Oh, I love this! I can’t believe how amazing this was! The characters and the storyline were awesome! I was taken aback by the ending and kind of sad at the way it played out, but overall I’ll give it a 4.5/5! I loved the smut and harem aspect! Yummy! Can’t wait for book 2!

This one is hard to describe. If you break it down, there are mainly 2 parts to the story. The high-tech genius guy crash lands on an alien world and uses his new cool invention to survive. Then there is the harem part of the story. Both parts are really good, but I don't see how they go together. It is about 1000 years in the future and the MC is a 24-year-old genius working on a spaceship. He is working on this new space suit but is having problems with the power source. The other 3 people on the ship are useless. Typical jock and sorority girl behavior. He does all the work, and they have all the fun, and they look down on him. The ship crashes on an alien planet and is need of repair. A monster comes on the ship and kills one of the people before it is put down. Surprise, surprise, there is a plot point where the alien creature has the exact energy signature his new invention needs to work. There are risks, so he holds off on initiating it. That is until another creature comes back and kills the other 2 members of the crew and wounds the MC. He uses the device, but it doesn't work as intended. It is supposed to be an external suit, but it somehow grafted to his cells along with his AI to change his body. His AI pops up stats for him and gives him a training program so he can get stronger. This is interesting because it makes sense. The device can do so much more but his body is too weak. He needs to train it and integrate the device to him more so he can use more capabilities.

So far, all that makes sense. I like the logical approach to the story. Then comes the sex. He finds and saves an alien woman, and she is very aroused by him. She wants sex and wants it bad. Not sure if it is the changes from the device or what but he went from a shy nerdy guy to alpha male bad ass pretty quick. Then it turns out that the women on this planet get energy from a man's semen to get stronger and protect themselves. There doesn't seem to be many men. She wants sex all the time and she want him. Her tribe comes to help, and they have the same reaction to him. It isn't just about the semen either. He is not a typical man. Most men on this world sit back and let the women fight. He is helping them by repairing the equipment and then fighting. This leads to even more hero worship and lust. From a male fantasy POV, this is great. But from a logical standpoint, which is what the first part of the story had, it didn't make much sense. Why was semen a power source for women on this planet? How does that work?

As I mentioned above, I loved both parts, I just didn't think they melded together that well. Oh, well, just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Buzz kill ending. (TLDR @ END)

You know those moments in stories where the author decides the MC has had it too good and decides he should be out-of-character stupid for the next scene? Yeah, that's the ending to this book. And it's a cliff hanger.

It was not the most aggregious I've seen. The failure was somewhat plossible but little effort was expended to make the reader understand and appreciate the circumstances. It especially doesn't make sense with what followed after the first failure.

Besides that, the book is just compelling enough. There's parts that are cool and rivetting like the origin of his powers (Minus the 'sciency' words. Though I've seen much worse).

The beginning was disturbingly complete in it's finality, which almost made it feel disconected from the rest of the book. The MC genuinley seemed like a different person at times. It still worked for me though, just could have been better.

The rest of the plot almost felt like a more riveting version of Michael Dalton's ~marooned on planet goblin~ book (don't remember the actual name). Dalton's prose was better and the intimate scenes were better. However, it felt like he got lost in the apocolyptic wasteland sometimes. To be fair, this one didn't have as much of a chance to get lost quite yet. I found myself more attached to these characters though.

Which is why the ending was so disturbing to me. The threat level shown in that scene says there shouldn't be anyone left anymore. Like, at all. Not to mention breaking physics and biology in ways that says "Hi" to the rest of the science fiction of the book as they lap them... repeatedly. In the end it just surpassed my threshold for 'BS stupidity of MC/situation and bad things happening' as compared to the depth, complexity, realism, and how positively moving the theme is for the book. I can appreciate some dark stuff when in the right package. A moderately good example is Bruce Sentar's "Saving Supervillains." There are better examples out there but you get the idea.

All in all I'm unsure if I'll read book 2...
Probably will...
But I'll be reading it in protest!

Yeah no. Nope. You're telling me that Raymond (who is the entire reason they end up crashed in the first place) runs away, pushing Jennifer away to die... And then in the next scene after the danger he is gone, he just walks up to her, gropes her a little, and her anger with him just evaporates? And then they go off to have a romp, rather than help Taylor fix the ship or sort out any problems. ARE. YOU. FUCKING. KIDDING. ME?

That's immersion breaking levels of "this is not how people act, no matter what universe you find yourself in - for $500 Alex". Sorry not sorry.

I liked it and I hope there’s another

For the author: there was a section. Where are you repeated a sense twice. Just a quick edit and you’re good to go.

Made it through this because it was short. Mostly sex, and it may have been as much as 50% of this short book. Skimming most of that is one of the reasons I got done so quickly, and I'm not sure if Book 2 is worth it. I figure I'll give it a try to at least follow up on the abrupt ending of book 1, but no promises from there.

Excellent Story

Taylor, crashed on a planet with hideous creatures and desperate groups of people struggling to survive. The story is fast paced, filled with action , adventure and enough spice to fill a rack. How will Taylor survive? I'm looking forward to the next book!

Lazy writing…

I’m sorry I just couldn’t finish it. Not o my is it short but the writing and especially the dialogue is so bad. I am fairly lenient when rating books in this genre since I know what I am getting into and set my expectations accordingly. But this is just low tier. One of the first 10 sentences the MC says to the first woman he meets is “Suck it!”. Please put some more effort into this; it’s books like this that bring the whole genre down.
