*I received a copy of the eBook in exchange for an honest review from Lovers of Paranormal (LOP).*

DNA is a unique paranormal fiction. Abel Mason is eighteen years old and is experiencing changes mentally and physically. He tends to be reckless in his decision-making and this worries his older brother Matt. Abel hides these changes from his suspicious brother. Matt has his own secrets and wants to protect his younger brother but at what cost.

There are time gaps in the novel and the reader does not really know what happens during these breaks. Abel voice is strong and distinct.

The brothers discover that they are on opposite sides of the rebellion. Who is ‘The Lady’? What is the role of ‘The Order’? Is Abel a reluctant superhero or is he a monster?

This book ends with a cliffhanger. The reader will want to read the next book to find out the outcome.

I received a free copy of this book from the LOP on Goodreads in exchange for an honest review.

I am going to follow the Goodreads star system with this book, and give it three stars (liked it). And as usual, here's what I enjoyed, and what I didn't, presented to you in the form of as a numbered list.

Likes

1)The story idea: The whole world around DNA was solidly built, and I felt that the author had a pretty good grasp about where she wanted to go with the book. The plot was interesting enough to keep me reading, and I finished the whole book in 1.5 hours. The length was adequate, and served the purpose.

2)The main character: Abel's kind is usually underrepresented as main characters in fiction. This is why I loved him. He seems to be based on the archetype of the tragic hero, but well, he is isn't. He may have a sob backstory, to make the reader feel sympathy. He may have made a huge sacrifice at the end. He may have been hurt by life. He may not be completely in control of his actions.
Despite this, the fact remains that he has made some completely stupid decisions in his life, and many of his problems could be avoided if he was smarter. And this is why I like the character. He is different, but not in the special snowflake kind of way.

3)Elijah: What an interesting and shady character! I would love to read a novel from his POV, to be honest.

4) The sibling relationship: One of the best characterization of sibling relationships that I've ever read. Good job!

Dislikes

1)The writing style: This is probably just me, but at the beginning, I hated how the book used too many superfluous phrases that could easily be avoided. Just like the little part at the beginning of this review that I have crossed out. I got used to it by the end, and ignored it, but it was still a major irritant and a dampener to my enjoyment of the story.

2)The prologue: Again, another thing that seemed to have no point. The book is a series, so it will probably be picked up later on, but as of now, it severed no purpose to the overall story. The book would have been much polished without it.

3) The ending: Once again, this is another thing that probably irritated just me, because I hadn't expected the book to be a series. It lacked closure and I was very surprised by it... until I realized DNA was a series. I guess this is just my fault, but the story was kind of left hanging there.

4) Lack of detail: Another thing that I would have liked, was more detail about the mutation, more detail about the resistance, the order, perhaps a bit of history, and more side-story involving the oh-so-mysterious Lady. Luckily, the central story line kept the book interesting enough. Without it, there was a serious chance of this book falling flat due to the lack of above mentioned detail.

Overall, a quick, one shot, intriguing, slightly thrilling, and mildly irritating-at-times read.
There is a high possibility I will continue with the series just to see how it ends.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).

I really wanted to love this book, however, I can't ignore the fact that it looks rushed and the story line chaotic. The plot would have been great because of the multiple characters and their different abilities, but when you're at the peak of anticipation on what's coming, the characters end up dead. I just don't get the logic of having multiple characters in the first few chapters and then let them die without any explanation. Well, maybe this will be explained in the next book. I just don't like the idea of having the first book in a series full of cliffhangers, which only leave the readers confused. The author may have assumed that this will leave the readers wanting more. It really does spike your interest on what will happen in the next book and I hope it will turn out better than this one.

I really like the plot and concept of this book. I do feel a little rushed reading it and I admit the characters were not that deeply developed. The main character was a little tough to like. I think there is some room to expand on this one.

But even with all that said, I did really like this book and have every intention on reading the other two parts. I really love the subject matter and the plot and am very curious what will come next. I know the subject matter has been used over and over again, but i do think this is a different way of approaching it all and am curious how the author will work all this one out and bring more to the table.

I have received this book for an honest review from the author (LoP, lovers of the paranormal).

This book was a disappointment for me. I wanted to love it, but I couldn't ignore how rushed and all over the place it felt. With so many characters who are mutants, I was expecting to read about all types of abilities (similar to the X-Men), but the story focused mainly on Abel, which is understandable to a certain extent since he is supposed to be the most powerful mutant. The story still could have used more development. The characters as well as the plot line. Maybe this will be done in the 2nd book. I hope the next book won't be as rushed as this one.

** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Lovers of Paranormal, LoP**

DNA was an exciting quick read for me. First off, I am not a fan of cliffhangers. But overall, this was a good read. I liked the storyline. The way it played out was well written. The characters were very interesting and the paranormal abilities were pretty cool. I look forward to reading Book 2. A good add to your tbr list.

I like this kinda genre. Someone who has super power and is becoming chicks magnet...even it's so common or obvious but still it attracts me in many ways. The author did a good job in creating characters and setting the plot. I don't have any complaint about it. The conversations between one another flow naturally, which I like the most. Overall, reading DNA by Cyma Rizwaan Khan definitely worth spending time. Recommend this? For sure I will do that.
