts 2 and 3 to complete the entire novel.
I LOVED this book!!! I devoured part 1 (which was free) and then purchased parts 2 and 3. Finished those in no time! If you like historical romances, you should definitely read this series. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I wasn't!!
This book was amusing but to fast moving. The descriptions of the era were questionable as well as the attitude and personalities described. My mind was not able to picture the moments as well as I would have liked.
Enjoyed the historical content. Characters are believable.
Interesting to find a pre-African Slave era of plantation life, and how it transfered over from the indentured servants who earned their freedom and some property.
