The world has been burned. The final mass extinction is nearly complete.
The dragon plague has scoured the land of living things, and Troyson Strom lives on his small boat, staying on the move, and gathering supplies when he can. But he has a plan – save enough provisions and sail back to the coast of Greenland and search for the mighty rift in the ice wall that leads through Odin’s Gate, and then on to Lemuria.
He will never stop, and never turn back, until he is reunited with Yrsa, the Viking queen, and his lost love.
But inside Lemuria, Yrsa and her clan faces their own threat, one that has emerged from beneath the ground in a dark wave that will consume every living thing on the island.
Yrsa has seen Troy’s return in a dream, but as clan leader she must leave to confront the dark horde, and quickly finds herself overwhelmed and trapped in darkness by a horrifying adversary that is intelligent and brutal, and she is forced to watch as her strongest warriors are spirited away one-by-one to be eaten alive.
Now, Troy must locate the entrance to Lemuria just using his skill, and blind luck. And Yrsa must stay alive long enough for him to find her.
In the gripping finale to the Mysterious Island series, Greig Beck creates a heart-stopping tale of courage, return and redemption, and with enough action and thrills to keep you reading long into the night.
Hi GoodReaders, I’m an Australian author residing in Sydney with my wife, son and a mad Golden Retriever named Jessie. My novels are now available globally, also in Large Print and now in full AUDIO format.
I grew up spending my days surfing at Bondi Beach before entering a career in Information technology which took me around the world. After completing an MBA, i was appointed both an Australasian director of a multinational software company, and tasked with setting up the USA arm of the organisation.
Today, I spend most of my time writing... with plenty left over for surfing.

I have really enjoyed this series. After the last book I felt the series ended but I am happy to say that I am wrong. This is one of the best. The battle against every conceivable enemy, including man continues. I have always been intrigued with Vikings but I had never thought of them in an environment such as that of the dinosaur era. This reading reveals man at his lowest, survivors with unquestionable hope, love that knows no boundaries and some incredibly scary “critters”. If you want never ending action and suspense, this is the book for you. Enjoy the ride my fellow GR friends.
The Mysterious Island: Sanctuary - you may want to pack some bug spray
I have read several books by author Greig Beck. I'm not sure if I would go on a trip with him if they are anything like the stories he writes! The Mysterious Island: Sanctuary is another excellent Greig Beck story that will entertain any fan of adventure, sci-fi, and a bit of romance and lust, not necessarily human! For me, each of Beck's stories opens my mind and emotions to the impossible journeys and exciting adventures I first felt when I saw the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. The original 1959 version with James Mason, Pat Boone, and Arlene Dahl. That story by the famous author Jules Verne was published in 1864! In my humble opinion, Greig Beck's The Mysterious Island is a chip off of the old Nautilus that also traveled to a mysterious island under the command of Captain Nemo. (To be consistent, I wouldn't go on a trip with Jules Vern either!) -Mr.Bill
Another great series from Creig Beck. At first I wasn't sure about getting into this series. I've seen a few Mysterious island books and movies but after starting and getting into it , I'm so glad I did. After 4 books I'm sry to see it end it was an exciting read but only one complaint . Some of the books were audible and that is what makes for the atmosphere. The narrator Creig has reading his books is soooo good, he really should stick with him and so should other authors lol. Awesome highly, highly recommend.
After the cliffhanger ending of the third Mysterious Island book, I was very excited to read the conclusion of the series. This novel like the previous three was a roller coaster of chills, thrills, terrifying monsters, evil villains, and much more. The tension builds slowly as you reach the top before plunging into a battle of life and death. You're given a few moments to catch your breath before you're once again heading into another struggle. Greig Beck has quickly become one of my favorite authors by delivering exciting, thrilling adventures that I find extremely entertaining!
After the somewhat bleak ending of the third book in this series, Beck takes us back to Lemuria for a rousing, very satisfying conclusion to the series. Giant Vikings, giant ants, and even bigger dragons all make for a very enjoyable read. Greig Beck continues to be one of my favorite in the action-adventure field.
4.5 stars for me, especially for the short unsavoury epilogue.
As a long time fan of Greig Beck I started this book again with the same high expectations and I am happy to say it delivered again on nearly every level. This feels like Greig at his most confident blending epic adventure powerful emotion and relentless forward momentum into a story that is both thrilling and deeply satisfying. The secondary twist in the island with a ferocious new quarry is great.
From the opening chapters there is a sense of finality and purpose. The world is broken, the stakes enormous and the characters are pushed to their limits. Love is willing to plumb the depths of those limits. Greig excels at writing action but what impressed me most here was the emotional weight carried throughout the story. The relationships feel earned and the choices made by the characters carry real consequences. I was fully invested in their journeys and found myself genuinely moved by several moments.
The pacing is tight the tension rarely lets up and the sense of scale is massive without ever losing focus on the human heart of the story. This is the kind of book that reminds me why I keep coming back to this author. Sanctuary is a bold satisfying conclusion (except that teeny weeny epilogue) that rewards loyal readers while still delivering pure adventure. Four and a half stars for a powerful finale that stayed with me long after I turned the last page.
After finishing book 3 and the gut punch that came with it, I hoped the author would continue the series to give us a better ending. Well we got it, sort of.
Troyson is now a giant, hiding from dragons, and bringing a group of refugees to Lemuria. Yrsa goes off to fight giant ants. And pretty much everyone else is cannon fodder. Troyson faces off against the massive drekka and both survive. I was pretty disappointed we didn't get to see Troyson finally take out the drekka, especially considering he finds a weapon that can do that with ease. Instead we get a weird 1000 year time jump that says oh by the way all the dragons just died out basically, the Vikings left Lemuria, and have shrunk to normal size, and have basically forgotten about Lemuria. Oh and the giant drekka is probably still alive just waiting. That's the best ending we can get? Really? No epic showdown between Troyson and the drekka? No epilogue detailing how the Vikings leave Lemuria and wage war on the dragons? Just a meh ending that ruined the momentum of the book.
What an ending! This is one of my all time favourite series, though I have to admit 3/4 the way through this book, I was feeling betrayed; that it was becoming a farce; it seemed like Beck was throwing whatever the heck he wanted into the mix to make it more "exciting" regardless of plot. I mean how much can one person go through in a couple of days and not end up a quivering mess, rocking in a corner and noping out?! Sure, somethings, like grief and consequences, were glossed over but this was all about the thrills and adventure. It was scary, funny at times, gory and brutal with the twists: they were warned multiple times! The ending was beautiful and the time skip to the future - absolute chef's kiss. Glad I got the physical copies. Will be rereading them again through the years. Greig Beck, you are a master of tale.
Beck does it again! One of my favorite authors, who never disappoints. We're taken once again into a world of adventure in Lemuria with our beloved and familiar characters, lovers trying to reconnect and warriors trying to protect their people from the horrifying monsters that lurk on this ancient island. We get to visit this old world with a fresh new captivating storyline and introduced to some new characters who infiltrate the island for their first time. It's an exciting adventure that you do not want to miss! I raced through this book and, although there was a satisfying ending, it was left open to more adventures in the future and I certainly hope there will be!!
I LOVED this book. Great job Greig!!! I was so sad to see the series end. I would have loved to read more adventures of Troy in the Viking world. To see if he had more kids and how things came to be. I especially wanted to see what became of Ollie. I was disappointed that no one from the fishing village made it but Ollie. I had hoped Troy was going to rescue the people from the marauders boat. Overall I really enjoyed the series. I highly recommend it.

I thought this series ended with the last book, I'd have been fine with it. It was a dark ending, but so well done. Not every series has to end with a happy ending. Granted, this last book was an exciting read. But it just did not have the emotional impact like the previous one. I recommend this series, but end with book 3.
Greig continuously pulls me into his world of adventure and danger. This is another awesome series of his. You’ll get sucked in and lose track of time. You’ll read and read and read because you can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Thank you Greig Beck for your amazing adventures and stories!
Oh Greig Beck! I love your adventures! This time he takes us along with Troyson Strom back through Odin’s Gate to island of Lemuria. Strom intends to find and reunite with his love, Yrsa, the Viking Queen—or die trying!! All the monsters, both human and nonhuman that you’ve come to expect in a Beck novel are there. Cross your fingers and hold your breath. You are in for a wild ride!
As ever, a good read that I found myself looking forward to returning to each night, for a while. As AI written, m-dash infested writings infiltrate and clog the once pure world of the authors, good writings like these will likely become dinosaurs of their own, in time.
I picked up the first book in the series and was hooked. The last book, ties up some unanswered questions, but leaves more forming your mind. If another came out I would devour in a day!
I really enjoyed all the books and I hope Greig can continue with more stories on Lemuria. I believe there are plenty of monsters to fight on the island.
The Mysterious Island: Sanctuary brings the series to a end. With Troy going back to Lemuria to find Yrsa. Many obstacles before him. I enjoyed the entire series. And it had what I thought was a good ending. 5 Stars.
After the third book, I was impressed Greig had the guts to end on such a downer, I had no idea he could turn it around for a happier ending. Bravo. Keep it up.
Greig Beck does not disappoint. A terrific conclusion to the series. The book had everything you would expect from the Author. All manners of hungry plants / insects / animals. Highly recommended for the fans of this genre.
This was the best adaptation of the mysterious island story I have ever read, I loved the storyline and characters, and I could not wait for book four but totally worth the wait, great read you won't be disappointed
I enjoyed all 4 of the books in this series . As with all of Becks work. It has a well thought out plot, infused with monsters of all shapes and sizes. A very good read
Mysterious Island 4: Sanctuary was a fitting ending to a great series. It had almost non-stop action, short chapters and scenes, and no unnecessary rambling. It was an outstanding read. I am very happy with the way it turned out. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful end to the series! I thoroughly enjoyed every one of the four novels… just a great story! A little fantastical, but absolutely worth the read!
What a vivid imagination I’m sorry the series has ended but, they would make great movies if Hollywood get off his dead ass and not make Fast and Furious 95. Please.
I really enjoyed the whole Mysterious Island series. It’s full of action and adventure and it keeps you guessing all the way to the end. It’s a great read!!
