Matt Cairone was born in 1958 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He graduated from Holy Spirit High School, Absecon NJ, in 1976. He received a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1980 and a J.D. from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1984. He started the practice of law in Detroit, Michigan in 1984 and moved his practice to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1987. He lives with his wife, Shannon, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
He writes full length novels and short stories, primarily in the literary fiction genre. He also writes lyrics and music. Some of his music, made with his son Charlie under the band name Firth of Lorn, is available on MP3 in the Amazon music store.
His daughter, Lia, was born in 1986 and lives in New York City. His son, Charlie, was born in 1989 and lives with his wife, Alexandra, and their son, Lincoln, in Pittsburgh.
