Don’t get caught kissing Surfing Santa beneath the mistletoe.

When I moved back to my cozy little beach town, I wasn’t expecting to be next-door to Nick Watson—my former rival. Especially now that he’s an annoyingly attractive renovation foreman who surfs in a custom Santa-red wetsuit.

To be clear, I’m not falling for his charm. Nope. Not happening. I don’t care how many things he fixes in my crumbling cottage or how good he looks while using power tools. I’ve got a boyfriend, thank you very much, even if our relationship is more strained than a tree branch overloaded with ornaments.

But Nick seems determined to prove he’s not the same man who used to torment me. As the town goes full holiday mode—with tree lightings, Christmas parties, and a competitive karaoke contest—I start to see Nick’s softer side, making it impossible to ignore the sizzling tension between us.

With Christmas just days away, it’s time to make a choice—stick with the guy who’s wrong for me or take a chance on the one who’s been right next door all along.

Enjoy the playful banter, mistletoe kisses, and all the Christmas feels of this former rivals, small town, closed-door/kisses-only holiday novella by grabbing your copy TODAY!
Holiday Tides is a standalone novella that shares characters with the Wilks Beach novels.

The story might be short on length, but it was big on fun, romance , and sweetness!

Nick and Summer went to high school together and were quite competitive with each other. He made her life miserable but he actually had a crush on her that she knew nothing about.

Years later when she comes back to town as a physician, she runs into him again. She thought he’d left to also become a doctor, but he’s working in construction. She comes to find out his life wasn’t as perfect as she had imagined.

Nick is thrilled to see her again and wants the chance to show her how he’s always felt about her. He’s got his work cut out for him, because she’s definitely still got some trust issues with Nick.

What I loved:
He falls first
Former rivals
Enemies to lovers
Second chance
Christmas karaoke
Closed door
Nick’s love of babies
Found family & Aldon
The banter

This is a novella, but it’s well written and you feel like you’re getting a full story. It’s sweet, lots of fun, and filled with holiday spirit.

Many thanks to the author for an ARC!

You know what hits well? A perfectly crafted holiday novella. I love reading novellas during the holidays because when so much is usually going on moving through a quick romance brings a smile to my face. I adored this story.

I thought there was just the right amount of background information provided to really set the scene for the romance and that both characters were easy to love and clearly had a lot of great chemistry and banter together. The beachside small town holiday goodness was in abundance and made me crave all things winter.

Overall audience notes:
- Holiday Romance Novella
- Language: low
- Romance: make-outs
- Violence: low
- Content Warnings: cheating (not between the main characters), mentions of loss of loved ones

The cutest beachy Christmas novella

After coming face to face with her formal rival, Summer is hesitant on Nick’s intentions while he is working towards showing her who he truly is.

Nick is freaking perfection.. he adores kids and seems to have become the town golden boy (maybe except to Carol of course 😜😂). On top of that, his language of love is acts of service and will have you swooning the entire book. I love that Summer is head strong and successful!

These two bring all the Christmas spirit to Wilks Beach and I am ready for more of this small town! 🥰

❄️Childhood rivals to lovers
❄️Holiday romance
❄️Back to hometown
❄️ Clean romance

Nick has had a crush on Summer since high school, but she has no idea because they didn’t really get along back then.

When Summer moves back to her hometown, Nick sees it as his chance to finally show her how he feels and maybe get the opportunity he missed in the past. But let’s just say, he’s not exactly Summer’s favorite person.

I loved seeing how he slowly got closer to her and how she started to realize he’s not the guy she remembered. And Nick—he's totally head over heels for the heroine. This is a shorter book, but it’s a slow burn, which I absolutely love!

t’s a clean romance, perfect for anyone who loves the genre. And on top of that, it’s already getting me in the holiday spirit!

Thank you so much, Laura Langa, for sending me this ARC!

Thanks to the author for the #gifted e-copy!

If you’re in the mood for a holiday romance but are short on time, Laura Langa’s Holiday Tides might be the perfect choice for you. It’s a holiday-themed novella, that while only about 170 pages long, feels just as fully fleshed out in terms of characters and plot as a full length novel.

I love a good second chance romance, and this one also happens to be childhood rivals to lovers, which is another of my favorite tropes. I was hooked from the opening scene, which kicks off with the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, blasting our female main character, Summer, right out of bed. When Summer goes tearing out of her house to find the source of the noise and runs into Nick, the sparks and intense awkwardness are undeniable and I needed to know everything about them immediately because there was clearly some serious history there.

It turns out that Summer and Nick were rivals/enemies in high school and both were supposed to go to medical school. Summer did that and has returned home to practice medicine, while Nick is apparently a construction worker now. Nick is thrilled to see Summer and would love the chance to finally show her that in spite of appearances in high school, and the fact that he made her life miserable back then, he has actually always really liked her. Summer doesn’t trust him, but can he change her mind?

This was just so well written and I loved watching Nick try to win Summer over. I loved their banter and enjoyed watching them interact against the backdrop of so many holiday activities. I also appreciated the more heartfelt moments and think getting Nick’s backstory and also seeing the young man he has grown into really helped to flesh the story out and show that he was worthy of a second chance, if Summer was willing to give him one. I know I was definitely rooting for him!

Fun, heartfelt, and festive, Holiday Tides is available now!

What to Expect:
- Holiday Romance
- Small Beach Town
- Return to Hometown
- Former Rivals to Lovers
- Pediatrician FMC
- Renovation Foreman MMC
- Kissing Only

Holiday Tides is a delightful holiday-themed novella set in the seaside town of Wilks Beach, Virginia. The story follows Summer, a pediatrician who moves into her grandmother's charming but rundown cottage to save money and pay off her student loans. Independent to a fault, Summer struggles to accept help, even when it's desperately needed.

Enter Nick, her high school nemesis turned local renovation foreman. Once the privileged golden boy, Nick is now forging his own path in life, finding fulfillment in community work and surfing. His lingering feelings for Summer reignite when she returns to town, and he takes the opportunity to reconnect and perhaps have something more with her.

As they navigate renovations and the holiday season, their relationship evolves from rivalry to romance, marked by playful banter and growing chemistry. Summer's initial reluctance slowly melts away, influenced by Nick's kindness, patience, and persistence. The characters are lovable, and it's hard not to root for them. Holiday Tides is a cozy, heartwarming read with a dose of holiday cheer.

First thing that I was struck by when reading this wonderful Christmas novella was that the author writes with quick wit and wonderfully descriptive scene setting. Loved her way with words!

And of course, Summer and Nick! They were just wonderful! I really enjoyed reading their love story and seeing them work out their differences and find love. They had some great playful banter!! I didn't want to put it down! The fun Christmas vibes in a beach town was perfection! I loved all the fun Christmas events featured and... two words... Surfing Santa! And the character growth in this one was very well-done. I really enjoyed how the conflicts were handled maturely and honestly.

This was my first book by Laura Langa but this won't be my last. I loved it so much! I can't wait to visit Wilks Beach again!

The vibes:
- holiday novella
- Dual pov
- Closed door
- Highschool rivals

🎄 My thoughts:
When Summer has to return to her small beach town, she realizes that her neighbor is her former highschool rival, Nick. Nick is a total charmer who has been waiting for years to make things right with Summer and thinks this is finally his chance. But there’s a small wrench in his plans…Summer has a boyfriend who is all wrong for her.

I love the beach mentions, and I loved hearing about Summer’s relationship with Gramma. I thought the cardinal moments were so sweet. I also really liked seeing Summer’s job as a pediatrician.

This is a sweet and very short read. It had cute Christmas elements and really good bones. I enjoyed the main elements of the story and how they were high school rivals. Because this was a novella, I think it was hard for me to fully know and connect with Summer and Nick. I would have loved to have seen a bit more of them together and getting to know each other, but overall this was a cute read that I think many will enjoy during the holiday season.

4.25⭐️ ARC Review: Another holiday romance that did not disappoint! Honestly, holiday romances usually fall flat for me, with all that Hallmark cheese, but I ate this one up!

Nick and Summer were the cutest, and I loved them. Especially Nick. He was literal perfection with all of his teasing, goofiness, kindness, and love for children. Summer was adorable yet confident and also a doctor? She knew what she wanted, Nick being one of those things she wanted lol. I truly loved them together. Nick was so sweet and down bad for her behind all that teasing. And their first kiss? Yes ma'am.

It's a super quick read and so much fun. It is a novella, so it is short in length, but it did not lack on a single thing. It was well written and somehow still a slow burn?! I call that some serious skill. Make sure you put this on your holiday TBR, because it is not one you will want to miss.

I loved Nick and Summer! These two bring so much tension and fire. I love that this takes place in the small town they grew up in because then we get some scheming old ladies (Miss Carol) helping these two along with the feelings they keep trying to deny. I love the fire that Summer has behind her words and actions. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that instead of trying to tame that fire, Nick loves to help set it aflame in his teasing. Gah! I hope we get more of Wilks beach soon.

This story may be short, but it is packed with so much fun, romance, and banter! Nick and Summer were high school rivals—he made her life miserable, but secretly it's because he had a huge crush on her. She never knew. Years later, Summer’s back in town as a doctor and bumps into Nick. She thought he was a doctor too, but nope—he’s working construction.... right nearby! (Their meet-up is too perfect) Nick is thrilled to see her and finally wants to show her how he’s always felt. But the last thing he wants is to scare her away...so he does the only thing he can help her with her cottage repairs, befriend her again, and hopefully, he can finally show her the truth.

What I loved:
- He falls first
- HOW they reunite
- Childhood rivals to lovers
- Second chance
- Closed door romance
- Nick’s baby fever
- The banter
- THAT kiss scene 💋
- HIS plans for her.

It’s a novella, but it feels like a full story—sweet, fun, and overflowing with holiday magic! I literally started this story last night and woke up early to finish it! I definitely need to read more books by Laura now!

"A reluctant smile splits her face. It's the most breathtaking thing I've seen in days, and I regularly watch the sunrise break over the ocean."

This was a really cute Christmas novella! It had all the best Hallmark vibes, including a city-slicker boyfriend who doesn't have the holiday spirit. The story takes place in a super cute town on the coast that loves Christmas. There was a tree-lighting ceremony, hot cocoa bar, and Santa sighting. What more can you ask for?

I loved how Nick pursued Summer. His crush on her was so sweet! Their love story was a fun and endearing ride.

Even though this is a short novella, there was a lot of character development for Summer and Nick. Their shared history added a lot to the plotline!

It has those cute rom-com holiday vibes, and I liked the beach town setting. But I can’t get behind the borderline cheating on a current boyfriend that was the first half of the story (though the FMC did acknowledge that she couldn’t keep dating him while having feelings for someone else and did break it off, so there’s that.)

Summer, took a bit for me to get on board with but I can also understand how she was feeling. Nick isn't who you think he's going to be from the start. But he's just a good guy that wants to help others. It was cute to read their banter and have them figure out life.

Did I read a Christmas book in October? Why yes, I did. And I loved every second of it.

Nick and Summer were rivals in high school - and now that they find themselves both back on Wilks Beach it seems like the rivalry is still going strong. Only Nick has never viewed Summer as a rival, but can he convince her of that?

Summer and Nick were just the best!! Their banter was so good, and their chemistry was amazing. Nick has always had feelings for Summer, but Summer was blind to it. Except now she’s starting to see him in a different light. He’s pleasant, and fun to be around - a big difference from who he was in high school. Plus, he surfs in a Santa wetsuit 😍…and Summer’s favorite holiday just happens to be Christmas.

This novella sucked me in and I didn’t want to put it down. I would’ve loved more of these characters, but also love that nothing felt rushed. This book will make you laugh, while also making you want to give Nick a big hug when he opens up to Summer.

And that epilogue!!! 🥰🥰🥰

Some of my favorite parts:
🎄 Christmas karaoke
🎄 Aldon as Santa (really all of Aldon 😂)
🎄 Carol and how she knows everything
🎄 booger nugget 🤣
🎄 “What in the throuple situationship?” (I laughed so hard at this!!)
🎄 Nick and his love of babies 🫠

Nick and Summer were in school together and he bested her out of the goals she had to get scholarships into med school. Finally out of school and residency, she is back living in her grandma's place on Wilks Beach. The next morning she wakes to loud music and finds Nick and a crew working on the house nearby. Will they still be at odds? What are their real feelings toward each other? Why didn't he go to med school? Can he get close to her while she is dating someone else?
Loved the characters and their friends, the area and family history that shines through. Visuals of locations and funny situations really brought the story to life. The town snoop sometimes says just the right thing to get the ball moving again between them, and always points out the mistletoe. Great moments like his Santa wetsuit while surfing and her doctor specialty giving her insight to some new friends actions. Terrific ending..... I want more!

Holiday romance in its finest!

It is impossible to not fall in love with this book and its main characters Nick and Summer!

The book made me laugh and swoon and then again once more! 🫠 Great banter, renovation of an old house and all the Christmas feels were just what I needed to get into the holiday mood!

I would highly recommend to add this book to your TBR and read it when you need to reset your mind and to believe determination and found family always bring freedom, and that true love knows no bounds 😍

Two things to know about me: 1) Laura Langa's Love Tuscon is one of my absolute favorite series. 2) I am absolutely Christmas obsessed.

So, when I saw that Laura was starting a new series (Wilks Beach) with a holiday novella, I could not wait to get my hands on it... and it absolutely did not disappoint! Admittedly, I don't always love stories where one character is with someone else through part of the story, but this one was done well. It didn't give off any love triangle or cheating vibes and it's clear who Summer is supposed to end up with. The chemistry between Nick and Summer was absolute perfection... and the banter between these two former rivals!? Even better! I couldn't get enough of them together. Their mutual love of Christmas was so fun! One of the things that I really love about Laura's other series is how beautifully she combines real life issues/mental health with the comedy. This story likewise does touch a bit on anxiety (which I appreciated), without going too into that and taking away from the lighter hearted holiday vibes of the story. It had all the Christmas cheer blended perfectly with a chemistry filled romance and I loved it ALL. This is definitely one you'll want to add to your holiday TBR.

Holiday Tides is a closed-door romance with kisses only.

This book is equal part chemistry, Christmas, romance, and humor. And I literally have no idea who wouldn't want to read that.

I absolutely adored this Christmas novella! I was immediately drawn into the lives of Nick and Summer. They were rivals in high school before heading on their separate ways, until Summer returns to the island her grandmother lived on and runs into Nick. After high school, Summer continued on her path to become a doctor, while Nick changed gears and became a contractor instead of going to med school. I loved their banter as they fell into their old rival ways.

For a novella, Langa was able to weave in plenty of their backstories so that I felt like I was really able to get to know the characters and what drives them. It’s set on an island but gave really good small town holiday vibes despite that. I loved the found family aspects and seeing how great Nick was with kids, though he doesn’t have his own yet.

I highly recommend this cute, closed door novella to help get you in the holiday spirit!!

High school rivals who are thrust into being in close proximity with each other when she moves into her gramma’s old cottage, will history be repeating itself!?

When the book starts off with a sudden jolt out of bed because Mariah Carey is blaring, you can’t help but smile, laugh or shake your head.  For me, I did all 3!  While nobody likes to be woken out of a sound sleep, Summer, who has worked tirelessly as a pediatrician on the mainland, has more reasons to grumble considering it’s her first weekend off in forever.  Ever determined to get the music turned off, she marches over to the source of the music – a construction zone only to be escorted back off the property minutes later by the last person she expected to see in work boots and toolbelt!  Nick Watson made Summer’s academic career tougher as she was doing her best to secure scholarships since she was sixth in line of six kids, whereas he was an only child whose father could afford to send him anywhere.

Nick wasn’t expecting Summer Owens to be living in the place next to his job site and he wasn’t expecting to still feel some subtle attraction to her.  Not wanting to own his feelings, he put out his ever-present flirtatious energy out to conceal his true thoughts.  While the two clashed back and forth throughout the book, their tension turned from icy to red hot!  Nick was determined to show Summer that Christmas spirit was alive and well within him, not to mention that he could be her go to handyman for the various things that fell by the wayside with the cottage over the years.

The tit for tat with these two is awesome and when you throw in the meddlesome town gossip into the mix it gets even better!  His obsession with the fireplace in the cottage was fun.  But perhaps my favorite subplot was Aldon, there’s something about him that continually brought a smile to my face and knew his levity was perfection!  I loved getting to know these two as I remember them being referenced when I read “Seas the Dating Coach,” so it’s full circle!  May your upcoming holiday season be filled with all the joy that Summer has and your cocoa be topped with a mountain of whip cream as if Nick made it himself!

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁: So cute, it’s a perfect dose of Christmas cheer. Only issue is you’ll wish it wasn’t a Novella and want more, but that a good thing and a testament to how this story draws you in. If you like a story with good bones, cute moments, holiday traditions, found family and holiday vibes check this one out.

Summer is the youngest of 6 kids and it’s finally her turn to live in her grandma’s cottage on Wilks Beach. She is working as a pediatrician on the main land and plans to save money while living rent fee as she pays off her student loans, but the cottage isn’t in the condition she expected. It has no heat, no hot water, windows are falling out and the oven doesn’t work and that’s the short list. Summer finally has a Saturday off and gets to sleep in but is rudely awoken to Christmas tunes and construction noises. That’s when she storm across the street and runs into her high school nemesis.

Nick always tried to live up to his dad high standards, it drove him to be the best in high school but he couldn’t continue to live a life his dad designed. So instead of going to med school he cut off ties to his dad’s wealth and he stayed on Wilks Beach and was taken in by the community. He worked his way up and is not a foreman for his adoptive brother’s renovation company. He had the life he wants: surfing the waves, being a part of a family and making a difference in the community. The last thing Nick expected at the job site today was his high school crush coming storming across the yard hopefully coming back into his life.

There’s definitely heat sizzling between Nick and Summer as these two rival reunite. However a lot has changed since high school and maybe it’s time for their relationship to evolve as well. But old habits die hard. Summer is just as stubborn as ever and won’t make this easy on Nick.

Make sure to check out this adorable holiday novella when it releases on October 15th.

"The past is past. It'd be silly to hold on to it."

~Returning to her small beach town, Summer Owens finds herself living next to her former rival, Nick Watson, the renovation foreman who's as handy as he is irresistible in his custom Santa-red wetsuit. But Summer isn't falling for Nick's charm, remembering how he once made her life miserable. As they both enjoy the town's tree lighting ceremony, holiday parties, and a spirited karaoke competition, the sizzling tension grows. But nothing can happen under the mistletoe until Summer realizes that her current boyfriend is all wrong for her...

"Everyone needs help every once in a while, and l've taken my share of it from this community. If you need something, please ask me."

-Holiday Tides, is a delightful quick-paced, quick-read holiday romcom novella. It is sweetly and precisely filled with lots playful wit and banter, building tension, sizzling kisses, swoony moments, and all the Christmas feels of this he falls first, small beach town, closed-door/kisses-only. I enjoyed watching dear characters work at fixing their dear hearts. Watching dear Summer make the choice between the wrong man in her life and the one who's been right next door all along was heartwarming. Watching Nick jump at every chance to fix the things that keep falling apart in Summer's historic cottage and in her heart too, was the sweetest!
Seeing endearing characters rise from their past and move forward with joy shines bright in this story, worth the read!
