The One Handed Crossed Swords Edition Series - Halloween Novella
What do you get when you cross an ancient spellbook, boxes of strange ingredients, and a giant, creepy rune carved into the attic floor?
A warlock, as Rory is quick to discover. With the rest of his life in shambles, he embraces his new identity. A few simple spells here, a couple of potions there, some charms to make life a little easier... no big deal.
Right?
His experiments with witchcraft lead him to a botched spell and a sassy—and sexy—demon houseguest that turns his world upside down. Rory's limited magical knowledge means he’s scrambling to find a way to return him to Hell...
And all he wants to do is offer Rory a taste of Heaven.
Author's This is an 18+ erotic novella based loosely on holiday themes. Read accordingly.
G. Eilsel started writing under this pen name in early 2024, publishing works in two genres she loves: eccentric novellas and MM romance.
Her writing puts a focus on sarcasm, snarky humor, sometimes horrible puns, and steamy scenes that'll make your momma blush. Expect heavy spice, in any sort of variety you're looking for-sweet, emotional, depraved, or downright questionable.
Some of her books are one-handed reads with minimal plot, others are more intricate stories that weave themselves through her brain and demand to be put on paper. Angsty and emotional, light and giggle-inducing, and everything in between can be found between the covers of her books.
She doesn't take herself too seriously, throwing pieces of her humor and quirky personality in her writing. If she can't live up to her title of a One-Handed author, then maybe she can at least make you smile.
This book was unexpected in the best way. I did know I needed this one and yet I really did. I found myself cackling way more times than I thought possible for such a short story but that's what these characters did. Don't get me wrong the spice was spicy but it was also really hilarious. I absolutely adored the ride.
It was alright. I liked Cas, he was a troublemaking brat. Add Amon to the mix and the MC stood no chance getting out of that demon sandwich. Plenty of smut but the highlight was the demons out and about in the human world panicking over non magic.

I expected a spicy MM+ novella with just enough plot to have a storyline. What I didn’t expect was how much I would giggle when reading this! The interactions between the three main characters had many moments of hilarity and several spicy scenes. The plot is thin and character bonds form quickly, but that is expected with a spicy novella. A fun little read just in time for spooky season.
Non-spoiler summary: When curly-haired, red-headed Rory inherits his Granny’s house, he doesn’t expect to find a spell book and potion ingredients, or find that Shadow, his Granny’s cat, seems to have answers to questions Rory didn’t even know he had. When life throws another blow at him, Rory turns to a good luck spell. Only things don’t go at all the way he expected! As two sexy demons burst into his life, Rory finds himself considering if maybe the spell worked afterall.
I just started this book, so maybe this is completely unfair, but I noticed the author noted that she also had a M/F version of this book. And then we get to the scene where he’s sitting in the kitchen, “pulling on his red curls”, eating a spoon of peanut butter for dinner and smiling to himself as he realizes he’s not *really* alone because he has his cat who he loves so much…and I thought, “Oh, she definitely just swapped the names and body part descriptions and kept everything else the same, huh?” 😳 Which could totally be untrue, because like I said, I just started the book. And it’s not that men can’t eat peanut butter and have red hair and cats they love, but the way it was written just felt like such a quintessential “quirky woman in a movie” moment that it was out of place for a male character.
And I think that’s what bothers me about it the most, actually. That because the character is supposed to be a cute, fem twink, we can just take a book written about a woman, slap a man’s name and pronouns on it and say it’s about a man, now? Gay men are still men, with their own experiences and characteristics. They’re not interchangeable with women.
3.5⭐️ Rory inherits his grandma’s old house and magic mumbo jumbo, and accidentally summons two (2) hot, enormous demons. Cas is a big himbo, and Amon is a cocky demon with a soft side.
This book is definitely heavy on the spice and low on the plot. The plot is really flimsy, and the characters are inconsistent and immature. However, if you’re looking for a silly, low-stakes plot with lots of MMM demon fun times, then definitely read this book 😂
"For a second, my face wrinkles up like I'm looking at a baby hellcat. He's so stinking cute!"
"See no evil, hear no evil, only do enough evil to have fun."
"Logic dies a slow, stupid death when faced with gray sweatpants and a big d***."
"What a predicament to find myself in, caught between these two beautiful men. A demon bread sandwich stacked with juicy red meat. Woe is me."
"Whatever you need, whenever you need it...it's yours. All you've ever had to do was ask."
OMG, this book was so good. This was such a spicy, hilarious, and sweet book. I was laughing so hard throughout this entire book. The spicy scenes were so deliciously hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥. This author did amazing with this series!
This story follows Rory, Casimir, and Amon. Rory inherited his grandmother's house and belongings as she had just passed. He found a bunch of spell books and charms. He decided to experiment on some as he is down on his luck and lonely in life. He accidently summons Casimir. Later on, Cas summons his buddy Amon. Things get heated and spicy between all three. Once these demons lock eyes on their human, it's over.
Cas was such a funny character. He was a himbo, sweet, golden retriever. I loved his passion for everything. Amon was more serious, guarded, and didn't like to show weakness. He ended up being a big protective teddy bear. Rory was an insecure man who didn't think he deserved them. These three were perfect for each other. I loved how vulnerable and sweet they all got. I loved how they all had different relationships with each other, but all loved each other. Don't even get me started on the heat and spice between all three of them 🔥🔥🔥🔥🥵😉😏. Such a phenomenal book!
Character Development: 3/5 This was a short novella so no much character development. Just enough to get a basic understanding of the characters. Plot: 3/5 The plot was mostly surrounding Rory's relationships with his demons Cas and Amon. I would have liked to see more of Rory connecting with his magic and understanding he is a warlock. Writing Style: 3/5 The book contained no grammatical or spelling errors Spice Level: 3/5 The spice was good. Two demons x 1 human. Of course they get into some naughty fun. The book was mostly based around their spicy relationship. Overall Rating: 3.5/5 This was good short read. A good release around Halloween. I love paranormal and demons falling for humans does it for me.
Tropes: • Demons x Human • Warlock • Size difference • MMM • HEA
Cheating: Third-act breakup: POV: Triple POV (First Person POV) I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I've been in such a slump lately, and this was everything I needed.
When I say hilarious, I mean side-splitting, tears on my cheeks hilarious at some of the antics. It was a little over the top, but that's my favorite type of humor. Eilsel warns that there's more smut than substance in this one, and while there is A LOT of on page spicy fun, there was enough story to develop each voice individually, which can be a struggle when you're dealing with three POVs.
They all complemented each other perfectly. Cas with his goofiness and curiosity, Amon with his grumpy exterior and protective nature, and Rory with his patience and sweetness.
There was little about this book that I didn't love, and at under 200 pages, I read it in a single sitting, giggling and kicking my feet the whole time.
This book is smutty, smutty SMUTTY MMM delicious fun. Have to say this one may be the best yet from this series due to the ending. The rest of the series there really isn't a full HEA. This one has one which I loved! Now on to the nitty gritty
Plot/ world building - don't expect one. This is pure one handed, buzzy friend needed smut. The story is cute, hot AF, but no real depth. I knew this going into it thanks to reading the rest of the series, but if this is your first don't go into it expecting an award winning story.
This story has 3 swords crossing ⚔️🗡️ in all kinds of configurations. If guys together is not your thing, give this one a pass.
Basis- guy inherited his Granny's house. She was a witch. He didn't know it. She left him her grimouir which he used and accidentally summoned a demon. Lots of smut and other fun ensues.
It was cute and had both humorous and sexy moments, but the book left me with several questions. Does Rory not have any other family members besides his granny who had died and left him the house who would want to know how he's doing? Then, after Rory talks to his supposed best friend on the phone at the beginning of the book, she's never mentioned again. Wouldn't she have called again at some point during these weeks he's falling in love with the demons he summoned if they actually are best friends? Also, a big issue for Rory at the start of the book is getting a new job because he didn't want to just depend on his inheritance to pay his bills indefinitely, so has he just forgotten his resolve now that he has his two demon boyfriends and is learning magic? So many questions that don't get answered.
4.5 stars! Some minor spelling errors, but nothing major.
Y'all, when I tell you this book made me cackle. 😂 It was funny, spicy, and swoony. What more could you want? The first 50% has a somewhat story plot/line, but the remainder 50% is mostly just smut. Haha.
I feel it needs to be noted that this book is MMM and NOT MMF. There isn't a single female in this book, unless you count the cat and dead granny.
Tropes MM+ (LGBTQ+) Rom-com Demons with big 🍆 and sensitive horns Sharing with each other (no cheating) Dom/sub-ish. A shitty ex who gets what he deserves A sassy cat who may or may not know how to communicate with humans A warlock who doesn't know he's a warlock Size difference Age-gap (?) I mean... the demon is 300+ years old, so...? HEA guaranteed
A friend recommended G. Eisel's books to me because I was looking for more stories like Cold Fire, and I started with this one because 2 demons + 1 human? Yes.
For a short story, this was perfectly written. There was just enough tension, tons of romance and feelings, plus the smut, my god, the smut. I loved every second I spent with the boys, and my only gripe was the fact that it's a short story and was over too soon! I didn't want to leave, I'm being serious.
This was a great introduction to this author's work, and it made me want to read EVERYTHING. I started Ronan, and I'm already in love. G. Eilsel is now a top tier author on my list, and I can't wait to dive into the universe she created.
We first meet Rory, a young man who's trying to make it in this world when life starts crashing around him. his relationship failed. His Grandma died, and he then he lost his job. Rorys grandmother left him her home and he discovers her spellbook. Let's just say the hilarity that ensues is epic. A summoned demon who has no idea what life on earth is or what idioms are makes this book even better. Then we added in a second summoned demon, and we found he was the anchor to a relationship that we didn't expect. It's a very sweet book, lots and lots of laughter
This novella is the perfect read for when you’re in the mood for spice, humor, and a much more fun reality! Accidental demon summoning, x2, and a whole lot of spice. There was a touch of plot, but if that’s what you’re after rather than a smutty good time, I’d skip this one haha. There is still a bunch of sweetness and love declarations, obvs, so my romantic heart was satisfied. Overall this is the perfect novella to indulge in this spooky season. What better way to embrace the Halloween season than smutty demon love?
The WAY I cackled at this book. Perfect for a short read if you're wanting something for the spooky season that's FILLED with filth and makes you snort-laugh.
Cas accounts for 80% of the giggles in this book, and is my favorite character I've read in a while. It always amazes me when authors manage to bring characters to life in so few pages, but this one did it. Every character was unique and well-developed, and there was enough emotion and sweetness mixed it to make the story feel complete.
When Rory realises his late grandmother was a witch and she left him her spell book and ingredients he decides to try a spell . He doesn’t expect to find Casimir a demon in the summoning circle and he now has to find a spell to send him back . However Cas has other ideas and writes a spell and tells Rory it’s to help him but it summons Amon instead . Loved the banter between them and the way Cas got confused at metaphors was hilarious and this has got to be my favourite quote ever Death by demon d!ck , i can think of worse ways to go can’t you 😆
