A fun, no-nonsense guide with tips and tricks from the super-stylish, including Oprah Winfrey, Sofia Richie Grainge, Sarah Jessica Parker, Monica Bellucci, Jodie Turner-Smith, Ruth E. Carter, Nicky Zimmermann and Law Roach, How to Wear Everything reveals the fashion industry's best-kept getting dressed is not that hard.
This is the second fashion book I have read and reviewed in the past week. While the other one was more general about fashions, and what to get rid of in your closet, this one covers all the bases quite nicely. HOW TO WEAR EVERYTHING is most thorough, covering so many bases, that you could refer to it whenever you had a fashion question or dilemma. Kay Barron is a fashion director living in England. She certainly has her pulse on the heart of fashion as evidenced by the book. She begins the book by stating, “this is a book about clothes, not a book about fashion.” She further adds,” Clothes are important. Clothes can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. Clothes have the power to make the mood you woke up in ten times worse or one hundred time better.” She had a feel for fashion even as a teenager, and in this book, she uses her expertise to give people the same sort of fashion heads-up. All the bases are really covered, right from casual wardrobe onward. But there is an added bonus to the book, which happens to be observations from many people of note, who have their own sense of fashion, either as an influencer or one who wears them well. There are comments about aspects of fashion from people like Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Monica Bellucci, and others. There are fashions noted for every occasion, to get the optimum out them and strut your stuff in style, especially on vacations, at certain events, and according to the season. There is a section on underwear and lingerie which it is noted are quite different. Underwear is noted as for everyday wear, while lingerie is touted as for special occasions. There is a section on pregnancy, which gives one a thorough course on the sorts of fashions that would be appropriate during this nine month period, to make those months easier to handle. There is even a dating section as well, telling you how to get dressed for a date. There are many subtle differences here, as one is advised to dress differently for a first date than on subsequent dates. There is even the right fashions noted for long-term relationships dating. Other areas in the book include: bags, parties, shoes, workwear, off-duty pre-loved, and much more. Some might call it the bible of proper fashion, as there is a solution and suggestions for most aspects of life, and what to wear in each circumstance. HOW TO WEAR EVERYTHING offers much more than a little bit of everything for the fashion-conscious.
