Previously published as Mr. Hall’s Sunshine by May Alder Revised September 2024 with an added epilogue
All I need is a few seconds of Mr. Hall’s time to sign my maternity leave papers, but every attempt to get him to do so has been met with a cutting eye and sharp refusal. When he threatens to give me permanent maternity leave after my latest attempt, I decide I’ve had enough of his belligerent behavior.
My temper gets the best of me, and after slinging the most ridiculous insults his way, he follows through on his threat to fire me. I can’t afford to lose my job and its generous maternity leave, not since my ex-fiancé abandoned me and our unborn child.
There’s only one quick crazy thing I can think of to hopefully ease Mr. Hall’s maxed-out blood pressure and get him to reverse his decision, and it starts by getting on my knees…
Mister Hall’s Sunshine is a spicy, 9k-word, office romance novelette and is intended for an 18+ audience. Please read the Author’s Note at the beginning of the book. Happily Ever After guaranteed.
May Alder would like to thank her life-long maladaptive daydreaming disorder and rampant #daddyissues for the storylines that have been brewing in her mind for years. Her need to turn them into something productive, a positive instead of a negative, has spurred her to write her stories and release them into the world.
Okay, this book? It’s silly and totally over the top—but in a crackhead energy, soap opera kinda way that lowkey kept me flipping pages like “what the hell are these two doing now?!” 💀
May Alder’s signature MMC game is STRONG in this one. Mr. Hall is your classic grumpy, intense alpha—big, broody, obsessed—but also so damn needy underneath all that steel. Like, literally dropping to his knees, crying, whimpering just to be with his woman. And honestly? That level of emotional desperation? Chef’s kiss, I ate that shit up. 😆
This one’s low-stakes and fast-paced. Don’t go in expecting logic or realism. Go in for the chaos. It’s a short, steamy, messy fun ride—and sometimes that’s exactly the energy you need. 😁
🤰🏼 MF contemporary romance 🤰🏼 Boss/employee office romance 🤰🏼 Grumpy/sunshine 🤰🏼 Cheating (not between the main couple) 🤰🏼 Pregnant FMC (not the MMC's baby) 🤰🏼 Late stage of pregnancy 🤰🏼 Vulgar language 🤰🏼 Low-angst, steamy 🤰🏼 HFN
A different plot line and good writing of the female lead and her POV made this MF an entertaining read. I was thrown for a bit of a loop along with the leading lady at Mr. Hall’s actions toward Sunny.

Ooh I liked this a lot. So hot. I loved how the MMC loved the FMC from the start but couldn’t say it. I need to read more of May Alder. Very quick and spicy read.
"Sunny, my beautiful sunshine. You feel so good, baby."
This was one of those, 'I need something mindless' kind of reads. A palate cleanser if you will. I read a few of these short novellas and this one is probably the shortest one I read of the author's. It is essentially just a spicy scene or two. And it jumps right in with it when the FMC makes a move to get something she wants. Quite the feral MMC who obviously has kept his feelings under wraps and has been a jerk about it! Was ok.
What It's Got: -Erotic Short Novella -Office Romance -Boss/Assistant -Spicy Office Scenes -Secret Crush -Not His Baby, But His Baby (😉)
ALL THREE IN THIS SERIES (I’m not ticking all three as read because i only want one in my yearly count, as all three equal one novella, that’s how short they are!) Pure erotica, let’s be real. I enjoyed this for exactly what they were intended to be. I liked the taboo nature of them and the way things progressed so quickly. I wish each had a better epilogue or extended the HEA a bit more, but I enjoyed them.
I love how sweetly unhinged May Alder's heroes are (also cutely desperate for the heroines), but this one wasn't my favorite. I didn't love how the heroine talked about herself and actions. It was kind of funny, but not very sexy. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that the MMC was in love with her the whole time, but she got knocked up by someone else. I almost wished that they had had a drunken night together at like a staff party or something just so it was really his.
I love May Alder’s books ! And this book is no exception ! It had a really good plot and everything, but the only thing missing (or that gave me a frowny face at least) was that it was a short Novella! This could have easily been a medium length novel if the plot was fully fleshed out. But regardless I loved it !
I don't know what else to say BUT GODDAMN 🤣🤣 If you just want possessive over the MMC who's feral over a heavily pregnant FMC and have HOT SPICY FUCKERY YOU HIT THE JACKPOT BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU MY GUY GIRL AND THEY 🤣🤣
i absolutely loved and devoured this one 👏🏽👏🏽 i’m obsessed with Mr. Hall’s obsession. i also found myself more than once howling from the many names Sunny called Mr. Hall’s ‘member’ 🤣 it was funny, hot, smexy, one hand readable, and such a short read that left me begging for more. we love unhinged Mr. Hall and his sunshine girl!!
Sería la anécdota picante de … cómo es que están juntos ? un momento de euforia y furia se convirtió rápidamente en un caótico y sincera expresión de pasión y anhelo… así comenzó una verdadera historia de amor

Very unrealistic but it gave me a few laughs here and there . I'm getting into short stories - this one.. the character build up and relationship buildup was lame and just odd. Read it just to say I did.

Definitely over the top but such a good read. Enjoyed all the smut fun. I did not read the previous version of this before the edits. However, it seems like rewrite fortified the plot enough to hold all the spice together. A fun read!
The most unhinged smut with the grumpiest grump who is secretly obsessed with his pregnant personal assistant. If May Alder writes it, I'll read it. Forever obsessed with her down bad MMC's and their kinks.
So I blew through May Alder's novelettes in one sitting and I saw the dedication on this one and was a little nervous. Then I read it. And then, I knew I had to review it.
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ONE AND HAD ME CRYING! How could anyone hate this story as much as they did?!?! I loved this with my whole heart and only wish it was a full length novel.
Mr. Hall walks stomps around in anger which keeps his employees on edge. When his assistant needs her maternity leave papers signed, he refuses and she takes matters into her own hands.
